Chrysler Concorde owners have reported 23 problems related to steering tie rod assembly (under the steering category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I have a 1997 Chrysler concord. I had a severe clunking noise in front end. After several trips to the garage and almost $1000 later I had replaced both inner tie rod ends, all 4 cradle bushings as well as both swaybars in front end. Not to mention
front end alignments after each repair. Then my left tie rod had to be replaced again within a bout a month. The problem was eventually fixed and noise stopped until now. Six months later I'm experiencing the same noises and a lose tie rod again. I have seen all the complaints about Chrysler and note that they don't include the 1997 model as having these problems but I do with my 97 concord. I have 2 children that ride in my vehicle and this is really unsafe. If the tierods break or come lose you can't steer the car. This problem really needs to be addressed by Chrysler and fixed.

My car started making a lot of clunking and grinding noise when I would turn the steering wheel and when I would go over a bump while turning, so I took my car in to a car shop and they said that it was the tie rods on my car and that if I didn't get it fixed that I would more than likely have bad accident because the steering would lock up, so I am having my car repaired at my cost, when Chrysler should have taken care of this when it was first brought to there attention. My car is a 2004 Chrysler concord with only 61744 miles on it, I was lucky enough to know that there was something wrong with my car and have an appointment to get the tie rods fixed before I get killed, my appointment is Nov 18, 2008.

I just got off the highway. While I was parking the vehicle I heard popping noise under the hood and I completely lost steering. The bolts holding the inner rods and rack and pinion broke off. After some research I found out that this is very common problem for this line of Chrysler vehicles. I called Chrysler customer service. They claim that this is not their problem because the car is not under manufacture warranty. .

I have a 1996 Chrysler Concorde and while driving had the tie rod bolts break completely off from the rack, since I have had the bushings and bolts replaced twice, and am still in need of rack mount bushings as they have failed and I now once again feel the car floating where ever it wants to go on the road. The rack mount bushings are approx. $53 for two and I am in need of four. I work barely part time and cannot afford to continue to fix a problem that shouldn't even exist. Where does a company like DC stop assuming responsibility for issues that are very much on their end of the stick? had I been on the highway I would have definitely been killed no question. I have 3 children that regularly ride in the car and is Chrysler going to pay for our funeral when their product kills one of us or on of their millions of other customers? I highly doubt it. We need to do something about this immediately!.

: the contact stated the vehicle's front end rattled and shook at various speeds. The dealership determined the front tie rod ends and bushings needed to be replaced for the third time in three years. The first time in August 2003, the passenger side wheel fell off. The second time in June 2004, the front end rattled and shook. Each time the dealership determined the front tie rod ends and bushings needed to be replaced.
After hitting bump in road 96 Chrysler Concorde started shaking violently and was difficult to control. Upon inspection the inner tie rod bushing was missing. This could have resulted in a crash.
1996 Chrysler Concorde left front tire and rim detached from vehicle. All the lug nuts were torn off. The consumer stated the tie rod had been replaced recently.
My wife and son were parking the vehicle when a creak followed by a loud popping noise occured. At that point, the vehicle could not be steered. The vehicle was towed to the local Chrysler Dodge dealer ship in frisco, TX for analysis. Subsequent report from the dealership was that both pins holding the tie-rod ends to the rack and pinion steering box had sheared. In addition, the rack and pinion steering box had a crack. Don't know if the pins sheared first or the crack in the box came first. The steering wheel inside the car could be rotated 360 deg. In either direction with no accompaning action of the tires on the ground. Absolutly no steering control whatsoever! this was a total collosal manufactureing defect in the steering that has happened before (check the website complaint # 10053466) in tucsan, az around January of 2004. My rack & pinion steering box was replaced at 35k miles by this same dealership while still under warrenty due to a malfunction while steering the car. I'm just greatful that my wife and son were not out on the highway when this major failure occured. Someone is going to get killed if this is not fixed! quit ignoring the fact (Chrysler) that there is a engineering defect in this vehicle model!.

First it was the rack & pinion going out on my 1996 Chrysler Concorde. Chrysler did replace under warranty. Now the tie-rods have failed - not covered under Chrysler's extended warranty.
The contact had the inner tie rod replaced four times. Several repair shops and other vehicle owners told her this was not a good car. Talso, he rack and pinion was not working properly, and the driver's side tire will not turn.
Consumer 1997 Concorde driver side tire turned right while driving down a hill and stopped. After having the vehicle towed, the consumer was informed the inner tie rod had failed and the outer tie rod was about to fail. The dealer stated it looked as if the vehicle had been work on previously, and whom ever did the work did not place the tabs back in place and because of that the tie rods eventually stripped and fell out of place. The consumer stated the rack and pinion was replaced and the previous dealer did stated they did have to remove the tie rods in order to replace the rack and pinion, however they refused to reimburse the consumer because it had been over 5 years since the repair.
We purchased this car new. It has always had alignment problems which were reported to the dealership. We finally decided to live with the problem because we got tired of no service. In oct of 2000 we had both inner tie rod ends and the left outer tie rod end replaced. The rack assembly was never addressed in this repair. As stated earlier we have complained about the steering. I have seen many complaints on your web site for the same problems. Will people have to be injured before Chrysler accepts responsibility for their poor design.
When consumer started to turn vehicle inner tie rod was defective. Also, front wheel shimmied and vibrated. There was no recall.
The complete steering mechanism and rod had to be replaced, the rod needed replacement a second time. Nlm.
Well as I can tell this is a wide spread problem the rack and pinion, bushings and steering gear failure and tie rod ends. My concord has had a clunk grinding sound for sometime in the steering and now the car is beginning to not turn when I turn the steering wheel. Not every one has a $1000. 00 to $2000. 00 to get this fixed what will it take to get Chrysler to fix the problem a school bus full of children getting hit buy one of the many Chrysler cars with the same steering problem on the road. Please help before someone gets killed if not already.
Replaced both outer sway bar links, replaced right outer tie rod end and sleeve.
Because vehicle would wander all over the road while drivng at any speed, it was taken to dealership. At the dealership, both tie rod ends were replaced. One of tie rod bushing was gone, and the other bushing was worn out. The owner of the vehicle states that it is unusual for the tie rod to wear prematurely and thinks it is a defect in the front end that caused it.
The inner tie rods, bushings and the steering gear failed causing extreme vibrations while driving.
Tie rod bolts failed causing the wheels to malfunction. Yh.
When driving and upon exiting the highway two of the inner tie rod bolts which hold up the rack and pinion broke, causing steering failure. Consumer has contacted dealer. Please provide any further details.
