Car pops out of first gear on take off almost got rear ended once and hit broad side by a truck when trying to merge into trafic. Chrysler had issued a technical bulletin for this problem . I fully belive this was and is a safty issue and should be listed as such.
At 50 mph on a maryland state highway, the engine unexpectedly shut off resulting in the vehicle coasting to a stop in the traffic lane (there was no shoulder). Fortunately, I was not struck by another vehicle, but it was dark and vehicles coming over a small hill and slight curve had to take evasive action to avoid a collision. The engine would crank and start briefly and then sputter to a stop. Or, it would just crank and not fire or not crank at all. I was eventually, with assistance, able to push the vehicle off the roadway into a residential driveway. I had the vehicle towed to my residence for further diagnosis. The vehicle would later start and run normally for a short period, but then was plagued by a large list of issues to include: malfuncitoning indicator lights illuminated - brake light, brake wear indicator, traction control, stability control; p0600 data link loss code; vehicle not shifting out of park; speedometer not working, etc. Eventually, the engine would no longer crank at all. All issues were remedied by replacing the relay control module (rcm) - a part that was, and still is, manufactured by stribel. This part has know issues related to poorly soldered connections that cause no-start conditions or cause the vehicle to stall while operating. The rcm is also plagued by failure of the internal relays (engine control, fuel pump, traction control, secondary air pump) themselves which may be hastened by overheating as a result of the poor solder joints. If it has not already happened, someone is going to be seriously injured or killed when their Chrysler Crossfire (or any one of a number of Mercedes Benz vehicles utilizing the same stribel relay) stalls due to this widely know defect and is struck by another vehicle.
On my way to work having just passed several cars, traveling @70+ miles/hr. On the interstate, I noticed wobbling & the loss of control & immediately moved to the right lane & steered towards the right shoulder of the highway, thanking god for no accident. I put the gear in~park~turned the ignition switch off & checked the exterior to notice my newly purchased rear passenger tire was prematurely blown(recently purchased tires). I called a tow truck(2nd time this March month because it wouldn't crank in my driveway): upon their interstate arrival, I learned that the electronic control system/engine had shutdown with an 'inability to put the car in neutral gear or any gear in order for them to tow it. This is the 3rd time the engine has locked like this. The car has been in the shop for 8(eight) months now since March 23, 2015 & the Chrysler mechanics are in 'awe' as it seems to be irrepairable. I have been without transportation since March, 2015. Chrysler company, please help me with this dangerous problem: I & others could have been killed on the interstate & I have been towed three times because the electronic stability shutdown, but this has been the longest & worst. In the past, I have had the hood-ceiling, ignition switch replaced & before this, I was about to have the silver outside window borders replaced. There has to be a recall on this electronic system just shutting down while I am in the midst of driving as this being the 3rd time shutting down & I do have a new battery, therefore that is not the problem. Help! help! help! [note: Crossfire in shop 8+ months/ I am without my car! please let me hear from you concerning this serious & dangerous matter! it is the mercy of god that there was no accident during the rush/work morning traffic on the interstate, Monday, March 23, 2015. Help! please!.

The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire. While driving 30 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 123,000.
I just bought this car. The cup holder is stuck in the vertical position right where my elbow goes when controlling the shifter thus making it difficult and possibly dangerous to do so. I went on the internet to investigate this issue and found hundreds of complaints from Crossfire owners of all years about this very thing. Chrysler will do nothing about it including just disconnecting the spring on the cup holder so that it will stay down. The fix is over $300 if you get Chrysler to do it, and they install the same defective part again. Not a good fix. I think it is dangerous, very distracting while driving.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start and all of the power train position lights illuminated. The contact could also feel a vibration in the shift handle. After numerous attempts to start the vehicle, the vehicle responded however, the contact was not able to shift out of park. After some time, the contact was able to shift out of park but the vehicle would not shift out of the lower gears while in motion. The vehicle was taken to three different dealers for diagnosis but no cause for the failure could be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 55,000. Kmj.
The engine cuts out without any pre-indications. Afterward the starter will not respond although the lights work ok. The transmission locks when put in park. Hours later the response stays the same. The first time it started working a day later, the second time it hasn't started yet. The dealer seems to have no idea on what to do. It left me stranded late at night. This seems to be a chronic Crossfire problem.
