I just bought this car. The cup holder is stuck in the vertical position right where my elbow goes when controlling the shifter thus making it difficult and possibly dangerous to do so. I went on the internet to investigate this issue and found hundreds of complaints from Crossfire owners of all years about this very thing. Chrysler will do nothing about it including just disconnecting the spring on the cup holder so that it will stay down. The fix is over $300 if you get Chrysler to do it, and they install the same defective part again. Not a good fix. I think it is dangerous, very distracting while driving.

Recall laminate issue, convertible top failure leading to electrical damage causing top to stay open.
My back window is starting to peel away from the glue which holding it in, and I heard. It's been recalled to replace the top.
Noticed the rear window has started to detach from the top. This is a know flaw and needs to be addressed. This is a major hazard as the car cannot be driven as is.
Rear window detached. Nhtsa has Chrysler TSB on file for same exact defect, issued by Chrysler in 2011, specifying 10 year/100,000 mile warranty extension. Chrysler restricts their remedy to only vehicles first sold in alabama, florida, georgia, louisiana, missouri, north carolina, south carolina, tennessee, and texas, despite the fact that all of these cars were imported from the same source at the same time. There is no difference in the product defect that has occurred nationwide. The NHTSA must force Chrysler to help all affected owners! what Chrysler is doing is just so wrong! please help us! updated 05/12/14.
Rear window became completely detached (loose) from the mounting surface. Having the Chrysler group service bulletin (23035-11 rev a) on file, which specifies a 10yr/100,000 mi. Warranty extension (2005 model) along with an ample amount of evidence that this defect has occurred in all regions of the u. S. , to a vehicle that was imported from only one source in germany; why has the NHTSA failed to require the Chrysler group to cover all of the affected vehicles regardless of which state they were first sold in???.
The adhesive fastening the rear window to the convertible top let go and the glass has fallen in to the vehicle.
Rear window in convertible top unglued on top and both sides and fell into car while parked. Air temperature was above 100f. No previous problems with window leakage or sign of impending failure. Believe this is part of sb 23035-11 rev a but local Chrysler dealer unable to authorize repair or replacement. Have contacted Chrysler and opened case number [xxx] and am awaiting resolution. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
When I purchased my vehicle in December 2007, I did not had any major problems. Until. . . On or about the first of June, 2012, I parked my car and noticed that the rear window had come a part from the convertible top. Since I had not been in an accident, I began to research online to see if other consumers had experienced this window issue. Site after site, complaint after complaint was read. With so many people experiencing this problem without a suitable response or solution to its consumer, this has become a serious problem, a defect that must be resolved and the cars should be recalled. The potential to endanger lives far outweighs any other consideration. When someone buys a convertible, one doesn't expect to be driving along and the glass comes flying down and out. It's not safe! the only repair solution is the entire top must be replaced (costing upwards of $2100) due to no negligence of the consumer. If I have read these complaints, I'm certain that Chrysler has as well. Years of this problem has persisted. Still poor production of this same product and no recall by Chrysler. The company hasn't skimped on the sales prices on this vehicle. I don't expect it to take shortcuts when it comes to consumer safety. Why should the consumer suffer loss of safety and welfare? I humbly ask that these vehicles be recalled.

Purchased this vehicle in April of this year, from a Chrysler dealer. It came with a plastic window, which I found out, is not factory/standard. The dealer refused to take care of it. Found out about the x31 and sb-23035-11reva bulletin, contacted Chrysler about it, got turned down because we are the 4th owners of the car, and it was 3,000 over the 100k mile limit. I wrote sergio marchionne, the ceo of Chrysler, got a review, but was turned down again. Told that it "would not make good business sense" to fix my car! what!!? the problem is widespread, and since Chrysler has owned up, they should continue to be a good manufacturer, and take care of their customers, original or not. The condition is dangerous.
The rear window is detaching from the convertible top. It has gotten progressively worse over the past year and the window could fall out at any time without a repair. This is a known problem with the 2005 roadster models, Chrysler has refused to issue a general recall. As a result, my local Chrysler dealer in seminole florida will not replace nor repair the top.
The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire convertible. The contact stated that the rear window detached from the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the failure was a common occurrence but the window was not warranted by the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 38,000.
2005 Chrysler Crossfire convertible top window fell out.
The back window on 2005 Chrysler Crossfire fell out rendering the operation of the vehicle useless until repaired.
The convertible top's back window came unglued and fell out. Should be a mfr defect and be recalled.
I own a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire limited edition convertible. Aug 23, 2010 I notice the glue seal around the rear glass dried up, which caused the rear glass to fall out and potential cause sever problems for the driver if not caught in time. This is a known manufactures defect, however, Chrysler will not own up to this problem. My top is like new and it is clear to me and others this is a mfg defect in the adhesive. In my opinion, Chrysler is shifting gears to the consumer and hoping the issue happens after the warranty period. I am under the mileage warranty, however, I was inform the 1st owner of the car is when the warranty begins, therefore, the car is out of warranty based on the years and not mileage! the replacement cost is $3500 for a new top and glass. We need help out here and your investigation is greatly appreciated. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I own a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire convertable with 55,000 miles on it. This mornign I went to get in the car and the back window had separated from the roof and was hanging by the defrost connectors. I took it to my Chrysler dealer and they said they had had a few do that. The only remidy was to replace the whole top! ($2500 !!!) it seems the heat seal adhesive used to hold the window in place is inadequate. I checked the internet and four many reports of the same problem. Is Chrysler not willing to step up to the plate and stand good for their product?.
Own 2005 Crossfire and the glass in the soft top is falling out. Chrysler refusing to be responsible. One attempt was already made to reglue the area coming unglued, but after several hundred dollars and 3 weeks later . . It still is falling out. I have been told by several auto repair top places that the entire top would have to be replaced . . . Estimated cost $2500!!! I have learned in the last few weeks that this is a very common problem and obviously a manufacture defect and Chrysler should step up to the plate.
2005 crhysler Crossfire rear window pulled away from canvas. Cannot be repaired. Needs a new roof at a cost of $2250. Under extended warranty, Chrysler dealer claims not covered. There are numerous complaints about this issue yet Chrysler does not stand behind this product.
Chrysler Crossfire 2005 back window fell out, came unglued for no reason, requires replacement of whole top. Manufacturer's defect so insurance won't pay and Chrysler corp refuses to do anything to correct. Safety hazard, unable to drive car, put top down, etc. Cost to replace at my dealership 1700. 00 parts plus 700. 00 labor!!!!! help - make Chrysler pay to fix!!!!.
2005 Chrysler Crossfire 12,000 miles in new condition. Rear window separating from fabric convertible top due to poor engineering using inadequate sealant. No know fix available due to numerous complaints found online. Chrysler will not warrant the issue. Conv. Top hasn't been updated so there is no know fix!!.
I own a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire convertible. It has 27,434 miles on it. The back glass window came unglued and partially fell into the rear deck. It cannot be repaired with additional glue. The remainder of the top is in excellent shape. It is now costing me $2850. 00 for a new top. Clearly, this is a design flaw and safety hazard. A recall is in order.
The glass from the top of my 2005 Chrysler Crossfire roadster sunk in as the glue from manufacturer did not hold up. It is under a maximum coverage warranty from Chrysler and they still did not want to cover the repair b/c it is material. However, it is the way manufacturer made the car(with a soft top) therefore the warranty should cover the top even if its cloth b/c it is how they made it.
In 2009, I purchased a 2005 Crossfire, it was in perfect condition with only 32000 miles on it. I have kept it in my garage. This last April, I noticed the rear glass window began to separate from the canvas top. I was surprised to find out it is only supported by adhesive glue. It is a glass window, what were they thinking, it needs better support. Chrysler has been of little help and I hate to replace due to the cost due and because the top itself is still in good condition. They need to remedy this as it seems to be a defect.
I have a 2005 Crossfire convertible! I spent a lot of money for this car and now the back window is ready to fall out!!! it has separated from the drivers side completely. Im afraid the window will fly out completely and kill someone while on the highway!!!!.
Have a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire convertible and the back window came apart from the canvas. Vehicle only has 27,000 miles on it. Contacted Chrysler and they say it is not a defect but from other complaints I have seen this is happening often in the Crossfire convertible. Told by the dealership that this would be goodwill by them since I was only 13 days out of warranty when this happened, but they are not returning my phone calls.
The rear window glass is coming out of the convertible top on my 2005 Chrysler Crossfire. There was less than 40,000 miles on the car when it started. Went to the dealer to get it looked at and was told that Chrysler would not cover it and that my extended warranty did not cover it. This seems to be a common problem on this model car from what I have been reading on the web. With all I have been reading I would think that Chrysler should be responsible and fix this issue.
This is a complaint on a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire roadster that was just purchased in June 2009. I was looking in my rear view mirror on Sunday afternoon and noticed a small quarter inch gap between my convertible top and my rear window. When I inspected the vehicle, I also noticed another gap that was on the left driver side of my rear window. This gap is about 2 inches wide and I can literally stick my hand on the inside of my car. It seems that the heat here in texas has melted the glue to the point that the window is becoming detached from the convertible top's canvas material. So, I contacted Chrysler customer care on Monday morning and they instructed me to visit a dealer to see if they could fix the window. I went to the dealership that afternoon and they told me (verbatim) "we don't bother working on this vehicle because it is too much of a hassle, we refer Crossfires to an upholstery shop!" so, the next morning which was Tuesday, I contact Chrysler customer service again, told them what I was told at the dealership and they said "please go to a different dealership. " so I went again that Tuesday afternoon and this time they looked at my vehicle and said they would contact customer service and get back with me the next day. I received a call today, Wednesday, saying that it is going to cost $3,000 plus tax to repair. They can't just glue the window back in, they have to replace the whole top. Chrysler also denied a goodwill replacement because it was deemed unnecessary, and my warranty just expired like 20 miles ago. The top is on back order, as I was told by the service manager at the dealership, so it could be a while before I would even be able to have it repaired. I am driving around with a half glued rear window, that can fall out and bust inside my car at any point. It is not only a hazard to me, but also to any passengers, pedestrians or motorist around me. If this should fall out while I am driving, I or someone else can become seriously injured.
In mid 2009 I noticed that the rear window glass in my 2005 Chrysler Crossfire roadster was delaminating from the canvas apparently due to a poor adhesive bond. I was able to re-attach it myself after I was refused service by my local Chrysler dealer due to "adhesives and the soft top are not covered". He cited "environmental factors can not be controlled" and are excluded from warranty service. This car was purchased in georgia at a Chrysler dealership and is kept garaged. It is driven approximately 4500 miles per year, and is immaculate. The top is separating again and after contacting Chrysler customer care, I was told that mine is excluded from a recent "partial" recall for cars only manufactured on "certain production lines" in michigan. Or originally delivered to a few "hot" states. Mine was apparently delivered to michigan. Does this mean I can't drive it south past columbus, ohio? this is a bald faced lie. Every one of these cars were manufactured and assembled in osnabruck, germany, and shipped here. The window is about to fall out and will look very stylish in the grill of the car behind me. This is a safety issue and should be addressed as such. My car will sit until either Chrysler comes clean on an obvious manufacturing defect or I can scrape up enough to pay for it myself. Updated 10/14/11.
The problem is same as below. Hyundai is recalling 91,202 my 2002-2003 Hyundai sonata vehicles. Repeated use of the interior door handle may cause wear of the chrome plate. If the top edge of the handle has very thin chrome plating, that portion of the plating may wear away more easily than more thickly plated areas as the door handle is used. The worn chrome plating on the upper edge of the handle may result in a crack or separation between the chrome plating on the inboard and outboard surfaces of the handle, which may form a sharp edge. 2004 Chrysler Crossfire.
The chrome trim on the backside of my 2005 Chrysler Crossfire interior door pull is peeling and becoming very sharp. This occurs on both driver and passenger doors. I recently sliced my finger open while closing the driver's door. There is a TSB out to fix this issue, but since my car is out of warranty Chrysler will do nothing. This is a safety concern.
I own a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire conv. The back window became unglued and is falling out,I cant drive the car and it is not possible to put the top down. The only fix I'm aware of is to order a new top from Chrysler at the tune of 2500 dollars. It's a major problem and they should recall this and repair at no charge. This car was expensive and obviously I will no longer buy a Chrysler product because they will not fix their problem.
2005 Chrysler Crossfire front window molding fell off and hit driver. Consumer states that the molding from the front window fell off and hit him while he was driving with the top down. He states that this could cause a serious accident.
Design of vehicle did not allow for camber adjustment to front tires unless a weld is cut and a new piece is installed. Therefore, over time the camber of the tires can became such that the front tires wear on the inside edge that cannot be seen by the owner of the vehicle during a normal walk around inspection. This places the owner of the vehicle in a position that a tire which appears to be in good condition when inspected, may blow out without notice when at highway speeds. It would seem that a manufacturer's design that requires a weld to be cut and a new part installed at a later date to allow for a simple tire alignment adjustment and may lead to a potential tire failure until discovered by the owner, is not a vehicle design which incorporates a high degree of safety engineering.
