1 Automatic Transmission problem of the 1996 Chrysler LHS

Failure Date: 03/16/2005

I am having problems with the transmission down shifting on it's own at low speeds. Also the vehicle keeps veering to the right and left. Have replaced the control arms two times due to break of bushings. The bolts attaching the steering rack do not keep it secured to the chassis and moves as the steering wheel is operated. There was a recall issued for the suspension control arm bracket in 1999. I have not been notified of this recall and need to know how to receive notification to have the part replaced. The vehicle's manufacture date on the driver's door indicates the manufacture date August/1995.

2 Automatic Transmission problem of the 1999 Chrysler LHS

Failure Date: 01/31/2004

Our 1999 Chrysler Lhs suffered what our mechanic said was a "catastrophic" transimission failure. The service engine light came on and the transmission stopped shifting properly and remained in low gear. The transmission had to be completely re-built and the system flushed due to the large volume of metal shavings. Because this happen outside the 3/36,000 warranty period, Chrysler would not cover the cost of the repairs.

3 Automatic Transmission problem of the 1999 Chrysler LHS

Failure Date: 11/20/2003

When key is not in the ignition gear shifter can be moved to any position.

4 Automatic Transmission problem of the 1997 Chrysler LHS

Failure Date: 07/26/2002

Not long after buying this used vehicle with about 95,000 miles, I noticed a shudder when I got up to about 40 mph. Now after driving only 20,000 miles it won't upshift after being driven for about 30 minutes and shudders at take off. The dealership won't bill Chrysler for the $2100 tranny repair. I can't afford to be without a vehicle, and a repair bill in that amount or another car payment may put me under. This is very stressing. This is the newest used car I've owned and I thought it'd be reliable. I'll never buy a Chrysler again.

5 Automatic Transmission problem of the 1999 Chrysler LHS

Failure Date: 04/18/2002

On 4-18-02 my wife was backing our 1999 Lhs Chrysler out of our drive onto a busy highway, the shifter cable on the transmission malfunctioned, leaving the vehicle stranded inn the middle of the highway. My mechanic called our local Chrysler dealership to order the part and the service dept. Told us that there was over 600 on backorder for the n. C. And va. Service area. Well, how many were in circulation before the supply ran out??? I called Chrysler customer care about any recalls on the mannner and there were none and the person at Chrysler said that it would not be recalled. I think this is a very dangerous situation and should be investigated. The vehicle can be stranded, unable to move, in some very dangerous situatuions and could harm the occupants.
