general problems of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica - part 1

I was driving on the highway, and my lights all lit up, car stalled, and my dash board said no bus.

Took a short drive. Turned off the vehicle. After a couple minutes smoke and flames were coming out of the hood. Grabbed a fire extinguisher opened the hood and put out the fire on the passenger side. The air filter housing was melted. Embers were still spreading along the insulation attached to the hood. Manually removed the spreading embers with some tools. Not sure the cause. Also why is the insulation made of a material that is not fireproof?.

Tl- the contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving approximate 55 mph in the rain the dashboard instrument panel lights and the abs sensor light began to flash off and on and the windshield wipers stop working before the vehicle suddenly jolted forward and stalled. The next day after restarting the engine the vehicle operated as normal. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer was not notified. The failure mileage was 150,000. Jft.

Car exploded while parked after driving.

The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at 10 mph, the accelerator pedal was being depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact also stated that there was a hard shift when the vehicle shifted between the gears. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the air intake needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however the failure recurred, intermittently. The contact also stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the vehicle was jump started however, the vehicle would stall. The vehicle towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the tcm needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.

I drove to my friends house, and 15 minutes later my car was engulfed in flames! the fire chief said it was an electrical problem that started the fire. My car was not running, and I was not in it.

2 times I have had my running and the doors lock. I had to call a locksmith. Now the locks go on and off and the headlight and inside lights come on when turned off? this has happened when car was in park but also the locking and unlocking while driving.

The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. Np.

When we purchased the car I noticed when I selected the seat setting it said it was set. When I went to drive the vehicle again I selected seat one and it had the error messages as in the pictures.

My vehicle, while in motion on a city street, became uncontrollable. This happened when I accidentally hit the key in the ignition and it turned it to the off position. I suddenly lost control of the steering, brakes and nearly my mind! luckily I was able to get the car into neutral and roll to a stop. I feel lucky to have gotten out of the situation with my life! if I had been on a busier street, going at a faster speed, I am certain the situation would have lead to dire consequences.

I was driving and my children smelled smoke. I pulled over and opened the hood and saw a fire. A stranger stopped and tried putting it out with a fire extinguisher but it caught on so quickly that there was no chance. I suffered a complete loss since the entire car was engulfed in flames.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the control module box was destroyed. In addition, the wire harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 128,000.

Technician found perforation on the front subframe/cradle area estimated cost to replace $ 2,566. 62.

All of the dash lights, abs, break, interior lights, headlights have been flickering for a solid 3 days. I was driving at night on a non-lit stretch of road when all my lights went out, inside and out with a car approaching from the other direction. I tried to use my high beams and they were out too. I had my children and had to pull over. I have read reviews and this seems to be a huge problem with these cars yet no recall? why? this is so dangerous! this is my main vehicle I drive for work and with my family. I know am scared to drive it and what people have stated its hard and expensive to fix!.

I bought this 2004 Pacifica from a dealer about a month ago. Took it to the shop to get my shocks looked at and they told me they wouldn't do any work on it because the sub frame was rotted so badly they advised me not to drive or put any money into the vehicle because it is a safety issue. Also there is clicking coming from the steering wheel when you turn left or right. And also a week after I purchased the vehicle the blower motor resister is bad.

The vehicle was being driven when suddenly smoke starts coming from the engine compartment pulled over to check under the hood and flames began coming out closed the hood and the vehicle just burned down to the ground called 911 firefighter came and put out the fire it was all so fast its unreal.

A follow up to earlier safety complaint. Just ordered a computer for the affected vehicle and while describing the problem to the tech was informed that it is a well known problem affecting not only my Pacifica but their town and country Mini van as well.

My husband was driving and suddenly the car started smoking we pulled over, the fire fighters were called. They had to break the dashboard in order to stop the fire. They spray the car with water inside and out. Car was total. The fire fighters thought that it was possibly the wire that stared the fire. Radio and light on dashboard did not work in one point, it started working again by itself.

On numerous occasions I will be driving my car and it will just stall out completely. I have no control over my car. There is no inclination that it is even going to happen. I have almost wrecked my car. At higher speeds my car jerks and stutters and will randomly shut off too. I will be stopping to make a right or left turn and my car will stall out and I have almost wrecked my car with my four children in the car!!!!!!! I see there is a recall on some Chrysler Pacifica's for this exact problem, but for some reason it is not on mine and it is a major issue!!! I am very concerned with my family's safety when driving my car.

Dash heater control panel--lamps for several functions have ceased working--blower fan, air conditioning, circulation/recirculation, front window defrost and rear window defrost making adjustments or changes at night impossible. There is no way to change bulbs according to the manufacturer service/shop manual. Additionally, the function status (led) panel fades out leaving no information for what function is working, or what the status is, thus making changes impossible at anytime. Inability to control environment--specifically the functions concerning visibility make the vehicle a hazard to drive when the controls are inoperative or impossible to use.

Starting in 2011 my Pacifica's electrical systems seem to be shutting down. First I lost the ability to open windows or use power locks on the passenger side. Next I lost the cruise control function. Now my check engine light appears intermittently. Most recently the air bag light and alarm comes on but only intermittently.

Have a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica I've had this truck for two years, I've always had a problem with the gas running out like water. I took my truck to Chrysler for them to do a tune up, while there I told them about the problem. When I got back to pick upmy truck they told me that both of my fuel pumps were bad. It seems like they know what's wrong with these trucks and they just decided to tell everyone their fuel pumps are bad. Anyway, I had the fuel pumps changed and the problem got worse. Now if I put $10 in it the gauge will read 1/2 tank. If I fill it up once it gets to 1/2 tank it'll just drop to the e. Once it reads e it cuts off. There could be a full tank of gas but it will still read e. I took it back to Chrysler so many times they couldn't find anything wrong. The last time I went back up there, they said I need to replacethe whole tank. I know for a fact that replacing the tank won't fix it. To add to that, while I'm pumping gas the gas foams or it kicks back. I refuse to keep paying my money for them to keep playing the guessing game. If my truck shuts down completely or cause an accident I'm suing Chrysler and everyone else!!! Chrysler needs to fix the issue, there is a defect. I even called headquarters and they're saying they can't help because the truck is so many years old, and because of the mileage. Thing is they knew what was wrong with these trucks. Chrysler needs to fix this issue! !!!!!.

Engine shuts off while driving the vehicle. Three separate occurrences, most recently on February 12,2010.

The blower switch is stuck on the highest mode and I am unable to turn off the blower and the blower will continue to run for about 10 seconds after engine is shut off. Thus when I start my car the blower is on high . The car is a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. Has there been any reports from other owners with this issue? the dealer, jolly john in saco maine, says they will need to remove my dashboard to determine what is causing this and will cost approximately, at least $1,000. 00.

The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving various speeds the vehicle would suddenly stall without warning. The failure occurred on an intermittent basis. The vehicle was towed to a dealer who advised her that the control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and advised her that there were no recalls. The failure mileage was approximately 109,700.

Incident occurred four times over last two days. Driving on urban divided highway at approximately 55 mph at steady speed on a flat, relatively straight section of highway, fuel gauge began fluctuating. Fluctuations of the needle swung from the current fuel state of just over indicated half tank of fuel to the completely empty indication. Low fuel warning light illuminated when needle fell below the critical point for illumination. Other swings of the needle ranged from current state to anything below the current state and returned to proper indication. No fuel was lost. No leaks. N each incident, after approximately three minutes of erroneous readings, the fuel gauge returned to normal indications.

07/05/07 customer reported blower motor noisy, Chrysler checked and found blower motor noisy and replaced the blower motor. Cost to customer $179. 00. On 08/11/10 blower motor noisy on high speeds, Chrysler removed and replaced the blower motor. Cost to customer $256. 00. On 07/05/12 customer experiencing same problem with noisy blower motor. Will need to take vehicle to dealer to have blower motor replaced again.

Car stalls for no apparent reason.

2004 Chrysler Pacifica--repeated service issues including gas tank, gas cap/vapor lock, electrical.

The Chrysler Pacifica 2004 is an extremely dangerous vehicle. The car stalled three times on me on the highway where I nearly got into an accident. Another time, the right axle came off and the car rolled down a hill and nearly hit a woman. I could have killed people many times with the Pacifica since it is an extremely dangerous vehicle to drive. I found out that many people have these exact same issues. Please do something about it before it gets too late. Thank you.

This vehicle has had the siphoning hoses to the gas tank replaced three times. Which all three failed all three times. The fuel pump has been changed. The whole fuel tank has been replaced. The gas gauge fluctuates from half tank to empty. The check engine light comes on every week. After resetting by the serviceman it comes back on with in a week. All of these safety defects have been repaired however it remains doing all of the above leaving this vehicle to be very unsafe. Please note this so that any others may have this to refer to.

2005 Chrysler Pacifica stalled when I was making a left hand turn. I put it in park and then started it back up. Dealership said that they would look at it on Monday, which is 4 days away. I know that other people have had this same problem. I just hope that it can get fixed before someone gets hurt. I will let you know what the resolution is, although I know they are going to say that they couldn't duplicate the problem, and send me on my way.

Our 2004 Chrysler Pacifica sometimes will not start and when is does sometimes it dies when you are driving it down the road. The dealership and Chrysler tells me unless the problem happens for the garage they can not fix it. Even if that means at some point in time it dies and we crash.

Transmission unit failure. Has been to the dealer 3 times that I can remember. Clicking popping noise in the transmission or axle. "fixed" 3 times 2) 3 electrical problems a) display for heating and ac went out. It was repaired b) display for message center went out. It was repaired c) the gas guage would "go empty" then "refill" all while driving. It was repaired 3) now I just found gear oil on my garage floor, the rear axle seals are leaking. I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow.
