Engine stalls for no reason indicated by engine codes. Vehicle was coming to a stop. Was backing up once. Just idling and stalled. Sometimes when driving it feels as if nothing is happening when I attempt to accelerate. Has done this before the date submitted. Different dates.
Engine cradle rusting on a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, I found it during an oil change.
I have a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica had new brakes struts done was told my engine cradle is rusted so bad one pothole bump in road my engine could drop out of car endangering my family.
Engine cradle rot.
Car started on fire under engine and burned completely down to steal frame. Was driving to akron ohio from cedar springs mi. Half way through our five hour trip I filled up my gas tank in luna pier OH to continue on. Checked all fluids n temp was fine as well got back on hwy went less then 3 miles and smelled something burning and two poof's of smoke cane from under dash on drivers side and I immediately pulled over to side of hwy, my bf got out n looked under car and there was a small fire, the fire spread very swiftly and was unable to save any personal property we had taken for our weekend getaway. 911 was called n firemen were dispatched as well as paramedics for my bf that had been burned during the incident trying to put the fire out. . We onky had plpd insurance and did not get reimbursed for personal property at all. Not only did we lose the entire vehicle but we lost several personal items we had taken with ys, the Pacifica was packed full.
Engine stalling during operation. Took to pierce auto center in sagle idaho problem was not rectified.
Sub frame engine cradle rusted to the point the mechanic advised it was not safe to drive any longer. Japanese metal coating issue or Chrysler recall needed? I brought the vehicle in thinking I have a cv shaft going out as it made noise when turning. The mechanic showed me the frame on both side are rusted through and the frame is twisting. The repair would cost more than the worth of the vehicle. We have owned this vehicle since brand new and taken very good care of it. Even the body is rusting badly. Check out the attached news investigation on this issue. . Read more...
While going down the highway at 70mph to pick up my son from school the vehicle stopped accelerating (just after putting a half a tank of gas in) and sputtered a bit like it was running out of gas. It would not start back up again and after my husband inspected it and tested the fuel system, says it is not getting fuel to the motor! if I weren't driving where I was and able to pull off on the side of the road I could have killed someone else (like my small child or someone else) or been killed myself. Very scary and awful!.
Bought my 2004 Pacifica from a dealership used on June 5 2017 at that time I had the oil changed at the dealership the next day. Nothing said about the cradle almost rusted off on right side. Took Pacifica to get tires cause I planned a 1500 mile trip in a few days and wanted good tires. Needless to say besides $400 in tires I had to put $1800 into parts and labor for struts, tie rods, arms, brake pads, rotors and valve stems. Was shown the rusted cradle that was 3/4 rusted through and told it should get changed but the vehicle was safe to take on my trip. While driving when going 25-35mph with my foot on the gas pedal it chugs like its not getting gas and have also noticed it now when going 55 and taking my foot off the gas pedal it doing the same thing. There's been 4 or so times the fuel indicator has gone down to empty and back up again once while idling in a construction zone and almost died twice. Needless to say brought the vehicle to the dealership for an oil change October 3, they changed oil and did an inspection- my vehicle is no longer safe and need to talk to the dealer who sold me the vehicle. Right side of cradle totally rusted off. So why did they even sell the car when they knew it was unsafe or even sell me part because it was unsafe? dealerships and tire dealerships taking advantage of older people and women! I will be going into both these places and needless to say still paying on the repair with their credit card. I cannot drive an unsafe vehicle and put a few more thousand dollars into it. I also had a new battery put in cause not even a week after purchasing it it wouldn't start and needed an interstate battery! I cannot believe Chrysler is being so negligent about putting a recall on these vehicles. I've only owned Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth vehicles the 44years I been driving.
About two months ago I noticed the passenger side floor carpeting was getting wet every time it rained. I took the car to my auto mechanic and determined that the sub frame is coroded from rust and the floor is also damaged with holes in it also caused by rust - the mechanic told me the car could not be salvaged and should be taken to the junk yard since "the car is a ticking time bomb and is extremely unsafe to drive as the sub frame could brake at anytime causing death or serious bodily injury" - I decided to get a second opinion so I contacted an auto body specialist and was given an estimate for $5000 - $6000 to replace subframe and repair the floor damage - I then checked the internet to see if anyone else was having similar issues and discovered there are thousands of chryler Pacificas built from 2004 to 2008 that also have sub frame and cradle rot issues that can cause the engine to drop out of the car but there has been no safety recalls - in conclusion, I dont understand how there are so many of these cars that clearly have a manufactures defect but aren't being recalled due to the serious safety issues found and why Chrysler hasn't had to do anything about it - finally, please note that I am the original owner that purchased the car new in Feb 2005 - the car only has 64,000 miles and is driven locally with only 5,000 miles put on it each year - the body of the car is very good condition and is also very well maintained - I have all service records including $4400 worth of work done in just the past three years alone including new tires, brakes (pads and rotors), exhaust system (cataytic convertor and muffler) tie rods, battery, oil pan, hoses, belts and more. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions.
Engine motor mount, cradle rot, rusted, just found this out when taking in for a brake check up, unrepairable and can no longer drive, just purchased in December 2016.
Engine cradle/frame rusted through and it cost 1739. 85 to replace.
Our car has been very well taken care of and is in otherwise great condition, but the shop said undercarriage is rusting out so they won't pass it for inspection. I do not even have it paid off so I def. Cannot afford another car! it is so sad that so many are affected and nothing is being done about this issue. Chrysler was negligent and should have to be held liable.
The engine cradle rusted and had to be replaced so that the engine did not fall out of the car. Evidently, there was a technical service bulletin for this problem to extend the warranty but that was superseded by another TSB indicating that only Pacifica's manufactured from Feb 23, 2004 to March 31, 2004 are covered. Our Pacifica was manufactured in April, 2003. This is a very common problem with this vehicle and is a safety hazard. The vehicle had a vibration and when I had it checked the mechanic indicated that the engine cradle was rusting through and needed to be replaced or the engine would fall out of the car.
My 2004 Chrysler Pacifica has been taken care of to the max. A resent observation my mechanic revealed the front undercarriage is rotted out and not safe to drive. Being a single women the expense to fix this problem is very disturbing. My vechicle has 120,000 miles on it, and of course it does not meet warrenty requirements. I cannot believe Chrysler did not stand by their products being the fact that so many car owners have had the same issue. A car with 120,000 miles on it should not have a rust problem like this.
I was driving and my children smelled smoke. I pulled over and opened the hood and saw a fire. A stranger stopped and tried putting it out with a fire extinguisher but it caught on so quickly that there was no chance. I suffered a complete loss since the entire car was engulfed in flames.
Takata recall vehicle will not stay fired up as soon as soon as throttle is relased car dies immediately, sometimes not starting back up for 15-40 minutes, replaced idle air control, replaced throttle postion sensor, replaced all spark plugs, ran a fuel cleaner, and replaced alternator, car still will not stay turned over and still will nnot idle, if throttle and rpm drop car wil die in traffic sitting in drive way hasn't matterd where happens everywhere.
The front subframe known as the "engine cradle" is severely rusting out. This is a known issue by Chrysler on 2004-2005 Pacificas. There was an inadequate coating of the metal which leads to premature rusting. In 2010 Chrysler issued an extended warranty for this, but only for cars built in a six week period in 2004. This only covered a small fraction on the cars affected. Chrysler never sent information to owners warning of this or offering suggestions on maintenance of this issue. As a result, thousands of Pacifica owners like myself are left with cars unsafe to drive and unable to sell because of the severity of the issue. The response from Chrysler (fac) when you contact them is "sorry, it is not under warranty".
I took my car in an oil change on 08-28-15 and the auto mechanic called to tell me how unsafe my car is -the subframe is rusting and falling apart! totally unsafe to drive and that it should be fixed ASAP. The cost of this repair is $4000 -well above the car's worth. There was recall, but only for a certain number of vehicles -my VIN not included. This is a known problem for Chrysler and yet there is no recall on this unsafe condition. My engine can fall out as I am driving around my family! help!! what is my recourse?.
I went to go wash my 2004 Pacifica and when I got down on my hands and knees to wash the tires I noticed some rust under car so I got on my back and looked under my car and noticed my whole subframe was completely rusted out on both sides. I'm not to happy and I feel as if their should be a law suit filed. I have since read complaints and so far I havnt come across one person who lives in a snow state were the roads are salted in winter who have not had a rusted sub frame on their Pacifica. I don't know what the hold up is with Chrysler fixing what they sold to us!!!.
I took my pacifca to the parkway dealer at 21560 hall road clinton twp mi 48038 due to a stalling issue. 586 465 7262. Usually early morning after first starting the car, then driving a short distance. The car would either stall out or the engine would rev and attempt to accelerate. When trying to accelerate on it's own, I needed to put firm pressure on the brakes to hold it in check. The technicians at parkway failed to successfully analyze and diagnose the stalling and unintended acceleration issues. Instead, he told me the vehicle was not safe to drive to due severe engine cradle (subframe) rot. 2 channels - lower portion have rusted through. After investigating this issue, I found that it is common among Pacificas manufactured in 2004/2005. I addressed this concern with the dealer to no avail. I also raised a case with Chrysler customer service and they also refused to do anything to replace the subframe, despite acknowledging a warranty extension letter issued for 2004/2005 Pacificas because of the subframe problems and also a service bulletin.
Engine cradle is rusted through. Mechanic told me the engine could fall out. Very dangerous to drive. I bought it from a dealer that gave the vehicle a clean safety inspection even with the dangerous engine cradle. I reported the problem just a few months after buying the car but the dealership said that it was something I would have to take up with Chrysler. Chrysler and the dealership (ernie von schledorn) I bought the car from, refuse to repair or accept responsibility.
While in for an oil change I was informed that the engine cradle has rusted through. I was told the same thing last year also. I was informed that now it has rusted through to where it may not be safe to drive since the engine could shift on the rusted engine cradle and cause an accident. Looking online I see that many 2004, 2005 Pacificas have this problem and many have been told by Chrysler corp. , as I was last year, that my vehicle was not manufactured within the 2 months where they say they had manufacturing problems and had fixed those that they say were defective. Chrysler has repaired many Pacifica engine cradles, according to information online, but only after having an outside investigating agency like a tv station or other entity getting involved. This apparently is a dangerous situation that Chrysler does not want to address with a recall or repair. My request for repair is on file with Chrysler corp. From my contact with them last year.
Service appointment to repair ac, when mechanic noticed subframe badly rusted. Determined to need replacement as soon as possible. Vehicle outside of noted extended warranty arrangement for 2005. This is a major safety hazard that should be under a recall. I was told subframe may be replaced at cost; checking with Chrysler dealership in mn.
The engine cradle of the 2004 Pacifica has rusted severely. One side appears to be all the way through while the other side is about 3/4 of the way through. Vehicle is unsafe to drive.
Every 3,000 miles a oil change and regular maintaince to my car has been done, in April of this year when they put it on the lift noticed all the big rust holes underneath. The macanic did not want me to leave with it said it was not safe. Within a month it is busted.
I was feeling a shimmy in the car when I was going downhill and applying my brakes. I took it to my mechanic where he lifted it up and discovered that the sub frame rotted in half and is falling apart. His advice was no to drive it until it was repaired because the part that is almost rusted through holds up the rear of the engine and the front of the transmission. He said it was unsafe to drive in the condition it is in and with it being a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica with 115252 miles on it there should not be this much rust. I immediately contacted Chrysler group llc and was informed that they can only go by my VIN number and that with my VIN number there were no recalls about this problem and that there was nothing she could do.
I was driving at about 30 mph when the car completely shut down. The car was then jumped and I tried to drive it around the corner and it completely shut down again this time losing all control. . . No brakes or steering. I almost crashed into the cars that were parked. These cars are death traps and need to be recalled! the whole frame is also rotting out. In a perfect world I would just run out and buy a new car but I am a mother of 3 and that's just not able to happen right now. I'm not even sure if the car can be repaired. It had to be towed to 2 different mechanics and I haven't heard back whether or not it can be fixed! someone needs to step up to the plate and hold Chrysler accountable! I've had nothing but problems since day one and when I put my v. I. N # in it says there are no recalls on my car. . . . That's a joke! this car is a lemon!.
I have a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, I love the way the car handles. But it is costing me a fortune. I recently took it to be inspected and was told that the engine cradle has rotted on the passenger side. I have replaced the front suspension, stabilizers, and brakes numerous times in the last couple of years now the engine cradle needs to be replaced and there is no recall on it, yet it is an extreme safety problem. This is a replacement that could cost up to $4000. It is just not worth the trouble.
Bought car in for routine oil change and was informed of severe rust on k frame assembly and that car was dangerous to drive.
This veichle engine cradle assembly is rusty with in 8 years of operation. Rusty engine cradle causes saftey concern for the driver and other veichles operating near 2004 Chrysler Pacifica on the road because the engine can fall out of the veichle during operation. Many Pacifica oweners on line complained about this issue.
My Pacifica has a rusted out sub frame on front passenger side of car. From my understanding there was a recall done for those but only included 6 weeks worth of vehicles made but the problem is much broader than the 6 weeks worth of cars. I have been told by 3 different reputable mechanics that my car is unsafe to drive because it is so rusted through you can put your hand through it. I have 3 small children and this is our family car. Chrysler needs to be held accountable for this before there are people that die because their engine falls out while they are driving! I do have pictures that were taken yesterday. Something needs to be done about this!.
I took my 2004 Chrysler Pacifica to have routine maintanence done on it. I was told from my mechanic that my frame was rusty, rotten and had holes in it. He went on to say that it is dangerous to be driving as the frame of the car in an accident will not be effective and would basically crumble. He said to immediately take it to a Chrysler dealership and have them look at it. I took it as told to the dealership and they did confim my mechanics finding. They handed me a phone # to Chrysler. I called and got the run around again and again. Yes they are aware of the problem, but my car isnt included in the 7000 to be fixed. But yes it has the same issues, but no we cant help you. It is a $2500 fix that Chrysler is well aware of. I have poured over online articles, news casts, all concluding the same thing. Some get fixed and some dont. I was told by my dealership to file a comlaint, keep on complaining and hope Chrysler will help. It is a safety concern in driving my car, there is no safety in my car right now, nor is there any value to my car as even the dealership has told me. . . They cannot take it in on trade or anything else for that matter as it is unsafe. Help!!!! it appears that only the people that get any help are the ones that go to the press/news etc.
Had a vibration. Took the vehicle in for inspection and the front subframe/ engine cradle is corroded and has a huge rust hole. A friend of mine has one of these. They got theirs inspected and theirs has an issue too!!.
Severe engine cradle perforation due to corrosion which has made operating the vehicle unsafe. The engine cradle (sometimes called the k-member) is corroded to the extent that the stresses and loads from driving and braking are likely to cause the engine cradle to fail catastrophically. The attached photos show the corrosion and perforation damage. This is not a customer maintenance issue.
