Failure Date: 10/11/2017

While going down the highway at 70mph to pick up my son from school the vehicle stopped accelerating (just after putting a half a tank of gas in) and sputtered a bit like it was running out of gas. It would not start back up again and after my husband inspected it and tested the fuel system, says it is not getting fuel to the motor! if I weren't driving where I was and able to pull off on the side of the road I could have killed someone else (like my small child or someone else) or been killed myself. Very scary and awful!.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2013

When I bought it I drove it 20 feet to gas station. The gas tank said I had half a tank of gas. Once I was done I turned the car back on and it said I had no gas! I called the guy who sold it to me and he said it just takes time for it to regrister that I filled it up so I drove it back to him to show him what I was talking about when he got there it said I had half a tank and he told me to drive it home I would be fine! well on the way home it said I had 20 mile till empty but the last thing it showed on gas tank was that I still was at half take so I filled it up agin. I took the car to my brothers which is 35 miles from fargo to have him see if he could fix the pumps but he couldn't so I got back on interstate goin 75 mph to go home and the gas light flickered and the car went from 75 to 0 in like 2 seconds. Resulting in myself bashing my head on steering wheel and no air bags went off either! my husband came to get me and brought gas cans to get me enough gas to make it to a gas station! it took us 58 min exactly to fill the tank completely full so I could make it back home. So the next day I called back and they eventually had me take it to lundes in fargo to fix the gas tank which took 1 month almost 2, so when I got it back multiple times in between that time it was still happening! finally they fix it except the fact that a year later it's happening all over agin! which was 5 days ago on my way to jamestown with my children in the car! I have called many of places and nobody knows how to fix it. If I go back to lundes they said they had no idea why it would happen agin! and how long it would take them to figure it out! it would have happened earlier if I actually drove the car more but ever since the accident when I drive that car I can't stop checking how full the tank is! something needs to be done before someone gets into a serious accident with that car!.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2009

I own a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. I am having a major issue with the fuel gauge. The gauge shows 1/2 full and then the next thing you know is that it drops to empty and you run out of gas. I took the car to the dealership over a month ago and was told that the parts would be in a few days. This issue is dangerous as you run out of gas without a method of knowing what is going on. In addition, when you attempt to fill the tank with gas, it continues to pop avoiding you from putting gas in the car. I can take up to 30 minutes to force 1/2 tank of gas in the car to where the gauge will show the car full.

12 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2007

I purchased my '04 Pacifica used with 44k miles on it. The day after buying the vehicle the fuel gauge dropped from half tank to completely empty then would bounce back to half full. It did it several more times and when I returned it to the local dealer it was purchased from they were unable to find any problems and there were no diagnostic codes set by this encounter. The vehicle when for a few weeks without having it happen again but I was sure to keep the tank nearly full. Yet within the last week it began doing it again with much more frequency. I did some on line research and came up with a recall on the sending units and when I called a Chrysler dealership asking about the recall and giving the service person my VIN I was told there was no info matching my VIN. So I went back to my purchasing dealer and when I brought the car in I was told that it was a fuel sensor and that it would be taken car of. So after having no use of my car for a few days I picked it up this evening thinking it was repaired and low and behold I was barely out of the dealers lot and the same fuel gauge issues are once again occurring. I find it hard to believe that my particular Pacifica isn't experiencing the same issues that are part of the recall info that I was able to get online. I feel that Chrysler is doing a disservice to it's customers by not taking care of this problem seeing as it appears to be a large scale problem from what I have been seeing online.

13 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2007

1. Driving on tropicana Ave going 30 mph when all the sudden I heard a knock sound and I started smelling fuel. I pulled over and inspected the vehicle an notices a small steel object sticking out of the gas tank and fuel was leaking all over the place. When I called the dealership I find out our warranty doesn't cover the repair, nor would they help in any way with a loaner car. All the money we spend to get slapped in the face with something that was in no way our fault. I figure any type of protection to the gas tank would have prevented this from happening, or even perhaps relocating the gas tank as it sits way to low to the ground as it is.

14 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2005

I purchased this vehicle due to reports stating how safe it is. First problem will just stop running. There were no warnings or anything. It has done this on 8 times the first being two months after I purchased the vehicle. The dash board will just not turn on and the fog light indicator no longer comes on. The dealership replace something for a recall dealing with the gas tank and not my gas light continuously flashes on even though I have plenty of gas. The gas needle starts going up and down continuously then stops. This happens about twice a day. I feel I am stuck with a lemon because each time the dealer tells me that they can't find anything and to being it back if it acts up again. I have a very busy life.
