1 Engine problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2011

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while having the vehicle serviced by an authorized dealer for routine maintenance, she was informed that the motor mount needed to be replaced. If not replaced, the motor mount could possibly separate from the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The contact began to feel a vibration coming from an unknown location after the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where they were unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000.

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact was driving 10 mph when he smelled a burning odor from the engine. The contact pulled over to look under the hood and discovered that a fire had ignited in the engine and also underneath the vehicle. The fire department was called to extinguish the fire. A fire report was not filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed from the scene. The cause of the fire was unknown. The vehicle was not inspected for the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 133,000.

3 Engine problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2010

Engine mounts are bad - one is missing. This is a problem with many Pacifica owners. Abs light came on - this is how it was diagnosed. We have only done urban/highway driving with this vehicle.

4 Engine problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2010

I went to a local service/repair facility and was told that the front motor mount on my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica needs to be replaced. Upon some research on-line, I noticed that this is a common problem with this vehicle.

5 Engine problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2009

On my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, the motor mounts seem to be substandard and require replacement at a higher interval than normal. While this may not seem like a huge issue initially, a failed motor mount is a reason to reject a vehicle inspection in the state of va. Shortly after purchasing the car used 2 years ago, I needed to replace a failed motor mount, now, 2 years later and with the car having less than 65,000 miles I am having to replace a motor mount again. The real issue now seems to be that Chrysler as a whole is out of stock as there is a national backorder in effect at the moment. The fact that this part is on a national backorder makes me feel as if they are being replaced by many other Pacifica owners. Research online has shown that the motor mounts fail on the Pacifica approximately every 30,000 miles.

6 Engine problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2008

High level of failure of motor mounts in Chrysler Pacifica. Unable to get replacement parts due to 1000's being on back order. Started trying to locate and purchase motor mounts in 11/08. Paid for the replacement motor mounts at a Chrysler dealership in 1/09 and as of 6/09/09 motor mounts are still unavailable. I don't know what the safety ramifications are, other than if the mounts were to fail completely while driving down the highway 65 miles per hours in traffic. . . While I first became aware of the motor mount issue around 11/08, the motor mounts apparently were damaged before then.

7 Engine problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2008

I began having a problem about 2 months ago with my abs light coming on. It would come on and turn off randomly. Recently the light came on permanently and my brakes began grinding. We took it to the dealer and were told that the abs sensor is bad. Not only that, but the motor mounts cracked and must be replaced. My vehicle is only 3 years old, and has 47000 miles on it. After doing some research, I have found that both of these issues are a common problem on this make and model vehicle. The dealer that we purchased it from admitted that this is a problem, but I was not able to find any recall information regarding either problem. I feel that both problems are dangerous, since the brakes did not work properly in my situation. If cracked motor mounts are not taken care of, they could possibly cause additional damage to the engine components. I think that Chrysler should be held responsible for fixing these problems at their cost. I've seen many other people complaining that even after they've "fixed" the problem, they continue to have the same problem. I think both of these items should be considered for recall.

8 Engine problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2007

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. While accelerating to 5 mph from the idle position, the vehicle completely shut off. The contact restarted the vehicle, but it began to hesitate. The check engine indicator light illuminated prior to the vehicle shutting off. The vehicle was driven home slowly and brought to a dealer the following week. The vehicle has been at the dealer for two weeks. The dealer stated that the vehicle had multiple failures, but no repairs had been made. The vehicle was still waiting to be repaired. The current mileage was 26,525 ,and failure mileage was 26,435.

9 Engine problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2006

Shut down engine while driving.

10 Engine problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2005

On 19 October 2005, I had just completed a left hand turn and came to a somewhat abrupt stop at a stop light. After the light turned green, I hit the gas but the car would not move. I noticed that I lost my power steering for the steering wheel felt heavy. The dashboard lights were on but I did not notice any warning lights on the dashboard. The cd player was still playing nor did it pause when this occurred. Uncertain as to whether the car was off or not, I turned the key to the "off" position and restarted the engine. The vehicle operated properly after the incident. However, I became concerned about driving on the highway at higher speeds fearing that it would happen again.
