2 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2016

Gas gauge fluctuates to empty with light and chime announcing no gas, but there is a three quarter tank full of gas. The engine turns off and steering locks without power. Used car purchased yesterday and we were stranded until we filled the tank with three gallons the car was in motion the first time it stalled. The second time it was idling at a stop light. The third time was in a parking lot. I turned the engine off than back on it resumed . We were heading in a straight directions.

3 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2015

I put my car in reverse, yesterday and the car stalled. I just had a mechanic look at my car today and just found out the subframe of my Pacifica is rotted and cracked! I was told not to drive it because the engine is abnormally lifting up and slamming down on to the starter wire and causing sparks which could cause a fire! I'm surprised there isn't a recall on this already!!.

4 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

My vehicle began stalling while being driven on the street and highways, when turning and while stopped for light changes. Had to have battery "jumped" or charged several times. Battery had to be replaced twice because of discharged from alternator. Had alternator replaced. Battery continued to drained. Vehicle ran for one day and completely shut down while in motion. After jump starting the battery, vehicle ran for a couple of minutes. Was told by service mechanics, battery or alternator problems even after having those parts replaced. Finally had the vehicle towed to dealership that specialized in Chryslers and was shock when he stated it was the pcm (powertrain control module) which I believed and researched was part a recall for 2005 Pacificas in 2006. Told by the dealership that the fuel pump was fixed which is not the problem of this vehicle. The pcm is the problem, and the dealership is not owning this. I did not purchase the vehicle until 2010; so I honestly believed that this problem was not repair but claimed to had been. When referencing the recall notification (which I did not receive personally), the fuel pump problem was replaced for 2004 models not 2005 models. Pcm problems were that of the 2005 models which was not repaired or replaced for this vehicle. I have had my vehicle towed approximately 7 times now. I am still paying insurance for a vehicle that is unable to be driven. The dealership wants to charge me $1000 for repair, that is a little less that half of what the vehicle is worth.

6 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2015

I took my 2005 Pacifica for a routine oil change last week, and our mechanic discovered a large area of the engine cradle was completely rotted away on the passenger side of the undercarriage. He said it's not safe to drive until something is done to fix it, because the engine could fall out of the car at any time. After doing some research online, we discovered that we are not the only ones who have this problem on this make and model. We took the car to our local Chrysler dealer, and they will have to install a new engine cradle at an estimated cost of $2300. I then contacted Chrysler customer care, and they took a stance of plausible deniability, telling me that this is a problem unique to my Pacifica. I explained that there is irrefutable proof that it isn't unique to my vehicle. All Pacificas are prone to this failure. When I asked about the extension Chrysler issued for the warranty on Pacificas because of this very issue and why owners were never notified, the representative did not deny there was an extension; however, he informed me that my car is too old and well past any warranty mileage (which it isn't at 138,600 miles). At that point the representative became rude. When I asked to speak with a superior, he informed me there was no one else I could speak to on this issue and there is nothing Chrysler will do to assist me in the matter. All in all, I'm (1) alarmed that Chrysler is not addressing this significant safety hazard in this model, and (2) frustrated that they refuse to do anything to correct the problem. I'd even be happy with a compromise, for instance, if they would supply the part and we would pay for the labor, but they shut the door in my face. Hoping the NHTSA can investigate and call them to account for such shoddy construction.

7 Car Stall problem

Engine cradle corrosion has subjected vehicle and passengers to potentially catastrophic structural failure. Sub-frame is sufficiently rusted to result in frame bending. 11 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

There was a recall from Chrysler made for 2004-2005 Pacificas dealing with the engine cradle. They erouded and rusted through. Thousands upon thousand of cars were recalled. They than revoked it for a 2 month recall span. This problem has been deadly and faital and has affected thousands of familes. Chrysler refuses to fix the warranty that was organically wrote and sent out. They refuse to fix or acknowledge that the problem exist and is deadly for these people who drive the Pacifica as their " family transportation". In the past month my 2005 Pacifica has stalled out, died, had all roaders, breaks and control arms replaced. All new tires and now I find out my engine cradle has rusted out to where's its not drivable. Now the radio stopped working, the air wont turn on if blinkers are all, the entire electrical body has crapped out and Chrysler refuses to fix the problems they set the original recall for. There are thousands of people driving these cars with kids, what will it take for someone to fix this issue? death of thousands of kids? multiple accidents?.

12 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

2005 Chrysler Pacifica. Consumer writes in regards to engine and headlight problems. The consumer stated the vehicle stalled twice, within the last 3 years. Both times, he was making a hard turn, when the engine stopped. He wa able to maintain control of the vehicle and re-started it, without any problem. The vehicle was inspected by a mechanic, who found nothing wrong, other than throttle body build-up, which he cleaned. Also, the headlight would intermittently go out. The bulb did not seem to fit securely in the harness, which caused a short and eventually the bulb blew out. The problem seemed to be more prominent on the passenger side. The driver's side bulb was less than an ideal fit, but there were no problems with it going out. The bulb was replaced numerous times, along with the wiring harness.

15 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2012

While turning into the bank parking lot at 10mph the car just stalled. I was unable to brake or steer out the way. When gas gauge reads empty I am unable to fill the tank with gas as it begins to spill back out. Gas gauge reads 1/2 full when it is really empty? miles to empty sensor incorrect therefore I have no idea when I need gas. Driver side exterior headlamp seems dimmer than the other lamp. After repairing the entire front end(suspension) still sounds like the front end is going to fall apart when driving on ohio roads. Felt it was necessary to document as I do not feel safe in this car.

16 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2012

I was pulling into a left hand parking spot when the vehicle stalled/completely shut off. Dashboard lights were still on. I was able to coast backwards down a slope and back into another open parking spot. I had no power steering, and brakes were very hard to depress. I looked up the problem on the internet and looked up open recalls. I found a recall similar to what happened, but when I called both diamler-Chrysler and a local Chrysler dealership and gave the last 8 characters of my VIN, they informed me there were no open recalls for my vehicle. From what I researched, this might happen several times and I am quite concerned with my safety.

20 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2011

I have previously reported a problem with the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica stalling when turning. The problem has progressively worsened. This month alone, (December 2011) the car has stalled 5 times. I am afraid to drive the car for fear that I will crash when it stalls. There are so many Chrysler Pacifica owners that are reporting the same problem. Along with the stalling issue, the gas pedal sticks and needs to be pushed rather hard. A third problem I have encountered this year is the headlamps "burning out". I have replaced the front left headlamp three this year. I am familiar with the handling instructions for headlamps. I am greatly distressed by these problems, especially the stalling. I have children that I drive around in this car. Please do something about Chrysler's failure to fix this problem.

My wife was driving on a busy road in salt lake today on a downhill straightaway and our 2005 Chrysler Pacifica completely stalled. All electronics turned off. All power steering and brakes turned off. She had to push the brakes very hard to get the vehicle to a safe stop and coast to the side of the road. After a brief rest, she was finally able to restart the car and continue her journey, but I no longer feel safe with my wife and children in this car. I have a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica that has stalled several times while I was driving. Most recently it has happened twice in the past two days. One of the occasions was while I was merging onto the interstate. The first couple times this occurred over the past year I just dismissed the problem. Now that it seems to become more frequent, I am fearful that it could happen and someone will be hurt.

31 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2007

I am filing this complaint regarding my 2005 Pacifica awd. In Nov 06, the vehicle stalled couple of times in the middle of the highway and both times, we were very fortunate to avoid an accident. During the same time, we received a recall notice from Chrysler for the same problem and promptly took it to the warnock east hanover (NJ) dealer (same place where I purchased the vehicle) to fix it. They fixed the stalling recall issue and other minor issues and said that it's drivable now and assured me that it wouldn't happen again. Unfortunately, while I was driving today, it stalled again and nearly averted an accident. It's really scary to drive the vehicle any more. The vehicle has only 6000 miles on it as it has been primarily used to drop my daughter in school. Now, my wife does not want to drive it again as she is scared to death to drive it. I don't blame her as it has stalled three times so far and we cannot even imagine driving this vehicle again with such a humongous safety issue! right now, the vehicle was towed to the dealer and is sitting at the mercy of the dealership as I type this. . .

32 Car Stall problem

34 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2006

: the contact stated while slightly turning on to the ramp to enter to the highway at 5 mph during normal road conditions, the vehicle suddenly stalled and the engine completely shut down. There was no brake power nor power steering. Prior to the incident, the vehicle identified no warning signals. It was taken to a dealership, where they determined that the contact was using gasoline that contained more than 10% ethanol. The dealership was unable to determine any other causes for the problem.

35 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2006

Stall while vehicle moving. It happened multiple times while making left hand turns between April 06 and July 06. We had TSB fix 1803905 in Aug. 06. No problems until October 17, 2006 when it stalled again while driving at slow speed in a straight line. Now every time I drive in straight line or turn in front of cars I am very aware that my car may not be running. It is a very insecure feeling. \ thank you for your time with this matter.
