The engine cradle is very rusted.
I have been doing a lot of research on my vehicles problems with excessive rust in the subframe. A lot of other owners of this particular vehicle are having the same problems. I need to bring this up because it's getting to the point where I'm not feeling safe to drive it. Not sure if the manufactures didn't follow the proper steps on coating the undercarriage of a vehicle. I understand my vehicle is almost 12 years old, I expect some rust to be there but when you see holes big enough to stick your hand inside, it's a problem!! I really take good care of my vehicle and it's has a lot more to give, but this is unacceptable and unsafe. I have seen other vehicles around the same age and do not have such extense rot. I think the manufacturer should be held accountable for this.
Rusted engine cradle.
Rusted frame. So bad engine may fall out. Unable to drive.
My mechanic told me that my car has cradle rot, should not be driven. I went home did my research just to find out that this a common problem. Chyrsler is aware of the problem, they used substandard material to create the main frame that supports the engine. There are thousands of people driving a time bomb. How do I get my car fixed?.
I took my car into to have a suspension check o replaced the strurss when my mechanic called me and told my that the frame or engine cradle was rusted out. He took some pictures and there are holes in the cradle. He advised me not to put anymore money into this car.
Dealership informwd me after my 100,000 mile warranty was up and paying them 2000 dollars to repair other things that the engine cradel was rusted and was dangerous. They let me drive off the lot and I have been back for other repairs and the rust is getting worse. Chrysler told me there was only a few month period that they would warranty this problem. What can I do since I cannot afford to fix this problem?.
We had been on a road trip and were driving home. We were making a stop to get gas and saw smoke coming out from the engine area. We smelt something burning and found that the firewall insulation had fallen down on the catalytic converter and began to burn. We were able to get the insulation pull out and away from the converter before it caused major damage to the vehicle. If we had not stopped there would have been a fire and destroyed the vehicle. We contacted the Chrysler dealership and they said there was no recall and the part was obsolete and they could not do anything for us and also stated that the car was fine and could still be driven. The insulation is there for a reason and this was an unacceptable response from Chrysler. We have still been trying to get resolution from Chrysler and also called their care center and was given the same response that there was nothing they could do. And provided a phone number for a dealership that deals with mopar parts. Again was told that the part was obsolete and not available.
I bought a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica in may of 2016. When I took it to a garage due to a clunking sound in the front end it was discovered that the engine cradle was rusted through on both sides. Many areas under the car are very badly rusted like a car three times as old.
Car in for oil change. Informed front subframe complete rusted through. Not safe to drive. 2005 car only has 22634 miles. Research shows Chrysler aware of this problem and hundreds of complaint/class actions filed. States Chrysler missed step and did not coat engine cradle allowing severe rust damage. Estimate $3181. 85 and I want Chrysler to cover charges to fix. Info found says Chrysler only agreed to fix cars built during 2/23/04 - 3/31/04. Can you assist in getting chryster to do the right thing and fix at their own expense?.
2005 Chrysler Pacifica I purchased from original owner with only 63000 miles. Car while driving, car just accelerates to high speed on its own for no reason. Have to put it in neutral to avoid death or injury. Today while driving normally, all warning lights came on & we ended up stranded due to weird electrical failure where we can't even get car out of park. Passenger headlamp has gone out several times, now drive fog lamp out. There appears to be many mechanical & electrical failures with this car. It's truly horrifying how poorly engineered and dangerous these cars are & I'm forced to drive this wagon with my family as we can't afford to replace it. Would like to start a class action lawsuit against Chrysler for endangering the public with their dangerous cars. How many people need to die before all these Pacifica's are recalled and repurchased by Chrysler for book value?.
Vehicle sub-frame has rusted, engine cradle rusted. Car unsafe to drive. Why has a recall not been issued. I brought vehicle in for an oil change. If not informed by my mechanic the engine and transmission could have fallen out with disasterous consequences. A sub-frame should not rust out on a 10 year old vehicle.
My engine cradle is rusted/rotted out and completely unsafe to drive. I was told it can't pass inspection and will be approximately $2,000 to fix. My mechanic told me not to drive the car anymore, since the engine could fall out. After researching online, this is a very common problem with the 2005 Pacificas. Will there be a recall? would appreciate it if someone would get back to me ASAP, since I need my car to get to work. Thank you.
Front subframe/engine cradle rusted through could cause engine to fall while in operation. No service bullitons or recalls. Seems to be a known isdue with this vehicle.
Engine cradle rust. Oil change last week, mechanic said he would not let his wife drive this car. 190,000 miles, mechanically just fine, clean, no body rust. Engine cradle is a rotted, rusted mess. We may try to weld some thick steel to it in an effort to save the car. Nothing to lose at this point, cannot sell it and it's not worth much just sitting.
The engine cradle is rotted so bad the the engine is ready to fall out .
Chrysler Pacifica engine cradle rot. New york state dmv refuses to renew my registration due to yearly inspection failed. The safety of the vehicle due to the engine cradle rot. Salt corrosion.
Engine cradle rusted out and I've been told it is unsafe to drive. October 2015 I had my car towed to heritage Chrysler at 9219 harford road -baltimore, MD 21234 because it stopped running. I got it back in December 2015 after they put in a timing belt and replaced the engine. A week after getting it back I had a leak. I took it in and they told me that I needed to have a transmission axle seal replaced. I took it to glen burnie transmission to have the seal replaced and they would not do the work. They showed me how the engine cradle had rusted and they were afraid the engine cradle would break if they remove it. I was informed that it was unsafe to drive because I could hit a bump or pothole and loose the engine and transmission. They could not believe heritage Chrysler would put in an engine with the cradle looking like this. I called mr. Anderson (the service manager at heritage) and have yet to receive a return call back from him. I have the pictures taken of this problem I contacted Chrysler online and was told nothing can be done. Please help me get this problem fixed.
Driving down the road, our car started throwing itself into other lanes. Mind you, everything is good on the vehicle. Struts, tie rod ends, etc. . . Upon observation, you can see the engine cradle is rotted out. The rest of the car is good. Mechanics say the car needs to be removed from service. 130,000 miles. . . Really? this is our only car. Chrysler (online) says "tough". . . . .
During a routine oil change, my mechanic said the front frame and engine mounts were severely rusted and the car would become inoperable.
Rust through of engine cradle at various spots on engine cradle. I'm the original owner. The car has 80500 miles. Contacted fca via phone. Fca says my Pacifica does not fit the narrowly defined manufacture date of 02/28/2004 to 03/31/2004. My Pacifica was manufactured on08/2004 and therefore does not qualify for extended warranty coverage. My local fca dealer gave me an estimate of about $ 2600 to replace. This problem was noticed during a routine oil change recently. I am the only one who drives the car on a limited basis with no passengers.
Subframe corrosion - the subframe supporting the engine and transmission is rotted out. My mechanic informs me the car is not safe to drive. The engine could fall out of the car.
I went to get the 2005 chrystler Pacifica inspected and was told by the mechanic that the bottom was rusted so badly that the engine would fall out, and further that the year make and model was under recall for the same problem, the bottom rusting out horribly. I called chrystler with the VIN # and was told this 1 wasn't part of the recall even though it was the same year and make of the recall. I owe 4,400$ on the car and now am told the repairs would exceed 5,000$. I financed it for 6,455$ at the start. I'm disabled and greatly in need of help, I don't know what to do I have made a slew of calls to no avail at this point and continue to make payments as I don't want to ruin my credit, please help me, I don't know what to do.
The sub frame is rotted out and dangerous. I will have to get it replaced. Apparently this is a very known problem with these cars.
Brought my car in for a routine oil change at my independent mechanic and was asked to come in and look at underside of car while it was on the lift. There is when it was pointed out to me the engine cradle had a severe rust condition, I was advised this could be a safety hazard. After I was given a repair estimate from more than one source, that exceeded the value of the car, I decided to trade it in another vehicle. I never received any notification from Chrysler regarding this safety problem.
On routine check by my mechanic, he noticed that the engine cradle had rusted so badly that he can stick his fist through one section. Called Chrysler corporate and opened up a case with them. They told me to take it to the dealership for a "diagnostic". Called Chrysler back and told them the Pacifica was at the dealership and they could call to get the results. They refused to speak with the dealership and told me I was out of warranty and that they would not replace the defective part. Why send me for a diagnostic then?? just to get my $125 dollars?? extremely frustrated. Chrysler dealership mechanic said he would not be driving his family around in the car if it were his…. This seems to be a recurring problem from what I have found on line. Please investigate!.
My 2005 Chrysler Pacifica failed inspection due to the sub-frame rotting out. This vehicle is garage kept and in the 8 years I own it, I have driven it less than 25,000 miles. Apparently this is a real problem with this model. Is Chrysler offering any remedies or recalls for this sub-frame problem?.
I recently changed my own oil on this vehicle. When I was underneath of it I observed 1 medium sized rust hole thru the subframe and 2 smaller rust holes in the subframe. This is an issue with these vehicles after I further looked into the issue that others were having with this vehicle. I have pictures of this issue. This is known as cradle rot. The lower motor mount of the engine is bolted into this subframe. And if continues to get worse the engine can fall out of the vehicle. Not only I have 3 holes in it there is a lot of rust on this subframe that looks could be more of an issue in the years to come. I do not understand thru all the years of being under vehicles this is by far one of the worse I have ever seen. I do not feel safe now driving this car. Especially with my family in it. This car may be 10yrs old but has low miles and is in very good condition. You would never know by looking at this vehicle inside and out that there is something majorly wrong underneath it, unless you yourself crawled under it. And the vehicle has always been garage kept.
I own a 2005 Pacifica limited, I purchased this car in 2009 from a Chrysler dealer. I have taken this car back to the same dealer who sold me the car for servicing (oil change, repairs, ect). Not once was I informed (during the purchase or any time during servicing the Pacifica) about the rotting subframe. I have all of my records showing the inspection underneath with no mention of the rotting/rusted subframe. This car belongs to my wife and she drives our two kids in this car (not anymore). After reviewing other similar complaints I am very upset and frustrated with this whole situation. I have had electrical problems with this car and the whole time it could have been from the rotting/rusted subframe (that was never mentioned). I have put soooo much money into the repairs of this car and I feel like most could have been avoided, had I known about the subframe.
I was informed my engine cradle was rusting out when I was there for a routine oil change. I had contacted Chrysler and they told me to go to a dealership and have pics taken. The garage submitted the pics 10 times before Chrysler received them. According to Chrysler they will not fix this issue as my vehicle is too old. I have a letter issued in Nov 2010 that said this exact problem was an issue and that they were extending the warranty. My vehicle falls into the warranty guidelines and they are telling me it does not cover my VIN. They had my VIN long before they requested the pics, why did I have to wait 2 months to hear they wouldn't fix it then? I am not happy as the letter clearly states "this engine cradle extended warranty coverage applies to Chrysler Pacifica model years 2004-2005. " why are they not covering this if I even have a letter saying they will? the vehicle is unsafe to drive and I have had to since rent another vehicle and am out the cost for that because they have taken 2 months to reply with a no answer. I want this fixed. There is nothing else wrong with the care. The body is in excellent condition and will run another 100k miles at least! if they knew it wasn't going to be covered from the beginning, why did they make me wait 2 months. I bought the car when it was 2 years old and have only driven it 1 winter so they can't even say winter damaged the frame.
Went to get my car inspected today and it failed do to "sub frame rot". Chrysler admitted that there was frame problems during these model years but won't cover the repairs since it was manufactured on may 10th vs the six weeks between Feb and the end of Mar. The car is undriveable.
On 6/23/2015 I brought my car (2005 Pacifica) for a yearly inspection, however the car did not pass inspection due to structural insufficiency. The front sub frame was rotted (engine mounts to this) indicating there is a great risk of the engine falling out of the vehicle as it is being driven and increasing the risk of a potential accident. My husband contacted the dealer we purchased the vechile from in may 2008 with the information I was given at the inspection center and he was told to contact Chrysler directly. When he contacted Chrysler they told him only a small amount of vehicles where affected when the complete step to provide rust coating to the front sub frame occurred and that the previous owner was notified. Chrysler claims this defect only affected cars manufactured from March 2004-April 2004. According to the manufactures tag on my vehicle door my vehicle was manufactured in may of 2004, however my registration states it's a 2005. I have contacted a lawyer to be part of a class action suit against Chrysler. I was given a quote of $4500 to have this part replaced so the vehicle will pass inspection.
I contacted fca Chrysler after I was told by mechanic that the engine cradle of my 2005 Pacifica was rotted through and that it was extremely dangerous to drive. Brought car to mechanic for immediate repair. Contacted fca and was told that extended warranty applies to cars only built between Feb. 2004 and Mar 2004. My car was built may of 2004 and has the same problem. How can this not be recalled when this is an extremely dangerous matter.
I took my 2005 Pacifica for a routine oil change last week, and our mechanic discovered a large area of the engine cradle was completely rotted away on the passenger side of the undercarriage. He said it's not safe to drive until something is done to fix it, because the engine could fall out of the car at any time. After doing some research online, we discovered that we are not the only ones who have this problem on this make and model. We took the car to our local Chrysler dealer, and they will have to install a new engine cradle at an estimated cost of $2300. I then contacted Chrysler customer care, and they took a stance of plausible deniability, telling me that this is a problem unique to my Pacifica. I explained that there is irrefutable proof that it isn't unique to my vehicle. All Pacificas are prone to this failure. When I asked about the extension Chrysler issued for the warranty on Pacificas because of this very issue and why owners were never notified, the representative did not deny there was an extension; however, he informed me that my car is too old and well past any warranty mileage (which it isn't at 138,600 miles). At that point the representative became rude. When I asked to speak with a superior, he informed me there was no one else I could speak to on this issue and there is nothing Chrysler will do to assist me in the matter. All in all, I'm (1) alarmed that Chrysler is not addressing this significant safety hazard in this model, and (2) frustrated that they refuse to do anything to correct the problem. I'd even be happy with a compromise, for instance, if they would supply the part and we would pay for the labor, but they shut the door in my face. Hoping the NHTSA can investigate and call them to account for such shoddy construction.
The engine sub frame has and is rusted out.
