1 Tank Filler Pipe And Cap problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2006

I brought my car to the dealership in late August for regular maintenance. I told them I was having a long crank when starting the car. They said I probably did not put the gas cap on tight and air got into the tank. I disagreed with this but supposedly diagnostics these days pick up on everything. A week later I was driving down an incline and my gas gauge dropped from 1/2 tank to e. I immediately pulled into a gas station and the tank took 15 gallons. We run through a tank of gas maybe once every two weeks. Usually, I top off the tank. Therefore, I did not notice this problem again until last weekend. In this instance, when the gas gauge got to just below 1/2 tank , dropped to e and stalled. We were in highway traffic. We immediately restarted the car and got to a gas station. The car would only take 8 gallons. I am bringing it to the dealer tomorrow. Btw, still have the long crank. . . It has never gone away.
