1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2022

Bought this car 3 months ago from Ford dealership, took it to mechanic shop today for oil change and was told car is "unsafe to drive" from frame being so rusted.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2022

Bought car from a private seller and wasn't informed of massive and unsafe damage to engine cradle. The engine cradle is nearly completely rotted out. Don't know if rust has eroded other parts until a mechanic can look extensively at the engine cradle. I have been trying salvage yards and 9 out of the 10 Pacifica's I have inquired about the engine cradle is rotted beyond repair. It has to be replaced. The fee for replacing and labor is going to be anywhere from $400 to $2500. And the vehicle has only 153÷k on it. This is a huge and reoccurring issue with the Chrysler Pacifica after I did research.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2022

Vehicle shut off while driving on the road out of nowhere after running perfectly fine and since this incident the car won't start at all. Had the car diagnosed and it said it's the "transmission control module".

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2021

I bought this vehicle under the impression it needed a motor mount to find out that the sub frame is rotten to the point it's a safety issue to drive. The rest of the details may not be of interest to you but I am the surviving spouse of a deceased veteran and mother of his two children. I've been struggling to recuperate since their father's death and heaven unable to do to the pandemic that's what I was about to my daily drivers engine seized and I exhausted all my resources buying this vehicle that is now deemed unsafe any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2020

I went on some errands before going out if town. I noticed I might need a wheel alignment soon and I parked the car in my garage to go out of town. When I returned to go have it checked out, I noticed my front driver side tire was flat and a closer inspection, it had a tear. Then I noticed my other front tire was flat as well. I had two people tell me my subframe was badly rusted. I found out this was a known problem with Chrysler Pacifica but no recalls. This could have been a horrible accident for my daughter and I. We had been on the highway! by the grace of god we made it home, but the car is not driveable. Then came covid and here I am, still without a car. Chrysler said they don't do recalls. This should not happen. Unfortunately, I don't know how long this was going on, no one mentioned anything at oil changes or when I got 3 new tires, etc. I don't have photos and just lost and frustrated this happened.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2019

Hello there, I just recently bought a 06 Pacifica with 120000 miles on it. The other day I went to my local tire service shop and the head mechanic there told me that the frame on my car was corroded and rotting away which the engine could fall out while driving. When I looked this up online I as shocked to discover that this is a common problem and I'm not the only one. I also seen a recall for the 04&05 models up to 150000 miles was for this exact issue. I was told by 2 car professionals to go park this car and not drive it again until its fixed. I am a single low income mother with no options.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2019

Engine cradle is totally rotted through. Engine mounts are bad to. Engine about to fall out from rusted engine cradle.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2019

I have been informed my car has dangerous and fatal cradle rot and should not be on the road. This was discovered while replacing the shift cable. I understand at one time there was a recall on 2004-2008 models to only a few owners (I was not one). Present owners should be made aware of this highly dangerous situation. I am sure my auto is not the only one. My auto has been well maintained. This situation makes it completely worthless and I am stuck! I have pictures, but not available to me at this time. My mechanic has them. Can't imagine what would happen, unknowingly, driving down the highway at 60 m/p/hr and drop an engine!.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2019

I keep having issues with my shifter. This is the second time. I see alot of other people online have the same issue. Something must be done. I was in drive at the time. In motion and it just stopped on me. Ita stuck in drive. I have to keep my emergency brake on just to park it. Its like its in drive but neutral.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2018

I purchased this vehicle a week ago, took it to wal-mart to have front tires replaced so I could have front struts replaced and an alignment. Wal-mart could not do the job because of sub frame rot.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2018

The car stalls while in motion on an incline, making a left or right turns up an incline, and making u-turns on flat surface. The engine would just die, then I would have to put it in park and it would restart. This happened in city streets in speeds under 25mph. This has happened over a dozen times, 3 times this month. Mechanic cannot fix the problem.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2018

The chassis that connects under the engine from left front tire to right front tire , was diagnosed by a certified auto repair shop. That the metal was not treated properly to stop the metal from corroding and the possibility of the engine falling or steering compromised ,I was instructed by Chrysler in detroit michigan to take the automobile to the nearest dealership zieglers in schaumburg IL 60172 , to have a dealer look at it , and the dealer wants to charge me almost $150. 00 because they want a case # first but the people we talked to at Chrysler in detroit , noeloyn and angelica at 1-800-247-9753 said they were just going to make a notation of it . This problem became known to myself when the temp dropped below 20 degrees around new year day , driving . I heard and felt like something was wrong with the suspension . I took it to a mechanic , who then referred me to a body shop ,elmars on north Ave in glendale heights ,IL 60139 who said the chassie part under the engine was not coated to stop it from deteriorating, but it is so bad , to not drive it . The engine might fall out and there has been a recall for Pacificas from the years before for the same default.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2018

My car has 93000 miles and everytime I drive it it shuts off when I come to a stop unexpectedly and then I have to put the car in park and the car will start back up and I had took it to Chrysler and they said that they will charge me to look at it and to expect it I feel like it's unsafe and I don't know when the car will turn off I researched it and other cars like minds was having the same problem and they was issued or recall and my VIN isn't popping up under the recall list but I think I'm having the same issues as the others and sometimes when I drive or when I'm at a standstill my vehicle turns off.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

Subframe rotting, vehicle well maintained , now scarred to drive that I see that for myself.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2017

Cradle that supports the engine, front suspension and driveline is rusted through. The vehicle is in otherwise very good condition and only has just over 42,000 miles of use. I was told today that it will not pass new york state vehicle inspection due to this rot. I am now in the process of paying for the replacement and repair. Internet search notes that Chrysler has known of this very important safety defect for years! no notification to owners and no resolution is completely unacceptable.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2017

Subframe is rusted to the point of dangerous driving. Was told to park the car until repairs made. Was having brakes installed when mechanic noticed the severe rust. . Including struts. I replaced entire exhaust system related to severe rust.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2017

Sub frame rusted.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2017

Purchased a used Pacifica 2006 and had oil changed and from further work because of striped oil plug discovered sub frame completely rotted. Having to loan money from family, has caused a hardship on my wife and I as we are both on disability.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2017

Engine cradle rot discovered at state inspection.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2017

Takata recall, I was driving my vehicle when it just cut off in the middle of the road. I popped the hood to see what was wrong, and underneath my hood, sparks was flying everywhere. I tried jumping my car to get it home and it melted the battery cables.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2017

The sub-frame has and is rusting from inside out with holes and such, I would think this is a true safety issue and should be on recall seeing how it won't pass safety inspection in new york state. I've notice that there are hundreds complaints on this same issue, what gives? this is my only vehicle I use for work commute and such and at this moment it has 145121 miles on it and I can't afford a new car.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2016

The frame (engine carriage) is rotting out to the point that it would be dangerous to drive it. Chrysler will not help even though this problem affects thousands of Pacificas. It will cost at least $1600 to replace and then it could happen again to the "new" frame since it is the same part. This should not happen to a 10 year old car. My mechanic in 35 years has only replaced one and it wasn't as bad as mine. Attempts to contact Chrysler about the problem were not met with success! there are stories and pictures all over the internet of people with the same problem.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2016

Tuesday, October 25, 2016 the the engine cradle rusted through and the engine lowered and the cradle itself was dragging along the street. My wife was leaving our town of owosso, michigan to go to doctor appointments in lansing, michigan about 35 miles away. The Pacifica had 119,101 miles on it and was otherwise in excellent condition. We had purchased the car from a Chrysler dealership about 15 miles away about seven years prior with 42,000 miles on it. It had always been serviced at the dealership until the dealership was sold in February 2016. Without repair the value of the vehicle was just scrap metal, repair was an absolute to salvage any value, the repair cost $3214. 07.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2016

Vehicle was brought in for alignment and I was informed the engine cradle is rotted out and will need to be replaced. I did some homework and learned this is a common problem with all Pacifica's. Chrysler has only repair roughly 7,000 vehicles made is 2004 during a one month period. This is a model/year wide problem. There is a class action lawsuit currently pending.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2016

My 2006 Chrysler Pacifica cradle is rusting out and the dealership that changed my oil said it is very dangerous to drive. I was also told by them that the 2004 and 2005 Chrysler Pacifica had recalls on this same issue but not the 2006. When I called Chrysler up to report this issue they told me that my VIN # is not on the recall and can not do anything about it. But as I read on here Chrysler should know about this issue. I have my grandson in my car a lot of the time and I hope and pray nothing happens to either one of us while I am driving this car. I can not afford to get this fixed because it is very expensive to repair.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2016

When taking my car for a routine oil change, the technician advised me that my car would not pass inspection due to severe rusting of the engine cradle. After searching the web, I found that this has been a problem with this model and that Chrysler refuses to address this problem but for a very narrow manufacturing window. How long is an engine cradle supposed to last if properly coated? I also saw that there is a class action suit regarding this problem. Are others in the same situation getting any satisfaction from this action? I spent $3,600 to replace the engine cradle without any help from Chrysler. If this is a wide-spread and dangerous problem, why are they just ignoring it? unfortunately, I don't have any photos of the rotted out cradle.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2016

"takatarecall" the motor cradle is carroded in rust and the Pacifica is only got 70,000 miles on it and we are not able to drive it any more as they told us the motor could fall out! it has brand new tires on it and everything is new on it! the passenger side of the sub frame is also rusted out! I have seen so many 2006 Chrysler Pacificas on the complaint list and I am shocked that they have not done anything about this! I did send a complaint about two months ago, and you did nothing! this is dangerous if we had not known about it, we could have been driving the Pacifica and there could have been a serious accident. The only way we found out about it was I was checking underneath it, and that is what I found! we have had many people tell us that it is not right that something should be done to help us. I have sent pictures before, and I can send them again! please help us.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2016

"takata recall" car has only 70,000 miles on it, brand new tires and is in good shape, except for rust on the subframe and motor cradle! we have found out recently that there is many of these 2006 Chrysler Pacificas that have the same problem. We have been told that we can not drive the car as the motor will fall out! it is very bad! we feel that you owe us a explanation and or a settlement on this car! we had to buy another car that is not in our budget! we are seniors and think that this is totally wrong! we have also talked to the state of illinois on complaints and we have talked to the Chrysler dealership and to no avail! please help us! thank you.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2016

I have a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. I brought the vehicle in for an oil change and found out the vehicle subframe is almost rusted out. The vehicle has less than 81000 miles.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2016

During a routine service appointment, I was informed that the engine crossmember of my Pacifica was dangerously corroded and their was a high probability of failure that would result in my engine and transmission falling out of the car. Chrysler acknowledged the issue but only for 7,000 2004-5 Pacificas. Clearly this problem goes beyond this number. My concern is that there was no notification from Chrysler that this problem existed and there are probably thousands of Pacifica owners at risk of crossmembers failing.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2016

Engine cradle is severely rotted and needs replacement. Sway bar bushings and front and rear motor mounts need replacement.
