Driving with kids front of vehicle kept feeling as if the whole front end was about yo fall off. Mechanic sd probably tie rod ends and motor mount. Took to mechanic when they lifted the car my whole engine cradle was severly rusted, seperated and was told lucky engine didnt fall through while driving. I can not safely drive car and to repair is thousands of dollars! bought at a dealership Aug 2012 they will not help with repairs either. I still owe on my car and it could be life threatning to drive this car. Very upset but thankful me and the kids did not get hurt. The mechanics were in shock when they saw the rusted out engine cradle!.
I am proud owner of a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica and regularly had it serviced. With no warning at all, I was told that the engine cradle is completely rusted and the car is unsafe to drive. I am astonished that there was a recall on the car, yet it was limited to a very few of the cars. My mechanic said he hasn¿t ever seen anything like it even on cars 30 years old! potential injury/death to occupant and others using the roads if the cradle fails and engine drops out while driving. Chrysler has an ongoing problem with Pacifica's suspensions and knowingly keeps this info from owners and refuses to make the repairs ( est $5,023. 86)s. By this action it knowingly put owners at grave risk and financial difficulty. People are left with vehicles with no resale value and the risk of great harm.
While traveling I had some alignment issues with my car, I brought it to a Chrysler dealership service area to make certain the car was safe to drive home to connecticut. While I was told it will be fine to make it home, my subframe will need to be replaced due to rust. As I researched this, I see that this has been an issue with the Pacifica 2004-2006 models. Below are the statements from service: 1. Sub-frame badly rusted reported 12/31/2015 by Chrysler service easton, MD 2. Front sub-frame nearly broken 01/02/2016 by town fair tire, hamden, CT.
I took my car in for steering problem and was told that the subframe or c-member was so rotted it was not safe to drive. Surprisingly the local dealership had the part in stock at a cost of $1570. 00 plus the isolators(4 x $58. 95). The total cost to repair since I couldn't sell the car was $2519. 65. It seems Chrysler knows there are dangerous vehicles on the road and does nothing to help owners defer the repair costs. If there is a class action lawsiut I want to be part of it. I have the documentation and pictures of the rusted frame on and off the car along with the repair bill. If needed I can upload the files.
Took to mechanic to replace links in wheels. Mechanic informed me of the rusted through subframe. I don't wanna be driving down the road then all the sudden my engine falls out. Only transportation I have.
Went to get my oil changed and was informed my subframe was very rusted and the vehicle is unsafe to drive. The car is washed even underneath frequently so was very surprising on a car less than 10 years old until I started doing research and found it is common occurrence on these years of Pacifica. It is a safety hazard because if the subframe fails entirely the engine could fall out of the vehicle.
Took my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica in for brake service and was told by the technician that the engine sub-frame is rotted and is unsafe to drive. My mechanic searched around for sub-frame and the least expensive used was $950. 00 plus labor. In investigating the vehicle it seems there is a problem with sub-frame on the Chrysler Pacifica from 2004-2008. Is there a recall on this part? if not is there a class action law suit on this vehicle for the above item?.
Went to get an oil change on my 2006 Pacifica as I have been doing about every 6 months & was informed that they couldn't touch it because the engine was ready to fall through & was advised not to even drive it home that day. So it turns out that the sub-frame was completely rusted away & barely hanging in there. This car is only 9 years old & has been (for the most part) kept in a garage when it wasn't in use. I submitted a claim to Chrysler & was informed by the car dealer where I took it that they denied the claim & stated that it was an environmental problem so I can't help but wonder why everyone else's engines aren't falling out if that's the case. I can't even imagine what would have happened if I had hit one of these pot holes that we had to deal with this spring at 70 mph on the expressway. So here I am working from paycheck to paycheck just trying to make an honest living & keep my lights turned on & now facing a $2,800. + (because of other damages to vehicle because engine was sitting off balance) if I want my car back in running condition.
Upon regular maintenance, the auto mechanic discovered my 2006 Pacifica engine cradle frame is totally rusted out. He advised me the cost of repair is so high that it is not worth to repair. He further required me to acknowledge that my car is not safe to drive. This is very unusual to have a subframe rusted though the whole metal frame since the car was always kept in maryland, we hardly have any snow in the last 10 years. From the search on the internet, it turns out that this subframe problem affected was common in many Pacifica on the road. We felt fortunate that the engine has not dropped on the ground and lead to a fatal crash. Why there is not recall on these Pacificas .
The Pacifica floor shifter will not shift out of park. The problem is exactly the same as has been recalled for the (2005-2007) Chrysler 300, Dodge charger, and magnum (Chrysler customer satisfaction notification code k39), but is not listed for the Pacifica. The transmission shifter interlock lever spring hook breaks and prevents the shifter from shifting out of park. This defect is noted frequently on the Chrysler forums (chryslerforum. Com).
Purchased from private owner in Aug 2015. On sept. 10 2015 took it in to shop for rotor and brake repair and was told to park it because the sub cradle is almost rotted all the way through. I am a single parent with 2 children and cannot afford the repair of this. Already owning another Chrysler product, I'm very disappointed that Chrysler would be willing to fix 04-05 models with the exact same issue and not an 06. Called the service number at Chrysler twice and was told 06 could not be repaired under their recall. Now I'm stuck with an auto that the body and engine are totally solid and great looking but engine is ready to fall out. Someone help please!.
When taking my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica to be serviced for broken motor mount. My vehicle was brought in the shop, not even 30 minutes passed and I was contacted immediately by the mechanic, that in the process of replacing my motor mount he noticed that my cradle was rotted out and very unsafe to drive because this was a very important component on my vehicle, (steering, engine, transmission and ect. ) are being held up by the cradle, and the mechanic stated that the engine can fall out at anytime! I am in fear for my family and I, to know that we travel at high speeds on the free way. We live in a city where there are many pot holes and craters in the streets we drive on, and to know that we can be in danger is insane. He quoted me around $3,000 to repair and I cannot afford to cover this issue. There has to be something done by the Chrysler corp. Hopefully this speaks for many owners of this same vehicle.
I took the car in for an oil change and was told the subframe was corroded. I was told to take it to a deal to have it inspected. The dealer verified that the subframe was rusted and unsafe to drive. I checked for recalls and there weren't any for 2006. There were recalls for 2004 and 2005 with the same problem stating that the subframe was not properly coated which resulted in the rust. They stated there was a higher incidence of rust in salt belt states which applies to this vehicle. There is also a class action suit for vehicles from 2004-2008. When I contacted Chrysler customer service, they informed me that there was no recall from 2006 and there was nothing they could do to help. They felt as though the problem had been corrected. I disagree since the same problem occurred a year later. I feel as though Chrysler is responsible and should correct this problem.
Update on earlier report. Had an independent sevice station check condition of rusting engine cradle on 7/21/15. Mechanic reported that the rot damage is a safety issue, car should not be driven. Rear engine cradle cross member rusting out over the years driven, unknown to me. Also brought car to Chrysler sevice station for their mechanic's inspection on 7/ 27/15. Reported that the cradle was very rusty. Large rusted out holes in the stucture are very easy to see. I was told the car was o. K. To drive today and that the engine could fall through at any time later. Not a safety issue ? was also told I could keep comming back repetedly at 52$ a pop to have them check on the progression of the rot. Quoted $2800 for repair, car not worth the cost, nor can I afford the cost. I was rushed out of the sevice area after being handed the bill. No talk about how the cradle was manufactured poorly, only that I could spray some type of rust inhibitor on the effected areas. Chrysler has had my three young children and wife sitting in a car that could have caused them serious injury or death. I have since found out that Chrysler knows about the faulty product and continued to produce more. I depended on this car everyday , I was happy with it untill now. I was happy with Chrysler intill now, they need to step-up and fix what they know was not safe to start with. My car now sits in the driveway untill I can take further action.
I have had two different Chrysler dealerships tell me the engine cradle is rusted through to the point of being a safety concern. I'm the original owner of the 2006 Chrysler Pacifica awd limited edition and the car doesn't have any rust on it, and is in excellent condition with 165,000 miles on it, except for the engine cradle which has rusted completely through on both sides. The dealerships both quoted over $3,000 for the repair. I contacted Chrysler head quarters and was told a limited recall of some 2004-2005 Pacifica's was issued, but nothing could be done for my 2006. Searching the internet I find complaints from thousands of Pacifica owners with models ranging from 2004-2008 all with this same issue. Given the engine could drop out of the vehicle at any moment on thousands of vehicles I find it irresponsible the NHTSA has not forced Chrysler to correct the situation. Thankfully this country has lawyers who can act when government fails to protect the people and a class action law suit has been filed in ohio by clark, perdue, and list lpa.
Frame at motor mounts has significant rust. Rest of car is very good shape with no rust. The drivers side has more damage than passenger but both side have a good real of rust in the engine cradle area.
Engine cradle has rotted out at only 88,550 miles. The rot is so bad you can literally push through the bottom with your fingers, causing severely unstable steering/stopping/turning/accelerating. There is no rust anywhere else on the car. Chrysler was contacted and I was told that "its no longer under warranty" and that "our decision is final" via email. There are hundreds of these vehicles out there with this issue and it needs to be addressed ASAP by Chrysler.
I was informed by another consumer that the front end and engine cradle, in my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica are rusting. This rust problem is causing the engine to actual fall out of vehicles. After hearing of this, I had two different mechanics check my vehicle. After both inspections I was told my vehicle is severely rusted and is not going to be safe to drive for much longer. The estimated time frame I was given is between 6-12 months. It was suggested that I drive local only and have it reinspected every three months for my safety. I contacted Chrysler's recall center only to find out there are currently no recalls issued at this time for my vehicle and they do not expect there to be any. I called directly to the Chrysler CO. To hear the same thing that the recall center told me and that they have no intentions of helping people that are experiencing this problem. At this point I am unable to afford the high cost of repairs and will soon be out of a road safe vehicle.
Took my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica limited with 34,945, (garage kept, well maintained) to my Chrysler dealer for a oil change, was informed that the front cross member is rotting, was advised to contact Chrysler, 1-800-992-1997 to inform them regarding the rotting. I did contact Chrysler spoke with a michael he did check and informed me that Chrysler was only covering out of warranty for the 2004-2005 Chrysler Pacifica's for the same problem. I maintain that Chrysler is responsible as well to repair my 2006 under recall as well, both Chrysler and NHTSA are fully aware that this problem exists. I do understand that NHTSA has many complaints from 2006 Chrysler Pacifica owners for the same issue but nothing is being done by NHTSA, why is this, is it because no deaths have resulted? this makes my wife and I feel that it is not a safety issue, no need at the present time to have the front cross member replaced and we can continue to drive our 2006 Chrysler Pacifica.
There is a hole in the frame of the car due to rust, it is approximately 2 inches around located near the passenger front tire. A Chrysler dealer has documented the hole, but states the car is not part of a recall. Chrysler has recognized the unusual rusting in the frame and issued a recall for some of the same model cars built over just a few months, mine was not built during this time and therefore did not qualify for the recall. Chrysler does not recognize the danger of this situation. I called to file a complaint and they stated they would only document it and let me know if there was a recall.
I have a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. I brought it in for an alignment and my mechanic found a lot of rest on the underside of the car. He believes it is rust much beyond a reasonable amount of rust. I contacted Chrysler corporation on March 24, 2015. I was told that there is no warranty and no coverage for the issue. They only cover the 2004 and 2005 Chrysler Pacifica with this issue. The amount of rust is unreasonable for a 2006 vehicle with 120,000 miles on it.
The engine cradle is rusting through leaving holes, and flaking off even when just touched by hand. This is a problem with 2004 and 2005 Pacificas as well; Chrysler extened warranties for those model years, but decided not to for 2006 for some reason. Really these should all be recalled anyway as it is a major saftey issue since the engine support is rotten with rust which could easily cause major accidents.
2006 Chrysler Pacifica bought in 2012 from dealer has rotted cradle car unsafe to drive. Called Chrysler and they refused to help with this issue said nothing they can do about it refused to let me speak to anyone else called dealer they refuse to help with issue advised that have problems since bought vehicle front and back motor mounts broke three days after purchased.
Today I was told that the engine cradle of my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica was rusted out and needs to be replaced. Online Chrysler says they only are covering the 2004 and 2005 years. I believe this is a extreme safety problem that Chrysler is overlooking.
I took my car in for an oil change and my mechanic informed me my frame is rusted out and has holes in it. He says he has never seen this in a car of this age. I know this is a problem and Chrysler needs to fix it before someone gets hurt. We have always bought Dodge and Chrysler cars for the past 20 years, but if I have to buy a new car and Chrysler doesn't help with this fix of the frame I will not buy a Dodge or Chrysler again !.
I was performing a complete brake job on my vehicle and noticed that the engine cradle on my vehicle is rusted out. I don't mean surface rust, there are actual holes in the engine cradle. I feel that this is a major safety issue. I contacted Chrysler and all they can tell me is that my vehicle is out of warranty. I find it totally ridiculous for Chrysler not to stand behind their product. This is my no means normal, I own a 1965 thunderbird with not a bit of rot on the undercarriage. What the hell is Chrysler and/or the NHTSA waiting for to recalled and repair these faulty vehicles , someone to die first ? your agency will have someones blood on you hands also if someone dies in an accident caused by this defect. I am beginning to think that Chrysler is paying you guys off or something. All this brings to mind the fiasco of the Chrysler 2. 7l engine that failed in thousands of vehicles due to the poor design of that engine. No recall was ever forced upon Chrysler for that debacle and I am beginning to think the same thing will apply here also. People spend good money for these flawed vehicles then when something happens the NHTSA and Chrysler both basically say the hell with the consumer. There is no way the NHTSA can believe that an engine cradle rotting out in 8-9 year and in a lot of cases less time than that is acceptable. I thought that your organization was here to proetect the public and see that these type of things don't happen. Please explain to me how and why Chrysler is getting away with this. Ohhh, I know, no one has died yet !!!.
Upon taking my car in for a routine inspection today I was made aware of major subframe damage and holes and rust. It has apparently been this way for a while and I was more than likely sold the car this way from the dealer who didn't correctly inspect the car yet still put passed stickers on it. Now my car is unusable and worthless condition unless I pay out of pocket the whole cost of replacing the subframe. I am very upset to read now that a lot of other Pacifica owners have the same problems but Chrysler has yet to issue a recall and very rarely compensates their customers. The dealer is also denying any wrong doing on their end and said the car was not this way a year ago. I have signed statements from the auto body shop saying this is years of damage gone unnoticed and fixed. I am very upset and now with out a family car for my 4 kids and have no way of getting a new car and cannot trade this in now due to the severity of the damage.
We have always had the car serviced at the Chrysler dealer and on this oil change were just informed about the extensive rust on the engine cradle. Did some research on the internet and found out that this is a common problem with Chrysler Pacifica and that Chrysler has extended the warrenty on only a few 2004 and 2005 models. I called Chrysler and they refused to help with any repairs saying that my vehicle was outside the extended warrenty models. There is a large rust hole in the engine cradle on one side and extensive rust on the other side.
I was at stopped at signal light in traffic at rush hour. When light turned green to go, I stepped on gas petal and vehicle started to snorkel and stall. It started jerking and continued to stall then it took off for a bit and started to stall again, then continued to go. Cars were honking and I almost got rear ened and hit on the side!. Another few times before that it would rev up on its own while stopped at signal light lunging forward. Few times almost hit vehicle in front of me due to this issue! recall most definitely needs to be enforced>>>>.
We bought our 2006 Chrysler Pacifica from the original owner with 110,000 miles I think. The inspection sticker was new and now a year later our entire engine cradle is completely rusted through and wont take a sticker whatsoever. Theres no way this kind of rust is normal and when I went online I saw that this is a recurring problem on these cars and a new cradle is 2,500 without instalation this is Chryslers fault we always washed the car during winter months at the carwash. We bought this car because it had the room great safety features and now I find out its a accident waiting to happen and we gotta eat this cost. Im going to our local newspaper because this isnt right and Chrysler only helped with cost on so many cars and the same engine cradle fits 04,05 and 06 Pacificas so all these cars should be covered because there is obvisly something wrong with the material they used. Any help on how or who to contact I know were not alone I this complaint.
When having my brakes replaced, the mechanic noticed the steel frame of the vehicle completely rusted out. I contacted Chrysler warranty department who informed me that only a small window of vehicles built in 2004 qualified for the recall. Apparently this is happening on the model vehicle to many people with no relief from Chrysler.
Had to have my vehicle towed due to my ignition switch. I am glad that I was not driving when this happened! getting this car repair will set me back in my bills and I just got this car 2 years ago!.
A mechanic, while changing the oil on my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, informed me that the subframe is rusted badly and is a major safety concern. I called Chrysler and was told that Chrysler did extend the warranty on the engine carriage and acknowledged that the subframe was inadequate in terms of handling road salt. But then they revised the extension of warranty to include only cars manufactured after Feb 23, 2004 and before March 31, 2004. While such a limitation? my vehicle, according the Chrysler customer service person on the phone, was build on Aug 25, 2004 and therefore falls outside of the covered time period. The bottom line is that my car has a rust problem with the subframe and this is a major safety issue. I did some research on the internet and it is clear that this is an issue with Pacificas made in 2004 and 2005. Chrysler should cover the cost to replace the subframe on my vehicle.
On my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica the check engine light and the gas cap light are constantly coming on. I had the vehicle checked and was told everything was ok and the check engine light was reset and a new gas cap put on. About two days later the same thing happened and again the check engine light came on as did the check gas cap light. The check engine light was reset and I was told nothing is wrong. Now when I park the vehicle I can smell gasoline vapors. Again I had the vehicle checked and was told everything was ok. I purchased the vehicle in 2008, had approx. 45,000 miles on the car. As of this date, 03/28/2015 I have approx 75,000 miles on the car. What could the problem be.
Car has rotten sub frame that cradles engine suspension! in looking at Chrysler complaints this appears to be prevalent in all the sub frames. My mechanic has welded in metal in place of rot. This sub frame is responsible for suspension of the front end and cradles engine mounts. There is no way a car design should allow for failure of such a critical job after 89000 miles and 8 years. These cars need to be recalled and or removed from the road before there are unnecessary deaths.
