I was advised that there would a be a recall on this and I contacted a Chrysler dealer and I called Chrysler and was told that there was not. Doing research I found that this is a problem with that has been reported hundreds of times. The estimated cost to repair this would be between $2000-$4000 and Chrysler is aware of this very unsafe problem with this car. I was advised that I cannot drive this car anymore due to this issue. I am the sole provider and transportation for three young children and cannot afford to be without this vehicle. A-frame on car has rusted out which at any time could snap cause the transmission and engine to drop which will cause the right passenger wheel axle and bearing to break and snap off which is a hazard. Also emergency parking break has rusted out of nowhere and fell into the drum of back wheel and rubs causing a hazard and loud noise. , Chrysler could not explain why either one of these things happened when neither are being used and the car was purchased certified new used from dealer 5yers ago. All of this was discovered while driving and I heard a snap and a rattling sound while driving and decided to take it to a shop and they found the bigger problem.

9 Frame Rust problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2017

My vehicle has failed new hampshire state safety inspection because of sub frame rust. I am told that this could result in a failure that could cause the vehicle to suddenly loose handling ability or loss of the engine motor-mounts ability to hold the engine in the vehicle. This has been estimated to be a very costly repair. My concern is that premature failure has cost me harm to either drive the car because I like it or even to trade it because of this unexpected failure.

Failure Date: 06/04/2016

I have a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica with 70,000 miles. Was inspecting the exhaust system around the muffler and happened to notice some excessive rust on the sub frame and upon further looking I went to the front of the vehicle and noticed the motor cradle and where the motor cradle connects with the passenger side of the sub frame there were enormous amount of decay and corrosion on the motor cradle and splitting in the sub frame. I believe that there was a serious over look and neglect in not treating the sub frame with some sort of anti corrosive at time of assembly at the factory by Chrysler. The car was manufactured on September 2005.

Seeing hundreds of complaints on line about this exact same problem! what will it take for a recall? when is this government organization going to care? isn't that what this is set up for? this isn't just a hand full of complaints.

After encountering multiple problems involving front suspension, motor mounts, power steering components and uneven tire wear the dealer informed us the sub frame assembly was rusted through and needed to be replaced. 20 Frame Rust problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2015

While traveling I had some alignment issues with my car, I brought it to a Chrysler dealership service area to make certain the car was safe to drive home to connecticut. While I was told it will be fine to make it home, my subframe will need to be replaced due to rust. As I researched this, I see that this has been an issue with the Pacifica 2004-2006 models. Below are the statements from service: 1. Sub-frame badly rusted reported 12/31/2015 by Chrysler service easton, MD 2. Front sub-frame nearly broken 01/02/2016 by town fair tire, hamden, CT.

21 Frame Rust problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2015

On 12/4/15 we took our 2006 Chrysler Pacifica for an oil change. When we picked up the vehicle the mechanic at the dealership explained to us that the subframe that holds the engine of the vehicle in place is rusted and will not pass annual PA inspection without being replaced. We were quoted an amount of $2,009. 28 for just the parts to replace the rusted subframe. This did not include any labor. The vehicle only has 73,000 miles on it and has been garage kept since the day it was bought brand new in 2006. After some extensive research, this seems to be a common problem in 2004-2008 Chrysler Pacifica vehicles. I contacted Chrysler concerning this issue due to the safety concern this poses for myself and my family as well as the fact that this should not be happening to a vehicle that is less than 10 years old and garage kept. The contact at chrysle acknowledged that this is a problem, but that our vehicle was not covered under a warranty that Chrysler issued for 2004-2005 Pacificas. I find it completely irresposible of Chrysler to deny fixing this issue when they are well aware that they did not provide enough coating of this part while manufacturing this vehicle. I have a picture of the damage but have been unable to attach it to this form. If we attempt to fix the issue with the vehicle, we will be putting more money into the vehicle than what it is worth and if we try to trade in the vehicle, we will not be given the value of the vehicle due to the required costly repair to pass inspection. Please do something about this as Chrysler needs to be held responsible for their failure to manufacture a safe vehicle.

22 Frame Rust problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2015

Original owner of a 2006 Pacifica (85000 miles). . . On October 16, 2015, I drove the vehicle to the Chrysler dealer where it was purchased and has been regularly maintained for a routine scheduled oil change and multi-point inspection (no check engine light message triggered the visit. ) in the process of returning me the keys and directing me to the cashier, the service advisor mentioned that a part known as a "front cross member" would need to be replaced due to rust/corrosion spotted on the inspection with estimated cost of repair at $1862 for the part and $644 for the labor (estimated time to complete the repair at 5. 6 hours). The service advisor made mention that failure to do the repair could result in the engine falling out. Upon returning home, I googled "pacifica frame rust" and discovered this problem is widespread. I learned there is a class-action lawsuit in ohio involving this issue with motions and rulings relatively fresh with a judge named "donald c. Nugent" hearing the case with the first name of plaintiff named being "holland et al" and the defendant in the suit being named "fca" as in fiat Chrysler. From information I have gathered online, I have discovered that engine-cradle rot is a serious problem for the Chrysler Pacifica. Chrysler admits they didn't apply enough coating to the engine's sub-frame during assembly, but thus far has only offered to cover under warranty only a very small portion of the vehicles (approx 7000 in a November 9, 2010 technical service bulletin). Later, on March 16, 2012, fiatchrysler issued a new technical service bulletin superceding the previous TSB stating the engine cradle defect and extended warranty applied only to 2004-05 Pacificas in canada and salt belt states manufactured in a six week window in 2004. This means approx 300000 Pacificas are dangerous and in need of repair mine included.

23 Frame Rust problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2015

Front sub frame rust through. Was told frame could crack or break causing loss of control of car. Needs $3,100. 00 repair at Chrysler dealer to make safe. .

Took to mechanic to replace links in wheels. Mechanic informed me of the rusted through subframe. I don't wanna be driving down the road then all the sudden my engine falls out. Only transportation I have.

25 Frame Rust problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2015

Upon regular maintenance, the auto mechanic discovered my 2006 Pacifica engine cradle frame is totally rusted out. He advised me the cost of repair is so high that it is not worth to repair. He further required me to acknowledge that my car is not safe to drive. This is very unusual to have a subframe rusted though the whole metal frame since the car was always kept in maryland, we hardly have any snow in the last 10 years. From the search on the internet, it turns out that this subframe problem affected was common in many Pacifica on the road. We felt fortunate that the engine has not dropped on the ground and lead to a fatal crash. Why there is not recall on these Pacificas .

26 Frame Rust problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2015

My 2006 Pacifica cradle, carrage, rockers, or whatever the correct name. . . Underneath is rotted out. I got new tires for the vehicle and when I went to sears auto center to have them installed is when the news was broken to me about the issue. They told me that the compartment holding the engine is rusting out bad and could result in the motor falling out. It was so bad that they didn't align the tires because they didn't want to be held responsible. I drove the vehicle back to the dealer I purchased the vehicle and explained the issue. Their response was this is a buy here pay here and the vehicle was as is no warranty so their not responsible. Wow. . . . Was my response. . . . So I followed up by calling the dealer about the issue. . . But they don't have a recall on the vehicle frame issue for 2006 but only for certain vehicles in 2005. . . . Now if that ain't just blow my mind. . . Only thing I could do was file a complaint and hope enough people do too for it to be a chance for recall. . . Now I don't think that's fair that I done purchased this vehicle as a family vehical with a rusted frame and there's nothing that's being done to fix this issue. This is a $3000 fix out of pocket which is not fair.

The car was brought to dealership for a repair on a fuel injector and throttle body. While diagnosing the problem it was discovered that the sub frame is rusted and needs to be replaced/repaired. The cost of this repair would be $2495. We were told that this has been a common problem with this model.

29 Frame Rust problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2015

Severely rusted sub frame under the engine. Advised by repair facility that the vehicle was not safe to drive due to the rust damage to the sub frame. This was a hidden defect that I would not have had knowledge of if I had not purchased a safety inspection. Because of this issue the vehicle failed a MD safety inspection. Advised that required repairs will be over $2500.

30 Frame Rust problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

Discovered excessive rust on the subframe and underbody members after trying to diagnose a problem with the steering. Specifically, a "clicking" noise had appeared unexpectedly during turning and the steering wheel had undue resistance while turning. After checking for tire problems and other issues, a mechanic diagnosed the problem as a subframe failure due to excessive rust. He mentioned that if the rust progressed too far, the engine could literally fall out of the vehicle while I was driving. This issue demands a recall.

31 Frame Rust problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2015

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. While undergoing routine maintenance, the independent mechanic discovered that the entire subframe was rusted and needed replacing. Also, the technician diagnosed that the tie rod was defective. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000. 33 Frame Rust problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

I have a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica touring edition with less than 115,000 miles on it. The car runs flawlessly except for the sub frame rust corrosion that has eaten away the engine and car support underneath my car. I have read continuously that this is a common problem with this type of vehicle. My car is unsafe to drive and I fear I will get into an accident while driving it. I will be taking this car to Chrysler in paramus, NJ to find out what can be done on my behalf. Are there any recalls out there, or manufacturer warranties covering such major repairs. I am not in a position to purchase to new car right now. Please help.

34 Frame Rust problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2014

35 Frame Rust problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2014

A mechanic, while changing the oil on my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, informed me that the subframe is rusted badly and is a major safety concern. I called Chrysler and was told that Chrysler did extend the warranty on the engine carriage and acknowledged that the subframe was inadequate in terms of handling road salt. But then they revised the extension of warranty to include only cars manufactured after Feb 23, 2004 and before March 31, 2004. While such a limitation? my vehicle, according the Chrysler customer service person on the phone, was build on Aug 25, 2004 and therefore falls outside of the covered time period. The bottom line is that my car has a rust problem with the subframe and this is a major safety issue. I did some research on the internet and it is clear that this is an issue with Pacificas made in 2004 and 2005. Chrysler should cover the cost to replace the subframe on my vehicle.
