36 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

Discovered excessive rust on the subframe and underbody members after trying to diagnose a problem with the steering. Specifically, a "clicking" noise had appeared unexpectedly during turning and the steering wheel had undue resistance while turning. After checking for tire problems and other issues, a mechanic diagnosed the problem as a subframe failure due to excessive rust. He mentioned that if the rust progressed too far, the engine could literally fall out of the vehicle while I was driving. This issue demands a recall.

37 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

My sub-frame is rusting out on my car. I see that there is a class action lawsuit regarding this hazardous condition. By doing research, I understand that the engine cradle can fall out. I have a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica touring.

38 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2015

Frame at motor mounts has significant rust. Rest of car is very good shape with no rust. The drivers side has more damage than passenger but both side have a good real of rust in the engine cradle area.

39 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2015

Purchased car used with less than 85k miles. When I went to get it state inspected 1 week after purchase I was informed that the car is unsafe to drive due to engine cradle was rusted out. Repair estimates range from $3300 to over $4000. The car is less than 10 years old and under 100k miles. No help from the manufacturer. Many others with the same situation. This could be a potential life threatening situation for myself and my family. Car is worth as much as the repairs. The manufacturer should be made to make this right. Bad product. Even partial help with the repairs would help. Very disappointed in "american made".

40 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

I recently bought a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica touring with under 87,000 miles. When I went to have the state inspection performed I was informed by the dealership that this car will not pass inspection due to the excessive amount of rust on the engine cradle. We were informed that the vehicle is not safe to drive and needs over $3,600 of repair work done. I am a single mother and can not afford that kind of repair cost. I find it crazy that a car under 10 years old should have this kind of rust damage. The visible outside of the car is in perfect shape, but the underside is totally corroded! when I started looking online to see if anyone else has encountered this issue, I was amazed at the number of other people who have encountered this same issue. This car is not safe to drive with my daughter, as one good pot hole could cause the engine to fall out and kill both of us or anyone else on the road around us. I will paying for years on a car I cant even drive nor in good conscience sell to someone else. I find it exteamly dissappointing that Chrysler refuses to step up and do right by its customers. It will only be a matter of time until someone is killed by this car.

41 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2015

With only 50512 miles I was notified by my service agent that the car front sub frame is rusted through and risking collision or engine falling out causing personal injury or death. This problem has been reported several times and is well documented over the internet. I contacted Chrysler and got "sorry we cant help you" for a response.

42 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2015

I took my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica in to a Chrysler dealership because I couldn't pass the IL emissions test. I was told that my subframe was very rusted and holes were in it. He told me that they fixed my car so I can pass emissions ($900) and basically told me to drive it for a few months and get rid of it. I asked him how much it would be to fix it and he told me, it would be very expensive. I did my research and there are a lot of people with the same problem. There is a recall for 04-05 Pacificas and after looking at pictures of other subframes for 04-05 models, they look just like mine (rusted w/holes). 06 Pacificas should also be in the recall. I did not call Chrysler because I felt I would get the same response as others. So now I have to pray every time I drive the vehicle that the subframe doesn't break. I still owe on the vehicle and can't afford another. Please do something!.

43 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2015

Today I was told that the engine cradle of my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica with 125214 miles was rusted out and needs to be replaced, will not pass nys inspection. Online I read that Chrysler is only are covering the 2004 and 2005 models. This is a extreme safety problem just like the defects in the 2004 and 2005 that Chrysler needs to cover.

44 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2015

I took my vehicle to ganley Dodge, bedford, ohio and it was pointed out to me that I needed a subframe because mine was rusting out very badly and it needs replacing. I have always taken my vehicle to this dealership and appearently they have failed on their inspection to find this item to be defective. They tell me that it rusted due to the fact that water enters the frame and it has no where to go except to make rust holes for the water to drain out.

45 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2015

Saturday I changed the oil and filter on my 2006 Pacifica. I almost had a heart attack when I saw that the cradle part of the frame, the cradle that holds the power train, was rusted. This was not surface rust but serious "metal missing" rust. The car is only 9 years old, has just over 72000 miles, has been in a garage every night and has had all periodic oil, filters, coolant, etc. Done on a prescribed basis. I have kept this vehicle in "mint" condition since one of my kids wants the car. I called walser Chrysler, a local dealership I have bought all my Mini vans, 300s and my Pacifica from. They gave me an 800 number. I called the 800 number which was a Chrysler office number. They pretended they had never heard of the problem and there was no recall or warranty offered by Chrysler. The frame of this vehicle and all the pacifics from 2004 to 2007 were Mercedes Benz frames. One would certainly assume that a mb frame, even though it was in a Chrysler product, should not rust through in nine years. It is almost inconceivable! if you google this cradle/frame problem on the internet you will be flooded with examples of what I found on my Pacifica. Yet Chrysler's warranty department has "never heard of the problem". Some writers claim Chrysler has approved repairs on their vehicles. In fact there is a page long form, not on Chrysler's letterhead, that states Chrysler has admitted to the defective faults, will repair or reimburse as necessary and covers all Pacificas from 2004 to 2007. One of the writers said the quote for fixing his cradle/frame was just under $4,000. I think where there is this defect on so very many vehicles it is time for Chrysler to step up. Add that if the cradle finally breaks the entire power train will fall out. The power train sits over the front axles so that would cause a horrid problem! enough is enough! any death will be on Chrysler!!!.

46 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2015

Today I was told that the engine cradle of my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica was rusted out and needs to be replaced. Online Chrysler says they only are covering the 2004 and 2005 years. I believe this is a extreme safety problem that Chrysler is overlooking.

47 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2015

The sub frame and engine cradle are completely rusted away! the vehicle was purchased new, garage kept and dealer serviced. The engine sub frame and cradle is rusted and gone from the vehicle. This is so unsafe! car sub frames never rust away. Chrysler is placing peoples lives in jeopardy! profit over lives. Please take some action on this serious life threatening issue.

48 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

I have a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica touring edition with less than 115,000 miles on it. The car runs flawlessly except for the sub frame rust corrosion that has eaten away the engine and car support underneath my car. I have read continuously that this is a common problem with this type of vehicle. My car is unsafe to drive and I fear I will get into an accident while driving it. I will be taking this car to Chrysler in paramus, NJ to find out what can be done on my behalf. Are there any recalls out there, or manufacturer warranties covering such major repairs. I am not in a position to purchase to new car right now. Please help.

49 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2014

I am the owner of the car and was told by my mechanic that the entire engine cradle is rusted / rotted thru and that the car is now unsafe to drive. Chrysler has issued an extended warranty of 10 years or 150,000 miles (whichever is 1st) for 2004-2005 but not for 2006, apparently I have the exact same rot & rust issue (so it was never resolved at Chrysler) but a less accommodating warranty to fix and address it.

50 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2014

My grandmother brought her 06 Pacifica in for an oil change at the dealership where she purchased the vehicle new in March of 2006 and has had all work done since. She was informed that she needed to have the sub frame (engine cradle) replaced immediately and the vehicle was unsafe to drive and that she should no longer operate the vehicle. Her car has just over 94,000 miles she needs to have over 5,000. 00 of work preformed on her car. From a quick search on the issue this is a very common issue with these vehicles and has caused several accidents with the failure of the sub frame causing the wheels to fall off the car.

51 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2014

My "subframe" broke off of the rear of my vehicle on both sides. When I backed out of a driveway, it sounded like I hit something, there was a clunk in the rear of the vehicle. Later that day, someone told me my rear wheels looked like they were tilting in. Not long after that, my daughter happened to be driving behind me and called and said there was a big metal thing hanging down under my car and my rear wheels were tilting in. I went to a local mechanic and it appears that it rusted and broke. The garage is currently looking for parts/repair information.

52 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2014

We have always had the car serviced at the Chrysler dealer and on this oil change were just informed about the extensive rust on the engine cradle. Did some research on the internet and found out that this is a common problem with Chrysler Pacifica and that Chrysler has extended the warrenty on only a few 2004 and 2005 models. I called Chrysler and they refused to help with any repairs saying that my vehicle was outside the extended warrenty models. There is a large rust hole in the engine cradle on one side and extensive rust on the other side.

53 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2014

Took vehicle to mechanic for oil change and was told the subframe and motor mounts were badly rusted and that I should contact the manufacturer immediately.

54 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2014

Took vehicle in for lube oil filter and service tech had me come in and look and the rusted frame. Quoted $1800 for a used frame to replace. I seen other complaints on line with the same problem and I am hoping to get some help with repair cost.

55 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2014

The engine frame cradle is rotting out. The the engine and transmission could potentially fall out of the vehicle. I contacted Chrysler and they stated that if it was a 2004/05 they would cover the repairs but not a 2006. This issue appears to be a common.

56 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2014

While having normal oil change, frame was found to have rust holes with rust coming from inside. By digging deeper found that many other cars in yrs. 2004-2007 have the same expensive repair problems. Also a major safety problem as this can cause a failure of front end components. No recalls or fixes from Chrysler. Would like to find out why not on this major problem.

57 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2014

My wife has a 2006 Pacifica with only 52000 miles on it and the engine cradle is rusting out. You can clearly see holes right through it. We use this car as a family vehicle to transport our 3 children around. We bought this brand new and loved it until this. These cars are built like garbage and are sold for top dollar. Why hasn't Chrysler recalled this? are they waiting for people to die? this is a serious problem ! maybe if some of Chrysler's executives drove these vehicles and put their families in them, the problems would be resolved. Shame on Chrysler ! so much for buying american huh? I have never bought a import ! I always was proud driving american made cars! basically this car is meant to fail ! I am not so proud now. . . That's for sure!.

58 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2014

I took my 2006 Pacifica in to a dealer on 7/18/2014 to have a noise coming from the front end inspected. The dealer told me that the tie rod bushings had failed for a second time in about a year. Then he told me that part of the problem was that the sub frame was rusting and cracking to to the point that the engine and transmission could fall out. I found out that Chrysler had a recall for 2004 and 2005 Pacificas with the same issue but would not cover it for any other years. The fact that they know they had a problem coupled with the number of issues that I have seen online, I don't understand why they wouldn't cover this failure on all model years. Why hasn't this been recalled? this will be the last Chrysler that I will ever buy.

59 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2014

I took my vehicle to my mechanic for it's regular tire rotation & oil change on July 9, 2014. He called me to come over and showed me the rust on the front of the subframe. I've religiously maintained this vehicle and had no idea that it was a known problem on the Pacifica. I've never received any notice advising me that it could be a problem and I've been a loyal Chrysler customer for at least the last 20 years. This car is only 8 years old!!!.

60 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2014

Vehicle was taken in to local dealership for a brake job and for issues with the ride and an odor in the interior cabin that appeared after prolonged acceleration. Upon inspection, it was reported that the vehicle was unsafe due to the sub-frame being rotted¿ and the motor mounts worn to such a degree that the engine could fall out of the vehicle entirely. The entire exhaust system was compromised as well, including the exhaust manifolds. In addition, much of the front suspension was shot and needed replacement. Our family purchased this vehicle new and have had it serviced many, many times at a Chrysler facility over the eight years we owned it. We were never informed once that the sub-frame had any sign of excessive corrosion until now. We believe the corrosion is the result of poor design and possibility poor material. We also believe the engine instability contributed to some of the other damage. The total repair bill exceeded $6,500.

61 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the sub frame needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000. Djr.

62 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2014

My 2006 Pacifica was just found to have significant engine cradle rust/corrosion issues. This problem just surfaced in the last 12 months. It is clear that Chrysler is not appropriately handling the issue since they are not covering the repair and there appears to be numerous complaints addressing this same problem.

63 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2014

The vehicle was brought in for state inspection on 6/16/14 and failed because the engine cradle was rusted out.

64 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2014

During routine oil change, significant rust-through was discovered on engine cradle. This car has been garaged all its life and only has 51,000 miles. I see through investigation that this problem has been occurring since 2004 and there seems to be no help from Chrysler for the 2006 model year. Well my days of being a "Chrysler and Dodge man" are over!.

65 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/28/2014

A few weeks before this happened, I noticed my rear tire leaning outward. Took it too the shop a few times wondering what was the cause. It was determined from a dealership it was the struts. I was told the Pacifica was known for it. So I had the struts replaced. It helped but the tire was still leaning, it wasn't perfect like the rest. I was told that there was no other reason because everything looked good underneath and suspension. I looked several times, myself. Not seeing any major rust or anything unsafe. Then driving on the freeway 150 mile's from home, at 70 mph, a hard bang and the rear end lifted up and dropped down. Car uncontrollable. Finally able to stop and realize the subframe dropped right out of the car leaving my rear differential on the ground. It had rusted from the top of the subframe down. Looked on line and seen it was happening to other people. Called Chrysler was told my problem. Hence my first american made car and my last. Pos!!!.

66 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2014

Took my 2006 Pacifica in for inspection. The engine cradle is rusted through and unsafe. I found out that there is extended coverage on some of these cars. I called Chrysler and was told I should pay for it (2500. 00) now and save my receipts because there may be a recall someday that will cover my car. They obviously know this is a major problem but are not standing behind their product. I have found several hundred complaints on multiple websites about this same issue and even found a petition on change. Org, which I signed. I also found that several people are trying to put together a class action lawsuit, count me in.

67 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2014

Like other early model chrylser Pacificas noted on the nhsta site- my vehicle was taken into for an oil change and the shop informed me the car was unsafe to drive due to the engine cradle/ subframe being rusted/rotted out so badly you could see through it. They said that if a large enough bump was rolled over, the engine could fall out and a serious accident could occur as the vehicle would more than likely lose control. I am now afraid to allow my wife and 2 small children to drive in it for extended periods of time. I purchased the vehicle used for roughly $10,000 less than a year prior to learning about this saftey issue from a Chrysler used and new car dealer-bryden motors in beloit, WI. I also purchased an $2000 extended warranty on the vehicle, which of course something like this is not covered in such a plan. I believe the damage was there prior to purchase and the dealer either failed to inform me, or didn't perform a well cared for inspection prior to the sale. Upon taking the vehicle back to the dealer-they said it was too far out from the original warranty and nothing could be done. They did take pictures and send to the Chrysler "imaging department" where the manufacturer defect claim I asked for them to place for me was immediately denied for coverage. I will be reaching out to Chrysler and the local media if necessary. This is a well known and serious saftey concern with the Pacifica model and due to the expense involved to fix (was told between $2500-$5000) absolutely ruins the value of the vehicle less than a year after purchase from what I though was a reputable dealer and a reputable brand such as chrylser. This is my 4rd chrylser/Dodge vehicle I have owned in the past 19 years, and if the matter is not resolved, it will ultimatley be my last.

68 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2014

During a routine oil change, a mechanic informed me that there was severe rust (50%) to the support system holding up the engine on the passengers side. The car only has 84,000 miles. He said that it is a very dangerous situation, that, if not repaired, would eventually break way and the engine would drop out of the support system. When I contacted Chrysler care, the intake operator basically read from a script and stated that my vehicle wasn't covered in the recall, even though the same part was affected, and that there was nothing that they could do to assist me. After doing some research online, I found over 700 other complants about the same issue. This is the third Chrysler that I have owned (and my second Pacifica) with 100% satisfaction until this point. Unless Chrysler deals with this issue to my satisfaction and my safety is they first concern, I will never own another Chrysler product again. I have taken pictures of the part in question and intend to puruse this issue until it is fixed!.

69 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2014

After having $1600. 00 of front end work on my vehicle the mechanic informed me that I should get rid of this car because the sub frame is severely rotted and not safe. This sub frame supports the whole engine and if it fails the engine will collapse to the ground. This vehicle has been well taken care of and there is no rot at all on any other part of the car. I've researched this vehicle and there was a recall for the 2004 and 2005 models. I've read hundreds of complaints about the same problems with these vehicles made in every year not just 2004-2005. I've contacted Chrysler and they say no help is available. It is defective steel that was used and I've had much older cars that the frame hasn't rotted through and I feel it's a deadly accident waiting to happen.

70 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2014

As I had my car serviced the mechanic told me my engine cradle is rusting out.
