1 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2026

Front subframe is completely corroded and rusted out. Engine is no longer safely supported. Problem has been confirmed by dealer. Manufacturer has been aware of this issue caused by substandard uncoated and unprotected steel used in the front subfram01e.

2 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2023

The engine cradle as well as the engine mounts along with the subframe have deteriorated uncommonly fast resulting in the vehicle involuntarily swerving into other lanes of traffic.

3 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2022

After fueling, especially if the take is full. The engine will die several times in the first 5 or more miles driven. Of course, this also means no power steering. You may be turning at an intersection, on a freeway or just traveling on a surface street. Still, you are without power and no power steering putting the car and occupants in danger. Usually, putting the car in neutral and starting gets you going again, at least until the next event. We have had as many a 5 such events on a 4. 5 mile drive home form the gas station. This has now progressed. The last fill up, the nozzle cut of several times and restart over and over to finally fill the take. We knew it could take more fuel, ultimately it took on 15 gallons. This time, even after the second day and about 20 miles on the car it will still die at random, especially at idle, say at a stop light. Also with this phenomenon, when the gas gouge gets to just below a half of a tank reading, it may suddenly drop to (e) empty. This is not a good feeling, even though we know it is a bogus reading. The gauge may or may not read correctly at about a half tank the next time the car is started, after an overnight rest. We suspect this may relate to the saddle bag fuel tank system. Currently the check engine light is on, solid, not flashing. However, this problem after a fill up has occurred when there was no check engine light active. Our mechanic is aware of the problems and we are scheduling a visit again and will make sure he is aware of all of these issues. Safety issue, yeah, like suddenly rear-ended or t boned with loss of power and almost impossible steering without power steering. Thankfully, the emergency flashers work fine.

4 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2020

Esp bas light came on and the steering wheel started to move left to keep the car going straight. Suddenly the right front tire hit the wheel housing and stopped. Upon inspection it was revealed the the cradle holding the front suspension had rusted and broke off. I was driving on a two lane state road and was able to pull to the shoulder.

5 Steering problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2019

The car shuts off while driving. I turn the ignition off and it cranks back up. It does this almost every other day. No codes come on the warning lights do not come on the car just shuts off. I know this is an older car and I just bought it but this is a hazard can cause an accident and potentially kill someone. After looking online this seems to be a common problem with these cars even the new models and I can't understand stand why there hasn't been a recall to fix this issue.

6 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2017

My engine light has been on since I got the care in may of 2012-, I have always had problems with air going low on the drivers side front tire, and recently my steering has become hard to move even though it has power steering has fluid in it. At times the vehicle will shut off when I back out or come to a stop at a light or stop sign.

7 Steering problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2017

My car stops running shortly after driving within a few minutes with zero warning. When this happens the power steering and breaks stop functioning. I have been able to successfully been able to restart the car and continue to my destination. This creates a defiant safety hazard and has happened randomly on multiple occasions. The stalling started at the time when the check engine light and gascap warning message came on - permanently. The mechanics have been unable to fine the problem and there are no computer code readings. Has there been a recall for this problem from Chrysler?.

8 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2016

My husband was driving the car 2 days after we purchased it. He was coming down a slight incline and trying to yield and turn at an intersection. The power steering went out and the brakes locked up so he could not stop or control the direction of the vehicle. It was very scary with young children in the back seats! no warning lights or sounds alerted him to the failure of the steering or brakes.

9 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2016

My daughter gave me this car for my birthday in 2007 with a red bow on it. I was very surprise. After the first 6 months I began having problems. The problem I am having now is something that was repaired before. I had this issue about 3 years ago. While I am driving, the car just shut off, stalling in the middle of the traffic. The steering becomes very hard. Many times I was in fear of an accident many times. I am disappointed with this car.

10 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2015

Bought in 2007 used, 16000 miles. Last two years, stalls sometimes at low speeds. Loses all power, will not steer, cannot brake. Occurs too randomly to predict. Very dangerous when making turns to join traffic flow as cannot stop or steer car while rolling. Latest example 12/7/15 - nearly at a stop on slight decline, ready to merge with street traffic from parking lot. Suddenly lost power and brake stopped responding and locked up. Steering locked up. Was slowly rolling into oncoming traffic.

11 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2015

Have owned a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica for almost 3 years now - bought it used and enjoy most features of this car having waited for a few years to purchase one after having recurring (and costly) repair issues with my previous Chrysler (cirrus. ) however, for the past year, I've experienced intermittent stalling issues with my car - while operating/driving and I am now terrified of the what "ifs" since I thought we'd resolved the issue just over a month ago when replacing my egr valve. This was a huge expense particularly since I've been underemployed for a while now, but then again today while driving with my young daughter the issue happened again!! I too have had my share of being inconvenienced by taking to multiple mechanics and repair shops saying they need to "mimick" the issue in order to find the problem. Since this issue occurs intermittently, how is that exactly suppose to happen??? Chrysler corporate really needs to step up and address this issue ASAP since this appears to be a major issue and possible defect on the products themselves used when manufacturing this car and/or a huge defect of this particular make and model of vehicle, in general! Chrysler - please hear us before you all are faced with an even larger penalty than the ones used to recently bail you out - please don't make a further mockery of the process by ignoring the voice of your consumer on such a major health and safety concern. To echo the words of another complaint I came across in my research of this specific issue. . . The price to replace a defect is much less than that of a human life!!.

12 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2015

The vehicle was turning into parking space, acted like the traction control engaged, power steering function was lost. Vehicle was put in park, engine turned off. Restarted at that time. Owner assumed incident resulted from a slip on fresh rain concrete and resulted in traction control engagement due to sensitivity of traction control feature. This is really not necessary at < 10 mph. Second incident: one week later to the day on July 10, 2015, the vehicle rolled to a stop on residential road. The vehicle passed over an insignificant, small pile of dead loosed grass on right side of vehicle during its rolling to a stop mode. Vehicle steering locked up and engine stalled. Owner made numerous attempts to restart but had to wait 10 minutes before vehicle would restart and park it. Dealership has been notified-appointment scheduled to diagnose.

13 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2015

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving at an unknown speed, the steering wheel veered to the right. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for the failure. The dealer replaced the bushing, the cradle, and the motor mounts; however, the remedy failed to repair the failure. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 67,000.

14 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2014

Several instances of stalling with absolutely no warning at approximately 40 mph. Car does start back up but stalls at random intervals. Has been seen at multiple shops with no errors, codes or problems found.

15 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2014

This is not the first time that my car has stalled out while going under 40 mph, also when making a turn it will stall and I have no brakes or power steering! it is very scary. I almost got hit because of this issue!! I have researched it and found that there are numerous complaints about the Chrysler Pacifica's stalling under the same conditions as mine. There needs to be a recall or something needs to be done. Especially since it is my family car and I have two daughters under the age of 3. I do not want or need a fatality wreck to occur before they do something! I am extremely scared to drive now and it is our only vechile!.

16 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2014

I was slowing down to yield at a rotary and my car suddenly shut down causing the brakes and steering to not work almost causing a major accident. The same thing occurred several minutes later.

17 Steering problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2014

I was driving approximately 30 mph when my power steering stopped working and I noticed my engine had also stopped. I struggled to steer to the side of the road. I turned the key off (the engine was already off). I waited a minute and started the vehicle without a problem. I drove directly to my mechanic where he could not find a problem. This has happened 2 more times (for a total of 3 times). All when I was driving between 30 - 40 mph. The first indication of a problem is when I loose power steering and notice the engine has cut-out.

18 Steering problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2014

While driving approximately 35 mph, car lost power and steering became very difficult. After reaching a stop I put the car in park and was able to restart it. This has now happened on 5 separate occasions, with children in the vehicle. Dealership service was not helpful in remedying this problem. Additionally, despite recalls for this problem in previous years, there is no apparent solution for this. This problem has occurred both in my neighborhood and on surface streets, which make this a significant safety hazard as there is minimal (if any) opportunity to get the vehicle to a safe location to re-start. I have had regular service to the vehicle and it has been used primarily for work and errands. However, the motor mounts have had to be replaced 3 times and this latest issue has compounded the problem.

19 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2014

This vehicle tends to stall at or below 35 mph. Have been to independent mechanics and Chrysler and no one can seem to figure out why it stalls. When it stalls there is a loss of control of the car and is very dangerous especially when in rush hour traffic. My wife drives this vehicle along with my 3 children. I have seen numerous complaints on this matter and I am quite surprised there has not been a recall.

20 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2014

While driving, the engine just stopped/stalled. Steering, brake and gas pedals stopped functioning. I have to wait until the car fully stopped. Scary and feels so helpless in the middle of the road!.

21 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2013

Purchased the Pacifica touring awd in September/October, 2013. It was in fabulous condition. A couple of months later, I experienced my first of eight occurrences wherein the vehicle shut off without warning. Once the engine shut off, power brakes and power steering didn't function properly, likely because the engine was no longer running. Five of these eight occurrences have been within one mile of my residence. Additionally, it occurred once in a parking lot, once in an intersection, and once as I was getting onto an interstate highway. A few of the occurrences almost resulted in accidents. I was at the mercy of the other drivers in those cases. I have six grandchildren. I'm hesitant to take them on trips because I have no confidence in my Pacifica's safety and reliability. My vehicle safety complaint seems eerily similar to numerous other owner's 2007 Pacifica safety complaints. I pray Chrysler will investigate this issue to determine what is causing the engine failure before a precious life is lost. Chrysler, please identify the cause and notify the owners of the fix soonest. It makes no sense to continue neglecting these safety claims. I'm certain $$$ is causing your hesitation to investigate; however, it will seem like pennies compared with the cost you will undoubtedly pay due to negligence in the event of injury or fatality. Thanks in advance for hearing my concern, diagnosing the problem, identifying the solution, and quickly implementing your plan to repair the affected vehicles. Safety has a price, but human life is priceless.

22 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2013

My Chrysler Pacifica has a power steering problem. Powersteering goes out while driving every once and a while. Now it has been happening daily. There seems to be a leak and on one occasion smell of burning from the engine. I have seen that this has been a issue with 2007 Chrysler Pacificas and I have children in the vehicle. It is dangerous and should be addressed! also car shuts of while driving which is also very dangerous!!!.

23 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2013

While driving from cold start vehicle dies every morning at least one time loose power steering and breaks makes it hard to come to a stop or turn this I see is a problem with others someone needs to get this checked out. No check eng light or any warning I'm able to pop it into neutral and restart but am afraid to let wife drive due to her lack of experience. .

24 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

When cornering at low speeds there is a loud rubbing noise (like a tire rubbing in the wheel well) coming from the front of the vehicle. I can feel it both in the steering wheel and brake pedal. When I got new tires, I had the mechanic check the wheel wells for rub marks and he did not find any. He stated that the tires were not rubbing anywhere.

25 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2013

The vehicle dies--especially when coasting toward a stop sign or light, or down hills--usually at lower speeds, though several times at speeds of 40 mph. The power brakes and power steering cease. The only option is to shift into neutral and restart the car. Going around corners at speeds higher that 25 is difficult, this car has been in the shop several times for the same thing; they can't really find anything wrong but have charged me over $2500 this year alone. I'm afraid to drive this as this has been happening on nearly a daily basis. And taking it to the dealer seems futile. Is this part of the recall? I'd hate to see my wife or someone else injured or killed because the safety systems on the vehicle stopped working at the same time--such as happened with the gm products.

26 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2012

Driving at <15mph and at >45mph speeds the whole car shuts off. No engine lights no warning just cuts off. Still continuing the issue has been looked at and since no lights are on they cant find it. I haul my 3 granddaughters in this car and the safety worries me about it.

27 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

When driving, our 07 Pacifica will randomly lose power and there will be no brakes and no steering. I have to put it in neutral and restart the engine while the car is still in motion. This has occurred on the freeway and also around town. It is most noticeable when I am approaching a corner or stop light/ stop sign and slowing down to turn or to stop. On the freeway, I was not slowing down or preparing to stop when it happened. The check engine light and etc light (electronic throttle control light) come on when it happens. We have taken our car to non-Chrysler dealerships/auto shops over the summer because it's less expensive to scan. The car was in the shop three times this summer, and the problem was not corrected. This is a frightening occurance and we may have to take it in to our Chrysler dealership anyway.

28 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2012

First week in June I sent my Chrysler Pacifica to athens Dodge Chrysler Jeep in bogart GA. The steering was locking up on my wife. I figured it was maybe the power steering. The tech informed me that the motor mounts were again broken and they replaced the right one for the third time. I read in social car chat rooms that the motor mounts are failing in just about all these type cars, and that Chrysler was not going to cover the costs. I now have a car that no one will buy or at least I wouldn't because it can't hold its own engine. I know this is a consumer concern just wanted to point that out. My main concern is the steering locking up with my family on board. Motor mounts are not supposed to break unless there is a major accident. In my opinion this is a manufacturers design flaw that they are dumping on us consumers. I mean if they told me the motor mounts were going to be a maintenance issue I would have never bought the car. This is absolutely ridiculous, and now my concern is the safety of my family. Please advise me on what I can do to find some kind of help with this. I am not the only one. Where else can I complain and steer others to. Kerry roe.

29 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2011

As I was coming out of a parking lot at a minimum speed about to make a right turn the car suddenly cut off. The steering wheel locked and I was unable to make turn, then as suddenly as it shut off it came back on in mid turn. This has occurred to me several times approx a year after buying this veh in 2010 and on several different occasions, at various speeds but always as I would commit to making a right turn would the steering wheel lock up on me and the car shut down.

30 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2011

Rear engine mounts are defective in vehicle, the engine is shifting within the car causing it to hit the transmission. Additionally, the control arm within the car is broken and loose. There was a recall on the 2008 Chrysler Pacifica for the same problem because the driver can loose control of the vehicle while in operation. My 2007 is currently being looked at for this issue. Cause as stated by mechanic: internal failure of the steering gear and both lower control arms busshings broken and loose.

31 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2010

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica touring. While driving 35 mph and other speeds, the steering wheel locked. The contact pulled over, turned the vehicle off and restarted it; the power steering reset itself. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer twice where the motor mounts were replaced. The failure continued. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.

32 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2009

When turning to the right or the left I can hear a rubbing type noise. I took it into the two different dealers on two separate occasions complaining of the noise, but the dealers could not duplicate the problem. When I turn I hear a rubbing noise and now when I reverse there is a loud grinding/rubbing noise similar to the noise that I get when turning. The noise generally occurs first thing in the morning after I have started my car and reverse it. If my car has been sitting for a while it will do the noise then too! I'm unsure what is causing the noise and since the dealers can't duplicate it they have not done anything either. I'm quite concerned as to what can be causing these noises and I do believe that they are linked! I noticed another Pacifica owner had the same problem as I did so now I know it's not just my car.

33 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2008

Vehicle caught fire. Fire started in the engine, but was not noticed when the vehicle was shut off. It smoldered then ignited entire vehicle. Nothing unusual was noticed when driving the vehicle, or when shutting off the engine. The engine size is 4. 0 ltr.

34 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2008

I have had multiply issues with my 2007 Chrysler Pacifica-from the beginning a popping and clicking noise from the transmissions/results from dealership motor mounts went bad¦repaired several times over the years. Another issue is my car is just go dead while driving on the freeways/streets etc¦took it to the dealership and they have not been able to repair or see the issue. I know it¿s something wrong and this is scary driving this car.
