36 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2018

At a stop light in the turn lane I lifted my foot off the brake to drive as the light turned green. I hit the gas and nothing happened. I looked and the screen said to put the car in park. I put the car in park and then the screen said that I needed to stop/start restart the car. I turned the car off and tried turning it back on. There was a clicking noise, the engine would not start but everything else powered back on. I did this a couple of times and every time I tried starting the car there was just clicking and it would not start. I turned the car off again, opened the car door so that everything would power off. I then closed the door and it started back up.

37 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2018

While idling at a light and pressing pedal to go. My 2017 Chrysler Pacifica failed. Lights started. Flashing in dust cycling through check abs, check tire pressure, etc. . . Car was in drive and was rolling backwards with breaks and steering not working. This resulted in an accident rolling into the vechical behind us. The nice individual the we crashed into was able to catch the failure on his dash cam. We have brought in the van on other occasions to have it looked at for transmission wanting to launch forward when going from idle. They still can not figure it out and told use no record in service reports with other having any problems. After a 10 second search we found others have had similar problems with same make and model. These. Can be found on consumers reports. With. Out a guarantee the breaks and steering will not go out again I do not want the car back. I. Just. Want my money back. The sell this thing as a safe family vehicle, but loosing breaks and steering is not what I want my family in. They still can not figure out way it happens.

38 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2018

On may 9, 2018 I shifted from park to drive, with my foot on the brake, while my 10 year old son was getting into the van. The door automatically closed, he panicked as he saw it closing and tried to jump out- the door closed on him and he was stuck for 30 seconds to 1 minute. The door was not responsive to opening by pushing the button and finally re-opened when I put it back in park. It left a bruise on his arm for approximately 10 days, he was not injured. Chrysler investigated the incident but could not replicate the problem. In addition, the van will hard knock/shift, usually at low speeds and has stalled out while attempting to accelerate in traffic multiple times. This is a major safety concern. This started happening after it was taken in to get the safety recall transmission update. Chrysler cannot replicate this problem and has no stored data in the computer showing problems have occurred. I am deeply concerned with these issues and the safety of my vehicle. While I am satisfied with the level of concern and response Chrysler provided due to the door incident, I think there are many improvements that need to be made to make this vehicle safer. I have owned multiple vans and can say that the mechanical doors on this van are very slow to react to objects in the way of closing and will close very hard before re-opening. The shifting issue is very, very concerning and Chrysler's lack of concern regarding the issue is even more concerning.

39 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2018

Engine shuts off and prompts to put car into park to restart while driving.

40 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2018

The option to stop engine at a light or stop sign does not work at least 1/2 of the time. The engine revs up and wants to push us into traffic.

41 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2018

Brand new. . . Owned less than a month. . . 750 miles. . . We live at the top of a very steep hill with a sharp curve at the bottom. I reversed out of my driveway onto the street and shifted the van into drive. I felt the car go into gear and I started rolling down the hill, as it's a steep incline you pick up speed quickly. As the van gained speed down the hill something felt "wrong" and I suddenly realized I wasn't in full control of the vehicle. With the sharp curve quickly approaching I stomped the brake and brought the van to a stop. I put the van in park at the bottom of the hill and tried understand what was going on. I put the van back in drive, felt it go into gear but when I tried to accelerate nothing happened. Put in it reverse, felt it go into gear and it started to go backwards a little herky jerky but when I pressed the accelerator nothing happened. I had to put it back in park, turn it off and then restart it before it I could drive it back up to my house. I took it to the dealership the next morning. Turns out it was the day after the dealer received notice of the recall. I was told my VIN number fell under the recall, my pcm needed new software and they couldn't do anything until Chrysler provided the fix which wasn't expected until April and they couldn't even sell the ones on the lot. Call Chrysler! I have called Chrysler almost everyday for the last 2 weeks and all I get is a "sorry but I can't do anything, waiting to hear from the regional supervisor". I live in atlanta and if that happened on I-285 (5-6 lanes) you would be roadkill! there is absolutely no way in hell you could stop the car, put it in park, stop the engine and then restart safely. At this point it's a $32k rolling death trap that Chrysler won't/can't deal with. . . 100% unsafe for my wife and 3 kids!.

42 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2017

2017 Pacifica continues after multiple attempts to repair to drop/slip out of gear while driving with no warning and then suddenly thrusts back into gear causing the entire car to jerk forward as though we have been hit from behind. These issues happen under 20mph and there is no way to control what is happening. Our necks are forced forward and the sudden shock of the movement forward is not possible to stop. The problem began in December of 2017 and after 4-5 visits to the service I still have no resolution 2 years later.

43 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2017

I was driving in a neighborhood area approaching my community service event at a boys and girls club. Searching for street parking, I was about to slow down releasing my accelerator pedal and suddenly the car stalls. I safely steer to the right and make a stop in attempt to move out of the way in a busy street. The screen on my car instructs me to put my gear back to park in order to continue, I shift it to park as it says on the screen and the screen instruction remains the same. The start button light is indicating that my car is still on so I shift my gear to drive and stepped on my accelerator pedal. The engine revs, but it does not move. I put my gear back to park and pushed the button to turn the engine off. Then I push the start button again to turn it back on. This time I shift it to drive and I am finally able to drive forward. I was stuck in the stalled position for a few minutes in a panic trying to figure out what was going on. Imagine if this happened on a freeway or a very busy major street. It would be very dangerous to me and my family as well as other drivers around. I demand a safety recall for the safety of my family and others.

44 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2017

This happened on 2 different occasions. On one occasion we were stopping on a red light and when we wanted to accelerate again on a green light the vehicle stalled and engine was about to turn off but did not. On another occasion the vehicle accelerated ok but shortly after it started stalling for few seconds and decelerated significantly before gaining speed again. It took more than 5 seconds to gain speed and accelerate again.

45 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2017

Date of incident 11/29/2017: we have a 2017 Chrysler pacific with 17,000 miles. While pulling into a parking spot the vehicle accelerated on its own, causing a minor collision. Chrysler dealership did a scan and found no error codes.

46 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2017

On 4 occasions I lost ability to accelerate. I push on the gas and the car won't go. It just stops or stalls. The power is on but car won't go. I seem to lose some power steering. Twice this was while making a left turn with traffic coming toward me on a busy street. I was stalled in the middle of the road . Finally the van began to work again and shot me forward abruptly. Today 11/27/17 I brought it to Chrysler dealership. They are telling me a software update will fix it but I'm skeptical and afraid to drive it.

47 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2017

Vehicle purchased in December 2016 for $44,000 from safford of fredericksburg. On October 14, 2017, I was driving with my wife, three children and mother-in-law and experienced a loud malfunction that rendered the car inoperable. Luckily we were not on the highway at the time and the vehicle was eventually towed to safford of fredericksburg, virginia for repairs. The right front axel had ruptured (total miles on the car were 8,311 at that time). The service agent (jim bogan) noted that this had been flagged on other occasions as identified issues at other service department requiring the next "generation" of axel assembly parts for the repair. Shortly after receiving the vehicle, we returned to the same dealership to address a loud girding noise also associated with the right front axel. In early December, 2017 we had the vehicle towed once again to safford of fredericksburg where they again had to repair the right from axel. Intermittently and over the past year while these issues were occurring, we continued to experience electronic issues with the sliding doors and rear lift hatch as well. The uconnect entertainment system will also malfunction from time to time. Several software updates have been initiated, addressing window and transmission concerns according to the dealership's service department. Yet, the vehicle does not function properly, where idle and transmission functioning often appears compromised (rough idle, rough shifting, sudden rpm increases and acceleration bursts when shifting from reverse to drive). I fear this car is not safe for my wife and three young children.

48 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2017

On multiple occasions over the past 6 months, this vehicle has lost power, causing the driver to have no ability to steer the vehicle, accelerate, or brake until it comes to a complete stop. This has happened under a range of different circumstances - while driving less than 15 mph in a parking lot and also while driving approximately 25 mph. There are numerous reports of others experiencing the same sudden loss of power on online forums (e. G. , Pacificaforums. Com), and some of these occurrences have been registered at higher speeds. Each time we have brought it to a Chrysler service center, mechanics have advised that all diagnostic tests do not reveal any issues and efforts at driving the vehicle to replicate the issue similarly come back negative. All others who claim to have experienced similar problems with their Pacifica have reported similar negative test results, with no remediation proposed. This is an unacceptable risk. We can be contacted at 703-400-8667 or 215-805-7793. Thank you.

49 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2017

Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that when going downhill with the cruse control in use, the vehicle independently increases speeds. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle would down shift two gears and the rpm's would increase to 2000. The vehicle was taken to bryden motors inc dealer, located on 548 brad st, beloit, WI 53511, where the failure was duplicated and the dealer stated that the vehicle was functioning as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed that it was normal and did not offer further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 2,300. Aw.

50 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2017

Last night, while driving approx 40mph, our brand new 2017 Pacifica ltd shut down. The engine suddenly, with no warning, just stopped. The dot above the 'd' (for drive) started flashing, and a message flashed: 'shift to p to start. ' we came to a stop in the middle of the road. I put it in park and then was able to turn it back on. I had both hands on the wheel, so I never touched the starter button. The key fob was in my purse, which was not moved. Thankfully we were not on a highway, so nobody ran into us. I dropped it off at the dealership this morning, and they just told me they cannot recreate the error. We've had it for about 2 weeks, and we've driven it 1500 miles, mostly highway.

51 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2017

The vehicle has 950 miles on it, a rotatory gear shift know, and an electronic parking brake. At home I park the vehicle on a level surface. I do not engage the parking brake when I leave the vehicle. On quite a few occasions when I enter the vehicle and turn on the engine, the parking-brake light comes on and the brake is engaged even though I did not set it. For most occurrences, I can press the parking brake button, and the light will go off and the brake will disengage. However, on some occasions, pressing the brake button gives no response. If I turn the engine off and then back on, the brake then disengages. A few times I have had to turn the engine on and off more than one time to get the brake disengaged. A more series problem with the parking brake is that on several occasions the brake has suddenly come on while I am driving. This has occurred when I have started the engine and driven about 100 feet. It has occurred when I am moving forward and when I am backing up. The brake suddenly engages and brings the vehicle to an abrupt halt. On these occasions pressing the brake button gave no response. I had to turn the engine off and back on. On 7/5 I stopped at a pharmacy drive-up window, and put the vehicle into park. After my transaction, I rotated the gear knob to drive, and the parking brake light then went on. I pressed the brake button multiple times, and the light would not go out. I then turned the engine off and back on. (to do this I had to have pressure on the brake pedal. ) when I turned the engine back on the vehicle took off at significant speed, and I crashed into a street light pole. When a tow truck came to get the vehicle the truck operator found that the vehicle gear knob was in the park gear. He had a good deal of difficulty in getting the vehicle into neutral gear for the towing process. Have pictures upon request.

52 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2017

Car's go from 60 mph at the crest of a hill to 70 mph with the cruise contrl set at 60 mph.

53 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2017

We were driving (in motion) car across tapenzee bridge (highway) and it stopped, (completely, no coasting etc) out of no where, no warning. Car eventually restarted after it was put in park and ignition was activated again. Since incident, car has stalled twice with no warning but has not shut off completely like it did on bridge.

54 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2017

Vehicle cutoff while driving and then had to be put in park to be restarted since it is a push to start. When put in drive the vehicle jolted harshly and made a dinging sound.

55 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2017

The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the vehicle lunged forward while being driven 15 mph. The failure occurred without warning. The manufacturer and dealer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.

56 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

A very serious issue , wheels spinning and transmission shuddering problem on my new 2017 chyrsler Pacifica model, occurs more sharply and frequently on wet roads. While shifting to drive mode and picking up from idle position at signals & turns the vehicle shakes, wheels don't grab the roads, transmission slips, vehicle shudders, loses momentum and halts momentarily in the middle of the road, and this is worst on inclined roads. I barely escaped an accident today when vehicle stopped in the middle of the road while trying to take a turn at an intersection and wheels kept spinning, transmission kept shuddering and car wasn't moving anywhere. I complained a few times with Chrysler dealer, they said inspection does not find any error code. The issue is so apparent and can be replicated easily by just driving it once. It's a serious manufacturing defect and it can cause serious accidents and death. I intend to pursue this seriously with Chrysler and hope they are able to fix. If anybody has any similar experience, please post it here.

57 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2017

Tl the contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle inadvertently rolled. Additionally, there was a clicking in the steering wheel while driving. The contact stated that the vehicle was difficult to steer. The contact also stated that the vehicle jerked while changing gears. The contact stated that the accelerator went to the floorboard however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact was concerned about rust to the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an auto body shop and the vehicle was provided a rust treatment however, the rust spot increased in size after the treatment. The vehicle was taken to victory Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (45 naber dr, shallotte, nc 28470, (910) 356-9867) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The mechanic sealed the steering column with lock tight sealant however, the clicking sound returned and the vehicle remained difficult to steer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The approximate failure mileage 7,000.

58 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2016

While driving our minivan it stalls or it seems like the gas isn’t getting to the engine. It has happened when I’ve been accelerating from a side road across a very busy road on more thank e occasion. We thought it was the gas we were using. Now we’ve been advised it is due to a “crank shaft sensor”. (?) we may not be eligible to get it fixed because we got our 2017 Pacifica in oct 2016, drove it approx. 15,000 miles/ year so we may not be able to get it fixed for free.

59 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2016

Acc & fcw. Mine did not work. The dealer had my car for 2 weeks. They had to contact the Chrysler engineer & was told to replace & re-calibrate. So after being replaced it somewhat works. After the new parts, my car will still brake hard when a car in the adjacent lane is exiting (as if the car was braking in front of me). But, if a car changes lanes directly in front of me or slams on brakes directly in front of me my car doesnt react? Chrysler has definitely fallen short on this function. I've owned vehicles where this function worked nearly flawless. Chrysler says its as good as its going to get. Another misrepresentation on this feature! I'm disappointed. Chrysler claims the Pacifica to be the quietest vehicle in its class. After driving it about 8 months now, I hate it. It's as noisey as a small car. "acoustically sound with its active noise cancellation (anc), subduing engine and street noise through white-noise wavelengths played through all speakers throughout the vehicle". The anc is in all trim levels. Chrysler at this point doesn't even have a way to test the product to see if the anc is working! star tech support of Chrysler is still trying to figure out how to test this feature!!! I had a Chrysler customer service rep tell me that the anc was for my cell phone, lol, I was like are you sure you work for Chrysler?? third, is the suspension and rear sway of the vehicle. When there are only 2 people up front it's not noticeable. But when we have 5-6 people it's noticeable. Chrysler customer service tried to tell me I had the van over capacity. Really! so my 7 passenger van was over capacity with 5 people (4 adults, 1 child, 3 luggage)? again are you sure you work for Chrysler?? fourth, my key fob randomly loses connection. Fifth, I had the a/c failure and my a/c had to be replaced. I have requested a buy back. Too many misrepresentations.

60 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/23/2016

Speedometer not reporting correct vehicle speed. While barely touching accelerator vehicle reported me driving 67 mph. I was driving according to speedometer 47 mph, I was pulled over by an officer who stated I was clocked at 67 mph.

61 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2016

I have a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica equipped with a fcw (frontal collision warning system). I have owned and driven other cars with this system that have operated without issue. The fcw in the Pacifica has three settings that can be selected by the driver for sensitivity. Near, medium and far. I have tried all settings without any difference. The system does not audibly warn the driver of a possible impending collision at any speed or distance under almost all daily driving scenarios. This includes heavy traffic, city and highway, and situations with frequent abrupt stops. I have driven 4,135 miles in two weeks in very heavy traffic with lots of emergency breaking with no warning from the fcw on the Pacifica. The system has activated once with an approximate distance of 5-7 feet, upon approaching a Chrysler 200 at at approximately 25 mph. The dealer technician states no codes are in the system, and therefor it is functioning. I discussed this matter with the customer service manager at the local dealership who is escalating the matter to Chrysler dealer support for further evaluation and follow-up after he experienced my issue on a test drive. In addition, this vehicle does not operate per the videos Chrysler publishes on its website as an example of fcw on its cars. Based on my experience with other vehicles equipped with fcw, I believe the fcw on the Pacifica is not properly calibrated to warn drivers of impending collisions via an audible alert as described in marketing materials and in comparison to other vehicles I have driven with this feature.
