Failure Date: 03/11/2026

The vehicle has no power going up hills or accelerating and just stops and doesn't move. To get the car to move again you have to turn the car off and back on. Even if you put the car in l it can still just go back in regular drive on its own an cut out with no acceleration.

3 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2026

Bad engine at 67,000 miles for a blown head gasket. Service records up to date,.

4 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2026

The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped at a red light, the vehicle made an abnormal sound and the transmission unexpectedly shifted from drive(d) to park(p) and the vehicle shut off. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The contact stated that the failure occurred once a week. The contact also stated that the battery had previously been replaced. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that no cause of failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.

5 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2025

When driving the car with not shift for a long time and then shifts hard into gear. I can also smell an odor some times. I have kids I don’t want to be driving and it cause me to wreck or catch fire. Other people I know had the same problem. This needs to be addressed.

6 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2025

Internal failure of the electronic shifter assembly. Essentially the shifter would lock into place in undesired gear-for example-attempt to move into d, would move to r and lock up so the only way we could get it to stop moving/into desired gear was to immediately power off (even though not in p) and try again on restart (which is very scary thinking your car may reverse or move foward w/no ability to stop it). This occurred on multiple occasions prior to bring to dealer, when children present in the car, and did not consistently occur every ignition. Currently vehicle is at cornerstone Ford/Chrysler/GMC in elk river and they have ordered the part (nationwide backorder), estimated stock date w/in 7d but suspect seeing nationwide shortage-is this shortage due to many vehicles needing replacement-that alone would make me suspect need for safety recall! the vehicle hasn't been inspected by anyone but the dealer, no warning lights/messages/other symptoms that we noted.

7 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2025

The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that upon reversing out of the driveway, the contact attempted to shift out of reverse(r), but the gear shifter remained stuck in reverse(r). The contact noticed that the gear shifter indicator light was inoperable. The contact stated that the vehicle felt like it was in neutral(n) and was rolling backwards. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to respond upon depressing the brake pedal and continued to roll. The contact engaged the parking brake, and the vehicle stopped. The contact stated that upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated as intended; however, the failure became a recurring failure. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the failure recurred. The vehicle became inoperable, and the contact pulled to the side of the road. The message "service gear shifter" and other unknown messages were displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The dealer replaced the gear shifter assembly, and the ground wires were tightened; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was advised to call back after taking the vehicle back to the dealer, and the engineers would assist the dealer in diagnosing and repairing the vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure NHTSA action number: rq24004 (electrical system). The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

8 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2025

The transmission is starting to jerk and make hard abrupt transitions from gears.

9 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2025

Engine shut down warning while on the highway stating to pull over as the engine was going to shut down. No power to accelerate during this time. This is the second time this has happened and the first time the transmission needed to be replaced under warranty. The problem persists despite Chrysler’s attempts to fix.

10 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2025

As I'm driving down the road my mil comes on and tells me to pull over the engine will shut off. My vehicle has had the recall completed. This happened to me on the interstate with my family in the van. This is our only vehicle for the family and need it everyday. Now my dealership is telling me that it isn't a recall issue and I might have to pay for the repairs. This light started coming on about a week ago, and doesn't always come on. But it started to happen more frequently.

11 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2025

Our Pacifica has repeatedly stalled on freeways. The engine will just stop running and will not start for 15 minutes to several hours. If it does start, it often will sputter and stall again if you try to put it in ear or press the accelerator. After some time, the problem will resolve itself and the vehicle will drive normally. This problem is infrequent which is what makes it so vexing. Each incident was more than 6 months apart so you never know when it will just stall out. Because our van was converted to a rear entry wheelchair van by braunability we've had the conversion components/connections thoroughly inspected by the conversion company dealer. I can see online that this is a known issue with multiple vehicles equipped with the pentastar v6 engine with stop-start and that there have been recalls but many people on the forum, the recall work didn't resolve the issue. We've had the vehicle to Chrysler dealers several times (four or five) to address the issue without permanent resolution. We've replaced the primary and secondary batteries several times. We've recently installed an aftermarket stop-start eliminator recently in the hope that it will resolve the problem. Additionally, because our Pacifica was converted for our disabled child, we will probably need to sell the vehicle at a significant loss because we can't risk having the vehicle stall on the interstate highway or freeway as we have no way to remove him from it safely. This issue seems so widespread that Chrysler/stellantis should have continued responsibility to resolve it permanently.

12 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2025

Over six months later, NHTSA campaign number: 24v538000 still has no remedy for an apparent fire risk! I can't charge my vehicle and I can't park it in my own garage. I drive at risk of being in the midst of a spontaneous fire! the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for my vehicle in a timely manner. I bought a plug in hybrid that I can't plug in. I bought it also for gas mileage complimented by the electrical propulsion system, which I cannot use. All the while, a spontaneous fire risk, without a fully known cause, continues to lurk in the car that I drive my kids to school in.

13 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2024

Head gasket failure at 68500 miles. It causes a misfire in the engine and could cause an accident from the car bucking once it consumes the engine coolant and also causes overheating and a lot of smoke to come out of the tailpipe making it less visible for others on the road to see, if behind a car like mine.

14 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2024

Lost of coolant with no warning lamps. Engine went into hydrolock and now will not start. Miss fire code appearing before locking up. Dash light power come on and off when the car is off and park. The car has 77k miles and would choke when the car was running and changing gears. Has not been inspect by anyone yet because the car is dead on the drive way.

15 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2024

Van engine failed during driving. This is a known issue by Chrysler and they will not repair the underlying problem - this is related to a prior recall. Instead, it only suggested replacing the battery which is a temporary fix. Separately, this van has a pending recall due to a fire risk. Unable to use the plug-in hybrid function of the van nor park it in a garage due to the recall issue. It has been almost four months since the recall notice without any news of when Chrysler will fix this problem. I requested a buy back due to the inherent risk of severe injury from simply being inside this van but was denied.

16 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2024

On [xxx] around 12:00 pm, while traveling northbound in the hov lane at 70 mph on [xxx] near [xxx] , with two small children in the passenger row and two adults in the front, the following error suddenly appeared on the dashboard: "stop safely -- vehicle will shut off soon. " power to the engine stopped as a result and the car coasted. A "red turtle" warning and a "check engine" error also displayed. No other errors, unfamiliar sounds, or mechanical noises preceded these errors, nor had there been any other recent problems with the car. We pulled over to the shoulder immediately and turned the car off for approximately 5 minutes to see whether the errors would persist. With the "stop safely" error no longer on the dashboard, we turned the car on again and drove it to the dealership. On that drive, the previous errors appeared a second time. The dealership, carl burger Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram world (la mesa CA), has confirmed that the transmission needs to be replaced and that it is unsafe to drive the vehicle until the transmission is replaced. On August 30, 2024, the dealership said that they are waiting for stellantis to release the transmission and "that won't happen any time soon. " as of today, September 2, 2024, carl burger has failed to provide a timeline for the replacement and have informed us that we must deal with stellantis in order to get the case escalated and the car repaired. They have also refused to offer us a replacement/loaner vehicle while ours is in the shop. . Read more...

17 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2024

Car seems to slip out of drive. In the dashboard the d will start blinking and I can no longer accelerate. The message says to shift to park and back to drive. If this happens on time, I can start going again. If I can't get it to register that I've shifted, I will not be able to accelerate and I need to pull off the road. Once I come to about 1 or 2 mph, the shifter knob will turn itself to park and the car will slam the parking break on. I get the message to press then engine button, turn the parking break back off and turn the knob to drive.

18 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2024

The coolant keeps disappearing from the resevoir tank and there is a gurgling noise coming from the front driver side. The engine starts rough with the check engine light on.

19 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2024

Check engine light cam on then a message "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" this is related to recall 23v-010.

20 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2024

My 2019 Pacifica hybrid started showing a message around 07/19 “service charing station” followed by service park brakes, service parking system and was not able to start or control anything in the car. After 15 to 30 minutes it started working and no errors. On Friday, 07/26, car stopped all of a sudden (luckily my family was in the parking lot) and showed a different message “stop safely. Vehicle will stop soon” message and after that it went completely dead. This is a concern that the vehicle would stop when driving and making the vehicle not responding to anything. You cannot control (brakes, driving modes, light) anything and when aaa jump started the car was in “running” mode and asking to power on the vehicle.

21 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2024

Vehicle was found to be overheating, with low coolant. Initial concern for possible hose leak, but nothing visualized on inspection. . . Testing demonstrated a blown head gasket and possible warped cylinder. This is a recurring problem for Chrysler Pacifica's that Chrysler refuses to address. There were no warning signs before hand.

22 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2024

6/20/driving on highway. Message comes up "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and a turtle lights up on the dashboard. I pull over and turn van off. I turn it back on and message is still there. I turn it off again and this time quickly open and close the door to completely shut down the electric. Turn it back on and message is gone but check engine light is on. Drive home and then drive more during the evening with check engine light on the entire time. 6/21/start the car in the morning and check engine light is off. Able to travel for about an hour and then, driving on highway, same message comes up and I do the same thing. Check engine light stays on again but message goes away. Drive for about 20 minutes and the message comes up again. Again I pull over and do the same series of things as described. Car allows me to drive but check engine light is on. Do not drive the car for the rest of the weekend. 6/24/start car in the morning. Check engine light is on as I drive it about 5 minutes to my local mechanic. He runs the codes and does the research and tell me that I need a new transmission and it is under warranty. I pick up the van later to take it to dealer and the check engine light is off. Drive to dealer and now the dealer says there is nothing they can do if the light doesn't go back on. They are saying that I have to experience this same problem on a highway with my family in the car for them to fix it even though there is a recall on this transmission.

23 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2024

Clunking from the transmission and this is a common issue with many Pacificas. There is a “reset” online but this temporary solves the issue. At times it’s very dangerous when driving when the transmission clunks when finding another gear.

24 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2023

While driving a message appeared on the dash "service charging system" and vehicle doesn't even accelerate(we stay in des moines and visited my cousin in dallas,TX, this is where this issue happened). Luckily I was on local road I was able to pull off, what would be the situation if it happens on interstate with such high speed travelling vehicles behind me. I was driving with my 2 kids and wife and I feel it's more dangerous to take a trip with this vehicle. Please try to find a solution or issue an recall and doesn't want this situation to happen to anybody.

25 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2023

Vehicle more and more frequently clunks the transmission when accelerating or shortly after excelerating to highway speeds. First started around 60k+ miles. Can tell when it will occur because the engine rpms don't match the throttle input. Rpms rev just as transmission is ready to shift. Slight feeling of being out of control for a moment, especially in the rain. A quick google search shows us that the shift jolt isn't new and is actually exactly what was happening with the Honda odyssey van, which used to share the same transmission. Dealership acknowledged the issue has occured with multiple customers but Chrysler doesn't warrant the concern due to the $8,000+ service expense.

26 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2023

Loss of motive power reoccurrences (2 incidents) after 1803a182 safety recall 03a correction was performed, 9 may 2023, by reprogramming hybrid control processor/aux hybrid control processor on 2019 Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid (mileage: 35,180) experienced a sudden loss of power twice; 16 and 17 September 2023. - 16 September: having just merged into one lane from two and speeding up hill (from approx. 20 mph) to merge onto highway, a sudden loss of power occurred without an adequate shoulder to pull off, resulting in time critical crash avoidance maneuvers by all vehicles behind us. No known crashes occurred within our viewing range. Additional details: unable to shut down vehicle for 2-3 minutes check engine light illuminated dash diagnostic screen: “service charging system” error electric power available: 56% fuel: 3/8th) - 17 September: after running a preliminary diagnostic test with my personal obd tester, I noticed that the check engine light turned off after the connection activated. I did not clear any codes. After printing the list of faults generated from the evening prior, I chose to take it for a short test drive. While waiting at a stop light within a mile from my house, the same issue occurred again, “service charging system” error followed by two additional alternating notification on the dash, “service shifter” error and “service shifter stop safely shut off vehicle to engage park,” with the transmission indicator selector knob lost illumination and became non-responsive. (as seen in attached pictures from previous incidents) luckily, everyone was stopped this time. Within 20-30 seconds, the entire vehicle, including dashboard went completely dead then blipped back on as if nothing had happened, allowing me to make it home safely.

27 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2023

The transmission is very unresponsive and dealerships don’t find anything wrong other than resetting the computer every 2 days. The transmission clunks and jerks the car going into 2nd and or 3rd gear. Many times I press the pedal in highway/city driving and the transmission takes 2. 5 to 3 seconds to respond. This is not the electric model. Online tons of people talk about this it’s a safety hazard to have an unresponsive clunky transmission. Reputable companies are naming this the worst car. Cars. Com wrote an article over this very problem. . Read more...

28 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2023

The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle there were several unknown warning lights illuminated and the contact was unable to shift the vehicle into drive(d) or reverse(r). The contact stated that the "service selector switch" message was displayed. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and normal electrical functions returned. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was unintendedly slowing to nearly a stop while driving approximately 65 mph. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission control module needed to be re-flashed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred. The contact returned the vehicle to the same dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the selector switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, however the contact stated that the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was driven back to the same dealer. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.

29 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2023

Van was idling rough and started to struggle to start in the morning, at times needing to try a few times before it would start up. Once driving the van is still idling roughly and at red lights feels as if it will not be able to drive at all. The check engine light came on so we had the error code read at autozone throwing the p0303 cylinder 1 misfire. We first took it to our local mechanic where he was unable to fully diagnose the issue, he recommended we then take it to the dealership. Our van is currently at the dealership with coolant leaking into the head gasket. We have opened a case with the dealership and are independently pursuing them taking responsibility for the faulty parts. The car did not 'drive hot' at all and not temperature gauge change occurred at all. I cannot safely drive or count on this van to drive my four kids around at this time. This is a design/manufacturing flaw as I have recently found out that it is occurring in Chrysler Pacifica's at a high rate around 60k miles. We are at 63k in a 2019 and are now told we must pay 4,500k to replace the head gasket that the coolant has leaked into. This issue is common with this model and there is no guarantee that this will prevent the same issue with another cylinder or force us to buy a new engine on a 4 year old car.

30 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2023

Ever since we purchased this vehicle it has had problems shifting when accelerating it jerks the whole car, and you hear a loud thud. Once in awhile it feels like the car has no power when trying to accelerate. We have had nothing but issues with the start/stop control system. We have taken it back to the dealership multiple times. They have replaced the alternate battery two times in the past year and now it is doing it again and will need to be replaced. The dealership just says it is the battery, and a software download. The problem has not been corrected yet. Most recently while on a busy state highway the car decided to throw all error codes, and completely shut down.

31 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2023

My local Chrysler dealership suggested (and charged me for) computer updates relating to the sliding doors and transmission of a 2019 Pacifica minivan. Without these updates, the service advisor said the sliding doors may not open/close and that the engine may rev but power may not be delivered to the drivetrain. Doors can be opened manually. I am not all that concerned about that one. But if the engine revs but does not deliver power to the wheels, the results can be catastrophic, especially while pulling out in traffic at highway speeds. These issues require a recall with costs covered by the manufacturer not the consumer. I was charged $165. 00 for this repair.

33 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2023

2019 Chrysler Pacifica limited 4/15/23- uconnect radio failed to do over the air update. Since that failure the electrical system in the car has now caused the car to be non functional and intermittent. All the safety features stopped and warning lights came on stating service transmission so the car was brought to Chrysler dealership. Dealership has replicated the problem and now had the car now for over a month and replaced parts, some at my cost with no fix. The problem still occurs for them as well. I have asked multiple times if the radio could have caused this and each time I am told no.

34 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2023

Please read! this is the 10th occurrence of this issue, and second time posting here as a safety issue. I hope no one else experiences this. The issue still cant be diagnosed, so trying for another time. Last time they had the Pacifica for over 7 weeks! as per previous complaint on Jan 6, 2023 with our 2 year old twin toddlers with us in the vehicle again, the vehicle is still having the same safety issue. I dont feel safe any longer driving my Pacifica. I called the customer care line and was told nothing can be done without a diagnosis. It will be dropped off, but no appt avail for a month. You cant replicate this. No one should have to experience it. * were driving on the freeway at 55 mph. After 30 min on the freeway at 55-60 mph, the Pacifica all of a sudden states car is not in park, (as it did the previous 9 times) the van will not accelerate, because of the warning saying car is not in park, and hazard lights wouldn't activate. The car behind me was honking, almost hit me and the car behind them and so on. The Pacifica continued to just glide on the road in the drive position with the same warning over and over car is not in park. We slowed down enough we pressed the brake and put it in park, still in the lane on the busy freeway! with brake depressed, we tried to get the alert to shut off by having the van in park so we can restart it. But the van wont restart as it still says car is not in park, but yet it really is in park. As an fyi, the auto start stop was shut off at start up. We got the car shut completely off (while still in the lane on the freeway with cars honking away. ) and were finally able to get the van to restart, the alerts to go away and off to the side of the freeway and to the exit. Can you imagine how terrifying this is!!! you cant predict when it will happen! either you choose drive it and take the risk of your safety or pay for rental to ensure you are safe !! when it is a safety problem, it should be taken more seriously!.
