82 problems related to power train have been reported for the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica based on all problems reported for the 2019 Pacifica.
My local Chrysler dealership suggested (and charged me for) computer updates relating to the sliding doors and transmission of a 2019 Pacifica minivan. Without these updates, the service advisor said the sliding doors may not open/close and that the engine may rev but power may not be delivered to the drivetrain. Doors can be opened manually. I am not all that concerned about that one. But if the engine revs but does not deliver power to the wheels, the results can be catastrophic, especially while pulling out in traffic at highway speeds. These issues require a recall with costs covered by the manufacturer not the consumer. I was charged $165. 00 for this repair.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? electronic shifter, no can bus, all safety features. Yes still available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? car becomes inoperable and left stranded. Fear of losing power or crash. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? service shifter message which deactivates shifter, no can bus, all safety controls flash on /off, fuel gauge goes up and down, warning lights flash. First appeared right after radio tried to do a software update. I have pictures and videos of the issue. Leased car 2019 until Feb 2023. Purchased car from lease Feb 2023 and car has been inoperative since April 2023. There are multiple concerns from people experiencing similar issues as well on internet as well as videos on youtube. I have videos and pictures of the issue.
2019 Chrysler Pacifica limited 4/15/23- uconnect radio failed to do over the air update. Since that failure the electrical system in the car has now caused the car to be non functional and intermittent. All the safety features stopped and warning lights came on stating service transmission so the car was brought to Chrysler dealership. Dealership has replicated the problem and now had the car now for over a month and replaced parts, some at my cost with no fix. The problem still occurs for them as well. I have asked multiple times if the radio could have caused this and each time I am told no.
Please read! this is the 10th occurrence of this issue, and second time posting here as a safety issue. I hope no one else experiences this. The issue still cant be diagnosed, so trying for another time. Last time they had the Pacifica for over 7 weeks! as per previous complaint on Jan 6, 2023 with our 2 year old twin toddlers with us in the vehicle again, the vehicle is still having the same safety issue. I dont feel safe any longer driving my Pacifica. I called the customer care line and was told nothing can be done without a diagnosis. It will be dropped off, but no appt avail for a month. You cant replicate this. No one should have to experience it. * were driving on the freeway at 55 mph. After 30 min on the freeway at 55-60 mph, the Pacifica all of a sudden states car is not in park, (as it did the previous 9 times) the van will not accelerate, because of the warning saying car is not in park, and hazard lights wouldn't activate. The car behind me was honking, almost hit me and the car behind them and so on. The Pacifica continued to just glide on the road in the drive position with the same warning over and over car is not in park. We slowed down enough we pressed the brake and put it in park, still in the lane on the busy freeway! with brake depressed, we tried to get the alert to shut off by having the van in park so we can restart it. But the van wont restart as it still says car is not in park, but yet it really is in park. As an fyi, the auto start stop was shut off at start up. We got the car shut completely off (while still in the lane on the freeway with cars honking away. ) and were finally able to get the van to restart, the alerts to go away and off to the side of the freeway and to the exit. Can you imagine how terrifying this is!!! you cant predict when it will happen! either you choose drive it and take the risk of your safety or pay for rental to ensure you are safe !! when it is a safety problem, it should be taken more seriously!.
Light come on dash board to park safely car will shut down. Car stalls all lights on dashboard will come on, alcar shuts down and nothing work not even the hassard light it goes complete dead. After 20 mintutes r more been shut down it will turn on like nothing happen, no lights on dashboard happen 5 times on ah year and cant find the problem at the dealer. Thanks you.
The start/stop system has gone out twice. Once the indicator light came on, the vehicle then will stop working. . Sometimes in the middle of a road or while driving. We’ve taken it to our dealer twice, replaced the batteries (twice). I am truly concerned for my family’s safety as it feels like we can’t control the car when it malfunctions. This issue is ongoing, first repair was made July 2022 at arrigo Chrysler in ft. Pierce, florida. Next same place in August.
Hello we had a complete shut down at 5 pm Friday at an intersection this past weekend. While at the light, the car just 'shut off'. The van did start back up with in 2 minutes. There are no engine, battery, etc. Warning lights currently displayed. This has happened twice with in the past 6 month. Main battery and auxiliary are both new. All connections are torqued to spec. Very dangerous situation.
I was getting my oil changed and the guy told me that my engine was no longer bolted down, that it can move all around. I called Chrysler and they told me that they would charge me to diagnose the problem and that it would not be covered under warranty. I took it to another shop and they said that it was not bolted down, because the bolts that Chrysler used were bad. It is so frustrating that my engine could slide around causing all sorts of issues and Chrysler does not care at all. How is that not covered?.
While driving down the road at approximately 45 mph, the car suddenly shut down with no power. The display said there was a charging error and to put the vehicle in park. I parked the vehicle on the shoulder, turned it off, and restarted. The engine started and I drove off, but 5 minutes later it suddenly shut off once again. I repeated this process 2 times until the final time, the vehicle would not restart, and we were stranded on the shoulder of a busy road in icy conditions. A mechanic ran a diagnostic on the vehicle and there are no error codes, but it will not start and says there is a charging error, even though it is not plugged in. The sudden stops are very dangerous, especially in snowy/icy conditions. We are 600 miles away from home and do not feel safe operating this vehicle on a long road trip on busy highways.
While driving down the road, my vehicle stated that it was not in park out of no where, and I was driving 35 -40 miles per hour. No doors were open, it was me and my twin boys age 2 in car seats. It then decided to stop in the road. The vehicle shut off. I turned on my hazards and had to try to restart my vehicle. Almost getting in an accident. Got it restarted and pulled it over. I was terrified. This was the second time this has happened except the first time was a month prior and I was driving up to a red light, depressed the brake (start stop was deactivated prior by me) and once I stopped the car just shut off and didnt want to restart, car was placed in park. After about a minute I got it to restart, again I pulled over. The radio will turn off and restart every 3 minutes, with nothing connected. It is like this car has all of a sudden become possesed. I have replaced both the battery and aux battery.
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the start/stop sensor light was continually illuminated. While at a red traffic light, the vehicle independently shifted to park(p) and shut off. The vehicle was restarted and placed in drive(d). The vehicle was taken to an unknown local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the start/stop battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was determined that the hood latch and the start/stop battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.
This Pacifica shifted hard from 1st to 2nd gear about a month ago. We were driving 75 mph and then the vehicle lost all power on the interstate. Had to shut the car off and turn it back on before I continue on my way.
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while stopped on an incline, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact restarted the vehicle and the failure recurred while reversing. The contact restarted the vehicle however, the failure persisted after shifting to drive(d). The lights on the gear shifter started to flash with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact restarted the vehicle and drove to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not under recall or covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
The front head gasket failed near cylinder 6 causing a mixing of fluids and a "wash out" in the cylinder. This is not repairable and the whole engine must be replaced. 70,100 miles, 10,000 miles past it's warranty.
Very loud metallic clanking noise while driving 40-50 mph coming from front left wheel. When I inspected it, I saw that the front left wheel bearing hub mounting bolt had backed out of the hub and steering knuckle and onto the cv shaft end, which is what caused the clanking. I have photos of this damage. Vehicle is 3 years old and has 46,000 miles on it. I believe it should be obvious why wheel bearing hub mounting bolts backing out on their own is quite dangerous. This problem has not been confirmed by my local dealer. The manufacturer has not been made aware of this problem. There was no warning sign that this would occur. It happened spontaneously while driving this morning.
When the vehicle is preparing to shift gears it almost stops like it is going to stall, then when it finally does shift gears the entire car jolts. It started off only doing it occasionally but now does this multiple times in a short 15 minute drive.
Car has shut off, on the road, while driving twice now. Car revs up while driving but loses power and slows down. Dashboard blinks "stop safely, car will shut off soon, service electronic stability control, service trans, shut off engine to engage in park, park assist unavailable" engine is already off because it shut down automatically but car itself would not shut off. Had to disconnect the battery to reset it, got it started and only drove 3 miles to a parking lot and it continously lost driving power those 3 miles. Car revs up really high, but will not drive. Huge safety concern and Chrysler is aware but doesnt care. Car has been "fixed" twice now and still has continued to shut down while driving. It's been at the dealership since October 10th.
When I come to a stop(or sometimes not even fully) then accelerate to pull off, the rear end or something hesitates & then rams/jerks to the point I thought I was rear ended. This happens several times per week. Also, sometimes there’s no power when I do try proceed through light/stops. It’s like there’s little to no power for about 10 seconds. The breaks are quite loud but dealer says they are good.
Driving along on Aug 2nd and at about 30 mph all electrical systems turned off, acc, blind spot, automatic braking etc, it went into limp mode and I had to pull over. The dealer installed a few updates and reset the codes. I drove it three more days and then it happened all over again this past Sunday the 7th.
My wife was taking my daughter to work while waiting for the gate to open the van shut off as usual and after the gate was opened the van would not let my wife turned it off or even start it. This took place 3 days after the van was service by the dealership. This situation put my family in great danger if this took place in a major road it could have been catastrophic. Since the purchase of the van while driving between 0-25 mph the transmission jumped intermitently and not allowing us to move fast enough to avoid someone from running into the van. Luckily nothing sewrious has happened yet. Researching from the manufacture and there is no support available for customers. I have driven a tremendous amount of vehicles and for such a young vehicle this is not normal, and I as a customer should have to pay out of pocket to get this issue looked into and understand how to resolve it.
The rear dvd system routinely locks out and you are unable to control the entertainment system at all. Chrysler has no fix for this and it is very annoying. It has been in the shop numerous times with no solution. Also, the transmission will rev high sometimes and then slam into gear and make everyone’s head slam back in the seat. I know there is a class action law suit on both issues. There are multiple youtube videos of both issues with no fix.
While traveling on freeway loss of power and gas pedal not responding. Transmission bucks and shifts hard.
My transmission or other powertrain components have failed several times. While driving my vehicle has a hard time shifting gears. When it does find a gear it jerks hard forward. That happens most days. Last week it completely disengaged in the middle of an intersection and would not find a gear for about 20 seconds I could not accelerate at all. I was scared and almost got hit from incoming traffic. I have repeatedly reported the problem to the dealership I bought it from and our local Chrysler dealership. They have told us that without a malfunction code from our van they don't know what to fix or what the problem is. The technician that drove our van said the transmission slipped while he was driving, but that it only happened once while they had it. I am scared to drive this van with my children.
Power to engine was lost while driving 75 miles per hour down the freeway in the hov express lane. There was no shoulder to pull over onto safely. This is the second time this has occurred. First incident was March 2021. Power to engine cut while driving on freeway 75 mph. Car was towed to bob baker Chrysler. Dealer was unable to recreate the problem or diagnose after 7 days. Issues occurred again on 4/19/2022. Car was towed to bob baker Chrysler.
I read that there is on ongoing investigation related to the 2019-2021 Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid (investigation# pe-22-008). I read the odi resume, and would like to report the exact same issue with my Pacifica. I was traveling at about 40 mph on a four lane highway in February of 2022 when I suddenly lost all motive power. The dashboard reported a charging system error. I was able to get the car to the side of the road (though I was lucky to be able to do so) and it had to be towed to the Chrysler dealership (deery brothers Chrysler, 651 hwy 1 w, iowa city, IA 52246, 319-600-6890). They replaced a part in the charging system and it briefly ran, and then failed (thus the dealer has also reproduced the problem). It has now been at the dealership since then waiting for Chrysler to figure out the problem. Apparently Chrysler has sent an engineer to deery as well, so there may be some confirmation from the manufacturer.
On two separate occasions vehicle went into limp mode (red turtle mode) and then within minutes lost power and completely stopped working. The message "service charging station" appeared after both incidents on the dashboard. We were fortunately traveling at low speeds (less than 25 mph) and were able to pull over before losing power, but under other circumstances on other roads, the outcome could have certainly been worse and we may not have been able to move over to safety. On both occasions we were left stranded and the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership for repair. The vehicular failure we experienced on both occasions appears to be the same that is currently being investigated in the office of defects investigation pe 22-008. The first incident occurred in December of 2021. Eventually the dealership replaced the power inverter module (pim) in February of 2022. Vehicle was road tested and checked for safety and returned to us. In June of 2022 the vehicle broke down again with the exact same chain of events. Vehicle is currently at the dealership for repair and is again awaiting replacement of the pim. It is my understanding that the failed parts have been/will be sent to Chrysler for internal investigation. As far as I am aware, they have not been inspected by any other parties. Other than the car going into limp mode, there were no other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
The following has happened twice. Once with me and once with my wife. The van is in reverse. My foot is on the brake. I am getting ready to reverse the van to get out of a parking space. Suddenly, the van lurches forward when I take my foot off the brake. The lurch is not soft of mild, it is shocking and frightening. In one case, we hit the car parked ahead of us. In both cases, had a person been in front of the car, he or she would have been surely injured.
The van was purchased in November 2019. In November 2020, the vehicle would not start. The tow truck came to our house to give us a jump and informed us the battery was dead. We went to an auto store to buy a battery because the frisco Chrysler dealership closed on sundays. The salesman stated that we should go to national tire and battery. We took the van to ntb and that's when we found out we had two batteries and they rely on each other. Because we already purchased a regular battery they were able to install it; however the van had to be towed to a frisco Chrysler dealership to install an auxiliary battery. Frisco Chrysler installed the auxiliary battery successfully. Unfortunately, six months later we were back at frisco Chrysler because the auxiliary light had come back on. I took the van to the dealership and they replaced the auxiliary battery stating that the battery will only last between six months to 2 years. In June 2021, the auxiliary light came back on and frisco Chrysler changed the auxiliary battery again. I returned the following day because the auxiliary light came back on. The mechanic stated the wire connecting the auxiliary battery had come a loose and stated he fixed it. In October 2021, the auxiliary light came back on. By this time we moved to georgia; therefore we took the van to gwinnett Chrysler. Gwinnett Chrysler stated there was a wiring issue and stated it would cost $1,000 to fix. The struggle is the van isn't three years old, but has multiple problems.
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, the brakes, esc, lane keep assist, air bags, and seat belt warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the "rear parking assist not available" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who tightened the battery terminal; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who replaced the orc module, the transmission control module, the body control module, the abs module, and the wiring front end module; however, the check engine warning light illuminated while the dealer was taking the vehicle back to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced low voltage failure. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer - hendrick Chrysler Jeep fiat (543 n mcpherson church rd, fayetteville, nc 28303) who recharged the battery; however, the failure reoccurred. Additionally, the contact stated that the turn signals failed to work. The vehicle was taken to a third dealer - crown Dodge of fayetteville (436 n mcpherson church rd, fayetteville, nc 28303) who updated an unknown software; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed with the adaptive cruise control activated, the vehicle decelerated significantly and abruptly. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact's husband depressed the accelerator pedal however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact's husband then depressed the brake pedal and veered to the side of the road, where the vehicle stalled and failed to restart. The contact stated that the vehicle restarted after several attempts: however, the vehicle continuously stalled while driving back to residence. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 31,800.
My vehicle at 28,k plus miles I noticed it seemed to slip. This would happen intermittently. I thought I was imagining it at first. Then it started to do a more violent jerking. The dealership did a reset. It started doing it a week later, and intermittently. I was also in the dealership because I was hearing a clunking noise in the rear when driving over uneven pavement, or backing out of my driveway. I have been waiting two months for rear struts to fix the issue. Vehicle sounds getting progressively worse and I'm concerned about driving. Today the rear struts wear promised to arrive. I was just told they will arrive sept 10, 2021. Three days ago, an alert symbol popped onto my dash screen -a yellow circle with an a inside followed by an exclamation mark. I am bringing my vehicle in on August 30, 2021. The dealer said I need to have the battery charged!? they are also going to reset the transmission slipping program, again. Are other 2019 vehicles having the same issues?.
The van started with very jerky shifting around 70,000 miles. The car would, at times, lurch hard forward when shifting. Eventually, a Chrysler dealer looked at the transmission and determined it needed replaced. The replacement transmission started with the same problems after about 20,000 miles. Van currently has only 115,000 miles.
While driving 70mph on the freeway the power to the engine failed. The dash showed a power error, telling me to plug the vehicle in. After coasting to the shoulder, the power to the car would not turn off, nor would the engine turn back on. I sat on the shoulder of the I-15 freeway in rancho bernardo, CA for 45 minutes until a tow truck could come and tow the car to the dealership where it was purchased, bob baker Chrysler in carlsbad, CA. The service technician, juan gonzalez, kept the car for about a week trying to replicate the problem, detect the issue, or learn anything about it. He could not determine the cause or the solution. However the car would start again and appeared to drive normally again. After 7 days the car was returned to me with out any repairs or any explanations or any assurance that this would not happen again. My family was placed in serious danger by being forced to sit in the car on the small shoulder a major interstate freeway without any power to the engine.
Low speed while slowing accelerating van will shift so hard that the traction control goes off. Very hard shifting. Intermittent. This has been reported numerous times since 9 speed trans were installed.
While driving car on city street started to hesitate with power, so pulled off road and put in park. Then was unable to take car out of park or shift in any way. Blue light just flashed. Wasn't able to shut the car off and the car had to be towed to the dealer while still running. Message said 'transmission". This happened twice with the first occurence being just shortly after purchase. Vehicle has been at dealer for 44 days and is still not fixed.
This involves a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid. While traveling at 80 mph with dynamic cruise control engaged, the vehicle suddenly lost all propulsion. The internal combustion engine was off, and no power came from the electric motor. The air conditioning also turned off. Despite pressing the accelerator, there was no power at all. The vehicle was only coasting, and lost speed rapidly. Despite losing propulsion, I never felt like I lost brakes or steering. Despite this, I felt very unsafe as I was traveling at highway speed in the middle of an interstate when this occurred. The display alternated between two messages. One stated I needed to shift to p and press the start button (the vehicle was still in motion). The second message stated there was a fault in the hybrid charging system. Once stopped on the shoulder, I shifted to park and pressed the start button while pressing the brake pedal (the normal process to start the vehicle). The dashboard, infotainment system, and window control appeared to power-cycle, but neither the vehicle nor the air conditioning would start. The dashboard continued to display a message saying a charging system failure had occurred. After 45 minutes of repeatedly trying to start the car by pressing the brake and pushing the start button. I tried just pressing the start button without pressing the brake. The car shut all the way off, and after waiting a moment, I was able to start the car by pressing the brake and then pushing the start button. Once started, the vehicle then ran normally except for a check engine light. Five days prior to this incident, a Chrysler dealer performed the repair for recall NHTSA 19v-886, and the initial inspection for recall NHTSA 20v-334.
