Traveling on an interstate at 75 mph (posted speed limit) and a warning popped up telling us to pull over bc the engine will shut off. We lost acceleration and could not continue with the flow of traffic. Had to cross through multiple lanes of traffic without the ability to accelerate. This has happened several times in this vehicle. I feel unsafe driving.
The car randomly gives a warning on the dashboard in red, with red turtle symbol, to pull over and stop safely. A lot of the time we will be on the highway and can't pull over safely. It happens at any speed. 25, 80, 65, etc. It's been happening since we got the vehicle in 2023 and no dealership understands what the issue is even though there are clearly recall repairs for other same make and model of other years surrounding this 2022 model. They keep saying its keysense but its not locked for speed and that doesnt make sense because it doesnt happen at a high speed only, it happens randomly even in town going slow. They've done the "software update" a fee times, but it's clearly the same problem as the others with the wiring harness. That part needs to be replaced because the patch software fix isn't a solution and its definitely not a safe solution at that.
The vehicle was running fine when it suddenly shut down while driving. It was started back up 3 times before it would not start again. It was towed. We were told the two batteries needed to be replaced so we had it towed to midas because they had recently changed the auxiliary battery so it was under warranty. They replaced they replaced thr batteries but when they went to started up, thr engine started knocking and wouldn't start up again. Tr engine needs to be replaced.
While driving 75mph, the vehicle shut down with a message to pull over. All acceleration was lost. We had to navigate, without warning, across 3 lanes of traffic to pull over on the right side of the highway. This was extremely unsafe as we were slowing down and essentially cutting off other vehicles who were honking at us as this was a traffic hazard. All 6 members of my family were in the vehicle. We had this happen another 3 times before arriving home. I took it to my local dealer, who could not replicate it. They performed a software update, which I have since learned would never fix this problem. We had it happen to us 5 more times, so I took it to another dealership, who initially could not replicate it. In all cases, we had the following check engine light codes be triggered. I have screen shots of them from my personal obdii reader: p0a43 "drive motor 'a' position sensor circuit intermittent", c2225 "status: mil - pcm disabled edu: no sub type information". After doing my own reading, it seemed many others have experienced the exact same symptoms and it has required a transmission repair/replace. I also learned most people had a battery charge on the high voltage battery (as this is a plug-in hybrid) when the vehicle shuts down. I charged my van, took it for a ride at 75mph and it occurred within the first mile. I took it back to the dealership, and at this point, I refuse to drive it until the hardware fix happens. It seems like this should be a recall for all vehicles that can have this problem. It is extremely unsafe as it occurs at 70mph+ speeds.
The vehicle’s electrical or engine system appears to have failed, causing a sudden loss of power while driving. The exact component has not been identified by the dealership or Chrysler, but it may be related to the recall affecting the vehicle’s powertrain control or electrical system. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and available for inspection upon request. The issue has created a serious safety risk. The vehicle has repeatedly lost power and shut off while driving on the highway, including one incident where I was unable to fully pull off the road before it stalled in active traffic. My children were in the vehicle at the time, placing us in immediate danger of being struck by oncoming vehicles. Because the vehicle can stop without warning, it is unsafe to drive and puts both my family and others on the road at risk. The dealership has confirmed the issue and advised that parts are on backorder for at least 10 weeks. They also stated that even once the parts arrive, they are uncertain how to complete the repair, indicating that Chrysler has not yet provided an effective fix. The vehicle has been inspected by the authorized Chrysler dealership multiple times, and the issue has been reported to Chrysler. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. A warning message reading “pull over as the vehicle will stop” appears on the dashboard prior to each failure event. The first occurrence was on June 10, 2025, while driving on the highway to my daughter’s graduation. Since then, the same warning has appeared multiple times before the vehicle shuts off completely. It has been 6 weeks at this point and I have no vehicle. Chrysler has offered rental reimbursement of $60 a day but there is no vehicle that is a 7 passenger like my van that is of this cost. At this time they do not have a timeframe of when the vehicle will be fixed and denied a buyback or replacement.
Number of days your vehicle is down: indefinitely as of now there is no fix according to the dealership parts are at least 10 weeks out with them not knowing how to do the install once parts arrive number of repair attempts: there is no fix as of now but the vehicle has broken down 4 times parts for the transmission are on back order (at least ten weeks) and they do not know how to install the parts once they arrive first repair attempt date and problem: June 10, 2025 the van showed a message saying pull over as the vehicle will stop while we were on the highway heading to my daughters graduation. Initially. We were able to pull over that time and stop driving before the car turned off. We took the vehicle in and they inspected it for the recall. Most recently, the vehicle did it again on the highway. I was not being able to pull all the way over prior to the vehicle, losing power and stopping in the middle of the highway with my children inside. Voice of the customer / complaint: as of now there is no timetable for us to be able to return driving the vehicle which is extremely unsafe. We purposely got a seven passenger van to transport our entire family, and at this point we have no way to do. So. The dealership says they are unable to give us a loaner for that, and we are getting no assistance with this with no timetable. As far as when the vehicle will be fixed. Therefore, I’m requesting a buyback of the vehicle so that we can get something to transport our family as the vehicle is down. I am still having to pay for the car note without having anything to show for it. I cannot drive it as I don’t know when it will shut off. It is currently sitting at the dealer.
When driving on local road or freeways, car stops in middle of running state with check engine light on and with a message displayed on cluster as ‘ stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon’.
My 2022 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid periodically has a sudden shutdown warning identical to vehicles in recall 23v-010 (157), where the engine simply shuts down and a message shows to park safely (it happened to me a bunch of times on a highway and I was lucky enough to have room on the road shoulder. My VIN isn’t listed in the recall 157 that seems to take care of this issue, but the symptoms match exactly. I need this investigated for safety and repaired under warranty or recall.
The car shut down and a turtle appeared on the screen on the middle of the highway.
My wife was driving our 2022 chrylser Pacifica when it died in the middle of an intersection in downtown austin. She was in the turning lane waiting for the light to change when the auto stop/start feature activated. As the light turned green and she went to proceed, the car started up and then cut back off while simultaneously placing itself in park and all of the lights on the dash began blinking and messages stating "service shifter", "service parking brake", "service brakes" etc started popping up on the dash. She tried to restart the car and nothing happened and the emergency flashers would only work intermittently before shutting off and randomly coming back on for a few seconds minutes later. Eventually a police officer pulled up behind her to block traffic while she and they tried to get the car started. When I arrived, I was able to jump the car and get it out of the road and to a nearby parts store to check the batteries. Oreillys and advanced auto confirmed that the alternator, batteries and starter were good based on their diagnostic scanners. She was able to drive it to san antonio and back the next day with no issues, but that night, when we went to dinner and stopped for gas, it did it again while in the fuel line although I was able to restart the car this time but now displays "stop/start unavailable, service stop/start". After the second event, went back to oreillys and had it scanned, there were no primary diagnostic trouble codes, but 8 stored additional abs trouble codes relating to low voltage, and electronic failures across multiple systems. This all came after having the oil changed and a safety inspection performed on 23 July in which everything passed, but they recommended a coolant and brake fluid flush. Concerned about this happening in congestion on a highway or somewhere with limited options for recovery.
Unexpected engine shut down electrical system, short circuit and the internal transmission failure loss of motor power while driving, losing control of all drive power breaking on its own increasing the risk of crash. Electrical system went haywire.
The contact owns a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who transferred the vehicle to an unknown local Chrysler dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
While I was driving this vehicle on the highway, the vehicle shut off and the engine light came on.
While traveling at highway speeds, vehicle enters into "limp" mode with an in-dash warning "stop safely. Vehicle will shut off soon" warning and a red turtle warning symbol above the drive indicator. The vehicle immediately stops sending power to the wheels and it must be safely pulled over to the side. This was brought into the dealership for service and the car was returned as "repaired. " but this has not been fixed. After the initial occurrence, this has re-occurred multiple times, most recently on 06/19/2025 and 06/21/2025.
A message appeared on the dashboard stating the engine would shut off soon. I could not accelerate. This has happened multiple times (at least a dozen since I bought the vehicle in April 2025) and I cannot drive above 70 mph or it will cause the issue to occur. Several times I have been in multi-lane traffic and because you cannot accelerate, I have to try to park on the should across multiple lanes of traffic at high rates of speed while slowing down.
In 2024, our vehicle displayed a critical warning stating: “stop safely. Vehicle will shut off soon. ” while driving on the highway, the vehicle began losing engine power—a terrifying and dangerous experience. We immediately took it to the dealership, where they diagnosed a transmission failure and proceeded to replace the transmission. Unfortunately, we are now experiencing the same issue again this year. The vehicle continues to lose power and shut off while in motion on the highway, creating an extremely hazardous situation that nearly resulted in a serious accident. This ongoing malfunction poses a significant risk to the safety of drivers and passengers. Chrysler must take immediate responsibility by recalling these vehicles and replacing them with safer alternatives to prevent further danger to human life.
I bought a 2022 Pacifica hybrid in October 2022. About 2 months ago(Feb 2025), while I was driving on the 360 highways, my car suddenly showed "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and a turtle symbol. At this time, I was driving 70 mph and the car started to slowly stop. Then, I tried to drive into a nearby starbucks to check it out. I turned off the car. Everything was ok such as oil, coolant, a/c, windshield. Then I restarted the car and the "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and the turtle symbol were gone. I thought it was okay, so I continued driving. 5 days ago (April 11-13, 2025), I had a trip to san antonio. When I was driving close to austin. My car showed "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and the turtle symbol again. At this time, I stopped on I-35. I feel very dangerous for me, my wife and my 2 children. I feel very scared and confused when I am driving on I-35 and the car stops like that. I feel like our lives are in danger while driving. Then "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and the turtle symbol appear more frequently. My car has appeared "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and the turtle symbol 6 times in 3 days. Yesterday was April 14, 2025. When I parked in my driveway, "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and the turtle symbol also appeared. Every day, I must take my 2 children to school in my 2022 Pacifica hybrid. Now, I feel very scared when driving. I do not know when "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and the turtle symbol will appear again and will cause an accident for my family. We sincerely hope that you will consider and request Chrysler to help us check and fix this as soon as possible. Thank you very much.
Within a 48 hour period, the vehicle twice displayed "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and immediately lost engine power at highway speeds when driving with my two young children in the car. Narrowly escaped major accidents while trying to pull over to side of road. Car is at dealer now and they suspect transmission problem.
Driving on the freeway going roughly 70 mph, on electrical power, and several instances (8/19/24, 10/5/24, 11/28/24, 12/21/24, 12/22/24) the dashboard displayed 'stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon' with a red turtle icon, also known as limp mode. In all instances we were able to safely maneuver over to the shoulder, turn off the engine for 1-2 minutes, and turn the vehicle back on. In most instances, the check engine light remained for a period of time (sometimes just a few hours, others a day). I have taken the vehicle in to 2 separate Chrysler dealerships. The first at cdjr of los angeles, who sent a star team and was unable to diagnose/replicate the issue, so they claim the issue had been solved. The second at cdjr of lax where they replaced the power inverter module (and also tightened a loose nut, which was another safety concern). Since both of those visits, the issue has persisted, including the loose nut which made a clunk sound every time when accelerating. This is a serious safety concern. I have spoken with stelantis, and they refuse to take responsibility to resolve the issue. They only provide the robotic response that 'since the dealer cannot replicate the issue, they cannot do anything. ' complete bs. The dealer has acknowledge error code p0843 in my vehicle, but currently it is not 'active', whatever that means. This is a serious problem that needs to be fixed! this is a good vehicle when it works. I love the phev that after 2 years, I only have 16k miles, and most of my miles, as my daily driver, are on electric power. But the issue with this error are severe. Chrysler was aware that there were cars stopping without prior notification, so their solution was updating the software so the system would have these notifications to alert the driver. What baloney! that does fix the issue!.
As I was driving on the highway, the warning "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" with a red turtle icon appeared. The warning indicator light also appeared. The car began to decelerate on its own as I tried to merge across several lanes of highway traffic to get to the shoulder and stop. This first happened on Thursday December 12 (also in a highway scenario). The vehicle was inspected by my dealer from December 16-18. During that time the dealer updated software and replaced drivers side phev engine mount. The dealer cites "bulletin 21-042-24" as guidance for their troubleshooting. The dealer says if the problem returns, the vehicle will "need transmission according to bulletin 21-042-24. " I drove the vehicle fine on December 19-20 but the problem returned on Saturday, December 21. So the problem has occurred twice in 9 days.
Driving on highway and car shut off with a "stop safely soon / vehicle turning off" warning message, a red turtle warning, and the malfunction indicator light on. Pulled off on shoulder. Turned car off. Turned car back on. Malfunction indicator light remained on but red turtle was gone. I was able to get to my destination. Malfunction indicator light remained on for next few driving cycles, but then went off after fourth drive. My safety was definitely put at risk as I was driving on the highway at 60-70mph when the car just shut down and slowly decelerated on its own. Because the mil ultimately went off after my fourth drive, I thought I was in the clear--as the Chrysler manual says this light can come on if you've had a recent servicing because the on-board diagnostics may just be recalibrating. I had my car serviced 9 days previous to the incident. The manual says if the light doesn't go off on its own, then bring it in. It went off on its own, so I thought I was in the clear. However I see in online forums this has happened to others multiple times and I'm worried it will happen to me again. I am calling my dealer tomorrow. Thank you for taking this report!.
While driving on a busy freeway, a warning light appeared: "stop safely vehicle will soon shut down" loss of power in such a situation is dangerous. This happened on three separate occasions during the same trip yesterday. It happened once about a month ago and when we brought it to the dealer, they said it was some sort of computer glitch. On each occasion, after pulling off the road and shutting the car off, we were able to restart and drive normally -- until it happened again. We are taking it to the dealer today. Needless to say, we will not drive the vehicle until this is fixed, because we could be placed in an even more dangerous situation.
While driving on the interstate in heavy traffic car displayed "stop safely - vehicle will shut off soon" power was reduced and van started slowing down. Turning the vehicle off and on again cleared the problem. Dealer installed a software update and informed us the issue was corrected. Problem persists, happened again at interstate speeds in traffic. Vehicle is now again in the shop for diagnosis.
I was renting this vehicle. On my way home on the highway, going about 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly illuminated the check engine light. Soon after, an message appeared on the dash warning me that I needed to stop and that the vehicle would shut off soon. I immediately pulled over and turned at the next county road. However, I did not realize until this point that my engine power was now being limited to almost nothing. As I crossed a railroad crossing and realized I didn't have engine power, I just hoped that I'd be able to cross and not end up dead on the tracks. Thankfully there was still enough engine power being made available to me to cross the tracks safely and park further down the road. I then turned off the vehicle, called the rental emergency hotline, and was actually able to start the vehicle again at that point without the error. However, the check engine light was still illuminated. I drove the rest of the way home with the check engine light on, but had no other encounter of the message warning me that the vehicle would shut off soon.
I have driven around 19809 miles so far in last two plus years of owning this vehicle. Yesterday night (11/10/2024) while driving on a highway at a speed of 65-70 range, there was a sudden flash saying "stop safely vehicle will shutoff soon" the gas pedal was not working at all. Luckily without any majow accident, I could move towards the emergency lane and then turned off the engine. Then after some time when started, the engine malfunction symbol remained but the flash warning wasn't there, so I could drive.
I was driving on the interstate with adaptive cruise control active. The gasoline engine was running. The vehicle suddenly made a "ding" sound, and the main driver screen displayed an error message "stop safely. The vehicle will shut off soon". The engine shut down and vehicle completely lost motive power. I had to rapidly change across three lanes of traffic to reach the shoulder while losing speed, where I eventually parked with the hazard lights on. As we sat parked on the shoulder, the driver screen screen also showed a red battery-shaped indicator in the upper left, and an orange speedometer with an exclamation point in the upper right.
Oil filter gets stripped on oil cooler housing and cracks and leaks damaging engine.
While driving, vehicle chimes and displays "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon. " while brakes and steering remain available, throttle control is instantly gone and vehicle needs to be coasted to a safe stop. Upon powering off and waiting ~10 minutes, the vehicle will restart (with check engine light and "service charing system" displayed) and drive normally. This situation happened four times while attempting to make it back home safely (once on an interstate traveling ~70 mph, twice on a highway traveling ~55 mph, and once in town at ~30 mph). Thankfully all situations had adequate shoulder and understanding traffic, but with instant loss of power, the vehicle is incredibly dangerous.
Outside temperature was over 80 degrees, we were driving long distance on a highway. First the air conditioning failed. Then the "remaining miles on battery" started to go up ( even though it had been a long time since we charged). When it got to about 12, we got a dashboard message that said "engine shutting down, get to a safe place". We pulled over just in time as the engine did shut off, the shutdown happened in about 15 seconds. The car did not restart for at least 30 minutes. Message said something about "check charging system". This happened repeatedly, leaving us in dangerous conditions on the side of the very busy highway. "check engine" light was on. At least once we had a message that said something about "check powertrain". One dealer checked the code on his computer, but could not help any further as they were too busy. He would not give us the paper with the code. We took the car to a dealer when we got home. The "check engine" light had turned off, but the dealer cannot find any problems with the car. It is a huge safety problem when your car shuts down with very little notice. We are afraid to drive the car now.
While driving on major highway, a/c stopped blowing cold air. Out side temperature above 80 degrees. Engine light came on, and later quick warning to this effect" caution, car will shut off soon" and less than 15 seconds or so engine turned off and we luckily coasted across lanes to the breakdown lane. That could have been disastrous! car would not restart. After about an hour we were able to restart the car and driver again for maybe 30 minutes before ac shut off again. This time we made it to an unscheduled hotel. Next morning car was fine, ran fine to our destination. 4 days later driving home. Temp above 80. Driving for more than 3 hours. . Same sequence; ac shuts off, caution warning, engine shutdown.
Vehicle shut down. Engine light came on. Confirmed electric inverter was the code. Pim module needs to be replaced.
While driving the car on two separate occasions a warning flashed "pull over, car will shut down" appeared. Car immediately began to decelerate and shut off. After turning car off was eventually able to get it restarted.
It was a rental car, driving on freeway , warning light will come up , saying engine will shut off. The van had no power, and I had to pull over. I turned off the car for 2-5 minutes and restart. Then the car will accelerate again. I had to drive from la to las vegas. It started doing that after loma linda , CA [xxx] , on [xxx]). It took me 7 hours to get to las vegas. Because of the constant shut off warning. I had no choice but to do this because sixt rental car couldn't get another car to me for 5-6 hours wait. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
While driving the vehicle, received a message to stop safely vehicle will shut off soon. The car stops responding to the gas pedal and I had to try to quickly find a safe place to park the vehicle. I am lucky that I was not on a major highway at the time as I had three young children in the vehicle. Once stopped I was unable to turn off the van. The vehicle start/stop button was not responding and it took a long time before I was able to turn off the vehicle to try to restart it. The message remained and the car had to be towed to a dealership. It is now with the dealership while they determine the cause of the shut down. This is a serious issue to occur on a relatively new vehicle.
While driving on the interstate, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration without warning. With several 18 wheelers having to brake and swerve behind us, we had to navigate onto the shoulder of the interstate. We had to wait on the side of the interstate for an hour for a tow truck to take us to the nearest dealership. We took the car into the dealership and they kept it for several days and then reported that the car just needed a new battery (12v, not hybrid). I expressed concern with the dealership and later after contacting Chrysler that a dead battery shouldn't cause the car to suddenly lose acceleration while driving, because that is an obvious safety risk, but was told again it was just a dead battery. I also received no invoice from the dealership and was told that it would be emailed to me as soon as they could since a cyberattack had made them unable to issue invoices.
