Shortly into my trip home from work, I entered onto the interstate and accelerated up to speed. Within a minute the vehicle seemed to slow down and I had no power using the accelerator pedal. The vehicle continued to slow and the gas engine failed to turn on. (this is a phev hybrid model). Eventually the vehicle lost all power and I was able to park it along the side of the interstate. The vehicle was still on, ac and electoral systems worked. After about 5 minutes, gas engine spontaneously started back up. I was able to gain speed start bad down the road. Approximately 3 min later, gas engine shuts down and same process occurred. This cycle took place about 6 times before vehicle would not start up anymore and ultimately had to be towed. After a week, dealership is not sure what’s wrong as the transmission has been replaced which did not fix the problem. Dealership is now planning to replace the pim module although there is an over 45day wait and they are unsure if that will fix the problem.
We were on the interstate. Driving the 80 mph speed limit. Got warning that said stop safety vehicle will shut off soon. I had 4 kids in the vehicle with me. I barely got it onto the shoulder before it completely shut off and would not move. Had to get it towed to nearest dealership 60 miles away. No answers left and now we are stranded. We could have been killed. No warning signs.
I was driving on highway, speed was about 70mph. All the sudden the dashboard said “ stop safely vehicle will shut off soon”. Then the car start reducing the speed immediately no matter how hard I tried to accelerate. I stopped in the emergency lane. Shutdown the car. Then restart, I could drive about 30s to 60s, then the error came again. It occurred 6 times in total while I drove out the highway to a safety place in 2 miles.
We just purchased the used 2022 Pacifica today. , it was 75 miles back home. I left to get dairy queen; I turned left onto side road into norton commons and an alert came up stop safely your car will slow down soon. Very scary with a family and newb and kids and wife. Especially because cost bought it. Perhaps I should return it!.
Last week on the freeway I suffered the issue described in 23v-010 while traveling at around ~75mph. This was after the fix applied by the recall. My car suddenly began to slow and I was forced to navigate to the side of the road, and stop on the freeway with cars whizzing by, until I could turn off the vehicle and turn it back on. I am hoping to take the car into the dealer within the next few weeks once they confirm that a loaner vehicle is available. Otherwise, I am concerned about the car randomly losing significant propulsion during critical driving events (e. G. Getting onto the freeway, changing lanes, etc) or in an area where I cannot pull over safely. Ironically, during my last service appointment I was provided the same vehicle as a loaner. The loaner vehicle from the dealer shut down on me 15 minutes after receiving it with the same issue. So, I suspect the issue is widespread.
The car has a red triangle come up and the car just turns off it has happen 3 times and has been in the shop 2 times and and at this time it going on the 3 month.
Driving on a city street, shortly after driving out of a parking lot, and suddenly the message 'stop safely - vehicle will shut off soon' showed on the dash, including a check engine light and a red turtle icon. After pulling over on a busy city street and waiting 10 minutes, I was able to start back up and keep driving. The cel light stayed on but not the 'stop safely' message.

On three separate days (2/27, 3/18, 3/29), the vehicle has shown a message saying “stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon”. The ability to accelerate is cut off. This has happened twice while on the highway, requiring a move across lanes to pull over safely due to loss of acceleration. After turning the car off, the car is able to turn back. The check engine light remains on for the next trip, but turns off on its own by the next day. This is a vehicle which was recently serviced for the following recalls: 1. Nhtsa 23v-010 (unexpected engine shut down) completed on 1/16 2. Fca campaign 47a (squealing serpentine belt) completed on 2/11.
My wife was driving our 2022 Pacifica hybrid touring l to work on 101 freeway when a message came up on the console "stop safely. Vehicle will shut off soon" within minutes and while she was in the middle lane of the freeway and the speed shutdown to 19mph causing cars behind to almost collide with our van. Drivers showed road rage towards her. She was able to coast to the freeway exit. We got the van towed to a dealer where it is now. I have read many reports of this same thing happening to may others. Something needs to be done about this.
We got this message on the dashboard that the vehicle will shut off please pull over safely in the middle of freeway. I couldn't do that and was stuck in highway shoulder with kids and family in the car for couple of hours. This was scary.
Vehicle lost power & shut itself off while driving on highway at around 70 mph.
I ran into a very dangerous situation last Monday. I was driving on a freeway and car brokedown, accelarator unresponsive , got "service charging system" car lost power it was very dangerous and someohow I was able to get into shoulder lane and with god's grace we survived. After 3 4 minutes I was able to get my car turn off and on and then it drove with minimal speed 12m/hr. So I decided to take it in nearby open parking area and get it towed. This is serious life threatening especially with family.
While driving on the expressway at expressway speeds we got a message on the information system stating the engine will shutdown soon, pullover safely as soon as possible (paraphrased). The van started to lose power almost immediately upon receiving the message. We were lucky to pull over on a multi lane expressway since we were already in the right lane. It appears the gas engine did not engage when the battery was almost out of power (1%). On the side of the road, it took two times to turn the van on and off before the gas engine started. We were able to make it home. The next business day we contacted the dealership and had it towed there for service. After evaluation I was told the entire transmission needed to be replaced since a generator for the electric motor is housed there and is apparently the cause of the problem. At this time my vehicle is still with dealership awaiting parts. I did research online and see the message we got was the focus of a recall (to display the message) but the cause of the mechanical\electrical failure was still unknown from Chrysler/stellantis. This is unacceptable. We could have easily been in a crash due to the issue. If they can't fix the actual problem, the message needs to display much sooner while the battery still has sufficient power such as 10%. I believe we had 1% indicated on the driver display at the time of the message.
While on interstate in busy atlanta traffic received loss of power warning. Engine is about to stop pulled over to side of road, but shoulder was very narrow and feared for our lives as car was very close to traffic lane. Called Chrysler roadside assistance. Long delay. After a couple of attempts to restart, I was able to get off the road into a shop. Mechanic reported code p0a43. Drive motor sensor. Taking to dealer tomorrow. After half a mile car would not move, and this could have resulted in a fatal accident if I couldn’t get to the shoulder. Previously reported to dealer knocking in transmission when accelerating and decelerating. Dealer said that was normal. However, my previous 2022 Pacifica hybrid did not do that.
While driving on a highway (never at slower speeds), a message will display on the dash that says "stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon. " the car then begins to decelerate and I have less than a minute to pull off the road. This issue began in December 2023. The car has been with the dealership from Feb 16 to present (April 4). The dealership was able to reproduce the problem. I am told it's related to the transmission, and am still waiting on a status update.
Driving from louisiana to kansas for the holidays in our 2022 Pacifica hybrid, and received notice popped up that car was about to shut down and pull off road quickly. This appears to be associated with a recall we did take the car in for but apparently the recall only changed software to tell you the car was about to shut down and didn't fix the issue with the car actually shutting down! this happened to us 4 times. 3 times we had time and space to pull over, wait, and restart. 4th time was immediate note and shutdown but fortunately we were at a stop light and cars could go around us until we were able to restart. We could have been seriously injured or killed had this happened on a busy interstate. This was a Saturday so no service open and I couldn't risk putting my family back in that car so Monday when dealership was open I drove to dealership. Renting a car was to be very expensive $3500 or so to drive back up around end of year. No dealers within 60 miles could even look at the car for several days, and repair was going to be 1-3 months from what dealer and on-line info about it looked to be. My best option was to trade it off when I got it to the dealership but a very costly option! this issue needs to be fixed or people are going to be seriously injured or killed. The warning doesn't give but a few seconds to get off the road and that won't work on an interstate going through a major city! I don't know if the car is fixed as the dealer has it now and we have a new pacific at much cost to us.
This letter is for a near fatality while driving my new 2022 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid on October 30th, 2023. While driving back home on a dark and stormy night with poor visibility on i87 north my 2022 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid shutdown nearly causing a fatal accident. My 3 kids (ages 4, 5, and 8) were in the car with me. The car blinked power and I lost motor function (no acceleration), the car went from around 70-75 miles per hour to almost 40 forcing me to try and get over to the shoulder. During this stressful process a mac truck nearly ran us off the road dramatizing me and my kids. While on the shoulder I tried everything to get the car back on, after turning off and on the car several times I was able to drive very slowly (max speeds of 1-20 miles per hour) with me pressing the gas pedal at full throttle. I was able to get off the new palz exit which was 4 miles from the incident and call triple a for a tow truck back to dutches Dodge. Since the incident, I've been working with fca and looking for guidance on what can be done for my family. The process has been very difficult with dutches Dodge refusing to talk to us. Chrysler failed me with an unsafe car, I feel punished for being a responsible and safe driver. I brought in the car for recall 03a/NHTSA 23v-010 in July which did a software update for an internal transmission wiring connector. Based on the fca case 87814953, I was told the star investigation found fault 21-008-23 which is for the internal transmission wiring connector. The software update does not seem to fix the issue, how many others are at risk? the car was proposed new on 12/13/2023 and had less than 12000 miles on it, all we know is the car needs an entire new transmission and new recall which we were not aware of for a serpentine belt. How can Chrysler assure us that the issue is fixed? since the incident I have been dealing with post traumatic stress. Apart from having to take time off work and losing motivation I've felt that fca does.
There has been several incidents where we experienced sudden engine loss and the vehicle and computer powered off while operating the vehicle. We reported these safety concerns to autonation carlsbad and they were unable to recreate this problem. We have escalated these concerns to the Chrysler’s retention team. Their retention team recommends that we scheduled a follow up service appointment with a second service department.
After recall, vehicle continues to suffer from engine shutdown due to electrical fault in transmission wiring harness.
I was driving on the highway on cruise control at 75 mph. Since the car is a hybrid plug-in it first uses the electric battery which contains 30 miles of usage. Once that drains out, then the engine takes control. About 8 miles after the electric battery drained out the van showed a message saying “please pull over safely car will turn off soon”. Within seconds I was not able to push on the gas pedal to go faster to get off the highway. I ended up being stuck between the main highway and a merging lane. The worst part was I was alone with my two babies under two years old stuck on the highway, not on the shoulder. We are also in arizona and it is very dangerous to not have ac in a car for babies. My air conditioning ended up not working after a couple minutes while I’m stuck on the highway. The car is still running but the steering wheel is locked and I am unable to push on the gas to move. I ended up getting a tow truck from aaa after 45 mins. My van has been at the Chrysler dealership for a week and they will not do anything about this situation. They say nothing is wrong. There is a current lawsuit in the state of michigan with multiple Chrysler Pacifica van owners across the us in regards to the transmissions failing, and Chrysler is not doing anything about it. This is so dangerous for everyone, especially families with young children. This problem needs to be fixed immediately and to be taking seriously to protect all those on the road.
We were driving on the highway when we got a warning to pull over safely as the vehicle will shut down soon. The accelerator became unresponsive, and the vehicle began losing power. This has happened a number of times and we took it into the dealer who replaced the transmission. However, on various social media sites, it has been reported that this has been happening to many many people. This is an extremely dangerous situation for so many people unaware of the potential. As I understand it, they replace the transmission with a like transmission. The problem is not actually being solved. They are simply offering a short term fix with the potential for it to happen again. It is reported by others that their second transmission has done the same thing. Below is one example of a social media post where others have claimed the same issue. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
While driving, vehicle shut down with a small warning on dashboard, leaving occupants stranded in roadway with no way to move vehicle. It took about an hour before it allowed us to drive it. Onboard diagnostics reported misfire.
Loss of power while driving at high speed, almost caused crash. The dealership technician inspected and updated pim software and claimed that it won't happen again. However, the van shut down again while driving on a highway on the 2nd day after the "pim software update". The car is currently with dealership with no information shared regarding what is causing engine shut down.
My 2022 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid pinnacle with 9k miles has started shutting down while driving making it very scary and unsafe. A message will pop up on the dash "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" then the vehicle powers off. It will happen at different times: with cruise control on while on an interstate, on a highway or driving in town at speeds under 35mph. After researching online apparently this has been an issue with the hybrid Pacifica for several years. Chrysler has not been any help to our local Chrysler dealer for a fix. From a scared mom afraid to drive with her children, please advise. Alicia colp 80 players dr benton, ky 42025.
Vehicle lost all motive power. Accessories[wdws, hzrdflashers] still operational. Stopped dead in the middle of the road. Managed to restart vehicle. "limped" along to a safer location, in pkg lot.
Driving down the highway. My vehicle notified me that it would shut down soon and to stop safely very unsafe. I felt I was lose control of the vehicle.
Driving on the highway and the car stalled. Was told to pull over due to loss of power with a red turtle on the screen. This has been happening to allot of people. Barely had time to get over. There was a recall software update to provide warning, but that just gives warning but does not fix the issue as its a transmission problem. Now check engine light is on and has to go to dealer.
7/19/23 - dash warning to pull over because car was going to turn off (from recall software update). (image attached) unclear how long I had and upcoming road was more dangerous, so I pulled over in an area with highway speed traffic and only half a shoulder. Car did not reset on first attempt to restart and stuck in "turtle mode" (<10 mph). When I called the dealership, they originally offered me the roadside assistance number, then talked me through reset over phone when I pushed back that I was not in a safe spot with cars flying past me. I was able to drive <10 minutes to dealer after car reset. They were able to get codes and confirm car is undrivable and I need a new transmission. As of 7/28 they still have my car with no update on when part will be shipped. Prior warning: on 7/11, dash showed "put in p to park" alternating with "press brake and push button to start" while driving down the road (note d for drive in lower right on attached images, also photo of car still on/in run). This started at the same time the car bucked and the check engine light came on solid. (another image shows the red battery warning light in upper left that came on when car was put in park as other messages continued to alternate. ) I pulled over and turned off car. While waiting and thinking about what to do next, the car restarted on its own. (it is possible I pressed button 2x to turn off as I recall it didn't react. But restart was a full minute later!) restarted. Dealership seemed unconcerned, despite the known issue with Pacifica hybrids. Same issue occurred 7/12. On 7/13 the radio rebooted while driving down the road with no warning. (radio issues have been ongoing and may be related to overall electrical issues?). On morning of 7/19 when final issue occurred, the radio didn't work at first. On 7/14, I pushed dealership to get software recall update that day as it did not feel safe to drive with the ongoing issues. Recall software update was in place before 7/19 incident.
Was driving on freeway with my family, including my one year old baby and four year old daughter in the back, when a warning message came on dashboard stating "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and van suddenly died in the middle of the freeway. Had to immediately cross multiple lanes and was terrified I was going to get hit by a big rig or other vehicle passing by. The safety of my family was absolutely put at risk. Contacted Chrysler dealership immediately but told they did not have any available appointments and could not examine the van until Thursday, 07/21/2023. Took the van to local dealership on Thursday, 07/21/23. Next day received a call and was told that the transmission needs to be replaced. The van was new when we bought it in February 2022 and had less than 15k miles when this incident happened. Was told by dealership that it could be months before the van can be repaired and that no loaner cars were available but that I would be placed on a wait list for a loaner car. Instructed by dealer to contact Chrysler cares, which I did. Was assigned a case number by Chrysler cares and told that someone would get back to me within 48-72 business hours, but that in the meantime there was nothing that could be done about the fact that the one vehicle we rely on to transport our kids is in the shop.
The air conditioner stopped working and a warning message was displayed on the dash stating service hybrid system, immediately after the vehicle shut off while driving above 70mph. Fits symptoms of 03a recall. Vehicle at dealership for service. 80 miles driven by customer total since purchase.
Complete loss of engine power at interstate speed of approximately 75 miles per hour without any prior warning indication or service lamps. This required an immediate emergency stop and crossing multiple interstate traffic lanes without any forward propulsion power. We were able to restart the vehicle. Upon restart the system malfunction indicator lamp was illuminated. Vehicle was driven at slow speed to the nearest dealer service center for evaluation and service.
I was driving this vehicle, a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid this evening, July 7th. The battery was operating on a charge of 1% and the gas tank was 1/3 full. I charged the battery earlier this morning but only for several minutes. This is a rental vehicle I have used for the last week with no problems. Vehicle was idle for about 3 hours prior to this incident. After starting the car at about 8:30 pm, I drove no more than several miles and received a warning that I needed to pull over “immediately” and that a vehicle shutdown was “imminent. ” I did so and turned off the vehicle. I turned it on again and the “check engine” light was on but the notice I received earlier was gone. I was able to drive the rest of the way home which was about 10 miles. I searched the vehicle and VIN later and determined this vehicle was under NHTSA recall # 23v-010 which had been completed. I am reporting this defect because it seems to be similar to the recall shown as completed on the vehicle in January 2023.
The vehicle had a safety recall performed on 3/28/23. The safety recall was to fix the problem of the vehicle shutting off while driving. On 4/23/23 while travelling on the highway at 70 the vehicle went into limp mode and started coasting. I had to drift to the side of the road. I was able to restart the vehicle after waiting 2 minutes. The same thing happened while traveling 70 mph on the highway in 6/16/23. It happened again on 6/18/23 while traveling at 55 mph on a country road. There was no shoulder so had to stop in the road. My families safety was put at risk because there was no warning the engine just stops and the car coasts to a stop. The vehicle has not been inspected by Chrysler.
Three (3) incidents between 36 miles and 110 miles on brand new minivan - beginning 6/10, 6/11 and today 6/14. The first time the vehicle was plugged in charging 120v l1 charger, my kids came to me and said the van is making noise all the time. The key was inside the house about 75 feet away. It sounded like the cooling fans were running, varying in speed every minute or so up to high speed, the dash was lit up with battery error, transmission error, and charging error messages, the red wrench with electric bolt was lit, maybe other messages. I unplugged everything, tried to shut off restart car from keyfob, the doors were left open, the start button did nothing, the shift knob was stuck in p and locked. Nothing would unlock the knob. It appeared to be a computer glitch, I removed the neg battery cable and reattached it and the car started and the messages cleared. The second time while driving the car lost power and stopped, same issue, luckily I had a pliers with me and I again rebooted the 12v system and it ran fine again. During both these events the dash always said "regen engine oil and fuel in progress" this time I tried to reset the oil life monitor, it made no diff to the regen message and I noticed the new hybrid car was not using any battery so it seems the engine was running all the time. The regen message remained for days until I decided to get gas, I read adding 4 gal might clear the message. I went to the gas station and again today 6/14 as I parked at the gas pump the car dies before I even got out to pump gas blocking the pumps, I quickly reboot, but the doors would not open, I crawled to the back and rebooted the 12v system and added 4 gals. When I restarted the car it ran normally again, then the regen message cleared and the electric motor began propelling the car as intended.
