Purchased vehicle through carvana with approx. 21,504 miles on 4/1/2026. On 5/5/2026, with only 22,269 miles, the dashboard lights came on and informed us that vehicle will shut off soon and to stop safely. We were traveling 75 mph down the highway. We had it towed to a Chrysler dealer. They couldn’t find a problem after a week. The second time we experienced the same issue was on 5/19/2026 at 21,493 miles. Again, we had it towed to the Chrysler dealer. They told us the same thing and even implied it was the way we were driving that was the issue. The third time we experienced this problem was on 5/30/2026 with 22,636 miles on the odometer. We will be towing it back to a Chrysler dealer.
Vehicle randomly shuts off in ev or ice mode usually when driving on highway at 60-70 mph; warning comes of “vehicle will shut off soon” check engine light and limp mode; eventually power goes off and steering also stiffens ; this happed multiple times, but the check engine like didn’t stay on long enough for the dealership to be able to read it! so I was give the vehicle back then the same thing happed over again! very unsafe to drive, not feeling comfortable to drive!.
Lost power. System said to pull over immediately. Error code p0a43.
Red turtle symbol, vehicle going to shut down, indicates issue sensing power from the hybrid drivetrain.
While driving at approximately 65 mph on I-35 in moderate traffic, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of motive power. I was positioned in the far-right lane at the time of the incident. A notification message appeared on the dashboard screen (likely the "stop safely" or "service hybrid system" warning); however, there was no accompanying audible warning tone to alert me to the severity of the issue before power was lost. The failure rendered the vehicle unable to accelerate, creating a severe safety hazard. I was forced to navigate to the shoulder and stop for the vehicle to reset and allow me to reach the exit while the vehicle was effectively crippled, moving at speeds under 10 mph amidst highway-speed traffic. I was eventually able to exit the freeway at this reduced speed. This was the third and fourth time issue had occurred. This happened immediately after leaving the dealership to resolve this exact issue and was told that the vehicle was safe to drive again.
While driving at approximately 65 mph on I-35 in moderate traffic, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of motive power. I was positioned in the far-left passing lane at the time of the incident. I was forced to navigate from the far-left lane across multiple lanes of traffic to reach the exit while the vehicle was effectively crippled, moving at speeds under 10 mph amidst highway-speed traffic. I was eventually able to exit the freeway at this reduced speed. This was the second time this issue had occurred. The previous check engine light had cleared on its own and I assumed the vehicle was safe to drive.
As I began driving errors popped up engine failure, electrical system and hybrid system errors, the gas pedal would not move beyond 10 miles per hour, the brakes made a weird noise as if were trying to start the car. This happened with no warning.
While driving in the carpool lane on the freeway, the vehicle displayed “stop safely. Vehicle will shut off soon” and lost all power. I am pregnant and had four children (ages [xxx] , [xxx] , [xxx] , and [xxx] ) in the vehicle. The outside temperature was over 100°f, and we were two hours from home. The car was completely disabled in heavy traffic, creating an extreme safety risk for my family. After waiting about 15–20 minutes, the vehicle restarted and we were able to continue. A code scan showed p0a78 – drive motor “a” inverter performance. This is a serious safety concern, and I am requesting immediate inspection and repair under warranty. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
High voltage battery pack, power inverter module (pim), and hv charging system. Pim replaced twice (p/n 68381781ad, 8/4/25 and 8/18/25) after being found melted with arcing damage at hv connections. Battery pack has active bpcm fault codes and a recorded cell voltage excursion. Vehicle available for inspection. Vehicle lost all motive power without warning at highway speed on multiple occasions, requiring the driver to pull over. This occurred on a platform subject to recall 24v-536 (hv battery fire risk). A melted inverter and arcing at hv connections were found on a vehicle still being driven daily. Bpcm data shows cell 79 recorded a voltage excursion to 1,526 mv — less than half minimum safe operating voltage — stored in permanent memory. Yes. Lawless inc. (woburn, MA), authorized Chrysler dealer, confirmed fault codes pa121-00 and p0a43-00 on 8/4/25 and replaced the pim. Vehicle returned 8/18/25 with same failure — dealer confirmed arcing damage and melted inverter. Three visits total; defect unresolved after two repair attempts on the same component. All three visits performed by authorized Chrysler dealer under 10-year/100,000-mile hv battery warranty. Stellantis warranty claim opened each visit. No police or insurance involvement. Red warning "will lose all power" appeared on instrument cluster before each shutdown. Battery range has displayed erratically since 2/28/25 (~17,788 miles), when nonlinear discharge was first reported and dismissed. Active bpcm level 2 safety fault (l2/l1 cell max v cmp_flt) remains present today.
On 8/12/2025, he vehicle displayed a warning that said "stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon" shortly after it was parked. It also displayed a red turtle and the check engine light. There was no warning or check engine light prior to the message that the vehicle was going to shut off. Fortunately, we had already parked safely, but were on the freeway traveling and about an hour away from home. It was 100 degrees outside, and we were stranded with no help from Chrysler customer care other than to tow the vehicle, leaving our kids and dog in a parking lot with no car. We declined this option and had it checked by a diagnostic computer at jiffy lube, which returned no diagnostic code. Eventually, all of the warnings and check engine lights went off, and we were able to take it home. We took it to the dealership at the earliest opportunity on 08/14, and they confirmed that this is a known issue and would require a transmission replacement. There is no timeline on the repair or replacement, only that it will take "a while". They do not advise that we take the van back because the issue could come nback at any moment and the vehicle could shut off without warning.
On August 2, while traveling about 75 mph, the check engine light came on along with the warning "stop safely – vehicle will shut off soon". The vehicle started immediately losing power. We were driving in the fast lane in traffic so pulling over was difficult and dangerous. After we were to the side of the road, we turned the van off. After 10 minutes or so, we continued on and pulled over at a rest stop. We have an obd2 and checked the codes. At first, there were no codes even though the check engine light was on. After checking a few times, there were 2 codes. They were p1c65 pd and p0a43. I took the van into the dealership on August 4. They saw one of the codes saved. On August 7 the dealership preformed a software update. They were not able to reproduce the issue. Today, September 19, while driving, the check engine light came on with the warning "stop safely – vehicle will shut off soon". The vehicle again started immediately losing power. This time it happened when traveling about 45 mph.
Driving on the highway, all of a sudden, my car dashboard shows a message that " vehicle will shut off soon" and the accelerator does not work. It was horrifying; there is no median to pull the vehicle out.
While traveling on an interstate highway at highway speed (65-70 mph), a red turtle warning light came on with the message "pull over safely; vehicle will shut off soon. " almost immediately, we lost all power and glided into the right-hand shoulder. We narrowly missed being rear-ended. We got it to a local dealer, where the service department informed us we need a new transmission. The car has less than 13,000 miles on it.
On 04/26/25 while traveling on the interstate the car issued a warning engine light and turtle image to pull off the road as the car would shut off, immediately it had no power, maybe could only go 30 mph. Took the car in on 5/10 which was the earliest appt. Said they did a software update, gave the car back. Took the car again on 6/4 when the same warning appeared again on the interstate, same situation disabled vehicle at high speeds on the interstate and no power. Said they changed a module related to the error and gave me the car back. Yesterday as I was driving on I-95 70 mph the car gave the same warning and shut off again, immediately I had no power, 30 mph. The dealer acknowledged my car is not the only one in his shop with this issue. They had my vehicle for nearly a month the time before. This vehicle is not safe to drive on the highways as it can shut off at any time. It's a known problem by Chrysler and their idea of fixing it, is issuing a warning which gives you almost no time to get off the highway before your speed is greatly reduced and even then you're stuck on the side of the highway with cars speeding by in an area with no shoulder or construction zone you'd be stuck in the middle of the road. Someone will wind up dead on the highway, I am lucky that in the 3 times this has happened I have not been hit and have been able to safely get to the shoulder, but I don't see Chrysler being able to fix this issue, the dealership did reach out to the manufacturer each time. I know my car is not the only one that has this issue and I'm concerned for the safety of anyone who owns one of these. A simple google search of this vehicle will show the problem is wide spread.
The van did not transition from electric to gas engine when driving and battery for the electrical engine was depleted. The dash board displayed a red turtle and said slow on dashboard. But it would not drive forward. I was on a hill and the van backed down the hill in reverse. I did this multiple times - turn off van, restart van and try to go up hill, reverse it down hill again. At some point, there was enough electricity for the electrical engine to kick in and I was able to drive home. After the van set for a while, it restarted and I was able to drive it to my ultimate destination 147 miles away. I researched online and found there is a recall for this very thing, but it does not include my car. Why is my life so hard? its a new van to me.
Vehicle displayed "stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon" followed by a complete lack of power. We managed to get to the side of the highway safely. Vehicle would not turn back on until about 45 minutes later. Before we turned off the vehicle it said service charge port. Check engine light is on, even after we managed to get it started. Currently at the shop, waiting for information on why.
While exiting an interstate, the van felt like it had popped out of gear and lost power, and the instrument cluster had the message "stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon. " I was in the middle of three lanes on the ramp, and due to traffic and no shoulder I was unable to stop off the side of the road. The van died at the top of the ramp at the traffic light, causing a risk of being rear-ended by approaching traffic. I had my two children in the van at the time. After attempting to cycle the ignition several times and stepping out to wave traffic around as the traffic light cycled several times (causing a traffic backup), the van started and drove normally albeit with the check engine light on. I have not had the time to take the van to a dealership for diagnoses, but looking online this is not an unknown problem and is related to the Pacifica hybrid's transmission. Just wanting to make NHTSA aware of another event of this fault occurring.
I rented this car from budget on Saturday, may 31, 2025. When I drove it on Sunday, June 1, 2025. The check engine light came on and the car gave a warning that it would shut off. The first time I saw this notification I was stopped at a stopped sign at a 4 way intersection. The car proceeded to shut off after some time (maybe 20 seconds or so, not sure). I was at a full stop and the car was in "drive". When the car shut off it went into "park" automatically. I turned the car back on and put it back in "drive". The car would not move. I check to make sure the parking brake was not turned on and it was not. I put the car in "park" and back into "drive" and the car still did not move. I turned the car off a few more times before it switched back into gear normally. I was unable to return the car at that time. About an hour later as I was driving on the interstate in the left lane, the same warning light came on. I had to immediately move from the left lane of a 6 lane interstate all the way to the right shoulder. There was no exit or left shoulder. Once I got there the car idled for a moment and shut off; I am uncertain how long it was before it shut off. I waited a couple of minutes since I was also shaken up at having to move so many lanes on a busy interstate with so many lanes. I got to my destination after about 30 minutes. On the way home about an hour in to the drive, the same thing occurred. I moved onto to the right shoulder of a two lane interstate at this time. This time I shut the car off myself and waited a couple of minutes to turn the car back on. I then drove another 45 minutes home. Then this morning, same warning in my driveway before I left to return it. There were issues with the blind spot warning not working some of the time as well as the display screen would flicker on and off or just become disabled but still visible. I have reported this to the rental company but I want that car off the road.
[xxx] first “red turtle” breakdown on freeway after about an hour of freeway driving, car went into “red turtle mode” (“limp mode”) on the freeway, alerting us that the engine would shut down shortly and that we needed to get to a safe place to stop. The car wouldn’t accelerate fully, putting us in danger on the freeway, where cars were speeding all around us. June 2025: dealership’s first attempt to fix the dealership showed stored error codes p0a43 drive mode code a position sensor intermittent. But, the tech said they were unable to replicate the error. They kept it in the shop for a couple days, then sent the car home with us with no fix. They told us to restart the car a few times and it should go away. [xxx]: second breakdown on freeway on [xxx], with all three kids in the car, we drove the car from sacramento to san rafael. On the way there–the first long car trip with the van since the [xxx] incident, the red turtle alert appeared again. We were going uphill and unable to fully accelerate on the freeway, again putting our entire family in danger. We were luckily able to pull off of the freeway, restart the car several times, and continue driving–wondering the entire time whether the vehicle would again lose power, and sure enough it did. [xxx]: third breakdown on freeway later that same day, on our way home, the red turtle alert appeared again, the vehicle was unable to fully accelerate, and the message warned us that the car was about to shut itself down. This time, we were on the freeway with no exit available to us. We had to pull over onto an unprotected shoulder, with cars speeding by us on both sides. It would have been unsafe for any of us–but especially my toddlers–to exit the vehicle. We sat on the side of the freeway, restarting the car repeatedly, waiting to see if the alert would clear and the vehicle would become drivable again. Eventually, it did. We brought the car to the dealership again. Spent over a week there information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia).
Driving at highway speed (70 mph) the vehicle repeatedly has flashed a warning : stop safely vehicle will shut off soon the engine cuts power and the vehicle must be pulled over and turned off and cannot keep driving. It leads to very unsafe conditions at highway speed. The vehicle was repaired once for the defect by Chrysler but it still continues to occur and is now being repaired again.
The vehicle experienced multiple incidents of sudden power loss while driving.
Numerous times over the last eighteen months, our 2023 Chrysler Pacifica phev enters 'turtle mode' where a red turtle illuminates on the dashboard, and the car loses all motive power. Sometimes this occurs on local streets, but most recently it occurred during interstate driving, requiring evasive maneuvers to exit the driving lanes and get to the shoulder before all forward momentum stopped. So far, turning off the vehicle, opening the driver's side door and re-starting the engine clears the problem temporarily, but yesterday - [xxx] - the vehicle entered 'turtle mode' eight times during the four-hour car-ride from northern west virginia to northern virginia. Several visits to Chrysler dealerships have resulted in zero fixes as they have been unable to replicate the conditions. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I received a warning to park safely, engine will shut down soon. This is the third time it has happened. One time coming down a mountain with no place to pull over safely with a van full of family members. Second time at high speed on an interstate, this time on a high speed local road, but had enough time to pull over before losing power. The van has been in the shop and/or waiting for repairs for over 10 weeks during my 53 weeks of ownership. Chrysler has delayed accepting the recommended repairs that their dealer states is necessary. I have spoken to other Pacifica owners that has experienced the same issue. Is Chrysler waiting for folks to get killed before accepting responsibility?.
We rented a '23 Pacifica from enterprise. While driving 70mph on an interstate in houston, a safety warning popped up "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon". On the interstate, I wasn't able to keep my speed. Speed dropped quickly and dramatically. Luckily, I was able to get to the side but could have been hit in the process. My 2 daughters were in the car. It was terrifying. According to my research Pacifica did a recall of 67k hybrids and their solution?? add software that gives a warning. That was the solution. Not to fix the deadly issue but to add a warning. [xxx] . Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
We were driving on the freeway, 80 mph, 0% battery life. Warning came on the dashboard stating something like “ pull over safely, engine will stop”. Engine had already stopped and we luckily avoided impending doom and pulled off to the side of the highway. Turned car off, waited a couple min, and started the car again. Car turned on with check engine light. Able to slowly get to the next exit. Next morning, took to dealer. Say there were not able to see any issues. Van is around 28,000 miles.
While driving at highway speed the vehicle flashed a vehicle and I’ll shut down sign. A red turtle flashed and the vehicle began to decelerate. Had to pull over to a less than safe sand shoulder. Had highway speed traffic directly behind me. Dealership pulled codes related to the transmission. No previous issues or sign thereof. 25k miles.
The vehicle randomly went into limp mode. The check engine light came on with error code p0a3f. The vehicle was restarted and drove normally with the check engine light (cel) still on. We immediately made an appointment with the dealership to get it looked at. As we were driving into the dealership parking lot the cel cleared itself. There is an existing TSB for this exact scenario and symptoms. The dealership and Chrysler corporate (stellantis) are refusing to fix this issue because there isn’t an “active code. ” the code is in the history. Since then the cel has come on multiple times but cleared itself too quickly to get it to the dealer in time. We took it a second dealership this time with an active code, but the code cleared itself upon restarting the car after leaving it there. This vehicle is not safe to drive since it randomly goes into limp mode with no power. This poses a very dangerous and unsafe situation that can endanger me, my family, and other drivers around me.
This is the second time we received an alert that our 2023 Pacifica hybrid minivan while driving sends an alert message to stop safely vehicle will shut off soon. A green turtle and red hazard triangle image accompanied the message. First time it occurred was Friday 3/7/2025 and again after servicing on 3/14/2025. Both times the vehicle was traveling at a lawful speed of 65 to 70. The first time it lost power and in order to get to side of road safely the gas pedal had to be pushed to floor to get a reaction and any power. The second time the power seemed to stay until we got to side of road. After turning vehicle off and then on- them message was off but the check engine light remained steadily on. Then upon restarting a second time after driving to dealer it turned off and stayed off. Dealer stated they could not get vehicle to demonstrate any issues and found a stored code that showed only p06de and no active faults. Car appeared to drive fine until the second incident on 3/14 when it occurred again. We have video of codes.
On our daily commute the car came to a stop at a light and then the car then turned off and would not start again. We tried everything but the engine would turnover. After 3 hours, the car then started and we drove it to dealership and they detected no faults or codes.
Vehicle lost power with no prior warning at highway speeds. Vehicle then displayed "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" message. In order to attempt a reset, driver must turn off, leave vehicle with fob and secure vehicle. Then return to vehcile and start up in an attempt to reboot. Check engine light remained, but functioned nromally for a day. Vehicle did the same on another freeway at 70 mph, and continued with the same events above several times, some producing immediate repeat message, or other times getting a half mile down the road. Depending on availability of a shoulder or center divide, this is extremly dangerous to fail unexpectedly on the highway. In California there are freeways with over 6 lanes, try getting across 6 lanes of traffic with no power, in limp mode. Vehicle is now at dealer awaiting diagnosis and repair. I continued with the vehicle when the tow truck service via Chrysler corporate stated 60 -90 min response. My saftey was more of a concern if I had to wait that long.
My vehicle suddenly experienced a loss of power while driving, starting at 62000 miles per hour. Sometimes the same problem occurs again after driving for several hundred miles per hour, and sometimes even after driving for tens of miles per hour. When this problem occurs, the vehicle cannot continue to drive and can only rely on inertia to slide. It must be parked on the side of the road, the engine must be turned off for one minute, and the vehicle can start again to drive normally. My car has now driven at 89000 miles per hour, and this problem has occurred countless times. At first, it occurred about once every 2-3 days, but now it occurs twice a day.
Hybrid system will not run on battery. Hybrid system shows 100% battery charge on dash. Hybrid mode screen shows engine at 12kw, battery use at 0kw, and climate at 7kw. S.
I have pulled out to go across road and it was like the car wouldn't go. It would be like it was coasting. And then it would kick in hardand fast. Very very dangerous. Have you had any other people say that. ? it's done it about 5 times. . Where I almost got hit and or ran off road when it did go.
We were driving on the freeway, 65 mph, 0% battery life. After two days, they said it needed a new transmission?! still waiting after 2 weeks. 2023 Chrysler Pacifica. 17,000 miles.
This is the second time this happened in one week. Incident happened immediately after being sent home without repair by the dealership. Driving down the interstate, our car displayed the "stop safely. Vehicle will shut off soon. " red turtle light came on, and car lost all acceleration. We managed to pull over without being hit. Turned the car off and then back on. Check engine light was now on, but the car would drive. Hybrid battery was charged at 66%. In both shutdown instances, dealership says it is unable to replicate the problem, and therefore will not look further into the problem.
Driving on highway in hybrid mode, van lost engine power and coasts to a stop in traffic. Dashboard light says stop safely vehicle will shut off soon. The engine is effectively off with no motive power available. This happened 4 times in a row over the course of 1. 5 hrs on [xxx] from virginia to north carolina! we were nearly killed by traffic trying to clear the roadway with no power from the engine whatsoever. Completely unacceptable! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
We were driving on the interstate at approximately 70 mph when our car gave the warning, "stop soon. Vehicle will shut off. " a turtle warning light also lit up. We pulled over to the side of the road and turned the car off. After a few minutes, we were able to turn the car back on and drive home, though the check engine light was then on. We took it to the dealer the next day, with the check engine light still on, and the dealer was unable to reproduce or diagnose the problem. They said there were so many warning codes that they could not determine what was the problem and that if they followed what the codes were telling them, they'd have to replace the entire wiring system of the car. They also said that one or more of the codes was related to the transmission. They drove the car extensively and couldn't reproduce the shutdown. They are currently still trying to diagnose the problem with the car at the dealership. There were no warning signs from the vehicle prior to the incident. The incident occurred right around the time when we would have depleted the all-electric charge and switched over to using gas.
While driving on the interstate, we heard a warning chime and a warning about the engine shutting off was displayed, along with the check engine light and a turtle icon, and the vehicle lost engine power. It was just coasting, which made it difficult to get to the shoulder in multiple lanes of heavy traffic. We called emergency roadside assistance who told us it was in limp mode and called for a tow truck. According to the dealership, a sensor in the transmission has malfunctioned and the entire transmission will need to be replaced. This appears to be the same issue for which these vehicles were recalled, so whatever repair Chrysler has done is clearly not effective. Our vehicle was purchased new, after the recall service had been done.
We have less than 3k miles currently on this vehicle. We were traveiling to the mountains for a vacation when the check engine light illuminated. Stayed on for 2 days and reset itself. We were in the smokey mountains and a warning came up to "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon. Within a few minutes, all power was lost, all lights were inoperational including the 4 way hazards. After just a few minutes, the van restarted and operated as if nothing happened. The check engine light stayed on long enough for a Chrysler dealer to read the codes. Esentially, a problem with the high voltage system interlock circuit a, drive motor a inverter performance are the major codes. A slew of others all related to this issue. The hybrid mechanic stated it is the same issues that plague the 2017-2021 Pacificas hybrids. Losing all power is not acceptable, especially in the mountains with a vehicle less than 4 months since delivery.
I bought a new 2023 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid in March 2024. In April 2024, mileage 2,301, while driving on neighborhood roads, this warning message appeared: "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and the engine check/malfunction indicator warning light illuminated. I had about 15-30 seconds to pull over and then the vehicle lost all power. All warnings were gone the next morning so I hoped it had been a glitch. 3 days later it happened again (mileage 2,559). I didn't think it was a glitch anymore so I had the vehicle towed to an authorized Chrysler dealer. Star (Chrysler) advised them to check pim connectors and return the vehicle to me. I had been unable to drive the vehicle for 15 days. Less than a month later, mileage 3,933, it happened again. I had it towed again to the same dealer. This time star advised and approved replacing the transmission. This incident added 28 days of being unable to drive the vehicle, for a total of 43 days. 23 days later, while driving on an out-of-state highway, mileage 5,012, it happened again. This was extremely dangerous since we were driving at highway speed and did not have much time to pull over before the vehicle shut off. I had it towed to an authorized dealer near where I was staying out of state. That dealer performed repairs even though I didn't authorize any. I have no reason to believe that Chrysler can fix the problem.
I bought a new 2023 Chrysler Pacifica pinnacle from the dealership with 20 miles on it. The next day, I was driving the car and exiting the highway when it said “rear safety alert, vehicle will shut off. ” the car turned off and my kids and I were stranded on the highway exit blocking traffic. I called the dealership and they picked it up to try to see what was wrong. I was told it needed a new battery from sitting in the dealership for months . We considered trading in the car since I know longer felt safe, but I trusted them to fix it and make it safe. Once I got the car back, within 24 hours it did the exact same thing and shut down while entering the highway this time. The car is currently at the dealership again. I do not feel safe that it will not randomly keep turning off.
We are currently on a family vacation going from CA to nebraska and our 2023 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid completely shut down on us while driving through las vegas. A warning came up on the dash stating “slow down, engine will be shutting down”. We were on a main freeway and almost got hit because of this. We had our two kids in the car and are so upset this happened especially because we just bought the vehicle in may 2024 and this is the second time this has happened to us. We had to pay for a rental vehicle out of pocket to continue our trip and get our van towed to a nearby dealership in las vegas. It is currently sitting at the dealership and we have no idea how long it’s going to take to get fixed or how we are going to get it back to CA.
This incident occurred twice in the past 7 days. Once while driving within feet of a train tracks crossing and another while driving 65 mph on a crowded freeway in los angeles. Both times, the car flashed a warning to “stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon” and then within 20 seconds I lost all power to the vehicle and struggled to get to the side of the road. After approximately 20 minutes of sitting there, the vehicle started again and drove normally. I understand there was a recent recall for this issue and it appears this is a continuation of that. This vehicle put my family’s life in danger twice in the past 7 days. Something needs to be done.
This is a new 2023 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid, it's only 1k miles and 1 month after the purchase, I experienced a sudden loss of power while driving in the afternoon on 6/20, there was a warning light that beeps and tells me I'm about to loss power. Fortunately I am still half mile away from freeway entrance, and I just stopped at a red light blocking vehicles behind me. . . . The car wouldn't start for a few minutes, and I finally get it to start after I open and close the door. The engine light has been on since the incident, and eventually went away the next day morning on 6/21, right before I dropped it off at dealership to get it checked. They read the code and confirmed it was transmission. The dealer told me they will know what to do by mid next week, and if a new transmission is needed it will be a few more weeks before it can be fixed. There was no loaner car, and Chrysler only gave me $40/day allowance for rental car which is not nearly enough to get any small car, let along a minivan.
While driving with my young family my vehicles engine shut off and all steering was lost going appx. 50mph. As the the vehicle shut off, a warning popped up and said “stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon. ” this was very dangerous and could have caused a life treating injury.
Vehicle lost motive power while driving. Vehicle was new with less then 1,500 miles. After a full charge drove about 4 miles and received message "vehicle will shut down". Tried to pull into a gas station parking lot and only made it half way through the parking lot. Vehicle has been brought to dealer and a new power inverter module is being installed.
On the afternoon of may 26, 2024, I received a warning "stop safely - vehicle will shut off soon". I pulled to the side of the road but was still in an active traffic lane in a traffic circle and cars had to stop and/or swerve to avoid hitting my car. If this had been at night my safety would have been even more greatly compromised. The engine promptly shut off and would not restart. I was towed to the nearest dealer which still has not diagnosed or repaired the car. This may be related to recall 23v-010 and the ongoing rq24004, of which the dealer had no knowledge. I took delivery of the car, a 2023 Pacifica plug in hybrid, on March 25th and it has less than 4000 miles on it.
Lost engine power on highway with warning on the dash "stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon".
We purchased a brand new car and we have driven just 778 miles. Below are the things happened suddenly while driving on highway on our long planned trip and it screwed up entire journey. 1. Instrument cluster suddenly shown the error “service charging system” in the middle of highway when I was driving in 70 mph speed and the vehicle started applying heavy breaks automatically and speed dropped down from 70mph to 25mph in 5-6 seconds. Engine light is on as well. I’m unable to accelerate. Somehow luckily I was able to pull the car to right shoulder. We were scared that we will be in an accident due to sudden brake. 2. I tried stopping the car and then starting. It shown the same error couple of times. 3. After couple of times, I tried to press brake and push on start button, the brake hit me back and I’m unable to press the brake at all. 4. Instrumentation cluster shown series of messages like below. . A) keyfob not detected in the car - we are still in the car and key fob is with us in the car b) hybrid system not working 5. After some time car wipers automatically started and wiping very slowly. It could be because the battery is low and we are shocked to see why the wipers are started though there is no rain and also the wipers control is in off position only. 6. We in the car are shell shocked and my pregnant wife is still in trauma even after a week thinking about the incident. After calling sos, the vehicle has been towed to nearest heritage cdjr dealer of harrisburg. But they are not ready to inspect the vehicle right away. We waited for 4 hours and then we had to take the rental vehicle to restart our journey. It's been a week and the car is still with the dealer. I along with my pregnant wife and 5 year old kid spent almost stranded for 8 hours during this entire drama. I have raised case with Chrysler as well. No update from the dealer service department though. This is a defect piece I received and I never wanted to drive again keeping life at risk.
I have had this van for just under a year. While driving on the freeway last year, it gave me a warning to pull over and that the van would shut down soon. When I took it to the dealership, the check engine light had turned off and I was told there was nothing they can do. On a recent 1000 mile family trip, we had the same thing happen 5 times. The van has currently been at the dealer for over two weeks and they are not able to tell us what is wrong with the van. This is a huge risk for safety as I was driving on the freeway at 70 mph with my family in the car and had no idea if I would be able to get out of traffic before the van shut down.
The power train system of our vehicle experienced a critical malfunction, as indicated by the "service charging system" error message and engine light on the dashboard, leading to a loss of power in the accelerator. We are willing to cooperate and make the vehicle available for inspection upon request. The abrupt loss of power in the accelerator at a high speed posed an immediate risk to the safety of my wife, two infants, and other road users, necessitating an emergency maneuver to coast to the side of the freeway. The dealer confirmed the error on oct 30, 2023, and attempted to rectify the issue. Unfortunately, their efforts were not successful, as the problem recurred on Nov 11, 2023, after the vehicle was returned to us. The vehicle has undergone inspections four times. The first inspection occurred at the dealer on oct 29, 2023. Subsequent inspections took place at the dealer on oct 30, 2023, Nov 6, 2023, and are scheduled for Nov 14, 2023. Despite these thorough inspections, the recurring issue has not been successfully resolved. We remain open to facilitating any further inspections required for a comprehensive investigation. The vehicle was bought brand new with 12 miles on the odometer at the dealer with an illuminated engine light on oct 29, 2023. Despite attempts to rectify the issue, the warning message persisted, and the incident on the freeway occurred on Nov 13, 2023. If you require any additional information or clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out. We expect urgent attention to this matter to ensure the safety of all Pacifica hybrid owners. Sincerely, ho fung.
I was driving in virginia in a rental and the check engine light came on then the following message came on "get to a safe place the car is going to stop". A few seconds later the vehicle shut off and stop in the middle of traffic. I did not have time to pull over. I turned everything off and restarted the vehicle it was fine for about a mile then it happened again. I waited about 10 minutes before starting the vehicle to take it back to the rental company.
Vehicle has an auto start/stop feature which turns off the engine when the brake is applied and the vehicle is at a full stop. When stopped at a traffic light with the engine auto stopped, driver lets foot off brake when light turns green, but engine fails to start. Vehicle remains stopped in an active traffic lane, or potentially in the middle of an intersection. A chime and a display message guides driver to shift to park and manually restart the car. Has happened at least five times in 6,900 miles we have owned the vehicle. Dealer service department could not reproduce or find any log of the event occurring. They told me it needs to happen more frequently so they can reproduce it. I find other reports of this problem online going back to at least 2018.

While driving I got "rear seat alert" followed by "car shutting down in 9 secs" message, it happened twice. The first time on northern state highway in NY. I was driving with my family, and the car unexpectedly shutdown happened. Nothing worked, I had no power, no steering, no brakes, all gone. Our luck was that I was already on the right lane and just had to let the car stop in the curbside. Because of the messages, we thought the rear door was opened or something. After a few minutes, after several tries, the engine started, and we exit the highway and parked on the local road to try to understand what happened. We decided to continue our trip on the service road. We end up on ocenside, NY on a two lane, busy street and it happened again, but at this time I was not able to move the car to the curb, the car stop completely on the middle of the road, no steering, nothing. Because of the incoming traffic, our hazard lights alone were not enough to warn the coming traffic. We though that an accident was eminent, for which we called 911 for help. I could not get out of the car because of the speed of the incoming cars. After several attempts, the car turned on again, I parked on the curb and I called the avis rental roadside assistance, because I was not going to put my family, including an 87 year old in jeopardy. After we got home from the long, stressful day. I searched internet and for my surprise, there were several posts (links) relating the same issue I had. Including recalls from Chrysler about a short circuit, which could even cause a fire. Chrysler issued a no parking inside note, which is hard to understand. I feel it is my obligation, as a family person, to report this incident, because this car should not be in the road. Avis is currently renting this car. Furthermore, for my surprise, I saw a ad on nbc, 5pm yesterday, 07/26/2023. It is just a matter of searching on internet to see the danger that families are exposed.
1. Engine light and the "a" warning light stay on while driving. 2. It's unsafe with family in the car; fear it will shut off on the highway. 3. Yes, the dealer has agreed its a defeated part causing the engine to light to come on 4. No warning lights before driving a car for a week.
I was driving the van a day after I bought it with only 42 miles on it, was going to make a turn onto a busy road and the car made a horrible noise and suddenly stopped. After a minute the 03a "fix" came on warning me to pull over safely but the car had stopped on it's own and would not restart, it was dead. Had I been on the highway when it happened it could have ended very badly.
I have a 2023 Pacifica with around 3k miles. I purchased brand new. In the few months that I have owned the vehicle, it has turned off about 5 times while driving. It loses all power. Engine, power, etc completely dies. I need to restart the vehicle, wait for start-up, and then I can continue driving. The vehicle has currently been at arrigo sawgrass Chrysler since 07/13/2023. Arrigo continues to say "they can not duplicate the issue and it does not show on computers " I called Chrysler corporate for escalation. They told me that they have no record of the vehicle being in a repair shop until 07/25/2023. The bottom line is, this is a real problem. I have a 4-year-old, 2-year-old, and 2-month-old plus myself and my wife in the vehicle. What if this repeats and the car turns off in an intersection with a semi coming or worse? I understand the computer is not always accurate and it's a new vehicle. I do not feel safe if they return the vehicle without correcting the issue and do not want my family to be the test dummies for an issue that can be prevented. Chrysler is impossible to intervene and the dealership is only doing what they can. However, they don't get paid if they cant find issues so it's a tough situation. Thank you in advance.
