Right and left lower control arms are failing. Steering rack replacement is required for repair and imperative for safe vehicle driving. The safety of people in the car is greatly at risk. Since learning about the true problem, the van is parked and we're having to borrow another car for transportation. The issue is that when turning, the steering wheel gets stuck. This seems to occur at 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock positions during turns. The Chrysler dealer was able to reproduce the issues when taking the car on a test drive. The component has only been inspected by the dealer. This issue first appeared about 6 months prior to it seemed like a fluke at first. The occurred became more consistent and that's when we took it in for surface. We took it into a local auto shop a few times and they were unable to detect the issues. Then we took it into the dealership where they were able to identify the issues. I'm not sure if there were warning lamps prior to failure.

We experienced a failure of the entire steering rack assembly and tie rod ends and also the control module for the steering system. The repair cost was just under $5,000. 00. I question why the entire rack and pinion steering system needed to be replaced. I ask what component failed on on the steering rack and what specifically fail on the steering control assembly. No logical answer was provided. I told the dealer I brought the van in for a diagnosis of concerning steering corrections taking place even with the steering adaptive function turned off. I explained replacing everything involving the steering of the car should correct the issue but it did not feel like a diagnoses and more like a shotgun approach that I would be forced to pay for. I explained by wife drive this vehicle and she had a trip planned to travel across the chesapeake bay bridge and I believed the erratic behavior of the steering was to dangerous to change driving. I rented a replacement van to ensure her safety. The problem was recreated by the dealership and the estimate to replace everything involving the steering system was provided as the fix. I have the steering assembly at my home but no one has opened or inspected what components failed. This failure appeared around 81,000 miles on our 2017 Chrysler Pacifica limited. I have owned 5 Chrysler products and have never had a rack steering assembly fail even with most of our vehicles exceeding 200,000 miles.
Crash info - 12:50 am, 2024. 2024 Chrysler Pacifica touring l components failed: airbags non-deployed; steering control module; tcs system; fwd collision avoidance & lane departure; + not avail to inspect. Car sold at auction. Obtained black box & obd info. Car owned by ean holdings, llc. - enterprise rac. Problem not reproduced, car not drivable after crash. Did not notice any warning lamps, too busy trying to keep car on road. My wife was heading home after some late-night shopping when crash occurred on 2-lane dry & clean asphalt country road. Weather was a cool and clear moonlit night. Posted speed limit 45mph. With her headlights on she could see very well far up ahead & knew her surroundings, where the roadside became grass on the left, & a drainage ditch to the right side. She chose out of caution to drive near the center line in the roadway to give ample distance between the passenger side of the car and the soft shoulder to the right. Approx. 150 ft before she approached the turn to the left, she felt a sudden & very intense tug from the right rear wheel. This caused the car to jerk out of control, shoving its back end to the right. It was impossible to correct the vehicle's course & what the car decided to do on its own accord. The car then proceeded to yank the steering wheel hard to the right (while she fought to keep the car turning left), and it forced her off the right shoulder of the paved road, across a 3-foot soft shoulder on the passenger side of her car. The car continued traveling off the road and over a gravel and corrugated drainpipe, landing her in a deep 5-6' irrigation ditch, and abruptly stopped on an uphill slant, making contact with a small sapling tree/weeds. The ride was so violent from all the jarring & bouncing that everything inside the car was flying around like in a front-loading washing machine. She had to exit via the back pass side door. Airbags did not deploy & car required towing. By the grace of god, she did not die!.

My vehicle was performing great - no issues what so ever until fca performed recall 03a. After I had fca us llc recall 03a for loss of motive power installed; my vehicle had several issues the same day I picked it up from the dealer. They stated it was ready for pickup even with all my issues and they new I had ½ of them and still turned it over to me. . 50 % of the issues are still waiting to be repaired. The major issue remaining is the high voltage battery. After 1 year of them trying to get the vehicle back to the condition I turned it in before for the recall - Chrysler refuses to replace the hv battery under the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. They will not let anyone order the part even the dealer can not. To order the bad part Chrysler star (fcas part replacement approval authority) has to approve it. They say they won't replace it due to normal degradation. I was getting 30 miles per full charge and after the recall I was only getting18-20 miles per full charge. That is not normal degradation. Now I only get 17-18 miles per charge. They degraded my battery with their recall. The battery degraded by 33% in 2 weeks – that is not normal their recall caused it. I feel someone needs to enforce them to put my vehicle back the the same as I turned it over to them September 26, 2023 at their expense no matter what it takes. The following is the list of issues in the past year because of recall 03a. Basically my vehicle was in the shop for repairs almost the entire year! 1. Engine lite is on all the time since recall. 2. Charging system errors. 3. Gear selector does not work intermittently making undrivable. 4. Side doors and lift gate do not open or close automatically. 5. Radio display keeps flashing intermittently 6. Back up camera flash on and off. 7. Every lite on the dash lights up - giving my vehicle multiple canbus errors shorting out every computer system in the vehicle 20+ computers.

This happens every single time we drive our Pacifica: per many other complaints available online, the current gen Pacifica (2017-present), when equipped with adas such as lane keep assist, has a steering issue as follows: -under varying conditions, the vehicle's steering wheel will "stick. " this issue typically follows a small steering input of 10-25 degrees in either direction. -when the steering wheel sticks, it presents 2 major safety issues: 1) the vehicle maintains its course and could collide with objects or veer off the road and 2) the sticking of the wheel is so severe at times that the counter-steering required to correct the "stick" presents a danger of driving into oncoming traffic. . On 5/31/22 I took my vehicle for service due @ error. The dealership mac hakil I-55 jackson ms slept my vehicle until 6/2/23 telling me it was my battery charging $813. 00. I feel this was a ripped off.
We purchased our brand new 2021 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid limited on April 19th, 2021, from hoblit Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram in woodland CA. At the dealership, my wife and I were able to add user profiles to the uconnect system, thereby customizing our driving experience to fit our individual needs. However, I started to notice a number of issues with the vehicle over the following weeks. Uconnect related: 1) the ability to add and remove user profiles disappeared. 2) the uconnect system randomly resets about once every couple weeks. 3) the uconnect system will randomly blast the am/fm radio or will randomly start playing sirius xm at loud volumes. 4) the navigation system will sometimes navigate to the wrong location, despite the address being inputted correctly (I used google maps on my phone to confirm the wrong address). General vehicle issues: 1) the vehicle will sometimes keep itself turned on (despite turning the vehicle off) as long as a phone is connected to the vehicle via bluetooth (the car doesn't drop the bluetooth connection after turning the vehicle off!). 2) sometimes, the vehicle will power on, allow you to shift into other gears, but won't steer or drive (I have video of this). Lane keeping assistance: 1) the driver-side lane departure correction is noticeably less accurate than the passenger-side. I'm hoping you all can help get some attention on these issues. It's crazy that Chrysler released the 2021 Pacifica hybrids with such a faulty uconnect system. The internet seems to suggest that Chrysler is and has been aware of all of these issues but has not yet done anything to correct them. Mechanically, this car is great, but technologically, it's so bad my wife has on more than one occasion voiced her regret regarding this purchase. Our experiences are not one-offs, these issues are systemic across the 2021 Pacifica hybrids. I have videos for items 1 and 2 under the "general vehicle issues" section above.
