A few weeks before this happened, I noticed my rear tire leaning outward. Took it too the shop a few times wondering what was the cause. It was determined from a dealership it was the struts. I was told the Pacifica was known for it. So I had the struts replaced. It helped but the tire was still leaning, it wasn't perfect like the rest. I was told that there was no other reason because everything looked good underneath and suspension. I looked several times, myself. Not seeing any major rust or anything unsafe. Then driving on the freeway 150 mile's from home, at 70 mph, a hard bang and the rear end lifted up and dropped down. Car uncontrollable. Finally able to stop and realize the subframe dropped right out of the car leaving my rear differential on the ground. It had rusted from the top of the subframe down. Looked on line and seen it was happening to other people. Called Chrysler was told my problem. Hence my first american made car and my last. Pos!!!.

Our 2007 Pacifica continues to have problems. One Chrysler dealer stated it was safe to drive and good to go. 2 days later studs on tire broke off. Other side studs were loose and had to be tightened. We took vehicle to another Chrysler dealer who inspected vehicle and had a list of things wrong including ,rear and front motor mounts being broke. Power steering fluid leaking, transmission lines leaking, rear brake pads and front rotors need replacing and wheel alignment right camber off in front and rear alignment off and right toe is off. The first dealer stated they did a front and rear wheel alignment and less than3 weeks later the alignment is that far off. Something radically wrong with this vehicle, and/or first Chrysler dealer. All of this after going through 3 plus sets of shocks and 2 tie rod ends and now another wheel alignment! very unsafe, vehicle with still undiagnosed reason for all this. Chrysler insists the vehicle can be repaired. We do not trust that statement any longer. It is our belief that this car is defective. We believe something in the suspension or design is causing all of these parts to continue breaking, and continuous alignment, tire, brake problems. Now motor mounts and power steering, and transmission leaks. We did not get any value from this car purchase. Chrysler should be held responsible for the defective car we are stuck with. We could have been injured twice already by tires almost falling of car. Now we need to worry about fires from leaking lines and also worry about broken motor mounts. Help us please! this car needs to be taken off the road and we need to be reimbursed. In the meantime we cannot safely drive car any distances as we wait for an answer from Chrysler corp. On what they can do for us.

While coming to a stop in a parking lot the tire valve stem blew off, completely deflating the tire. Six weeks later the same thing occurred to another wheel. It appears that valve stem corroded just below the cap. The pressure inside the tire then blew out the schroeder valve resulting in a quick deflate of the tire. If this had happened at highway speed it could have resulted in loss of steering and possible accident or personal injury. Both tire valve stems have been replaced, but now wondering if the remaining two need to be replaced. Such a design of this product is a potential fatal accident waiting to happen.
I was driving the car to the gas station to put gas in it and the car shut off as I was pulling up to the gas station and there was a car coming towards me and the car had the right of way. I had to literally stop my car and run to the front of the car that was coming towards me in order to prevent and accident of the car running into my car. I know it had enough fuel I keep my tank full and just wanted to fill it all the way up since I had extra funds that week. Ever since the shut off the car had been sputtering and having trouble switching gears. I just purchased this car and it has been a disappointment, one after the other!!!!! then there's an issue with the front end where you hear a popping sound if you should have to unexpectally have to hit the brakes or if you go over a speed bump.
In January, the suspension on our 2004 Chrysler Pacifica (purchased 08/2003), seemed to have issues. A web search to investigate, led me to a much more serious issue that effects '04 and '05 Pacificas. I had our mechanic inspect the frame and sure enough, we were one of the many affected. Our mechanic told us the car was no longer safe to drive, and that the compromised frame caused the front right wheel to shift inwards. We were quoted between 4,000 and 5,000 dollars for our repairs. The car now sits in the garage as we hope for a resolution. After in depth research, I uncovered thousands of complaints related to the issue, two nbc news segments, and a petition. I also discover that a few years back, Chrysler extended the warranty for vehicles produced between February and March of 2004. However, since our vehicle did not fall under this provision, we were never informed that we may have been effected. I contacted Chrysler and opened a case. I was instructed to write an email to the case manager that contained all of the information which I uncovered online (as if they didn't already know the issue existed). This proved to be a waste of time, as we were declined any assistance because our vehicle did not fall within the extend warranty. We have been the only owners of our vehicle, which has 68,000 miles, has been garage kept, and has been driven only by my 85 year old grandparents. Apparently, Chrysler has made a business decision not to address this wide spread issue. There are thousands of owners driving unsafe vehicles, many of which are completely unaware that this issue exists. Us, as well as all other parties effected are due appropriate recourse, but I fear that we will have to cut ties with our vehicle before there is a resolution.
The contact was 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the tires were continuously losing air. The contact mentioned that after inspecting the tires, she noticed that all four valve stems cracked. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician verified the failure and replaced all four valve stems. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was replaced. The failure mileage was 102,000 and the current mileage was 114,000.
When driving the vehicle it shakes on passenger side some awful, scary too feels like its gonna fall down on the street or the tire is gonna fall off.
These vehicles have a bald problem with the tires going bald way too soon and that is a safety hazard they shouldn't have to be replaced every 10,000 miles I always got new tires at 45,000 to 60,000 but now I cant wait that long. I've seen many of other complaints about this not just me. I did plenty of research before I filed a complaint about this. .
The front wheel studs are breaking off the vehicle and this is the second time this has happened in the last 3 months both time there has been brand new studs and bolts put on. It has caused the wheel to fall off the vehicle and cause other damages to the fender.
The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, a loud noise was heard from outside the vehicle as the steering wheel began to vibrate. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer. There were numerous parts replaced on the vehicle over a period of time including two tie rod ends, four shocks and a wheel alignment was performed with each repair. Most recent ly, the lug nut studs were replaced due to the suspension defect. The contact was uncertain of the location of the parts that were replaced for any of the repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while having maintenance done on the vehicle, the technician advised that the front passenger and driver side tie rod did not have any grease fittings. As a result, both tie rods needed to be replaced. In addition, the contact mentioned that all four wheels were corroded causing air to escape. The vehicle was taken to the an independent mechanic. The technician decided to use a power brush to clean the wheel and applied a rubber sealant. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 22,000. Updated 5/9/13 the right and left outer tie rods were replaced.
I took my car into the dealer where I purchased it and have it reg. Service I was looking to have a oil change and a sticker. They changed my oil 29. 00 and rejected my car for a rotted frame and told I should not drive it. Service manager also told me they Chrysler would pay for the part $4500. 00 and labor but I was responsible for $300. 00 ded. And all the parts that needed to be replaced if any were damaged, motor mounts etc. No loaner or rental this was not my bad the car was great till that day I have a $5000. 00 loan and over $5000. 00 worth of work to get a sticker. When I went in to sch. Work they said deal off, part was sent back I cried for real.
Multiple issues with this car! I will start with the problems that didn't almost kill myself and my children. The abs light would stay on and the dealer had no resolution. The car would stall while turning. I replaced the battery five times in four years. While idling in the driveway the drivers seat reclined by itself, would not respond to the controls and started smoking! the dealer claims they could not diagnose the problem! lastly, while driving my sons to school, the car was handling poorly and because it was dark and raining, initially I believed that it was wet road conditions. To maintain control of the car, I was traveling in the slow lane and my speed was approx. 30 mph. Upon approaching the top of a small hill, the steering began to vibrate violently, at this time I believed that the car had a flat tire and that was what had caused the poor handling while driving. I immediately hit the button for my hazard lights and began to try to ease into the emergency lane and attempt to stop the car. It was instantly apparent that the car brakes and power steering were not working, which left me struggling at 30 mph and accelerating because of the I was now on the downward side of the hill, to try to maintain control of the car! I was able to keep the car from completely veering to the right and ultimately hit a 5 inch concrete curb that is a turn out for the corner gas station. Upon hitting the curb the car then sprang to the left back into the highway lane. Miraculously, no other vehicles were traveling in that lane at that moment! once, we were out of the car, I learned that the car did not have a flat tire but a part of the front end had broken and caused the passenger front tire to collapse into the wheel well. . . Unbelievable! I believe this to be a defect of the car, in addition to he multitude of other defects of this car!!.
My tires, which are not defective nor worn keeping loosing air causing the tpms senor to come on. After taking it in many times to get air I was told the tpms senor was bad on one tire and there was corrosion around the wheel. I replaced it and had sealant put around the corrosion. I was informed that this was a frequent problem with these wheels and Chrysler is aware of it. I still have to continually put air in the tires every 7-10 days, and the "service tire system" message now never goes out.
I have had my car from 2011 till curent and replaced the front axels/tie rods at least 3 to 4 times a year. Last incident it broke while pulling out of drive way and I lost controll and rolled down a hill into 4 lanes of trafic narrowly missing the gas pumps at th station across the 4 lane thank goodness no one hit me with my young child in the car. When I first had to take it to a dealer to get them changed 2 other cars in this small town I live in were there also having theres replaced. This should be a recall every person I talk to states this is a problem that is arising from a rusted cradle problem when manufaturing the car. I would like my car repaired where thiws will no longer happen and it is too exspencive for me to fix. I have decided to look further into this issue and maybe come together with other with this issue. There should of been a recall by now. I had my oil changed and was told that my boot is busted and that I needed to replace the drivers side yet again and I do not have 119. 00 to pay my local Dodge for this yet again!.
2005 Chrysler Pacifica touring with 36,200 miles has original equipment tires that have an air lose from the front tires of over 5 pounds each week of air presure. Cause is believed to be corrosion of the wheels resulting from electralisis due to contact from the chrome wheel covers. This much air lose could result in a driving hazard if tires are not checked weekly. It will also shorten the tire life.
Headlamps - the headlamps had to be replaced due to light beams not coming through the clear plastic cover. The cover became cloudy and visibility was limited which caused safety concerns. The Chrysler dealership tried to clean but was not successful. Tire sensors - a year ago, we had an issue with the message center not responding to the tires. The Chrysler dealership installed 1 tire sensor and several months later a new message center panel had to be replaced. A year later, we are replacing the other three sensors. We are told by the Chrysler dealership that the batteries only last several years. They claim that these sensors are goverment regulated. Why are we putting parts into american made cars that have to be replaced every several years that cost $100 for each sensor plus labor. Either Chrysler needs to produce a better sensor that lasts longer or the government should provide rebates since this is regulatory. These car issues should be considered a safety issue and reviewed for potential liabilities that can cause harm to the driver.
The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact noticed that the passenger front tire was loosing air. The vehicle was taken to the tire garage and the mechanic stated that the wheel was cracked. The wheel wasn't replaced. The manufacturer will be contacted. The VIN wasn't available. The failure and current mileages were 139,000.
Is Chrysler doing anything about the bad rims they put on the Pacifica? having to air my tires daily, I've change the tires 3 times, removed the sensors, and having a multitude of service people check them. When all the while it was the rims which have cracks and are difficult to find. Did Chrysler issue a recall on the rims or are we on our own?.
