2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

Car went completely dead at car wash at night leaving me and my young granddaughter stranded until we could get a jump. This happened several times with the battery not having any problems nor any lights being left on in interior. Happened to notice the other day the fog lamps were on but the switch was not turned on. It was draining the system. Had to pull the fuse to fog lamps in order to stop the drainage. This has left me stranded with small children forcing reliance upon strangers in order to restart the vehicle, on more than one occasion. Now the fog lamps are inoperative until a fix can be found, which could lead to a potential collision if driving in foggy conditions which could prove fatal due to it being a convertible. This is a gt turbo edition.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2012

Approximately 3 -4 months ago I took my car to the mechanic because the airbag light was intermittently coming on. A complete diagnostic was completed and the mechanic determined that "nothing is wrong with it. " a week later the problem continued and the battery light became coming on. About a week after that, I was traveling about 40 mph when all of the lights (battery, traction off, abs, brake, airbag, oil, etc) came on and began flashing at different intervals. My headlights and dashlights also began to flicker before the car died and would not restart. I had purchased a new battery just weeks prior, so this was not the problem. I again towed the car to the shop where I was again told that there were no problems. I've been driving the car for two weeks and trying to ignore the battery and airbag lights flashing. Last night while traveling on a major road at 50 mph, the car's lights again began flashing, the automatic transmission would not shift, and the car eventually died and would not restart. The car was towed home and after sitting for an hour, it restarted, but the lights were still flickering.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2012

Please help, this is my only car and my son and I depend on it for everything. While driving on the expressway my vehicle began missing ( shaking etc. . ) until it finally died on the expressway. It started when I pulled away from a stop light and began to pick up speed accelerating to blend in with traffic flow. I was not able to get over 40 mph. 1. The rpm gage jumps all over the place 2. The car quits while driving down the road 3. The quits while running in heavy traffic moving slow (more often on hot days) 4. Car dies at stop lights (random) 5. Car engine dies when trying to accelerate (random) 6. Car dies no response for seconds then it restarts at high speeds on the express way. I took it to an auto parts store that will diagnose problems with cars using a tool that they hook up to the car. They said it was the cam shaft sensor, my father contacted the local service station and they recommended replacing the timing chain as well. This problem has been on going since 2012, though I would love to sell it I would feel responsible if someone was killed because of this problem. I never know when the problem will start I have spent more money that I should trying to fix this. Is there someone who can help so my car will be safe for me and my son?.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2012

Engine lite came on. Replaced recommended parts. Lite came off and on over a year or so with same diagnostic. Replaced same part in late 2013 and lite still stays on. I am told now it is the computer itself. Have been told this is a common problem for Pt Cruiser owners and that many replace the same parts I did and it is to no avail. To my best of recall it is the upper/in lower/out oxygen 2 sensor. With the computer (engine lite) causing this problem Chrysler should have a recall on it.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2010

I purchased a 2005 Pt Cruiser in June 2008. Several months later I noticed that my car would shake once I turned on my ac. While it was under warranty, I took it back to the car dealership and they advised me that I needed a tune up. So I had my car serviced for a tune up to only find out that the problem on persisted. I took the car to several mechanics and no one could figure out the problem. They all said I needed spark plugs although I just had them replaced. Flash forward to November 2010, on my way to work out of no where my car started putting and my engine was shaking as if my car was about to explode. Again I took it to a mechanic and he said the same thing. . . Tune up. Clearly this was not the case, however I had my gaskets changed to see if that was the issue. . . Negative. So I decided to google what the problem was myself just to see if I missed a recall or if this is a problem. T o my surprise I found several forums specificallly for teh Chrysler Pt Cruiser. To top the cake their issues was the exact same issues I was having with my car. Engine shaking, car putting, and the car cutting off while driving! I called Chrysler to see if there was a recall and I was so baffeled that there was not. This is clearly a safety issue and I'm very dissapointed that chrylser is ignoring the seriousness of the matter! this can potentially cause a fatal accident. How scary is it driving on the highway and your car just stops or starts putting! I have spent over $500 trying to fix this issue and others have spent thousands on Chryslers behalf. My car still has the same issues today 8/26/2011. I can't afford a new engine especially when this is a more than common issue. Please google "pt cruiser engine shaking problems" and see the many blogs and complaints. Each blog has the same issues listed, and I know this has been brought to Chrysler's attention but they choose to ignore it. Fyi. . It only took Toyota 11 complaints for them to recall their vehicals.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2005

Since new, Feb. 2005, my 2005 Pt Cruiser shakes and stumbles at idle. At 180 miles, the engine stopped in freeway traffic. I was able to get the car restarted, but it ran extremely rough. The dealer replaced a crankshaft position sensor. The engine hasn't died since, but I still experience rough idle and stumble on acceleration. The dealer tells me they can do no more to correct the problem.
