Steering Rack And Pinion Problems of Chrysler Pt Cruiser

There is a clicking sound when the steering wheel is turn to either side. I had the power steering pressure switch replace twice and the rack and pinion replace and the car still makes a clicking sound when the wheel is turn. Dealership replace the part and an individual mechanic has replace the same switch. To no avil , I'm having this problem.

My Pt Cruiser has had to have all of the front end replaced, car started acting up at 50,000 miles and I now how almost 81,000 and I have replaced everything in the front end except the cv joints, which I hope does not need after I send this. I just had to have the rack and pinion done. When speaking with Chrysler directly they state that the Pt Cruiser has had a lot of recalls due to front end, but I am told that my VIN number does not fall in the mix. I am the only owner of my Pt Cruiser. I have replaced parts on my car starting back in 2010 early 2011.

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. The contact stated that she was unable to turn her steering column. She also smelled a strong burning odor emanating from her vehicle. While driving 25 mph the power steering failed without warning. The driver was able to maintain control and pulled off the road. The dealer states the rack and pinion, the power steering pump and hoses needed to be replaced. The cause has yet to be determined. Please provide additional information.

Power steering failed. Dealership states the power steering rack and pump are defective. This was a sudden loss of steering. The part is back ordered up to 3 weeks which leads me to believe this is not an isolated incident. There must be a significant number of rack failures.
