3 Service Brakes problem

Tl-the contact owns a 2000 Chrysler Sebring. While driving approximately 20 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle continued to accelerate. The emergency brake was engaged in order to stop the vehicle. The contact was able to resume driving cautiously. The vehicle was taken to an independent auto shop where the rear and front brakes were replaced. The rotors were resurfaced. The technician also informed the tie rods were faulty; however were not replaced at that time. The manufacturer was notified of the defect and they stated there was not a recall related to the brake malfunction. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000. The VIN was unavailable. Js.
