17 problems related to air bag light on have been reported for the 2002 Chrysler Sebring. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Once I turn on the car the airbag light goes on and off constantly.
The contact owns a 2002 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated and the cruise control was not operable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was unknown.
My air bag light has come on and has been on for over 3 months. I saw today on wink news that 2002 Chryslers were being recalled due to air bags. I looked up my vehicle by VIN number and it says 0 recalls. Could you please let me know if auto is safe to drive.
The airbag light has come on and off for the last couple of month. I took it to the dealership and also did some research online regarding the light only to find that this is a more than common, irreparable issue. On 2/10/2015, while driving- specifically coming to a stop, I saw a swirl of what appeared to be smoke, coming out around the steering column. A woman, with only my son in the car, I was fearful, pulled the car to the side and had it towed. I have since been advised that what I saw was not smoke, rather, powder from the airbag which is apparently leaking. That has not been repaired. I resumed driving and after about a day and a half, the air bag light is back on.
Air bag light just stays on!.
Air bag light is on, stays on, and the alarm for it intermittently sounds.
The airbag light in my 2002 Chrysler Sebring lxi convertible comes on constantly. It comes on and off as it pleases. I am worried this is a safety issue. The Chrysler dealership "fixed" it but a few months (after warranty was expired) it was back on. This has been an ongoing issue for about a year.
Air bag light on 2002 Chrysler Sebring gtc convertible mysteriously goes on & off. This seems to be a stock trouble for this particular auto as seen on the internet.
Heard cracking noises from steering column. Air bag indicator light came on; horn does not work; cruise control does not work. Note: dealer aware of problem. "air bag clock spring" failure. Part is currently on national backorder from Chrysler, according to dealer service mgr. As a result, vehicle does not have a functioning air bag srs, horn, or cruise control. Basically, this one part failure has rendered the vehicle unsafe and illegal to operate while I await a manufacturer's back ordered part.
Airbag light comes on intermittently at various times, with no obvious triggers. Sometimes it's on for days or weeks, other times it comes on and goes off every few seconds, other times it stays off for months. Totally bizarre. I'm sick of it, but I can't trade it in with the light constantly doing stupid stuff like that. This has been happening since I bought the car in 2003. It's a 2002 Sebring convertible. This has happened at least 400 times.
Consumer 2002 Sebring air bag light illuminated and seat belts were inoperable. ***** the driver's side seat belt retractor was defective.
The air bag light comes on and off. The consumer contacted the dealer. They put vehicle on the diagnostic machine to find out what was wrong with it. The wiring under the passenger's seat has an open circuit which is causing the light to come off and on.
Airbag light staying on, and clicking noise in steering wheel when turning. Took to dealership where we purchased vehicle. They replaced a clock spring.
Airbag/clock spring broke while making a right hand turn into a parking space. This failure made the airbag light come on and the steering to make a clicking sound while turning. I contacted the selling dealership and was advised to bring the car in as soon as I could. The airbag could deploy on it's own or may not deploy in case of a collision. I took the car to the dealership for repairs. I found technical service bulletin #0801001 and #1900702 pertaining to this problem and notified the dealership. The dealership repaired the car which I purchased new less than 2 years ago, but is out of warranty because of mileage. I was charged for the repairs. I think a safety issue, such as this, which is known about, should be covered under policy by the manufacturer.
I leased the 2002 Sebring convertable lxi on sept 9, 2002 since then I have been having on going problems with the air bag light since June 2003 to this date may 2005. Still having the problem. They have replaced the seat belt tensioner 3 times n the driver side and 2 on the passenger side, along with the seat belt buckle, set belt extracter. The dealership keeps replacing these parts but every other month it seems that the air bag like is still coming on. Amongst other issues I am having with this vehicle such as the steering pulling left to right or when I excel {4 times this has happened} the steering spins 3-4 times completely around I have been complaining about this since June 2003. The transmission is bucking, slipping, and/or sticking into gear, I have been complaning about this issue to the dealership since February 2004. To this day may 15, 2005 all the above complaints are still an issue.

After ten days of purchase air bag light came on and remained on even after dealership replaced air bag light module. This part wasn't available for two months from the manufacturer. Consumer was told that vehicle was fine even though air bag light was still on. Dealership still has vehicle. Please describe details.
