1 Engine problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2010

The engine (a 2. 7l v6) "blew" or "locked up" with, what we learned later, was an oil sludge accumulation problem. No oil pressure warning light ever came on until it was too late. The engine can not be repaired, only replaced. The dealer we bought the car from, purchased the car (a rental from florida) at auction. So we bought it from him with 18,000 mi already on it. Chrysler would not honor the extended new car warranty (8/80000) we purchased (at $1000 extra) because we could not prove, with receipts, that the engine was properly maintained. So far nothing has been done to fix the car because we can't afford to replace the engine at this time. We have also since learned that Chrysler is currently involved in class action lawsuits regarding the 2. 7l v6 engine in 4 states: California, florida, illinois, and new jersey, although it may have been consolidated by now (9/30/2010). Need some help. Thanks.
