2006 Chrysler Sebring convertable approx 45,000 miles for no reason horn goes off and will not stop blowing. Only way stop stop the horn is by removing the fuse which deactivates the airbag as well as the horn. To stop my horn I have to drive without an airbag. I have taken the car tto the Chrysler dealer who says warrenty is up and it will cost up to $1000 dollars to replace the hornpad and airbag. I have read numerous complaints of other Sebring owners having the same issue and cannot believe a safety recall has not been issued.
The horn on my 2006 Chrysler Sebring convertible no longer works when I push the horn manually, but it does blow when it wants to, without anyone touching it. It blows when it is parked in the garage at home, when I am walking into work, when I am sitting at a red-light behind someone, and when I am just riding down the highway. That is the first problem. The second problem is that since my horn decided to develop a mind of its own, it has taken over the rest of the controls located on the steering wheel. The radio controls no longer work, and the cruise controls work intermittently. Of course it worked fine while under warranty. It waited for the warranty to run out for these problems to occur. The only way to get the horn to stop blowing is to beat on the steering wheel. So. . . . Here is a scenario for you. . . . . I'm riding down the highway, my horn starts blowing by itself, I start beating on the steering wheel to get it to stop, and the airbag goes off causing me to wreck (and probably other people too). . . . . I sue your company for not fixing the problem to begin with. . . . . Who do you think will win this when there are 100's of other complaints about the exact same problem that I am having? it is an extremely dangerous hazard, and it puts the airbag module at fault. Lives are at risk here and you need to recall these cars and fix the problem!!!!!.
2006 Chrysler Sebring horn blow intermittently. I see on the internet that others have had this problem and because it is located with the airbag may be a safety issue.
