1 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2009

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Sebring. When the contact started the ignition, there was a low power response when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The (mil) malfunction indicator illuminated on the instrument panel, which remained lit until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they stated that the control sensor wiring was chewed up, possibly by mice or squirrels. The vehicle was repaired; however, the service warranty was expired. The failure recurred on a separate occasion. Through research, the contact discovered that the sensor wiring was made from a soy base product. The manufacturer was notified and the vehicle has not been repaired. The VIN was unknown. The failure and current mileages were 20,000.

2 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2007

I purchased my Sebring in may of 2007 & the rear window defogger contact keeps breaking off from the window and therefore doesn't heat the rear window for ice removal. I don't remember exactly when the first time it happened was but it was within the first year of purchase. It has been repaired 3 times by either solder or glue. This was covered under warranty. On the 3rd repair my rear window shattered on 12/24/10 (I might add it was snowing!). I contacted my insurance company & was advised to bring the car to a car repair facility (who my insurance company deals with) who specialized in the repairing of convertible tops. A new rear window was ordered & the replaced. Again! the contact has broken off from the window & again! I am left without a working rear window defogger! I find this to be a somewhat dangerous situation as convertible tops lack a full rear view & having no way of defogging my rear window leaves me at a disadvantage. The problem to me, seems to be that the electrical wiring from contact to window is too short & therefore breaks from the contact. I don't know if any other Sebring conv. Owners have this problem as I have not seen this on any problem reports but I can tell you this is very frustrating & I would love the Chrysler company to correct this problem. I don't feel I should go through my insurance company for the replacement of a new rear window as this is an inconvenience.
