Driving south, from michigan, had driven approx. 600 miles of a 700+ mile trip, vehicle started "chugging" at 70mph on the highway, decelerating, unable accelerate, this was not in an area of differing elevations, it would almost stall then surge, then repeat. Cruise control was not being used at that time due to heavy traffic. Pulled the vehicle off the highway, into a store parking lot, shut it off for a few minutes, restarted and no further problems until today when driving for less than 15 minutes, on the highway at 60mpg, heavy traffic, it began again. Again, it was pulled over shut off and restarted with no further incidents today. You people need to do something to fix this. Someone is going to be fatally injured. I am not the only one experiencing this same issue.
I have a 2007 Chrysler Sebring limited and when I take my key out of the ignition and open the drivers door it still indicates on the dash that the key is in the ignition, therefore causing my key fobs to not work as well. I cannot set my alarm on my car because the key fobs are not working and I have to sit in the car for 30-60 seconds waiting for the dash to stop indicating the key is still in the ignition so I can lock the car doors. It is a big hassle and inconvenience.
I was driving at about 55 mph, etc light starts blinking erratically. I then lose power and go down to 10-20 mph. Later that weekend, I started my car and the same thing happened, without it driving.
I was going about 55 mph when the electronic throttle control light came on. It was flashing with made it impossible to reach speeds over 40 mph. I was a danger on the highway because I was unable to maintain speed as well as the vehicle hesitating. It took me 1hour and a half to travel 35 miles. The next day started it and the light went out, I have been afraid to drive it. No one seems to have an easy answer.
The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that the headlights, interior lights and dashboard lights would sporadically flash. The dealer replaced the multifunction switch several times however, the failure was not corrected. The contact also stated that the vehicle intermittently stalled without warning. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 45,771.
The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that wile driving 30 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the vehicle was serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 08v152000 (electrical system ) but they were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 73,000.
Engine is stalling once car is cranked. When pressing the brakes to put car in reverse or drive, the car cuts off. Once able to get into drive and try to drive, the car's brakes can not be touched or the car will stop instantly. The car also does stop and go driving like it's pulling on something heavy.
When my husband drives my car, he moves the seat back. When I drive my car, I move the seat forward. This action causes the airbag light on the dash to come on. When I move the electronically controlled seat forward/backward, the airbag light will "sometimes" go off. The NHTSA ref 07v240000 references a recall for the front seat track position sensor. I contacted Chrysler to see if my car is one that has been recalled. I'm told that it is not. I think it should be.
While traveling in virginia on int. 64 the electronic throttle control warning light came on and the car lost power. I turned the car off waited a minute and the car was fine. This has happened three times in the past. Dealer claimed it was fixed and it keeps happening periodically. Normally on trips.
The instrument panel light that illuminates the speedometer and other gauges works randomly. Airabag warrning light illuminates and the warning bell sounds at random times. Engine stalls when stopping and starting in wet weather.
The dash lights started blinking like a strobe light now they will just be off completely and randomly come back on. When they are off at night I cannot see my speed gas or temp.
I have had my vehicle in for service on two different occasions for the same problem, the check engine light won't go off and now my vehicle will not engage out of park.
Gas cap light has come on at least 10 times--stay on for 2-3 days, then go off for no reason-was at a local mechanic several times--been reset over and over. Radio keeps blowing a fuse-replaced at least 7 times. Headlights are delayed coming on when they are turned on. Now at 91,000 miles-vehicle refuses to start--tries to turn over, but wont. Had at local mechanic for 1 week-no codes will come up. Several components replaced-still refuses to start. . . Now being towed to Chrysler dealer----and VIN#--is not listed on recall.
Purchased 2007 Sebring base model one month ago. Had dealership complete all recalls before purchase. Tail lights attached to the upper portion of the truck flooded/filled with water anytime there was rain and when you open the trunk it dumps the water on your head. All 3 break light seals were replaced and plugs removed to allow better drainage - issue resolved. Emergency break light intermittently illuminates while driving - emerg break is off and new breaks installed issue still unresolved. Delayed auto off headlights did not shut off. Returned to vehicle 2 hours later with daytime running lights still on and since they are automatic there is no way to turn them off. After cycling the engine they shut off, but now fail to come on at all. In the base model there is no feature to turn them "on" or "off" - issue unresolved. The vehicle also refuses to change the setting to turn the "auto unlock" feature "on" when vehicle is put in park. This feature also refuses to work on "first unlock" on the key fob. The doors just continue to stay locked - issue unresolved. I hope mine does not start shutting off on me like so many other complaints.
I had no brake lights and the seat belt indicator light kept dinging as well as the tire low indicator. It was all because of the total intergrated power module. It was on back order for five weeks. It cost 750. 00 for just the part. I feel Chrysler doesn't recall these even after 1000s of complaints because it is to costly. They are making money on the part alone. I will never buy another Chrysler over them not doing the right thing. I could've been rear ended over this. It cost me 995 just to get the tipm put in. I still haven't fixed the seat belt dinging or the low tire dinging yet. Hate to see how much that will cost. Somebody needs to make Chrysler do the right thing and issue a recall. Safety before anything.
I purchased my car used 3 yrs ago. I paid if off this year. The ongoing troublesome issue is that the car stalls out unexpectedly- usually during wet weather. It has happened about 5 times or so. But, it has almost happened many more times. . . The car sputters and just about stalls out. Again, all during wet weather. I contacted the dealership where I purchased car after the 1st incident. They took the car and said I needed a new battery ; that it was being drained when I had wipers, heat, radio etc all on at once and that was why it stalled. I went with it. Well, it has stalled several times since. All while driving and very scary. The power steering goes out. Another thing that may or may not be related. . . Is that the dash lights flicker on and off; also a safety issue. I will be driving and all of a sudden can't see my speedometer or anything. I think there is definitely an electrical issue. I see that there have been recalls related to the electrical system. I just don't know what to do. I think they should look into this.
2007 Chrysler Sebring. Consumer states on numerous occasions the vehicle stalled without reason while driving, slowing down or making a turn.
My was making a loud knocking sounds while increasing speed, then sound would go away. Took it to dealership an they stated I didn't have any problems with my car. June 2011, my car started stalling while at stop light, now my car is wanting to stall while I'm driving around 50mph. Dash lights also flicker on and off. Chrysler dealership states they can't find anything wrong with my car since it's not giving them codes but recommend I replace the engine. I've been reading reviews of the same problems with this car company and there cars. How are they not responsible for all these motors people are having to replace, I think they should have to fix these problems an not get away with it.
Car stalls, engine stutters and hesitates when at a stop, turning or going around a bend at 30 mph. When initially stepping on the gas rpms will drop then surge (~2000 rpm). Almost hit a car in a parking lot on one occasion because of a surge. Also, the car stuttered and jerked on the highway. Chrysler dealership reflashed pcm on one visit and ran diagnostics on another visit and found nothing wrong with the car.
This car shuts off, all the light so on and off and this has been happening since it was less than a year old. We have taken it to Chrysler dealership and they have said it didnt happen when they had it. The interior light comes on when you turn on right turn signal. The abs light goes on and off and the seatbelt light.
I own a 2007 Chrysler Sebring touring sedan. Sometimes when breaking or accelerating, the vehicles electronic throttle control sensor light will engage, and the car may fail to break or accelerate, or even completely turn off. This has happened to me on the highway, as well as city streets. This has become a more frequent issue over the past 6 months. The vehicle also sometimes jerks or transmission will skip when this happens. I have noticed the dashboard lights and radio turn off with no reason while driving. I was told no problems could be found with the electrical system as of this moment, and am still having these same, dangerous problems.
I was on the express way going to work and the car idled down and was about to cut off when the electronic throttle control light came on and the car gas pedal would not work I had to cut it off then on before it would go and it take a long time for the transmission to change gear this car is a lemon and Chrysler know it. It needs to be recalled for all these problems it only have 52,000 miles on it. It's a mess that Chrysler should fix now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
My car lost power without warning on the interstate and just came to a stop and the engine crank fine but would not start, change spark plugs but did not matter, the electronic throttle control indicator light came on, have to get it to.
My 2007 Chrysler Sebring is stuck in park.
My 2007 Chrysler Sebring caught on fire. Smoke was coming from the dashboard and steering area. The abs light came on after the smoke. (ps there were no physical injuries, but mentally it's frightening, we're terrified to get back into that car! mentally 2 persons were injured.
I own a 2007 Sebring (VIN [xxx]) with approximately 56,700 miles. I purchase the vehicle in Nov. 2008 considered new with 29,000 miles from Saturn of fremont, CA. The car is driven primarily by my wife to and from work and to drop off and pick up the children. After a recent oil change on may 2, 2010, my family and I noticed an extremely loud engine noise. For the first week after the oil change, the car would start fine but the noise became worse. The engine began to loose pressure while driving on the highway and as of today, will not start at all. I visited a Chrysler automall dealership on sommersville road in antioch, CA on Saturday may 15. I was told that I would have to pay a 130. 00 diagnostic fee as the vehicle was out of warranty. I was under the impression that the vehicle was still under warranty as I was told at the time of purchase that the warranty would be extended to 3 years/60,000 miles. The technician mentioned that the noise was a radiator or fan motor. Then I checked the recalls for 2007 Sebrings and found two recalls (NHTSA campaign id numbers: 08vi52000 and 07v473000 regarding engine and electrical matters, one of which has the same concern that I have. I called Chrysler and spoke to brittany who said my VIN did not have any concerns so the company could not help me. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
First two complaints have been recalled and serviced. Said recalls were for # 1 engine stalling and # 2 driver airbag under seat sensor illuminating on and off on dash. Even after the service was performed for the recalls, I still have engine stalling during stops and on deceleration the vehicle threatens to stall. I need to keep giving gas and on humid days that is indicative of possible rain the threat is more often. The second recall complaint that I am still experiencing is the air bag illuminator on dash for the drivers side goes on and off and the wires under the drivers seat are involved when driver seat moves front or back. Stalling is a safety issue that can cause personal injury or death to occupants in this car or nearby cars sharing the road. Also the air bag sensor problem keeps me in fear that the airbag will not deploy when necessary or will deploy accidentally on its own while the vehicle is in motion. I also have a complaint that the car when braking for a stop continued to rev causing me to use the emergency break and I had to shut off the car to stop the car totally. I have noticed that this issue is common with other peoples complaint and an inquiry would seem imminent for safety reasons. The dealership knowing the recalls have not secured the proper handling of my vehicle's safety wants to charge a diagnostic fee or a service fee when it is clear that the proper service was not rendered causing recall malfunctions to this date. For the two complaints that have recalls that I am inquiring about need to be addressed to the dealership ASAP for service and I would appreciate the outcome of this complaint in writing. As for the accelerator problem I would like to be kept abreast if a safety issue is mandated for the repair of that complaint. Thank you.
2007 Chrysler Sebring touring. Consumer states engine fire and inspector found no indication of a manufacturing defect that caused or contributed to the incident.
This is a 2007 Chrysler Sebring touring sedan with 2. 7 l "flex-fuel" engine purchased used (one prior owner in WI) on 05-22-09 with 31554mi. According to "carfax" the original owner had regular timely maintenance done. On 07-11-08 at 21199mi the first complaint was made at purchasing dealership about engine "stutter" or "jitter" at 30mph particularly when engine was cold. No record as to what was serviced. On 10-24-08 at 25276mi the egr valve was replaced per a Chrysler service bulletin. Then on 01-30-09 at 27988mi concerning the same sort of "stutter" or jitter" complaint, a "CO-pilot" was attached for 1 month which recorded no faults. The vehicle was offered for sale on 05-14-09. I have noted the same sort of problem since my purchase of the vehicle on 05-22-09. When coming to a slow or stop, particularly if the engine is cold (but not always), the rpm rises to over 2000, the car "surges" ahead until I press the brake harder. (this condition causes a much higher chance of a collision with another stopped car, pedestrian in a crosswalk or a stationary object - like a light post in a parking lot. ) sometimes the engine will stop after this and require restarting. One time I observed the "service engine soon" lamp come on for about 5 seconds after the "surge". I had the car in to the dealership (Toyota) where I purchased the vehicle concerning the "surging" problem. They checked for service codes (including soft codes) and found none. They were unable to proceed from there and suggested to take the vehicle to a Chrysler dealer to continue diagnosis. This will be done at the earliest available time.
My Sebring stalls when I come to a stop or am traveling at low speeds. The car has stalled in the middle of intersections and is obviously very dangerous to drive. The car additionally lunges at low speeds or when I accelerate. The seatbelt light on the dash goes on and off sporadically. I have determined through personal investigation the wire connection for the seatbelt light is under the driver seat and it doesnt always make a good connection. When the connector is touched the light will go off and on so that tells me that the connector has a short and is faulty. A plastic part in the gear shift has broken and made it impossible to shift without manipluation with a screw driver, and there is a loud clicking sound that comes out of the air condition vent/duct when the ac is turned on. I have owned many vehicles through the years and this is the first car that I have purchased that I am actually scared for my family and I to drive anywhere. I will never again purchase a chrylser, but not just because of the above but because they have not gained my trust. This company should try a new campaign of trying to gain the trust of the consumer, and they could start by accepting the fact that they have many faulty vehicles that need to be recalled and repaired, this is not only good sound advice this would be good business practice.
The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. While driving approximately 70 mph the vehicle stalled without any prior warnings. She also smelled a burning odor after restarting the vehicle. A local mechanic stated that the computerized system failed. No repairs were made. The failure and current mileages were 66,000.
My car lost pressure without warning during rush hour traffic on the interstate and just came to a stop and the engine was barely running eventhough it never cut off. It would crank fine but would not move, no matter how much you mash the accelerator pedal and the electronic throttle control indicator light came on , then blinked a few times and went back out. I had to have the car towed and about 4 hours later, I went to check it again and it started back to driving fine. I just new I would get slammed into on that interstate. Please check into this matter thank you.
Gas gage stopped working. According to dealer mechanic, fuel gage sending unit is not working. . . . Fuel pump does work. Dashboard lights no longer work also. Check engine light stays on and cannot be cleared or problem diagnosed.
Air bag warning light intermittently comes on. Moving the seat will sometimes cause it to go off. Recall #07v240000 describes this problem but smith auto plex in american fork, utah (where I purchased the car) refuses to do anything about it.
I bought my 2007 Chrysler Sebring brand new April 2007. After about a year (or less) and well under 20,000 miles the gas cap light would not go off, windshield wipers went off sporadically even in the "off" position, got stuck in park, fuel tank had to be replaced (which went out while I was driving), air bag light won't go off, etc. Had all these problems fixed only to have many of them recur. They were all fixed under warranty. Now after 36,000 miles and no warranty, the problems I have now are the windshield wipers still won't go off, my electric windows sometimes won't work at all (driver's side specifically), air bag light won't go off but occasionally when driver's seat is moved backward and forward but always returns, car will stall at times when pressing the gas pedal while driving. After the windshield wipers began going off again, took it to Chrysler dealership in my town. . . They contacted Chrysler to see if they would replace it again and they refused. All the recalls I read about that appear to pertain to my vehicle, Chrysler says my VIN is not a part of the recall (even though it's happening to my car too)! I will never buy another Chrysler vehicle for myself, or anyone in my family again! problems with this car started early and never went away.
