I drove my 2007 chry Sebring to a store and pulled into a parking space and attempted to put my car in park, the physical gear shift inside the car was in park but my gage said I was in reverse & my car was stuck in this position. I had this same issue a couple of years ago & was told it happens alot on Chryslers & its a little plastic part that keeps breaking with no recall on it & we are forced to purchase the whole shift level when its not needed. Ready to trade it in because it keeps happening.
I have a 2007 Chrysler Sebring automatic 4 cylinder. When driving the car intends to stutter somewhat. Especially in the rain. But whenever it accelerates at low speeds it would jump or hesitate like it wants to stall, I dont know if it could be the fuel type. I talked it over with the dealership they said it could be anything. I havent gotten it checked out yet because their going to charge me and if they cant figure the problem out. Then I wont be able to get my money back. Plus when going up a hill at a steady pace and at usual it would normally decrease in speed, I would have to smash on the pedal to just kick it in the next gear.
The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. The vehicle was previously repaired for an unknown recall in which the vehicle would not shift out of park. On September 8, 2010, I was getting into my car on my way to work when I could not get the automatic stick out of park (out of gear). I just purchase my 2007 Chrysler Sebring on June 29, 2010 at a dealership in my home state, and is the first time I have encountered this type of problem with the vehicle. Prior issues I have experienced since purchasing the vehicle on June 29 is the multifunction (emission) and airbag sensors coming on. A brake sensor has been coming on and off. Both the multifunction and airbag sensors fixed on August 28, 2010. I was informed by the Chrysler mechanic shop that the brake sensor is okay. Now, I have new problem with the vehicle. The vehicle will have to be towed to a Chrysler dealer for repair. I have missed a day from work because of this issue.
I had been driving the vehicle all day. I later went to run an errand and the car would not let me get out of park. It was completely jammed. For absolutely no reason. It was very frustrating as I was headed to an important doctor's appointment. Had to aaa tow the vehicle. Very disappointing as this vehicle let me sit. Currently being repaired and public transportation will be needed to get to work.
2007 Chrysler Sebring touring was stuck in park and would not allow me to shift into reverse, drive, neutral. Had to remove the chrome housing around the shifter and there is a little pink lever looking thing that I had to press backwards to allow the shifter to come free and go back into reverse or any gear. Vehicle this is a v-6 2. 7 engine.
I went to start up my car for the first time that day and when I tried to put the car in drive the shifter would not shift. At first I thought it was because the e brake was on but once that was removed the shifter still would not go past the "p" icon. I tried pushing the rear of the car to jar it loose, to no effect. The previous day the car drove fine and I had no issues. I eventually had to call a tow truck to pick the car up and take it to a repair shop. They told me that they would have to replace the entire shifter and it cost me $275. I bought the car this year with under 50,000 miles on it. I haven't had any other problem with the car until now. The repair shop replaced the shifter with the exact same shifter from the Chrysler corp. I now find myself wondering if the same thing will happen again?.
Chrysler-sebring 2007,( 2. 4 ) car stuck in park, unable to drive it. This happened on my job. I had to get it towed. I'm happy I was in a safe place. This is very serious, I could have been in an unsafe place and it could have happened at nite. This should be a recall, my friend has this same exact car and it happened to her, I would like Chrysler to repay the money that I must pay to get it repaired.
My wife drives a 2007 Chrysler Sebring and on may 25th 2010 when she got in her car to go home from work, she was unable to shift the car out of park. She immediately called me and I looked for information on the web and discovered this was sort of a common problem for Chrysler and it was due to a faulty or defective 'shift interlock control system'. On several forums I saw that several Sebrings, pt cruisers, and Chrysler 300s have had the same or similar issues. We called our local Chrysler/Dodge dealership, landmark Chrysler dodger in morrow, GA and the service center informed us that they see this issue "all the time" and it not only affects the vehicles mentioned above, but it also includes Dodge chargers as well. The went on to state that it would cost us approximately $350 to fix the issue. There is no way to disable the system and circuvent the cost of repair, our only option is to pay to have it fixed .
2007 Chrysler Sebring, this has been an ongoing problem that has resulted in numerous trips to the mechanic. I have a constant vibration while driving the vehicle from speeds around 50-70+ mph. Whatever the vibration is can be felt throughout the passenger compartment as if your sitting in a massage chair. This problem is also causing the brake rotors to warp and fail (safety safety) issue. I am on my fourth set of rotors, third set of brake pads, and third set of tires. In addition I have replaced the hub bearings as well. All by the recommendation of various mechanics. I am afraid that since most of my time in my vehicle is on the interstate that I will have a complete failure at high speeds. The Chrysler dealer doesn't care about the issue they only want you to keep coming back paying the outrageous labor rates. One repair shop all but told me to stop coming. This vehicle has a serious safety issue that needs to be addressed by Chrysler. This problem is on going and I have to deal with it everyday, cause no one can fix it. When the rotors warp the vehicle is hard to control while braking.
I have a 2007 Chrysler Sebring and the gear shifter stopped working. (shift assembly) the shifter will no longer shift out of park by just pressing the break. We tried to reset it but it would not work and also tried other options in the car manual and they didn't work. We took the cover off and tried to find the problem we found that the only way to move into gear is by pressing down the pink button on the left hand side in the downward position while pressing the break and it will go in and out of gear. Went to the Dodge dealership and they said this is not the first time they have seen this problem in this year model and make. The issue is about $300 to fix, we had this vehicle for less than a year before it happened and the car itself is in great condition. The issue is the shift assembly we have yet to get it fixed because the car was new and is obviously a defect from the manufacturer. The car showed no signs of anything wrong before it happened just went to start it and wouldn't move from the park position.
Car stalled for second time while in park. First at 34000 mi then again at 69000 mi. Have read all the blogs. . . To take apart console and perform surgery is ridiculous!.
