Takata recall, the tire pressure light has been on for some time now and as recently as last month my service engine light came on requiring me to change the crankshaft position sensor. Last week my stereo was shorted out and my cruise control no longer works and only my high beams are working. Today my car would not start and I took it to dealership because when I tried to start it the dash flashed as if it shorted out and come to find out my battery was dead drained for some reason. There has also been a couple occasions when my convertible top got stuck in open position and would not go down. I had to wait about 5 minutes before restarting car to get top to close all the way down. The car was parked when opening and closing top. The tire pressure icon is still showing on dash board.

When cruise control on, when you step on brake at stoplight, accelerates un- controllably. Must slam on brakes, shift to neutral, and turn ignition off. Then would accelerate again several times when trying to restart car. I think cruise control finally went off.

Vehicle shifts hard from drive to any gear, does not matter if it is taking off or stopping while hot or cold, while on highway at 50+ van will have a few seconds delay with accelerating to a higher speed, while on cruise control at 65 miles per hour when going up hill cruise will kick in and push the speed to 70+ from 60 mph,.

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph, the engine stalled. Driving south, from michigan, had driven approx. 600 miles of a 700+ mile trip, vehicle started "chugging" at 70mph on the highway, decelerating, unable accelerate, this was not in an area of differing elevations, it would almost stall then surge, then repeat. Cruise control was not being used at that time due to heavy traffic. Pulled the vehicle off the highway, into a store parking lot, shut it off for a few minutes, restarted and no further problems until today when driving for less than 15 minutes, on the highway at 60mpg, heavy traffic, it began again. Again, it was pulled over shut off and restarted with no further incidents today. You people need to do something to fix this. Someone is going to be fatally injured. I am not the only one experiencing this same issue.
My instrumental cluster lights went out so I can not see anything at night. My speed control/cruise control is no longer functioning.
My 2001 Chrysler Sebring convertible cruise control comes on uncommanded. The cruise control will come on at a stop, while at idle, and at all speeds.

On the date mentioned, I was driving an enterprise rental car, 2008 Chrysler Sebring lx, from idaho falls, id to salt lake city, ut. I was traveling appx. 73-75mph with the cruise control set for the last 50 miles. I was approaching asemi truck/trailer and tapped the brakes to disengage the cruise control. At that time the car started to accelerate, I tapped the brakes two more times to try to disengage the cc and the car just continued to accelerate. At this time I decided I need to take a more aggressive approach and started slamming on the brakes which caused me to lose control of the car and strike the rear end of the trailer. That caused me to spin out of control and enter into the center median of the I-15. I was able to get the car stopped after the wreck. For whatever reason, I couldn't get the cc to disengage and in fact the cc caused the vehicle to suddenly accelerate. I had no control of the speed of the car. The brakes were really not too effective in slowing the car while it was accelerating.
The dash, radio, & cd player lights flash off and on intermittently. This occurs on random occasions. It also happens when operating the turn signal. The lights will dim low and will not return to a "normal" brightness until you adjust the turn signal arm. Or the lights completely go off. Turn off the car and the displays will start up. The suspension problem is the noise of metal and banging in the suspension. The air bags, horn do not work as well as cruise control. The a/c fails to work most of the time.
2003 Chrysler Sebring. The car is a 4 cycle automatic with air conditioner and cruse control. While driving up a 6% grade, and when going down the hill transmission down shifted and the car accelerated 15-20 miles faster than what the cruise was set at. Called the manufacturer, and they stated that this was acceptable to them. The owner's manual states that certain conditions must be met for the cruise to function in a safe manner.

I own a 2003 Chrysler Sebring with 4 cylinder engine, automatic transmission and cruise control. I purchased the vehicle used in March of 2005 with about 29,000 miles on the odometer. It currently has 39,000 miles. On a trip through maryland and west virginia on August 4th,2005, I experienced a terrifying experience. With the cruise control set at 65 mph, I was traveling on the interstate down a 6 to 8 % grade. The car would down shift the transmission and accelerate. When the speedometer reached 75 mph, I shut off the cruise and the car would upshift back to high gear and with braking I was able to regain control of the speed of the car. I was able to duplicate this action with the car until I traveled on interstate roads with 3% grades or less, then the cruise works fine. I took the car to north east Dodge ,main street, north east,PA. 16428 on August 8th,2005 and explained the concerns about the cruise control. After conferring with Chrysler corporation,I was informed that there was nothing wrong with the car even though they were able to duplicate the problem. They stated that I should have read the owners manual which( I am paraphrasing here) states not to use the cruise control unless it is a sunny, dry day and the highway is flat. In other words,Chrysler says I should have read the owners manual before I bought the car and if I don't like the idea of the car going out of control down steep roads, then don't use the cruise control. Because Chrysler corporation puts a disclaimer in their owners manual about their selling the public an unsafe product should not absolve them of the responsibility of correcting it.
2003 chryser Sebring lxi ,4 door, v6 motor cruise controls shut down without warning. Causing a sudden deceleration in highway speed and nearly rearend collisions.
I have a 2001 Chrysler Sebring lx sedan. I have had problems in the beginning as far as the digital odometer skipping, and other electrical problems with it. I have called the dealership, and have had it in there for inspection, but they claimed they never found anything. The dealership also never told me about the recalls. I noticed several months ago that the cruise control was causing me to speed without control, so I turned it off and never used it again, thinking I would take it in when I was able, due to the fact that the dealership fluctuated back and forth whether I had 3-year/36k bumper-to-bumper, or 7-year/70k powertrain, although it was with my understanding that the salesman offered both of the warranties. Last week, my son was asking me about the cruise control and he turned it on. He experienced the lack of control with the speed. I told him to turn it off and never use it, and that I was going to have it looked at ASAP. The next evening, my son was driving the car, and he experienced lost of control with the accelerator. In a panic, he tried to pull the emergency brake, but ended up crashing into a guard rail. I have photos to prove that there were no tire marks of any kind at the scene: the policeman claimed that there were 90ft of tire marks, but they have no proof, and there were parents at the scene at that moment who are willing to testify that there were no marks at all. This proves to me that there was failure with the acceleration and/or brakes. This morning, I read in the paper that there was another Sebring involved in a crash in the middle of a st. Patrick's day parade, the cause was due to a faulty acceleration system.
The cruise control application does not consistently follow the comands as described on page 66 of the owners manual. (1) the cruise will not regularly set a desired speed, unless the cancel button is pressed following the on/off button. (2) after depressing the brake pedal to DE-activate a speed setting, the resume button ignors the prior setting speed and continues to accelerate. (3) while pressing and holding the set/coast button, the speed accelerates.
