Ignition Switch Problems of Chrysler Sebring

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 84,600.

The contact owns a 2000 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that while trying to start the vehicle, the key would not turn in the ignition switch. The contact has taken the vehicle to the dealer whenever the failure occurred sporadically for the last five years. The contact had not allowed the dealer to diagnose the failure with the ignition switch. The contact was using home remedies to diagnose the failure; however, it was unsuccessful. The contact stated this was a safety issue because the vehicle could leave him stranded on the road. The failure mileage was 40,000.

While driving 30 mph manual transmission went out of shift, and the ignition locked. Dealer stated they had done repairs under the recall, however the problem still exists.

Consumer complained about an ignition problem. In the last 4 years consumer replaced the key cylinder 4 times. Consumer contacted the manufacturer on seven different times, and was told that his customer care complaint file was closed. They will not help consumer.

I am the not soo happy owner of a 2000 Chrysler Sebring jxi convertible. The latest problem with this poor excuse for reliable transportation is that now none of the 3 keys that came with the car are able to turn the lock cylinder even when all other prerequisites are enabled. Aaa sent out a locksmith who provided me with a new key which must be used in conjuction with the origainal computer chip keys, but unfortunately this has not resolved the problem. The locksmith indicated to me that he is called out for this same problem for many Chrysler models and advised me to check for a mfg recall, which I have not been able to determine if there is one for this problem. He also indicated that the problem is because of a defect in the lock cylinder. I hope this helps you in your efforts. Thank you.

The key is stuck in the ignition which causes a no start. There is recall 98v183000. But this vehicle is not included in the recall due to VIN although it deals with the same problem. Dealer needs to replace ignition. Please provide further information.

There was noise in front end whenever turning steering wheel at any speed or no speed. This also caused vehicle to vibrate. Sounded like metal on metal. Also, when key is in ignition, it can not be removed as per recalls 97v201000/ 98v183000.

When attempting to remove the key from the ignition switch, the key is trapped in the ignition. Consumer, therefore, has to play with the key until noticing a clicking sound befor key is removed. Consumer also noted there is a recall due to the same problem, recall number 98v183000. Manufacture states vehicle not included. Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer replacing parts. Due to defective pcv valve vehicle stalled and almost caused an accident. Also problems with the boot for the convertible top and ignition. Cause unknown. Please provide further information.

While driving and putting vehicle in park, the key wouldn't come out of the ignition switch. Consumer had to play around with the ignition switch for about 30 minutes until the key came out.

The ignition had locked up, and the key wouldn't unlock the steering wheel. The dealer has been contacted. Ts the shifter was able to moved. Scc.

Key comes out in any gear. The dealer has been notified.
