Failure Date: 04/24/2019

Fuse box completely shorted out and there was a burning smell. Car stalls without warning in traffic and on the highway and will not start. The car will crank but won't start leaving the vehicle disabled in the middle of traffic. The vehicle also can be parked and not start. Cranks but won't start. It has happened on more than 4 occasions 1 of the times my children were in the car and we were on the freeway. Another time I was alone on the freeway and another time I was stopped at a stoplight and it died and would not start leaving me stranded in the middle of the road in rush hour traffic. All other times have been when the car was parked. The date below is the most recent incident.

When fueling gas comes spraying out when full.

14 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 03/02/2016

This car has a faulty totally integrated power module (tipm). This caused several problems including: the car stalling suddenly while driving at about 50 mph on a straight road, the horn going off intermittently and uncontrollably both while the vehicle was stationary and while it was moving, and a check engine light that would not clear. I replaced the faulty tipm at my own expense and it resolved all these problems. Chrysler has issued recalls for tipms, but they have never recalled the 2008 Sebring. I have the original, faulty tipm out of the Chrysler that I can send for testing and verification.

15 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 09/16/2015

Driving down a slight hill at 35mph using no throttle, the car stalled. No lights, no alarms. Realized it stalled when I had no power steering for corner. No power steering. No power brakes. Muscled car to stop safely, but if my 16yo daughter had been driving. . . . Very scary. Car has stalled once while idling at a stop and stuttered like it was going to stall at a red light twice since the initial stalling incident.

16 Other Fuel System problem of the 1996 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 08/03/2015

I took my car to get diagnostic for smog. The shop I took it to smog Smart explain they have dismateled my car claiming engine, coolant, and timing belt. They have removed parts and claim they contacted Chrysler and its company states its repairs is not worth the vehicle. The engine claim, the coolant claim and timing belt they have made against the manufacture. The engine checked fine before dropping the car off. The car would stop due to heating the fuel running since the car had been a non op for 3 years andreason for smog. The car was deliberatley dismanteled can I get its information of the claim the smog mart 7070stockton sacramento CA 95820 is making so I can settle with the sheriffs in there distruction of my proeprty without invoice signature to remove any partys on my car except ordered to run diagnositcis.

17 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 06/09/2015

Fuse 8 under hood, 20a fuse. Chrysler has a couple of branch circuits downstream of this and collectively an increased load condition causes an overload on startup only. Instant burn fuse cant cope. The problem is design, there are 4 circuits fed downstream on that fuse, if the collected load builds some resistance it will exceed the capacity of the fuse. I am currently changing the fuse daily just to start my car and go. And sometimes have to change it again before leaving my destination. I did some research online by resulting to google and there are countless other people with this same problem. I was told not to put a larger fuse in there for it may catch fire because of not allowing the fuse to blow when it needs to blow. It seems to be a problem with Chrysler set up and to be not actually anything broken with my car. What do I do?.

18 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 12/07/2014

When the outside temp is below 40 degrees and I fill my 2008 Sebring convertible with gas, gasoline gushes and blows out of my car filler tube all over the place. I have talked to the Chrysler dealer and they say there is no recall for this. However my 2008 Dodge nitro had the exact same problem and there was a recall to fix it. I have video of this happening.

19 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 11/01/2014

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Sebring conv. When the vehicle was refueled, the contact noticed an odor of fuel inside and outside of the vehicle. The failure recurred each time the vehicle was filled more than half way full. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000.

20 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 05/25/2014

Driving south, from michigan, had driven approx. 600 miles of a 700+ mile trip, vehicle started "chugging" at 70mph on the highway, decelerating, unable accelerate, this was not in an area of differing elevations, it would almost stall then surge, then repeat. Cruise control was not being used at that time due to heavy traffic. Pulled the vehicle off the highway, into a store parking lot, shut it off for a few minutes, restarted and no further problems until today when driving for less than 15 minutes, on the highway at 60mpg, heavy traffic, it began again. Again, it was pulled over shut off and restarted with no further incidents today. You people need to do something to fix this. Someone is going to be fatally injured. I am not the only one experiencing this same issue.

21 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 03/14/2014

I have a 2005 Chrysler Sebring that has "sudden acceleration" that happens without warning. On December 30th '13 shortly after I registered the car I was driving off an expressway ramp I felt the car accelerate on it's own - I couldn't stop it. I turned the wheel into a snow bank and shut the car off. The same day on the way home it happened again. I had someone drive it perhaps 50 miles and it didn't happen for him. I drove it a few more weeks, then on February 27, 2014 pulling into a parking space it happened again, I applied my brakes but it wouldn't stop and the snow bank stopped us from going over an embankment. I removed my foot from the brake pedal and the engine continued to race with the wheels still spinning up against the snow bank I then shut the car off. The brakes just won't stop it there is never enough time to put it in neutral. Finally on March 18, 2014 I pulled slowly into a parking spot and the engine revved up so loudly and crossed over a center strip and through bushes into the back of a parked car with no one in it. I have not used the car since this accident. Fortunately my husband was with me each time and we know I handled the situation properly . I am a good driver with no accidents or tickets in over 40 years. Every day I drive either a handicap van or a three quarter ton crew cab pickup, I've never had problems before this car. I also have a surcharge on my auto insurance for the next few years. I contacted Chrysler and they had someone look at it. I had the car towed to and from the Chrysler dealership. The engineer said, he drove it seven miles (big deal perhaps he should have parked it a few times). I received a letter saying (see below) that the car was okay. That was it! no satisfaction at all. In the meantime we have found on the internet other people are having the same problem.

22 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 01/21/2014

My car both in both park/drive will sporadically jump in rpm's for no reason. This has happened on 40+ occasions in which the vehicle will rev from 600 rpm's up over 3500 rpm's within a second. I called Chrysler and Chrysler stated that they have not have any reports from other vehicles and gave me no solutions to this problem. My check engine light is not on. I mentioned to Chrysler that I am afraid that my car is going to one day rev while I am driving and I will not be able to control it. I am afraid that I am going to either injure myself, passengers, other motorist and/or pedestrians. I have been at many stop lights and stop signs where it has revved and moved forward even with my foot firmly on the brake. I want to report this in case something happens, I do not want to be liable for the cars actions since Chrysler does not seem to want to take my issue seriously.

23 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 11/28/2012

After accelerating from a stop at a traffic light, the car accelerator or throttle began to stick and accelerate intensely, going up to 80mph with the brake engaged. I pulled off the main road, continuing to brake as hard as I could until I was able to safely shut down the car. I had no control over the car and narrowly avoided a serious accident. Prior to this incident, my car has had every service recommended by the manufacturer manual.

24 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 07/16/2012

I lost power to my speed, my brakes failed. I was able to stop the car with my emergency brake. Once stopped I turned off my vehicle. Once I restarted the vehicle, the light did not come on however I still did not have the speed. My transmission would not shift from 3rd to overdrive. It would stay at 3000 rpm at 55 mph. My car normally runs @ 2500rpm or less up to 60mph. I do not know what I need to deo to have this issue resolved. This is my second time experiencing this with this vehicle. I also have a 2009 Chrysler pt cruiser and owned a 2006 Chrysler Sebring and never have experienced this.

25 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 06/18/2011

In August 2010, I bought a 2008 Chrysler Sebring with only 25,000 miles. Now with only 32,000 miles - the throttle part has to be replaced because of stalling and also the computer system has to be replaced. I have read the complaints that the throttle can malfunction and speed up the vehicle! and I have read the complaints that the throttle can stall out the vehicle. Why hasn't the throttle part (code p2107) been recalled? I was told that the throttle part is only guaranteed for 1 year. This should be a manufacture defect and Chrysler is putting defective throttles on this model of Sebring and not taking responsiblity for this defect. How many others have had this problem? why doesn't Chrysler have a warranty in effect for this problem before more drivers get killed or injured? please respond.

26 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 01/14/2009

I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring. The car will start at times fine with no problem, but sometimes it will start and than turn off immediately. This problem has happened more than once. The car will also sometimes not even turn on at all.

27 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 12/01/2008

Anytime is rains car seems to not be able to accelerate and wants to stall from a stop or low rpm's, especially at turns and stop signals and stop lights, had car looked at and was unable to fix problem.

28 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 02/01/2006

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle in wet and humid conditions the electronic throttle sensor light would illuminate and the vehicles speed would suddenly reduce to approximately 20 mph and the brakes and power steering would malfunction. In addition the engine would erroneously rev very high and the accelerator pedal would loose tension and could be pushed to the floor. The vehicle was taken to several local dealers(unknown) who were unable to duplicate the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition when refueling in colder weather conditions the fuel would spray out of the filler hole. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 10,000. Jft.

29 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 10/28/2004

My car, 2004 Sebring sedan with 19,000 has had a surging problem for several months. As I,m coming to a stop, with my foot on the brake, the car will surge forward as if I was giving it gas. On 10/28/04, I've had the car examined coon rapids Chrysler dealership mechanics and was told they found nothing wrong with it outside of misfires in three cylinders. They said they road tested the car and did not experience what I experience every day during every stop. I was told they reset the pcm as this is what manufacturer recomends. When I left the dealership, I experienced the same surging from the very first stop and all the other stops during the fifteen mile drive home. Nextweek I'll take it to another dealer and see if they can fix this. I've noticed that mycarstats. Com has numerous complaints regarding this problem and the dealers/manufacturer appears to not dealing with it. I've come very close to rear-ending cars during my travels. I expect the surge and prepare for it but there has to be a fix.
