The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that there were strong fumes of fuel coming from outside the vehicle and a puddle underneath the vehicle. The contact was unable to determine where the fluid originated. An independent mechanic inspected the fuel tank, which was removed, and determined that there was a fire near where the return line entered into the fuel tank. The components were internally burned and needed to be replaced. The mechanic replaced the fuel tank assembly. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 04v313000 (fuel system, gasoline) and 03v443000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 91,000.

Anytime I get gas, the auto shut off is delayed and my gas tank gets overfilled which results in gasoline flying out of the gas tank and squirting everywhere. This happens every single time I get gas, even if I try to control the gas flow to be very slow.
When gas tank becomes filled gas come projecting out of gas tank fuel neck , about a half gallon of gas came out of neck twice so far , I did some research and see that some Dodge durango's and Jeep's where recalled for this , all Chrysler products , my compliant is very silimiar issue as NHTSA complaint # 10511046. This is my daughters car and is ver very dangerous , someone could easily get killed , or seriously injured , blined by getting gas in there eyes or ???? need to get csr fixed ASAP Chrysler telling me they are not responsible , well here is my compliant , it is now documented , anyone gets hurt or killed becasue of this it is on your shoulders. You have a second compliant which to me is two too many . .
