The contact owns a 2002 Chrysler Sebring convertible. The vehicle was parked when the contact noticed that the tires were partially deflated. The contact added air to the tires but found that the tires were exhibiting a slow leak. The tires were replaced three times but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop where the contact was advised that the rims of the vehicle had become pitted over time and was allowing air to leak. The mechanic also advised replacing the rims. The rims were not replaced and the failure persisted. The failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 125,000.

Since I have purchase my new car, 2002 Chrysler Sebring, keeping the tires inflated have been a problem. At first I thought it was the tires. The car has been serviced by goodyear and the car still has problems holding air in the tires. Later I changed tire manufacturers and had firestone tires put on. The tires still need air put in them every 2-3 days. Firestone has serviced the leak on several occasions. We tried putting tubes in the tires and I have gone through 3 tubes in two weeks. There is a defect in the rims stocked from Chrysler. It is not a tire problem. These aluminum rims are not covered under standard or extended warranty. Firestone mentioned that they have a Chrysler 300m with the same problem as mine. The tires won't seal on the rims. I have heard of other Chryslers with the same problem and would like to launch a formal complaint to have this looked into. It is not safe to drive the car with this problem (low tire pressure and flat tires). Last night I walked to the dark parking lot after work to find another flat tire on my car again. Please help make Chrysler own fixing this problem.
For some time now I have been forced to replace all my tires once, and bring my car into ntb multiple times regarding my tires going flat despite that the car could sit in my garage all week, after speaking with ntb they said they deal with these things all the time, a Chrysler pulls in and he can tell you exactly what is wrong with it. The wheel rim on the chrome ones, are corroding causing a rim leak, this causes many uninformed customers to go out and buy brand new tires when this is not necessary, it also forces customers to waste time either by having their car checked out every month b. C of these leaks or make them stop at a gas station and fill their tires up with air like I do. I please ask you all who read this to write to Chrysler to explain to them this poor performance, I have read others complaints which could lead to blow outs, as far as I last checked this is a major safety issue that needs to be addressed and addressed now! chrylser get off your lazy butts and do something before someone gets hurt or worse killed, and if that happens I hope they sue your company to bankruptcy and I'll be happy buying foreign.
Chrome on rims of 2002 Sebring are flaking off. I have had 6 flat tires in the 14 months I own the car. I put air in the tires 2x week. Rims have been cleaned by a tire shop, but he said the corrosion of the wheels are making the tires leak because they do not hold a seal. Each time I have the car serviced (every 3k miles) I complain that the tires leak. Dealer service dept does not find anything wrong with wheels, puts air in the tires. Car has a full size spare with same rims. When I needed to fix one of the flats and put the spare tire on,the spare was also flat. . It had been returned to the trunk after being repaired 6 months earlier, but it had also been on the car, became flat, was replaced by the spare, that was now flat again.
Chrome wheel rims provided on this vehicle are badly corroded which causes the tires to loose air pressure. I have taken this car to several tire shops and there is nothing that can be done to correct this issue. Apparently, chrome is notorious for having this problem. I have to use air every other day to maintain a safe air pressure on these tires. This problem has been going on for 18 months.

I happily bought a new Sebring convertible in July 2002. I bought the "complete" 7/70 extended warranty because I am a single woman and do not want to worry about repairs. During 2003 and 2004, I experienced frequent "soft" tires. During a rain storm, I hydroplaned on highway 41 and lost control. Luckily, there was no damage to anyone or the car. Only my nerves. I would test and fill the tires frequently. I was frightened to drive during rain/snow because I did not feel control due to the tires not gripping the highway. I was told I needed new tires and that they were not covered under warranty. I bought new tires in Dec. 2005 at sears, had the alignment performed. I continued to have soft tires. Sears replaced the tire valves, and had to smooth the rims twice. I now have to check and fill the tires with air 2 - 3 times a week. I spoke to the local dealer and was told "this is a frequent complaint of the Sebring convertible rims)and was told to call Chrysler. After being on hold 30 minutes, I got through to Chrysler, and was told that although Chrysler recognizes this deficiency in the rims, they will not cover this because I did not report the problem within the warranty period. How was I supposed to know that the problem was with the rims and not the tires? I was told it was the tires!!! please check the accident record of Chrysler Sebrings due to loss of control.
I am having problems with my tires. They keep leaking and lug nuts won't tighten. I've been told by two garages that my rims are defective and of poor quality. Rims are oxidated and corroded on my 2002 Chrysler Sebring. I've been told that driving this car is dangerous.
The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Sebring coupe. While driving 15 mph, the contact heard a thumping noise in the vehicle. The dealer stated that there was a bubble inside the two passenger side tires and driver side rear tire. The dealer stated that the failure was caused by the rim and not a defect. The tires were replaced two times. The VIN, engine size, and number of cylinders were unknown. The failure mileage was 22,000 and current mileage was 60,000. Updated 02-04-08. The consumer stated failure after 60,000 miles once replaced. Updated 02/04/08.

For the past several months , my tires have been losing air- I thought that perhaps this was caused by the extreme temperatures. I continued to make sure my tires were at the correct level. Three weeks ago, I had a blow-out while traveling home from atlantic city, NJ. . The tire was replaced the next day. . . A few days later, the new tire, as well as the others, continued to lose air. . I brought back to the service station and was told I would now need another tire. All tires continued to lose air- I brought to the service station again and it was discovered that all my rims are cracking and the sharp edges are cutting into the stem valves and causing my tires to go flat. I have now had to replace 2 tires that should have lasted me quite a bit longer and this problem will continue to occur as long as my rims are in the condition they are. I was told that it was inadvisable to go anywhere long distance until this problem is resolved. I have made an appointment today at the dealership for them to inspect and hopefully work with me on this defective issue. I have also contacted chysler's customer service center and reported to them this safe issue. Please document and contact me with any further information. Thank you-jo ann worbetz.
The chrome wheels on my car are flaking apart. A technician at the store where I recently purchased tires indicates that the wheels no longer are safe.

: the contact stated all 4 rims on the vehicle are corroding. The aluminum is shredding off the rims, which is causing the tires to loose air pressure. The left rear tire seal will not hold air at all. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. A representative from the manufacturer inspected the rims and agreed the rims were corroding and would replace only 2 of the rims however repairs were not made. The vehicle is not being driven.
My front passenger tire was low and would not keep air. My tires are original to the car. I thought that I just had a slow leak. Took the car to repair shop to have tire checked out. Was told by technician at repair shop that the chrome is severely peeling off the rim causing bead not to seal. The technician said he has never seen anything like it and that my wheel looked like it was ten years old already. Was informed by them that the chrome continually flakes off and doesn't allow the bead to seal to the rim. They noted this problem on my invoice.
The chrome covering on all four wheels of our 2002 Chrysler Sebring 2 dr. Lxi is peeling exposing the wheels to road salt and chemicals and allowing water to collect on the untreated surfaces eventually leading to rusting and wheel failure. The peeling was first noticed on may 31, 2005 and was reporting to the Chrysler dealer on June 2, 2005.

The consumer states that at approximately six or seven weeks ago he noticed air leaking from a tire after checking the tire with a gauge. The consumer took the tire to a tire repair company, and was told that there was a problem with the aluminum rim. They stated that the chrome flakes off and doesn't allow the bead to seal to the rim. This is the original tire for the vehicle. The tire is located on the front passenger side.
Owner was changing tire and cut hand on rim. Owner found chrome plating peeling away from the back of all four rims upon further inspection. Pieces are metal chards >2 inches which are peeling away around weld of spoke (backside of rim). Could cut or injure a person or cause tires to puncture if metal fragments were to break off during travel. Vehicle was taken to dealer (laflam Chrysler, runnemede NJ) where dealer stated that rims were "cosmetic" and not covered under warrantees. Chrysler service line was contacted same day (file#129-7146). Dealership denied inquiry about rims and then claimed that they felt it was cosmetic also. Owner feels there is a huge safety risk and is very concerned at changeing tires and what may happen while driving. Manufacturer has stated that there is "nothing you can do about it". The owner has a cut on his finger to prove this is not cosmetic.
Rims on 2000 Sebring lxi overly prone to damage from common road problems. In the past 4 years, I have had to replace all 4 rims - damage occured following hitting pot hole that should not have destoyed the rims.
The vehicle's rear tire rims cracked and as a result the tires air pressure was lost . Please provide any additional information.
On December 18,2003 , one the wheels (rims) on my wife's car bent and caused the tire to deflate very repidly and almost caused her to loose control and cause an accident. In 2002 the same thing had happened with another of the wheels. The car had to be towed after the 2003 incident. While having the wheel replaced
it was found out that two other wheels were bend and in need of replacement. My wife found out from other customers at the tire place that several other people had the same bad experience with the same type Sebring. I called chrsyler
and they insisted they had never had similar complaints, but I know of an individual
who was compensated for his wheels. My complaint is so that it may be noted that there is a problem with the wheels on 1999 Sebrings. I found out that there was a problem in the metal alloy used in the manufacture of the wheels.

Please add VIN# to complaint I filed earlier. I would appreciate a reply from you. This is a serious safety issue, and it's only a matter of time before someone has a blowout and a major wreck. Chrysler needs to recall these wheels, and I believe they know it but are ignoring the customers.
Wheels on this car are too soft and bend easily. When bent badly enough, they lose the seal on the tire and cause a blowout. So far I've had 9 wheels fail, with one blowout, 5 flat tires. My tire dealer tells me this is the #1 replaced wheel in the nation, with #2 very far behind. Chrysler and their dealer both refuse any assistance.
The rims bent under normal driving conditions resulting in deflated tires. The tire blowout occurred on one occasion while driving at highway speed.

The dealer changed the front tires twice due to a bent rim. Tires lost pressure every week.
Consumer states that while driving and no warning the rim is cutting the tire causing the tire to lose air and the consumer is force to pull over. Dealer notified. Mr.

The rims on my 1999 Chrysler Sebring bend very easy. I have had 2 blowouts and 5 flat tires because of this. Before this car I never have had any blowouts. The rims are defective is what a mechanic said about these.
All four rims are bent due to running over bumps. Dealer / manufacturer were not notified at this time.
Consumer states that the defective bent rims caused a total of three tire blowouts between the months of September 2001 and January 2002.
All four rims are causing the tires to lose air pressure. Consumer had to replace air in right front tire every morning, left front tire once a week, and both rear tires every 3-4 weeks. Dealer was notified.
Rims on vehicle bent very easily. When rims bent, it caused bead between rim and tire to separate/ tires started to lose air, and go flat. When contacting dealer, dealer melted and reshaped rims, including two that where melted and reshaped. Please provide any further information.
Was having tires rotated when mechanic noticed left front rims were bent. Was informed not to drive vehicle, and have rims replaced. A few months later, had noticed rear rims were bent like front rims had been.
In 2. 5 yrs I have had 5 rims bend resulting in blown tires. Very poor design. Chrysler needs to handle this before somone gets hurt or dies!!! and it is very expensive!!! (tiresize: p215/50r17)( dot number: tire size: p215/50r17 ).
I have had 4 flat tires since I purchase the vehicle less than a year ago. At first I thought it was the tires, but after the fourth flat, and seeing other complaints on this website, I realized it was the car. The rims bend, releasing air and the tires go flat. Then the rim wrecks the tire, and bends further. Essentially, it is a car that can't even be driven. The previous owner had to also replace all 4 tires but didn't tell me until later, and sold the car to me with only 10,000 miles on it. At $200 a peice, it really adds up. I have contacted Chrysler and they continue to drag their feet. I feel these cars should be re-called, especially after hearing the numerous complaints from other Sebring owners having the same problems. (tiresize: 2155017)( dot number: tire size: 2155017 ).
The wheel rim does not have a good seal causing the tires to leak air, the rear drivers tire experienced a blowout. Nlm.
Rim on the rear passenger side has a groove on the inside which causes tire not to create a seal, resulting in slow leak in the tire. This caused tire to rub against rim. Dealership gave owner a new rim, but could not replace the tire. Goodyear would not replace the tire.
All four wheel rims bent, causing steering problems which may result in loss of control. Dealer said consumer needed to replace all the rims. Previously, replaced front brake rotors . Please provide further information.
Wheel rims leak air, cousing tires to go flat.
