Wiring problems of the 1997 Chrysler Town & Country

Four problems related to wiring have been reported for the 1997 Chrysler Town & Country. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2009

The contact owns a 1997 Chrysler town and country. After starting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the instrument panel no longer functioned. The failure continued to occur. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 163,000. The current mileage was approximately 164,000. Updated 9/1/10 the consumer stated the problem was due to a bad connection at the end of the wiring harness. Updated 09/14/jb.

2 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2005

The clockspring connector has failed on my 97 Chrysler minivan. The airbag light stays on, the horn does not work and cruise control does not work. I understand this is a defective part with over 125,000 replacement items sold and a $250 repair. Chrysler should cover the cost of this repair.

3 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 03/22/1998

Electrical wiring failure caused vehicle fire.

4 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 10/27/1996

Bundle of wire under hood fell due to not being clamped, serpentine belt wore through casing on wire bundle, splitting cam sensor wire.
