Horn Assembly problems of the 2000 Chrysler Town & Country

1 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2016

The contact owns a 2000 Chrysler town and country. After the vehicle was started, the horn failed to operate and the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the clock spring assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 04v480000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.

2 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2012

Air bag warning light began flashing in January 2012; cruise control & stereo controls on steering wheel quit working in June 2012; horn quit working in July 2012. Read about recall on 1994 - 2000 models for faulty clockspring.

3 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2007

Short in the horn switch causes the horn to sound erratically and without warning. The temporary solution is to pull the fuse, thereby overiding the safety device. The permanent solution is to have the switch replaced, which we are told also requires the driver's airbag to be replaced at a cost of over $800. 00.

4 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2000

The horn became inoperative at 3,ooo mile due to a defective horn assembly. Please provide further information.
