Three problems related to brake abs warning light have been reported for the 2001 Chrysler Town & Country. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Changed brakes, rotors and calipers but after a couple of miles brakes get stuck, abs light is on constantly and now burnt rubber smell from front wheel. We have had this issue before.
Washer and nut came off the front wheel while consumer was going 15mph. Abs light came on as a warning, and vehicle made a grinding noise. Consumer got home, and found caliper was the only thing holding the wheel. Pin was not put in during manufacturing. Consumer states a flat washer and flat nut (not a lock nut) were used, also there is not a crown nut, nor a cotter pin installed. Dealer stated the bearing had come loose from the hub and failed, probably due to insufficient torque on the flat washer and nut.
Abs warning light remains engaged. Dealer does not know what the problem is. Initially, they said brakes system was failing, then they said brakes were ok, but warning light needs to be reset. Brought the vehicles in twice but still dealer (hopefully, with Chrysler's help) unable to resolve the problem. We are still using the vehicle but are not sure if this is a safety issue or not.
