Failure Date: 05/15/2019

My car ran fine and had no problems. One foggy morning however, I was driving and stopped at a stop light. While pressing the brake, the engine suddenly revved up. The car lurched me toward the stop light. I took it to the dealer, but he didn't find any problem. This happened again one rainy day. The engine started revving. The car lurched me toward while I pressed the brake. And now its been doing it for a few month.

When the weather is very cold and you open the back trap door it will close on you you have to get out of the way. Two or three times that door almost closed me in. It was not stopping that could really hurt someone.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2016

My van dies on me while driving after I fill up with gas. Does it every time now. I pull out of the gas station and am in the street and it dies, I restart it after a minute but as I travel further into traffic and slow down behind another car or a light it dies again. It seems to be getting worse each time. I read other complaints for the same thing and that it was a bad part so I called customer service. They said tough, the factory warranty was up. When I asked further they hung up on me. I live on a very windy and hilly road with zero shoulder, just a mild to steep drop off into trees. If I stall in the middle of this road, no oncoming car will see me in time to stop and they can't go onto a non-existant shoulder. It will be worse when snow and ice come. I have kids and no extra car to use. If this is a because of a faulty part shouldn't they fix it or recall it? I am clearly not the only one with this problem. There are tons of people complaining of the exact same thing with the same van. What can I do? on the date below where it asks when did this happen I am putting the last time it happened since I can't put a range of dates.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2016

I had a flat on my Mini van. While trying to lower the spare tire I found it stuck in place. The safety catch will not release and it is impossible to access the spare without compromising your personal safety by crawling under the van. If this had been my wife and had I not been at home when I found the flat this could have turned into a life threatining ordeal. Why isn't anyone address in this well known issue.

After filling up the gas tank with gas, I drive away from the gas station and the van stalls. This has happened on a 2 lane divided highway in which I was almost killed! can someone please look into this situation.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2014

I was informed today by the mechanic at monroe muffler that the frame was rusted so badly that he was able to put his fingers through the frame. There are actually large holes through the frame. The mechanic showed me the holes on the frame (rear right side). The left rear frame was nearly as bad. When Toyota had a frame rust/rot issue on the tacoma and the tundra, Toyota either replaced the frame or bought back the vehicle at 1 1/2 times the kbb retail value in excellent condition. I was planning on driving this another few years, however it won't pass nys inspection with the frame rust through. What is chrylser going to do about this?.

9 Equipment problem

My 2005 Chrysler town/country came to a complete stop on a residential street after my hand/purse ran into the key in the ignition. I coasted to a stop. Luckily, since it was on a side street with no one behind me I was able to remain calm, put it into park and started the vehicle back up with no problem. There has not been a problem since then. I have made sure to lighten the load on my keychain, only having 2 keys and nothing else. I can not imagine what would have happened had I been on the freeway going 70 mph!!! that is why I am submitting this complaint. The key surely should have a safety feature built into it that would not allow it to turn the vehicle off while it is being driven and in gear (drive). A simple bump should not make that key move into a non-driveable position. I think a defect like this could indeed cause a fatal crash and needs to be fixed. My dealership assures me all my recalls are up to date.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2014

I was driving when vehicle suddenly shut down completely. I had no power whatsoever. Was unable to steer or brake the vehicle. The van rolled through a stop sign and stop light before stopping completely. It was about ten minutes before I could start it up again. Now I do not trust the vehicle. I am afraid of driving the vehicle. Feel like I had a brush with death. Prior to this incident, about two weeks beforehand, all lights on the vehicle stopping working while I was driving at night. I purchased new bulbs to replace the headlights but suddenly all of the lights started to work again.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2014

Power locks on the back sliding doors do not work. This is a big safety concern. I have to pull the lock up very hard from one side as I pull on the handle on the other side. This is happening on both doors of the vehicle. If their was an accident or fire it would be very hard to get my child out of the back seat. I am asking for a recall. I was looking this problem up online and their are pages of complaints and forums of people with the same issue.

Rear a/c evaporator leak on two Chryslers that I own. 2005 Chrysler town and country & 2005 Dodge grand caravan. Chrysler extended the warranty for these part in all 2006 and 2007 minivans. They should have included 2005 in the recall.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2010

After about five years, the driver side mirror has slowly deteriorated. It has turned brown, reflects double objects, and extremely poor visibility. This is a safety issue that the dealer will not pay for. We would like a new mirror.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2010

Initially, the passenger airbag warning light would come on intermittently after vehicle was started and running for a period of time, and it may turn on and off several times during vehicle use. After vehicle parked and restarted (usually next day), without any apparent reason the warning light would then work correctly (I. E. , during engine start and system checks, warning lights would extinguish). After a few months, the drivers side airbag warning light also started to mimic the same issue (initially less frequent). We contacted dealership to ask about possible recall or issue. They inspected it as part of service/warranty appt, no problems reported to be found. We did ask if they knew of similar issues, but they indicated no. We contacted Chrysler (extended warranty) and they also said no known issues, it was not a warranty issue, and asked if problem possibly related to any accident (but it has not been in any accident). This issue has become more troublesome as the warning lights now activate much more frequently, and then stay active most or entire time vehicle is on and even continue to light up after vehicle parked overnight. Warning lights may then turn off for few days, but will invariably light up for no apparant reason.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2007

In March/Apr 2007 we noticed a white stain that has appeared on the floor by the navigator seat. We assumed we spilled something and we cleaned it up with a household carpet cleaner. A few weeks later the stain has appeared again. We removed the floor mat in the area to find out that the stain extended now significantly. We cleaned it out again and monitored it. Upon closer monitoring, we observed that the area kept getting wet when the ac unit was on. After removing the soggy carpeting and keeping the engine on with the ac on during a humid day, it was evident that the condensed water was leaking inside the vehicle causing the carpet to mold. We drove our kids around in a moldy car for 4 months now. We did not know it was mold until closer inspection. The youngest had a continuous congestion during this period that we blamed on the daycare. Unfortunately he was the only one getting continuously congested. Once we noticed it was actually mold, we put a towel over the area (with the carpet removed). Every night we would leave the van with doors and windows open and attempt to dry as best as we could the area. After taking the vehicle to the mechanic, they informed us that it is an expensive repair and they advised us to contact daimlerchrysler. We contacted daimlerchrysler (ref 16513172) about having the issue fixed under the warranty. We exceeded the 36,000 warranty mileage by 1,280 miles. Even though we explained that it takes time for mold to develop in order to notice the issue, daimlerchrysler refused to help us. We plan on taking the vehicle to a dealer and having it resolved, but meanwhile we would like to let other people know of our issue. Also, the vehicle has already had 2 recalls and one major repair. In 2 years of ownership this would be our 4th major repair for a vehicle that is only 2 years old and has only 37280 miles on it.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2005

On multiple occasions when I owned this vehicle, when driving highway speeds over 65 mph the car suddenly lost all power when I hit a bump in the road complete with loss of power steering. Although I was not in an accident, there were many close calls including almost being hit from behind by a tractor trailer. Shaken, I called the car agency every time I had an experience and brought the vehicle in after each incident both in NJ and in south carolina. On every occasion, I was told there was nothing wrong with the car and no error codes were produced from the computer. I questioned whether there were any recalls or bulletins, and demanded that a Chrysler rep. Review the complaints, to no avail. I have since traded in the vehicle for a kia but feel compelled to report this after reading reports about this for cars 2007-2009. This problem extends further back than being reported.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2004

The consumer noticed that the park sense (tm) rear back-up system was inoperative. The system did not indicate when the vehicle was in reverse. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. Consumer purchased the vehicle because it had an ultrasonic rear park assist system whose purpose was to give a warning when vehicle was close to an object while backing. Evidently, the warning system did not work . Consumer wants vehicle to be recalled. Manufacture responded by stating that there was nothing they would do; that this condition is a design issue not a defect.
