1 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2020

2 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2020

Multiple times the van will intermittently stall while driving down the road or stopped in traffic. First the dash lights flicker, speedometer and rpm gages go to 0, and warning lights such as esp, traction, abs, airbag, battery etc flicker on and off and occasionally hear almost a spark through radio speakers, then everything shuts off, both electrical and mechanically. When that happens I lose power steering and cannot get my hazards or brake lights to work. One time I could barely press the brake pedal, or steer and it was at night which means the vehicle was completely dark with no kinds of lights at an intersection with my 2 children and myself inside. So very scary! it gives me the worst anxiety to drive it and I'm too scared to sell it as I feel I would be knowingly selling a very unsafe vehicle. Occasionally the sliding side doors do not operate properly. First time the other night while the van was parked I hit the automatic shut button for the sliding door and lost all power to the vehicle and then it popped back in and operated fine. I have had multiple mechanics look at it and nobody can figure it out. Bought the van used in March or April of 2020 and had issues starting just 2 weeks after purchase. The van is now at around 108000 miles. I am out of money, a vehicle and options. Please help from a very scared and desperate mother who otherwise loves her minivan!.

6 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

While driving the van the windshield wipers came on, instrument panel lights began to flash, doors locked and unlocked and the engine lost power. The alarm system went off and could not be turned off. This has happened several times when driving and all the power is lost to the power steering, engine and lights. It is a very dangerous situation as it can happen on the freeway as well as on a city street. We have been stranded so many times and have fears to drive this van anywhere! we were stranded in seattle on a city street and had to wait two hours for a tow truck to tow it to the nearest dealer there. When it arrived at the dealer it was late afternoon and the mechanic agreed that the systems were not 'communicating' with each other but he would check it out in the morning. . . By the morning, the van was not doing it's craziness and the mechanic said he could find nothing wrong with it! we have had the local dealer check it out and they cannot seem to find the problem, but obviously there is a problem. Why can't Chrysler figure this out? it is dangerous and scary and our beloved van is no longer reliable transportation for our family. Nhtsa. . . . There have been so many complaints about this problem. . . It needs to be addressed and, yes, it is a safety issue, big time! we need your help to get Chrysler to figure out what is going on with these vans. It is as if they are 'possessed by the devil' help us please! what else can we do?.

7 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2018

My wife was driving on two different occasions and the van stalled, completely powered off. All electrical systems suddenly started acting in very abnormal ways. The wipers turned on as well as sprayed. The horn started going off, the locks on the doors gut stuck. All warning lights on the dashboard turned on. The ac quit working. The biggest problem is the two occasions the van just quit working going 40 to 60mph and the brakes and power steering not responding. This I think is major safety issues because my two little kids were with her in the van.

8 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2018

On 6/25, while driving down the highway I experienced some type of a power surge. The car started bucking, the a/c went off the horn started going off, the wipers started going off, the engine started revving. I was able to get off the parkway and pull into a parking lot. The things kept on happening until I turned the vehicle off. I tried to restart the vehicle, but it seemed like the vehicle was dead. Nothing worked. I had to have the vehicle towed to my house. On 6/27 I tried to start the vehicle and it srarted right up. I turned it off and tried to restart it, but again everything was dead. On 6/30 without doing anything the lights in the vehicle started flashing, the rear windshield washer started squirted washer fluid until it was empty, but the washer motor kept on operating. This lasted for about 20 minutes until it finally stopped. I attemptd to start the vehicle, but once again everything was dead. I was actually afraid while I was driving the vehicle, because of all the safety implications. When is a safety recall going to be issued? these problems could have deadly results.

9 Exterior Lighting problem

11 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

Windshield wipers, horn, washer fluid, and lights inside and outside of vehicle randomly go off and wont stop unless the battery is disconnected. This will also cause the car to start on its own and wont turn off if already running. Took to a mechanic and they said it was the clock spring but it only lasted for a couple of months and is now doing the same thing. Check engine light came on and is showing again a problem with the ecm. I have looked online and there are hundreds of other people reporting the same problem with no explanation from Chrysler and no recall issued.

13 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2015

The van passenger side door keeps opening and closing all by itself. The lights flash, then it unlocks itself and opens and closes over and over. The key fob will not do anything except open the passenger door, it doesn't matter what button you push. The door just keeps doing it and it can go on for up to an hour. We now have to disconnect the battery when we go somewhere otherwise we come back to an unlocked vehicle and an open door. The flasher also go off when this happens, it does it randomly so you never know what to expect. I have talked to some friends who are having the same problems. I think it is some kind of defect that the company should take care of.

14 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2014

While driving our van's horn began to go on and off by itself, the wiper blades began to run, and worst of all the dash was blinking on and off. This was a scary situation to be in on the road with my kids. It was very hard to concentrate and frustrating with no answers given.

15 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2014

My wife went to the car to unlock it the horn began blaring, locks going up and down, lights flashing, wiper fluid spraying everywhere, and the car actually started up w/o the key in the ignition and we do not have a remote starter on the vehicle. I arrived and removed the battery cable and it all stopped. After a few minutes I replaced the cable and was able to start the vehicle without incident. I was driving it home at approximately 65 mph and the vehicle suddenly started doing the same thing but the car cut off and I lost all steering and braking ability but was able to coast to the side parkway I was on. I removed the cable and replaced it and drove home without incident took the key out but the van would not shut off. One night of the issue we were awakened by the vehicles horn and when I went outside it was doing the same thing and the car was running in the driveway. She refuses to drive it and now we are stuck with a useless vehicle sitting in the driveway. . Fed up with this situation there needs to be someone held accountable, dealership was no help at all!! " they say the don't know what the problem is how can that be !?????? seeing that there are thousands of van owners like me with the same problem!!!!!.

16 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

While driving I had all computer screens shut down on me, meaning going blank. My radio turned off , the dvd player shut off, as well as my driver panel lights. This is the first time it has shut off on me, usually when I turn on the van either those functions work or they don't work. I also have issues with the tps, abs, lights flashing at me including the engine light. It randomally will come on and randomally go off. Chysler told me for $3,000-$4,000 I can have the van rewired and have no van for about a month. I can not and will not afford this. I have summited other complaints about this van including the module recall. I don't know what to do this van is a safety hazard and a money pit.

17 Exterior Lighting problem

18 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2013

Vehicle is having electrical problems. These electrical problems are causing the vehicle to shut off while operating, lights to turn on and off, horn to sound and windshield wipers and washers to operate randomly. This vehicle was purchased new from the dealer and had a similar problem when new. It was repaired and now is doing it again only more severely. There are many reports of similar problems with this vehicle experiencing this problem. In some cases the cruise control starts operating on its own and accelerating. This needs to be a recall.

19 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

Purchased a used 2008 Chrysler t&c. Drove have had intermittent electrical issues in the past year (approx. 12 times) different electrical items would malfunction. Radio would not turn up or down but come on at a loud volume and stay there. Cabin lights would not work then work than not. Brought it to the dealership where they could not tell us what was wrong. Clock was not working for a while. Middle of the night the alarm, lights, and doors would open randomly. Returned to the vehicle with door open when no one had been in the rear of the vehicle. Brought it to an electrical specialist who could not diagnose. Replaced the battery and tested the alternator. Was not either as the problems persist. Replaced the 6 mos. Old battery on Thursday and it was dead by Sunday. Brought it to the garage but no one can tell us why currently we have no horn or steering wheel controls as well as all cabin lights are out.

20 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2013

I just left my work related training class around 4:45pm and it was raining on that day. I noticed that I turned on my wipers, the front light and I immediately noticed that my wiper, the front light, signal light, heater and air condition stopped working suddenly. I tried to adjust my wiper speed but could not do any thing, to even turn it off was not possible. My signal failed to work, my horn also failed. I parked to see what might be the problem but could not electronically unlock the doors, also I noticed that when I turn the ignition key to on position, the dash light on the board was off, wiper is moving without been turned on and the light was not on after I started the vehicle. This is a potential danger and this has happened seven to ten times and these only happened when it was raining or during cold weather.

21 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

Takata recall im not sure if it has to do with other service recalls that were performed earlier or what. Every since I had the recalls fixed ive had trouble with my lights flashing, lights on dash flash on and off, cant roll up or down windows, air or heat doesnt work when this happens, its like it just goes crazy. It does it more driving, but does it sitting still as well. Not sure of an exact date when all this started but it just continues to get worse and I had to stop driving it. Not sure if its electrical, computer, or what. I do have video of it. . .

22 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2012

When we used the remote key to unlock our van the alarm sounded, the horn keep beeping, the wipers - both front and back, started, wiper fluid sprayed from both the front and back, the doors would not unlock and the lights stayed on. Once I got in the car ( using a traditional key inside the remote ) I could not control any of the above. It eventually stopped only to start again when I used the remote to lock the car. The battery died and the car was towed to a shop. A new battery was replaced and the car computer reset. I drove it 5 miles home and parked it. 3 hours later I went to unlock the car and the entire process started again - both front and back wipers, lights on, wiper fluid spewing on both windows, car alarm and lights flashing. Again, I could not get in to the car as it remained locked. The battery had to be unwired for this all to stop. The car was towed back to the shop. This time we found out it was the tipm ( totally integrated power module ). The cost of this is over $700. Our car is only 4 years old and after researching this problem I am finding out this is a very common problem with the Chrysler town and country 2008 model. If this happened while I was driving it could be an extreme safety hazard on the road. I want Chrysler to issue a recall on this and issue mine and everyone elses money back - not only for the faulty part but for all the time and inconvenience this causes on car owners. Please don't want until a fatality happens.

23 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2012

This is the same issue that a lot of other people are having with the windsheild wipers and fluid spraying and going off, horn honking and locks going all crazy. About a year ago this happened and I took my car in and was told it was the clock spring, then a week later same thing happened- happened first while I was driving and it went crazy, then also when I use the key faub to unlock the car it acted up. The second time I took it in they told me my battery was bad, but if I had it in a week before that why is that bad now when they should have noticed then? so put in around $700 to fix this issue. Now yesterday, exactly a year later, same thing happened. Driviing on my way to work, it did it for about 5 minutes, I pulled over and shut my car off and restarted it. Then when I left work I pushed my unlock on my key faub and did it for a minute or so, then when I got home and went down to my car to leave last night, used key faub and it started going again, bu tthis time would not stop so the battery is disconnected. I try to hook the battery up and it continues on still. This is dangerous for someone to drive and should be recalled immediately, also, my car would not shift and my abs light and traction control light turned on this time, and last year it did not. My car is possessed!! I commute to work and this is a very dangerous issue and these cars need to be recalled ASAP!.

24 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

Our 2008 town and country lx is experiencing problems with the windshield wipers, horn, dash board lights and radio. When the drivers side door is opened, all of the above items are happening. The dealership where we bought it (not a Chrysler dealer) suggested we take it to a Chrysler dealer to have the tipm (totally integrated power module) replaced as only the Chrysler dealers can do this. After reading so many posts, it appears there are close to 3,000 people having the same problem. I wanted to officially file the complaint but will conduct further research before shelling out $500-1000 to the dealership as thousands of others have. 50% of the problems I read about stated that the tipm didn't totally solve the problem. Thank you.

25 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2012

I was driving down the highway at 55 and the rear 3rd light brake assembly broke off and crashed on the road.

26 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2012

Along with the hundreds of complaints, I too have a problem with horn, lighting, wipers and fluid, car running with no key in ignition etc. While out of town the car had these happen and brought to a certified Chrysler shop. They diagnosed as a bad battery connection after a mechanic driving to his home and back. I was sent on my way after paying $100. Not a large amount but silly when you have to bring the car to my local shop for the same problem three days later. This time it happened while driving at night in the middle of the road. I am appalled by how many complaints have been filed and there has not been a recall on this could be fatal defective part that is shutting down a car with no warning while driving. What do 90% of Mini van drivers have in common? children!!! how unsafe and absurd. Fyi my car is going to be fixed under an extended warranty but this is a major safety concern for anyone that drives a Chrysler van.

27 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

Low beams would start to go off and on and then just off. Restarting car fixed for short time dangerous many problems on the tester.

28 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2012

The vehicle was parked at the time of the incident, with doors unlocked. The vehicle suddenly locked the doors, began sounding the horn, front/back windshield wipers turned on, and lights began flashing. I initially believed the alarm system was going off, but the vehicle would not unlock with the use of the key. After about five minutes, it appeared that power was failing and the vehicle began leaking out all of the windshield wiper fluid in front/back. Soon after, the power seemed to die, but the front end of the vehicle (under the battery) continued to make a clicking noise. The vehicle will not power on with the use of the key, and the car had to be manually unlocked on the drivers side. When researching similar symptoms on the internet, it was found that this is a manufacturer defect and could have occurred while driving, with the loss of steering control and brakes.

29 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2012

Two years ago, while driving at night, horn, wipers, wiper fluid and lights began going off and on by themselves. Stopped the car and turned off the car, but it kept on going on. I was in the car with my 5 children and my husband was not with us. It totally freaked out my children and me. My husband came and disconnected the battery and it stopped. On the way home it had stopped. Call our Chrysler dealership in the morning, but they had no idea what we were talking about and said to bring it in. Not being under warranty (68,000 miles) we decided to do our own research (husband works on cars on a regular basis). We only found that others in this situation were not having any luck at dealership. We have learned how to deal with this for 2 years now. We have taken out the fuse for the horn and wipers (as both will not turn off anymore) and insert wipers when raining. We don't feel safe with this situation, but not able to do anything else. Happens often without pattern. Waiting for a recall since this seems to be a huge problem with Chrysler. Very disappointed in the product.
