general problems of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country - part 1

I was driving yesterday with my 3 kids and the van shutdown without warning at highway speeds. It became a very dangerous event since we did not have breaking and very difficult to steer. After, getting to the shoulder, the vehicle would not start again, although it had a full tank of fuel. The key gets stuck in the on position. And it lock the starter in the ignition phase as if I was holding the key on after the car starts. I cycled the key and noticed that if I held it right, it would not lock the starter in the starting position. However, it would not turn on. I saw there were recalls on this vehicle and one about the ignition.

Driving on freeway the check engine light came on and van shifted into 3rd gear without warning. Diagnosed with stuck valve and gear stuck in 3rd or 2nd year. Van wouldn't drive over 45 rpms had to exit freeway fast. Rpms acting sporadically from 0 to 5 dropping rapidly and increasing. My life was at risked due to fast traffic approaching. Semi�s, cars and trucks headed towards me at 75 mph.

While driving on a flat straight road around 35-45 mph vehicle (about 80k miles) lost all power and steering. Was lucky to get on the shoulder and restart the car. This has happened twice in the last month. All other recalls and repairs are up to date.

Vehicle was in motion on suburban street at speed of 40-45mph in a straight forward direction. Tire/traction symbol flashed on, then vehicle momentarily lost power. All lights flashed off, then came back on. Acceleration cut out, then resumed (foot was still on pedal). Steering temporarily locked up, then the steering wheel released so I could steer again.

Vehicle was in motion on suburban street at speed of 40-45mph in a straight forward direction. Tire/traction symbol flashed on, then vehicle lost all power. There was no lighting, accelerating, braking, or steering control. Vehicle slowed to stop. Removed key from ignition. . . Re-inserted key and re-started ignition. Vehicle then drove normally.

The problem is getting worse. It quit on the road 4 times. Always in the 20-30 mph range. The stabilizer light goes on, then power steering fails, breaks do not respond. Have to pull out key and restart. It has been getting worse over the last 6 months. Mechanics have no idea and say diagnostic check out fine. What do you do! I try 4 kids around in this thing!.

There was no lighting, accelerating, braking, or steering control. Vehicle slowed to stop. Removed key from ignition. . . Re-inserted key and re-started ignition. Vehicle then drove normally.

I have had to replace the tipm twice in the 1 year I owned the vehicle. First issue I had was with the vehicle not starting after many attempts while in a undesirable location. The second time the tipm was replaced was after my headlights would either work or not work and sometimes only one headlight would turn on. It was sporadic. This could lead to safety issues.

While in motion my car turns off while driving. While in park sometimes it will not start right away but everything else turns on.

The following has occurred several times. The last occurrence was 4/12/19. About 5 to 10 minutes once I start driving, the brakes lock up, the wheel locks, the van stalls, and the orange traction light comes on. I turn the car off, put it in park and then restart it. After restarting, it drives ok. This has happened about 15 times since November of last year. I've taken it to two mechanics. On 4/18/19, the mechanic performed a diagnostic test. Codes found were p1790 and c121c. The battery was replaced and he said if the problem reoccurs the engine control module is faulty. The first mechanic also made some repairs. I've spent over $1000 trying to fix this issue. There's over 800 issues on this website of this issue. What would it take to get an investigation opened?.

For a few months now the van will sometimes not start, even if starting it back up immediately after just driving it. It has died in the middle of the road while driving with no steering capabilities, it hesitates when driving between 35-40 mph. I never know if it's going to start back up after I shut it off, or when it's just going to decide to lock up and die while driving.

While driving van completely shut off no power no motor no steering. Van continued to turn on an off lights turned on an off on there own. This happened multiple times had problem fixed just to completely died again same issues. This van has cost me alot in repairs and rentals an tows it is not safe for me to drive with my kids knowing it can shut off while driving with out warning at anytime .

I have a town and country 2010 and it has been in the repair shop off and on for the last 5 months. Van started stalling and jerking and cut off in the middle of a intersection with oncoming traffic scared me to death. Was told the tipm system is defective. Chrysler need to recall this van before someone id killed not safe to drive at all.

Shuts down randomly while driving and loses power steering, difficult to stop. Occurs in any condition or speed. Sometimes traction control warning light comes on right beforehand. Inability to control vehicle after engine shutdown. Has occurred when driving straight and when turning. Has occurred at low speed and high speed. Has occurred on city streets and highways. I just chose one date but it has happened numerous times. There have been multiple near misses of crashing or being hit while vehicle.

Chrysler town and country 2010 the wireless ignition node is problem r03/NHTSA 14v-373 but I call Chrysler said my car is not incluse recall, but 2 day ago my car suddlely engine shot down on the highway.

Vehicle stalls while driving the car on city street and highway. No warning and it loses all power. Steering wheel locks and the only thing I can do is brake to stop the car. This has happened 3 times now with my kids in the car with me. Not safe at all and for some reason my VIN is not in the recall about this issue.

On multiple occasions, so far happened 3 times during the first 5 mins driving on a curved road, twice happened at the same location 1 week apart. First lost the power steering, then the esp/traction control lights on, power brake lost next. Manage to stop the car, turn on the hazard lights and restart the 2010 t&c. Then every thing back to normal again. Sent to sands Chrysler dealer over quakertown PA 18951, no code read out, suggest to start with 90k maintenance. Noticed so many similiar case reported through the web pages, hope Chrysler treat this seriously. The dealer did not perform the l25 recall on the ignition switch, looks like my car is not qualify, I will double check again. Milage reading is 96069.

While driving the car in town it has now (3rd time) randomly shut off. It has happen while going anywhere from 10-40 mph. The traction light flashes for a quick second and then you lose all power. This includes the breaks and steering. Was able to coast to the side of the road. Put the car in park and start the car back up and it has run fine. It has become more frequent recently and is a very serious situation as we have avoided an accident twice with other cars around us almost hitting us. This should be recalled as I have read over 200 different reports on various sites. We took to a dealer and they were not able to get a code to pin point what is wrong. I have heard the erg valve was replaced on some and it has solve this issue. If Chrysler doesn't want to look into this reoccurring problem it is horrible. I hope a death doesn't have to occur before they look into this.

The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. After starting the vehicle, the security indicator sensor blinked off and on, and the esp, traction stability control, and bas sensor indicators remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified. The failure mileage was 77,898.

While driving on the highway all the warning lights came on and the vehicle died. Total loss of control. Pulled over on the side of road. I had no power, no emergency lights. After about 10 minutes I started the car and was able to drive home. The same problem persisted and I took it to the dealership to have the problem analyzed. The dealership was not able to find the problem and told me to take the vehicle home. Since the problem continued I returned to the dealership three more time and they still were not able to find the problem. The last time the vehicle was in the shop called the Chrysler corporation and they called the dealership. The Chrysler corporation was given the same story. I researched on the internet to attempt to find out if other owners had similar problems, there were several reported but their dealerships could not identify the problem either. I have not used the vehicle since the dealership checked it, several people have inquire about buying the vehicle but I am afraid to sell it and have them driving on a highway/freeway at 70mph and the vehicle stops and an accident happens. Can you help??????.

My vehicle almost daily will stall out and die while in motion on roadways. The traction control light comes on, the power steering fails and the car dies. This generally happens between 30-40 mph and often times multiple times a day. The radio and other components will remain on but I have to turn it off and pump it to get it to restart. I have seen hundreds of forums that list this as a current complaint with this year range of town and country's.

2010 Chrysler Town & Country completely shuts off while driving, rpms dropped below 1 and power steering completely gone. Took car to my mechanic was told win module, towed car to local Chrysler dealer and paid diagnostic fee after being told that recall had already been completed, only to be told by dealer that fuel pump bad and battery needs to be charged. I am doubting the fuel pump would cause car to completely shut down. This is very unsafe and could have been potentially fatal as I had my young children in the car and was seconds away from heading over a big bridge.

Windows on both drivers side and passenger side, throughout the vehicle will cease to function. The side mirrors will also not function. When you try, they don't work and also light up the dash board lights ( low tire, check engine, etc. All idiot lights. This can all be going on in all modes. Parked driving day or night. It all started on the date below. It still exists to this day.

The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. While driving 35 mph, the electronic stability control warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle on the first attempt. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000 (electrical system, air bags). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

My Chrysler 2010 town and country shutdown completely while driving on the interstate and roads. I took it to southern Chrysler Jeep. They replaced the erg valve for approximately $600. A week later it shutdown again. Took it back to them and they could not find a problem they gave it back said drive until service light comes on. I did that. They said the codes that were read did not cause the issue. They kept the van and got get to shutdown on them. Now they said that it "might" be the tipm box for $1200. Replace the box on a might. The service rep recommended that I did not get it fix because they are unsure that this is the cause of the problem. He recommended that I trade it in and buy a car. I contacted Chrysler corporate office. Assigned a case manager that is unavailable until evening time when I work. They will not assign another case manager. I don't know what's going on with my van. So now it's pay$1200 for another repair that may not fix the problem or come get the van. I'm truly scared of what could happen if I continue to drive this hazardous car on the highways and roads without knowing exactly what's wrong. Replaced the tipm box and shutdown twice.

While driving the vehicle, always under 40mph, the traction control light comes on, I lose power steering, the engine shuts down, all lights and radio is down. So far I have been able to put it in neutral and restart. This morning I hit a curb going around the round about taking my kids to school. This has been going on over a year. It doesn't matter if its cold or hot, raining or sunny. It will go a month with nothing and then in one day it will die 6 times. We have been to private mechanics we have been to two different Chrysler dealers and they have checked the erg valve and the key fob, the ignition switch, they have check the battery, ran down all the electrical stuff, they had it for 2 days last week and couldn't figure it out. It's died on my 4 times this week. I have four kids and I'm always in the van and now I'm scared to drive it! we checked the VIN and there is no recall as we already did the vent window. But the recalls that are listed describe exactly what is happening. So Chrysler knows and doesn't care! you cannot just recall certain batches when there are clearly other vehicles doing the same problem. What is Chrysler prepared to do for a family when they are seriously injured in an accident because of their van! can't trade it in. Don't have the money to take the loss, wtf are consumers supposed to do with these vans. We are the original owners of the 2010 t&c, I love this van but it scares me to death! I just want it fixed! I mean I love roller coasters too but if one kept going off the tracks I'm not damn sure I wouldn't ride it or put my family on it. Please Chrysler fix these cars!.

First problem the left sliding door stopped working which appears to be a very common problem. The other major issue which is very common with this vehicle is the van runs great until it doesn't then there seems to be no definite fix. It started a few months ago when my van wouldn't start. We have taken to multi ok e mechanics and have also had it tested with recommendations from auto stores. We have replaced three batteries, two starters, the alternator and still something is draining the battery. I can't even count the times I have been told well maybe it's this or that and we fix it only to drive it and find myself and kids stranded somewhere because it won't start again. I have a family member with the same issue and have seen many others online with the same issue spending tons of time and money into trying to solve the problem only to not be any closer than when started. I am now in the process of troubleshooting if the entertainment system is the problem and draining my battery. I charged the battery th end pulled stereo fuse my van stated charged however did hesitate to start once I had to turn key sev er al times. But battery did stay charged. I put the fuse back in and checked a little later and it quickly drained. So I may have found the issue however we have thought that many times so not holding my breath but if that is the issue that still is a huge disappointment because it controls so much both dvd players bluetooth navigation stereo cd player and some other electric features definitely not cheap to replace and having this was a main reason we purchased this vehicle for our family very disappointed that there is not a recall already and we along with others are just left out on our own -my email cblevensky@yahoo. Esp warning light continues to come on while the vehicle is in motion. Have taken vehicle for repair multiple times and it still comes on.

Vehicle stalls without warning, typically when attempting to propel forward from a stop, but has also occurred more rarely at highway speeds. The electronic stability control and electronic throttle lights come on, power steering and brakes are affected as well. Vehicle must be turned off and restarted. Happened frequently prior to the recall fix, stopped for a period of time, and has now resumed worse than ever. So, so dangerous as I desperately fear being rear ended or t-boned if this occurs when pulling out in traffic, particularly when young children are in the vehicle. This seems to be an extremely common concern based on the complaints and needs to be resolved before someone is seriously injured or worse. Brought vehicle to dealer two weeks ago to repair, they could not replicate and no repair was completed. If you're reading this because you have a similar issue, please document it so that we can bring as much attention to this as possible in order to incite action.

I bought my 2010 town and country in June 2015 since having it this incident has happened about 4 or 5 times where I am driving down the street going around 20-30 miles an hr when my esp light will come on and my brakes and steering wheel lock up and the vehicle stalls until I turn the car off and restart it. This is very frustrating and scary when I have children in the car.

The van stalled while driving down a busy highway. I lost all control and the car shut down. I had no control over speed, steering or brakes. I also could not pull over due to being in center lane. All I could do was coast to a stop and put on flashers. I then put in park and restarted engine.

Van will unexpectedly become unresponsive while driving. Esp light comes on. No power steering. Brakes hard to push. Loss of control. Very scary. Have to try to pull over. Put in park. Then restart van. All recalls have been preformed. Dealer can not replicate issue. No code for dealer to determin problem. Has been to dealer three times. This issue has occurred 4 times now with no resolution. Very unsafe. Chrysler customer care has been made aware of problem. Can not come up with solution. Since they can not replicate. Will not offer to buy back car. Please help.

At random intervals while while in motion, either on city streets or the highway, the electrical stability controls fault out, causing the engine to shut off, and the steering wheel and brakes to lock up. The only option is to drift to the side of the road, come to a complete stop, and restart the car. This occurs multiple times throughout the day, though there is no official diagnosis from Chrysler as to the problem. It has experienced the issue for about 3 months and has gotten progressively worse. A separate recall is in effect for 2010 Town & Country cars manufactured during the first part of the year for this problem; however vehicles manufactured from July-December of the same year have no recall, despite exhibiting the same issue. Chrysler has been unhelpful in coordinating restitution for the faulty system, which induces dangerous operating conditions for drivers, especially on the highway. Though my family and I have not yet wrecked, this issue has caused multiple wrecks for others, and accordingly, numerous complaints.

The electronic stability control comes on for no reason. When driving normally under normal conditions. It comes on and stays on. The car then losses power steering, no power at accelerator, and brakes are engaged. A basic loss of control of vehicle. You have to try to pull over shut off vehicle and then restart. This resets and you can drive normally. This is an extremely unsafe and scary when it happens. Has happened three times. Have taken car to two different Chrysler dealers which find nothing wrong because no trouble code for them to read. . This has happened three times now. My wife is afraid to drive the car.
