Coming to a stop or slowing down or even cruising at even 40 mph, the rpm's will drop to zero without warning and the engine will shut off. Sometime this will be preceded by a jerking motion in the car. If we put the car in neutral we can immediately restart the engine. This is dangerous as we lose power steering and brakes when this happens and if we are in the middle of a turn it is very difficult to complete the turn and we are exposed to oncoming traffic. We have never yet had these ignition problems occur on the highway. Also, our ignition key fob has many times mysteriously turned our car on or off, has caused the alarm to come on, has locked and unlocked our car, and has even opened our windows part way when we are approaching our van. These things have been occurring for about 4 years. We have had a Chrysler dealer service dept. And another reputable mechanic both unsuccessful at finding the cause of these problems.
On multiple occasions, so far happened 3 times during the first 5 mins driving on a curved road, twice happened at the same location 1 week apart. First lost the power steering, then the esp/traction control lights on, power brake lost next. Manage to stop the car, turn on the hazard lights and restart the 2010 t&c. Then every thing back to normal again. Sent to sands Chrysler dealer over quakertown PA 18951, no code read out, suggest to start with 90k maintenance. Noticed so many similiar case reported through the web pages, hope Chrysler treat this seriously. The dealer did not perform the l25 recall on the ignition switch, looks like my car is not qualify, I will double check again. Milage reading is 96069.
Vehicle stalls while driving constantly. It seems to be worse at slower speeds, but does happen at higher speeds. When the stall occurs, you often see the abs light come on. The car loses power steering. You have to pull over and restart or sometimes can put it into neutral and restart while driving. There are other times car seems to surge forward for no reason. It's often difficult to start.
While driving the vehicle, always under 40mph, the traction control light comes on, I lose power steering, the engine shuts down, all lights and radio is down. So far I have been able to put it in neutral and restart. This morning I hit a curb going around the round about taking my kids to school. This has been going on over a year. It doesn't matter if its cold or hot, raining or sunny. It will go a month with nothing and then in one day it will die 6 times. We have been to private mechanics we have been to two different Chrysler dealers and they have checked the erg valve and the key fob, the ignition switch, they have check the battery, ran down all the electrical stuff, they had it for 2 days last week and couldn't figure it out. It's died on my 4 times this week. I have four kids and I'm always in the van and now I'm scared to drive it! we checked the VIN and there is no recall as we already did the vent window. But the recalls that are listed describe exactly what is happening. So Chrysler knows and doesn't care! you cannot just recall certain batches when there are clearly other vehicles doing the same problem. What is Chrysler prepared to do for a family when they are seriously injured in an accident because of their van! can't trade it in. Don't have the money to take the loss, wtf are consumers supposed to do with these vans. We are the original owners of the 2010 t&c, I love this van but it scares me to death! I just want it fixed! I mean I love roller coasters too but if one kept going off the tracks I'm not damn sure I wouldn't ride it or put my family on it. Please Chrysler fix these cars!.
While driving vehicle we have lost power steering and all controls to vehicle on 5 occasions. This commonly occurs after hitting bump in road. Symptoms of vehicle match up exactly to NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000, this is an expansion of recall 11v-139 (the engine will turn off, which will then depower various key safety systems including but not limited to air bags, power steering, and power braking), however Chrysler says my vehicle is not included in this recall. My vehicle was manufactured several months after the vehicles included in that recall. I believe my vehicle is also affected.
Myself,my husband,& 3 young children were driving home at 45 mls an hour and the vehicle completely turned off. We lost power steering, power brakes and the engine shut off. We had to coast to a complete stop( thank god no one was behind us or around us) and put the van in park and it turned back on. So we started driving on, only to have the van shut off a second time while going uphill again at 45 mls per hour. The same things happened, power steering, power brakes and engine cutoff! again we were blessed that no one was around as there is no where to pull over! we put the van in park,it started back up and made it the one more mile home with no problem. We took the van to service center at the dealership ( we have bumper to bumper warranty) they kept the vehicle for almost 4 wks, while they had it, it shut down on them once but could not get the vans computer to "throw a code" to their computer. They wanted to give it back without doing anything to it, we asked that they at least address the recall issue of the win module (as this is described as exactly what was happening)they did this, however, the van has shut down on us two more times! they kept the van for a few days and replaced the win module again, although they still don't know for sure that it is the problem as my van will not " throw a code"! I now have a $400 a month van parked in my driveway and am in limbo until Chrysler corp gets back to me! I refuse to trust their "best guess" with my family and others lives on the road.
In June 2013 my engine stalled without warning. I lost power steering and power brakes. I was traveling <10 mph. I had another incident later that same year in October. The incidents were so random and I thought perhaps I didn't turn the key fob all the way after starting the vehicle via the remote start system. Again in 2014 it occurred several times, so I started trying to determine the common denominator, but could find none. The service station I brought it to couldn't diagnose or repair due to the inability to replicate the problem. In 2015, the problem became more frequent and today I am now experiencing this 2-3 times per day 3-4 times per week at speeds traveling up to 40 mph. I brought it to my local Chrysler dealership where I purchased the vehicle and after having my vehicle for 5 days they were unable to diagnose or repair due to the inability to replicate the problem. This has truly become a serious safety issue as I always lose power steering and brakes. Typically, I put my hazards on, place the vehicle in neutral, restart it, return to drive, and turn hazards off. However, I came very close to being involved in an accident when this occurred while I was making a left hand turn through an intersection. I am at a loss as what to do.
