The contact owns a 2011 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to three independent mechanics to be diagnosed. The contact was informed by all three mechanics that cylinder number 4 was defective. The vehicle was then taken to naples Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram (6381 airport-pulling rd, naples, FL 34109) to be diagnosed however, the contact declined to have the vehicle diagnosed after being informed that a diagnostic fee would be assessed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no additional assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
Vehicles was parked in driveway went to start vehicle and it will not start, vehicle will turn over and act like it,is not getting fuel. If vehicle sits for some time eventually it will start 3-4 times and then issue will occur again. Vehicle started with no problem the previous day, problem occurred without any warning, no check engine light displayed on dash. When vehicle is off fuel pump can be heard still running with ignition off and battery has to be disconnected in order to stop fuel pump from running and not drain battery. Battery is brand new, fuses have been checked and are in good condition. In researching online I have found others to have the same issue but have not seen any recall. Was able to fiind possible temporary fix by using a fuel pump relay bypass but have not tried this option. . I have called and spoken to be Chrysler service department and have been told that it here is no recall and all I can do is have car towed to them and let them check it out. I would think with recall they have done on Jeep and Dodge protects there would be something they can tell. Same issue has occurred with the Dodge caravan which is basically the Chrysler town n country. Please help!!!!!!!!!.
Was leaving work when my check engine light came one, along with the traction control light and the brakes got hard. Car stopped, turned it off to turn it back on, and it would not start. All lights, radio, etc came on, but engine would not turn over or engage. Do not think fuel pump was engaging either. Tried numerous things, including the tipm bypass and it still will not start. 90% plus of my driving is highway. I got very lucky that this system failure happened when it did, as a few minutes later and I would have been on a very busy highway, as well as if it had happened on my way to work.
-vehicle operated normally, however rough idle at low speeds was noticed in June 2013. -check engine light came on shortly after, however would go out after a couple of driving cycles. -on July 14, 2013 while driving on the highway, the engine suddenly lost power and speed was reduced. -check engine light illuminated and has stayed on ever since. -took the vehicle to the local Chrysler dealership for diagnostics. Cylinder misfire code was the reason for the check engine light. -it has been diagnosed that the cylinder head needs to be replaced due to manufacturer's defect. -dealership and Chrysler have admitted that this is a known issue and a more robust cylinder head has been engineered to replace the faulty ones. -Chrysler has however refused to cover the replacement under the 5yr/100,000 mile powertrain warranty.
Check engine light is on and I tested it with my carmd and it showed 2 codes p0792 (intermediate shaft speed sensor a circuit range/performance) and p0734 (gear 4 incorrect ratio). We have also been told that the brakes need replacing and it only has 47,668 miles on the vehicle.
