Failure Date: 02/24/2017

My blind spot mirror indicates that it needs to be serviced. I took it to a deale rand they replaced the one monitor. Another indication came up,which they said it was because of corrosion. The right rear indicator needed to be replaced. I have an extended warranty they refused to except responsibility and would not pay for the repairs because of the corrosion. The cast would be around $11,000 dollars I believe that it is Chrysler problem because of the location thank you what else can I do. Ps I am a 81 year old man and this is a safety problem for me.

37 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2017

My car has shut off 4 times while driving in 4 separate dates randomly. I have taken it to the dealership 3 times. The times the car has shut off has been while driving at speeds about 20km per hour. Luckily there was no traffic during these 4 events. The first two times the dealership did not know what it was so they sent us home. The 3rd time we went they replaced the crankshaft sensors but as we have been driving it seems like the problem may come back again. Time will tell if it got fixed or not. Hopefully we are not involved in a traffic accident by then because of this issue. This issue began in January of this 2017.

38 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2016

We recently purchased our second town and country after having really liking our first van. We really liked the idea of having the blind spot detection system. A year or so into owning the van we started getting a warning about the blind spot system not being available and said that it needed service. It started happening when the snow started flying here in michigan. Now as soon as you start the vehicle it states it is not available and leaves the triangles lit in the mirrors with an occasional beeping sound. From other posts and research I have read this seems to be a common issue with water getting into these sensors and shorting them out. Why these sensors weren't made more weather proof is beyond me. Since this is an add on to make driving safer I think Chrysler should step up, be held accountable and recall these very expensive safety modules. To have just one of the two sensors replaced by a dealer is $1200.

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2016

Dear all, I went to miami lakes auto mall to claim for the recall on my car and they denied to replace it. My wife is driving the car and I afraid that she can be in danger because this problem. I really appreciate to help me to solve this problem. The rear quarter vent window switch on your vehicle may overheat if exposed to liquid moisture. My car is recovery theft with no crash.

This is my 7th Chrysler or Dodge minivan - and I love them. I searched for 6 months to find the model/color/features I wanted before finding this particular vehicle. I was thrilled that it had all the options I wanted - highest on my list is the 'blind spot sensors' as I do a lot of highway driving with kids in the car on busy michigan highways. A few weeks ago the sensors would 'stick' on, but after restarting the van it they would work properly for a while, and then 'stick' on again. Now they are always on - making an extremely expensive safety feature option useless as I have had to turn them off to stop the constant chiming and for the sensor lights in my side-view mirrors to be off. I have looked all over the internet and apparently this is an extremely common issue. Where can I get serious safety this issue fixed? as it is apparently some design flaw I do not believe *I* should be responsible for paying for these repairs and if it cannot be fixed I should be reimbursed the sticker cost of this feature as it cannot be used!.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2016

Car was parked. I had previously used it that day. It would not start. Problem is intermittent. On one occasion when it finally started it displayed object in the rear of the car message even though there was no object.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2016

The blind spot monitor system has failed at 61109 miles. The sensors need to be replaced and the vehicle is out of warranty. The cost is $2200 and has to be repaired by the dealer. I will have to turn off the system and drive without it. As a safety system of the vehicle, the system should be under warranty for the same time period as the emissions system.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2016

Just today my blind spot monitoring system seems to have malfunctioned. The vehicle has just over 62,000 miles on it and is well maintained and taken care of. The system functioned properly yesterday and then when my wife drove it today she started to experience the issue. I had to shut off the monitoring system as the blind spot indicators remained lit simultaneously and the vehicle information center continued to chime with the indication to "service blind spot system. " a simple online search of "service blind spot system" brings up multiple complaints of the exact same thing having happened to owners of this very same year, make, and model of this vehicle. All of these complaints, on average, had roughly the same amount of miles as my vehicle does. All of the complaints also list a repair cost of $1,000 to $2,000+ and remark that it may be both sensors that need to be replaced and not just one of them. If this is true and it seems to be a recurring theme, why is there not a recall for this issue? both sensors should be replaced by Chrysler at no cost to the manufacturer as it seems to be a relatively known issue.

44 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2015

On 12/12/2015 bought a used 2012 town and country touring l with push-to-start feature, with 40,500 miles. Starting 12/20/2015 I would get in the car, step on brake, push the start button, the engine starts up, and vroom for a couple seconds, then died. If I push the start button again it would try crank all day but would not start. I'd have to foot-off the brake and push start to have it in the off mode, open and close the door to "reset" everything as I just get in the car, and re-try again, and it would start up normally. It was a once a week thing, and now once every couple days. I found a large amount of similar complaints online and all points to the tipm defect. I'm concerned about the issue, in addition to start up, might happen during driving. My car is under extended warranty and I'll have it fixed soon, but I'm concerned about if the replacement would be the same parts that would go bad again in three years. Chryslershould issue a recall with a new-and-improved tipm module.

45 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2015

Grinding coming from rear wheels. Attempted to remove wheel on passenger side 1 lug nut broke. Dealership claimed to attempted to remove by drilling it out, but claimed couldn't because heat had been applied. I never took it anywhere nor applied heat. Took it some where to have taken off. Turns out I had to replaced rear brake pads and rotors. Funny how theres a hub issue on some town and country but not mine. They didn't think the lug nut was a defect. I've never seen one break where the cover of the lug not tears off. Then the sides of the lug break off leaving the base of the lug. After driving the van prior to replacement of parts you could feel the heat coming off of the wheels. Possibly, could that have been the heat that caused the lug not to be able to have been drilled out like the dealership attempted. After several searches of the internet I have seen that I am not the only one unhappy with all of the other issues with this Chrysler product or the dealerships selling them.

46 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

The automatic sliding doors and lift gate are a safety risk for my three young children. I am assuming this minivan is marketed toward families with young children like mine. My seven year old son has been pushed off of his feet by the sliding door as it closed. I am a grown woman and was injured by the lift gate closing on me. The sensors are not adjustable for sensitivity according to my local dealership.

47 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

The blind spot detector stopped working properly, all of the sudden, without any known other damage or event to the car. The estimate to repair the problem is $2200. The safety system gives an audible "ding, ding, ding" alert periodically and the sensor lights on the mirror are always lit. Very distracting.

48 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2015

My complaint is on how long it is taking the dealership to get a part for the recall on the rear quarter vent window switch. I requested service in April when we received the recall notice and as of today they say they still do not have the part. I asked why and they say it is a restricted order.

49 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2015

I own 2012 Chrysler town and country. I found that if I drive 15mph front door, sliding door and rear hatch will be locked. After I hear lock sound, I can still open front driver and passenger door while I am driving. Even I can open both front door while I am driving at 70mph. I rent a 2015 Chrysler 200 at airport, found that same issue.

50 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2015

I would like to file a complaint and have a inquiry opened about a Chrysler and faulty safety device blind spot detection system on one of their vehicles that fails repeatedly time and time again but doesn't have a company recall. I have a active case open with Chrysler and have tried to get them to review this safety feature that fails without notice on perfect mint conditions vehicles Chrysler town and country minivans. There a very numerous cases of this that has a price tag that is extremely expensive for the part in the car. Two 3" x 3" plastic boxes are over $1100 each and will not work if one fails so both have to be replaced at the same time causing a $2200-$3000 expenditure are very limited mileage on the vehicle.

51 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2015

The blind spot detection does not work and it is a safety issue.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

My 2 year old son exited the van on the passenger side, through power sliding door. The door closed on his hand and did not retract automatically. We reached out to Chrysler who sent an inspector. The inspector tested the door with a folded terry cloth. I provided him with a doll, which has a hand the same size and shape of a child's. The passenger door closed completely on the doll hand. The drivers side door opened automatically. So there existed a difference between the two doors. Chrysler stated they believe there is nothing wrong with the van. We took the van to the dealership, they also stated the door closes normally. We reached out to the local news station wftv who agreed to assist because the passenger side door still closed on the doll hand, while the driver side door did not. The van was taken to zembower's auto center where immediate testing revealed the car needed a new battery. The comment was made, how is Chrysler able to diagnose a potential electrical issue without first checking the electrical system to be sure its operating normally. I took the van to the dealership who then agreed, the van does need a new battery. We took the van back to zembowers for a battery replacement. Upon replacement the passenger door now seems to be operating normally. So the issue still remains, why is it that when the battery is in need of replacement in the van, that the passenger power door is less sensitive than the drivers side, allowing it to close on hands of children? and it should be noted that no service engine lights were illuminated, so no indication was given as to the van needing a new battery. So, based on this experience, are we to assume that anytime the van battery is depleted, even before giving any indication through the service engine lights, that the passenger side power door will become insensitive? this issue remains unresolved.

Failure Date: 06/30/2014

We contacted the local dealership in July and were told that they would call us when the parts to fix the faulty window switch on the driver's side door were received. As of today, they have not received the parts. We feel that 4 months is too long to wait for parts to fix a safety recall issue.

54 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

I first brought my t&c into the dealer immediately following the notice to get the work done in farmington, mi. Upon arrival they had no parts and essentially, so they disconnected the windows and I have not heard a peep since. I called in July to get the work done -- no parts from Chrysler at dealer. I moved to CA and stopped at dealer to get warranty work on engine in daly city and asked them to complete the work. They said that they have not received parts yet. This has been ongoing for almost a year now and is completely unacceptable. I would like some recourse.

-stalling when you try to start. I push the button and it stalls. When I get to my destination, it switches from off to accy. The stalling issue continues to get worse. Now, it acts as if it is trying to start the engine and nothing connects. This morning, it took approximately 10 tries to get it to turn over. This was after I had driven it a couple of miles. Then, when I arrived at work, it went into the accy mode again as I was opening the door to exit the vehicle. The dealer hooked it to their computer months ago. But, I guess if there is not code, the problem doesn't exist???? the last time they suggested it was related to a transmission issue that they addressed.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2014

The rear-liftgate of our 2012 Chrysler Town & Country slammed shut on April 11, 2014. Thankfully, we weren't underneath it at the time. Both struts gave out at the same time. We took it in for service on April 12, 2014 and I described to the service manager how dangerous this problem might be, should someone be under the liftgate. That liftgate is 400 lbs. , coming down rapidly and slamming shut. He noted that he would discuss it "up his chain" at Chrysler and advised that I discuss my concern when I get surveyed from my service call. I've yet to be surveyed, so he provided me with your contact information. I am fearful that someone may get seriously hurt by this slamming liftgate. For us, we will no longer walk underneath the liftgate as it is raising up, until it is fully open and stopped.

I was driving our town and country van on the interstate and was going to change lanes to my left. The blind spot detection did not come on to warn me that a car was there. Almost hit the other car. This has happened many times since. On 9-27-1014 driving out of the driveway at our house the blind spot detection did not pick up the garbage can on the side of the drive and hit the can causing $ 361. 53 of damage. Told Chrysler but they said no recalls for this. Now the blind spot system is not working at all and the dash is dinging all the time. I see there was a recall for a 2009 town and country van for this problem no. J01. Many people are complaining on the internet about this fix costing $ 2,000 at the dealer. Seems there should be a recall for this 2012 van as safety has been lost and crashes are expected to happen.

58 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2014

As I was driving down the highway at approximately 70mph, my vehicle lost all power. It was so abrupt that it felt as if I had been rear ended. I had no power steering, and all electrical components of my van shut off. I attempted to steer towards the shoulder, and my van regained power. The dash lights flashed twice and then I had full power. The van then again had all lights shut off and it shut off. This second occurrence was quicker than the first, and the power flashed back on after a few seconds. I exited with the van off the highway and had it towed. The dealership drove the vehicle, but was unable to replicate the problem so they could not repair it. They do not know why it happened or if/when it will happen again, but they are unwilling to purchase the car back from me.

59 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2014

We have the blind spot monitoring system on this van - a several thousand dollar option. Both rear sensors have rusted/corroded out two years ago due to a sup-par design. They cost about four thousand dollars to replace. Why don' t Chrysler have to recall and replace the defective sensors?.

60 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2014

As I was coming home from work at night on January 18th 2014 my lights on my 2012 Chrysler town and country went out for a couple of seconds and than came back on. I was going 70mph on the highway and very thankful that I did not crash because of this. I took my van in and found it out it is the totally integraded power module. The part I need is on back order and no one has an eta. I have been without my vehicle since January 29, 2014. I have been in contact with Chrysler and they say that there is nothing they can do and basically they are not responsible for the defect part. I have been in contact with multiple dealerships and this has not been an isolated incident. Dealerships have seen multiple incidents on the tipm. The part is on national back order, so that also raises a red flag. I have done some research on this and have found out this has been going on for many years. I'm not understanding why Chrysler is not being held responsible for this defective part. How many people have to get hurt before something is done. There is a class action lawsuit against Chrysler for the tipm. What more needs to be proved that there is a significant defect with this part and have Chrysler held responsible? the dealership where my van is stated to me that the tipm has made my vehicle unsafe to drive. Why does this not scream saftey recall??.

61 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2013

On April 12 2013 was the first problem that started with the vehicle. While driving the windshield wipers turned on while driving. I was unable to turn them off until I disconnected the battery. I have had several experience with the vehicle turning off while driving going highway speeds. It sometimes won't even start up, just flashes blind spot unavailable. Also the alarm goes off at random times. The sliding passenger doors open and close when vehicle is off and sitting in drive way. Both doors will open half way then suddenly start to close with nothing blocking the door. Power stow and go malfunctions all the time!!!!. The vehicle is putting off a very heavy gasoline smell now when it starts. I feel like this car is possessed. Chrysler will not help me with this situation. They are putting my family in danger everyday!.

62 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2012

The rear driver sliding door opens and shuts with loud clicking noise, tries to shut on passengers as they enter, my child rides in the seat and the door didnt shut all the way as I drove down the road not realizing this until I stopped and noticed door was not shut all the way, had small gap in the door way, no alarms or anything went off telling me the door was still open, this put my childs life in danger, had the vehicle to dealer several times where it was purchased and they cant find where problem is coming from.
