I was adjusting the headrest and the active headrest broke free and released. No excessive pressure just a standard adjustment.
2014 Chrysler town and country: while in motion, headrest and back of seat sounded like they "exploded". Headrest had broken and snapped forward thrusting head downward towards steering wheel. Back of seat lunged forward at the same time. Now air bag light is on in vehicle. This caused headache, neck pain, back pain, and pain sensitivity to hearing.
Drivers headrest airbag went off unexpectedly causing minor whiplash to myself, the driver and causing uncomfortable head placement and high repair costs.
The passenger seat headrest deployed without warning. I slowly pulled out of a parking lot and proceeded down the road. I heard a loud bang and looked over at my daughter to ask what was that. She said ouch my head. I looked at her seat and saw the headrest deployed. I took it to the dealership and they said there wasn’t anything they could do but it was equivalent to an airbag deploying. I called Chrysler and they say my van is out of warranty and they can’t help. This is a known safety issue and yet no recalls have been made. I fear my drivers side headrest will do the same. Someone needs to fix this issue. My daughter has whiplash.
Active head rest deployed without collision (or even being hit slightly).
Driver and passenger headrests have both deployed without an accident occuring.
While driving on the highway, the passenger side headrest deployed without any warning or accident causing it to. A plastic part that holds a metal bar in place seems to have broken. No one was injured at the time. This seems to be a common problem. Chrysler needs to fix this! who knows when the driver side one will deploy on its own with no accident.
I was sitting in my 2014 town and country and my active headrest restraint randomly activated hitting me in the back of the head. I was parked with one passenger in the vehicle. It hurt my neck as it shot my head forward.
Passenger side headrest literally exploded open due to a broken plastic tab. I was only mildly injured but definitely felt the after effects in my neck and back. Definite safety concern. I'm worried the driver side headrest will do the same thing as we are driving. Absolutely should be a safety recall.
Passenger headrest randomly deployed. No accident no reason to deploy. Deployed when getting inside the vehicle.
The headrest on the front passenger seat deployed when there was no accident. The car has been stopped and was still running. My son was driving and it hit me in the back of the head. If this had happened to the driver's side headrest while driving, it could have easily caused an accident by distracting the driver.
Active headrest deployed without collision.
I am the original owner of a 2014 Chrysler Town & Country minivan. In the spring of 2023 I went out to go run and errand and when I got into my van I saw that the headrest on the passenger side front seat had opened up. I tried to close it but it wouldn't move. When I got home I started checking to see what the deal was with the headrest and found out that the headrest had deployed without there being any sort of accident and fortunately there was no one in the seat at the time. Chrysler is not taking any responsibility for the problem. Now I have a failed headrest that is supposed to prevent injuries to passengers that is inoperable. And I have a questionable headrest on my driver's side seat that I don't know when it might decide to deploy one day when I am driving my vehicle. This is totally unresponsible of Chrysler and I think they need to be held responsible for this and replace their headrests at their own expense.
The active headrest on the driver seat, sprang open with a loud pop, hitting me in the back of the head while I was driving. I have heard of many other drivers having the same problem. There was no accident. There was no collision. Or was no warning. I have not taken this in to get fixed yet. People online are saying it costs up to $750 to get fixed. It is uncomfortable to drive the car with the headrest in this position.
The passenger seat headrest has internal damage and fallen forward. There have been no accidents and nothing has disrupted the headrest. It is now unsafe for a passenger to be in the seat with a faulty headrest.
The passenger seat headrest has fallen forward. We have tried to put it back however the part inside is broken it appears. I have not been in any accident. Nothing has hit the seat either. I am not sure what would happen if one of us is sitting there an an accident happen; out head is not protected. Especially if my teenager is there. I had not warning lights. My vehicle was in the dealership recently for another issue and they did not noticed anything. No one has inspected the vehicle as of today; 26 Jan 2023.
Passenger headrest violently exploded forward without warning while car was parked and running with no passenger seated. Should be recalled!!!!!!!.
Passenger headrest violently exploded forward without warning while car was parked and running with my wife in the passenger seat.
Passenger side front headrest deployed with no occupation or contact and will not reset. Had someone been sitting in the seat it could have caused serious trauma to their head and/or neck. It absolutely startled and scared me. Had a vehicle been in the neighboring lanes I very well could have caused an accident after the deployment. No prior warnings of any kind preceded the incident and I have not been to a dealer for inspection.
The driver headrest popped out and struck me in the back of the head, nearly caused me to crash. I've seen online this is a previous reported issue, however no recalls. This is very dangerous and I was traveling with me one year old. . .
While driving at highway speed the front passenger side headrest deployed into its crash position. There was no collision, the vehicle was at was at highway speed. The front passenger’s head was whipped forward, causing neck pain.
Driving down the road about 3 or 4 months ago driver head rest blew apart hit me in the back of the head. About 3 days ago my son was getting something out of the glove box and passanger headrest blew apart lucky he was far enough away it barley touchex him. No accidentshappend just randomly went off. Started to read abouy it. And their is a safty lawsuit going with no recall yet. Very unsafe.
The front passenger side active headrest deployed without warrant. It looks broken and can't be reset.
Both of my headrests in the front (driver and passenger) within a week of each other have suddenly "popped" forward. They are broken and can't be put back together. It is very dangerous. Thankfully no one was riding in the passenger seat. The driver seat occurred when the vehicle was parked. This could have really hurt someone.
While my wife was driving down the highway heading home from work the front passenger seat headrest exploded. She said the explosion was so loud and startling that she almost wrecked. Had there been a passenger or it been the drivers seat there could have been serious head or neck injuries. Upon looking at the exposed headrest it appears that the plastic that holds the latch bar in place is weak and ripped out.
The driver side ahs headrest, which is both part of the seat and the airbag system, decided to activate without warning. I know these can be reset but, upon checking out the inside, it is clear that some plastic components have failed, allowing it to activate for no reason. I have researched this and read where Chrysler knows this is a problem but they have not recalled the vehicles, due to this faulty material. I can't afford $1000 headrest because it's faulty.
Driving in a subdivision at about 20 mi/hr and the passenger headrest ahr deployed for absolutely no reason and without warning hitting the passenger sharply in the back of the head. Looking at the unit it appears that the plastic component holding a retention pin gave out releasing the pin which was still in the grip of metal claws so we know the solenoid didn't accidently activate. The plastic simply broke!! fortunately it didn't result in injury other then a sore head! there are a lot of reports of this happening with these headrests so it is recurring problem which I'm surprised hasn't been addressed yet. If/when the drivers side does the same thing it could result in an accident causing situation.
I have a town and country 2014. While my husband was driving our Mini van on the highway and I was in the passenger seat. The head rest on the passenger side seat deployed and slammed into the back of my head for no reason. We took it to the dealership and it was way too expensive for us to pay for out of pocket because it was not covered in our warranty. Then just a few days ago when I was driving and come to a stop the drivers side had slammed into the back of my head again! why would these deploy for no reason what so ever. This is a huge safety risk. They cannot be reset because the same piece that broke on the passenger side broke on the driver side. Please tell me what are the chance ?? this is needs to be addressed and the faulty head reset needs to be recalled.
The passenger active head rest exploded forward while I was driving. I had just dropped my wife off and was headed down the road and a loud boom happened and I looked over and saw the head rest sticking forward from the rest of the piece. If my wife was still in the vehicle it would have struck her in the head.
The passenger side headrest srs system deployed while unattended. Chrysler refuses to repair or replace this.
Our 2014 Chrysler town and country driver's side head rest deployed. The car was stationary. . . . Parked in our driveway. No one was hurt. The plastic pieces are broken ut the metal pin is in place.
Got in my car this morning and noticed my passenger heat rest was sticking out. Did some research and come to find out the head test deployed for no reason. I looked at it more and plastic inside of it broke which cause it to deploy for no reason.
The safety feature of the front row headrest released during transit. Upon inspection it was found that the plastic retaining arms failed releasing the tension arm which controls the safety feature of the part. No one was injured in this instance but it represents a substantial safety issue particularly because it occurred as part of the safety features of a large capacity family vehicle. The failed piece could easily lead to death or injury. The premature release of the headrest tension was very loud and constituted a major distraction. In the event of this happening to the driver while in motion it could cause injury to the driver which may, in turn, result in injury to other passengers if a wreck occurs.
I filed with the manufacturer. . . And once again the run round. Sent me to you. . . So below is my complaint. Hello my name is tasha dimon. I purchased this 2014 Chrysler town and country believing it would be a safe vehicle for my familyso the event today was the van just decided to shut off as I am driving 50mph down the road! I couldn't turn, I couldn't put it in neutral nor could I brake! I have a 5yo and a 3yo in my car!!! really?! all these sensors and bullshit in this car makes it fatal! there was a semi behind me that proceeded to flip me off and blow the horn at me instead of seeing if we were ok. We could have been killed! I have an appointment tomorrow to bring the car in however this is a serious situation. No warning! no nothing! no check engine light. Let me just tell you a little more about this pos I bought it with 30k miles on it. I only had it for about 6 months and had to have the entire transmission rebuilt which still to this day shifts hard and feels like its going to literally fall out of the car. After that is was a tire sensor, then both seats in the second row wont work and they want $1200 to fix a cable! I folded them into the floor maybe 4 times as we use them when going on vacation! the sliding doors act up like they are having a seizure! the pieces all around the car are broken. The running boards the piece in the back where the trunk is and the pieces on the front where it says Chrysler. The air conditioner went out! which took 3 times for the repair man to figure it out because there was no code for the problem! then when they had to tear the whole dash apart to fix the problem now the clock doesn't work and the speedometer ticks like the is a bomb in my dash!.
Air bag warning light stays on. Hood paint bubbling. Stow and go seats shake and vibrate on interstate. Brake rotors still rattle vibrate even after new mopar calipers and rotors replaced.
