3 Fuel Injection Rail problem of the 1997 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/05/2006

On July 5th my fiancee and my 2 daughters were driving to meet her aunt in new jersey interstate 80. While driving my Chrysler town and country 1997 at the normal speed limit she noticed the vehicle smoking in the front vents. As the smoke progressed she was concerned and went to pull the vehicle over, as she did she was not able to use the brake initially and rode several meters before the car would come to a stop (over on the highway). As she pulled over she saw the car start to catch fire, while driving with our children ages 2 and 10 months in the back from the gas line side, she quickly unfastened the kids and was able to single handedly rescue them from the vehicle as the minivan was on fire. I am extremely concerned that a car from 1997 maintained well would just explode into flames during a trip without any warning or without being hit. I have owned this vehicle for 5 years. Paid it off early in March and couldn't fathom how easy I could've lost my entire household without receiving a warning about the recall. Now I am out of a vehicle, my family is traumatized (I am somewhat disturbed because of this) and I have to find alternate means for me to travel and perform both of my jobs properly. Why am I inconvenienced because of this obviously unfortunate situation. I want to be contacted and I demand to know whether your company will solve and rectify this and any other situations pertaining to this issue. I have owned only 2 cars my entire life and they both were Chryslers. I and my family are troubled, disturbed and let down that this occurred. If I am not contacted in a timely manner, I will have to do my own contacting. Unfortunately there is absolutely nothing that can be done about the totaled vehicle.

4 Fuel Injection Rail problem of the 1996 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/02/2005

I have a 1996 Chrysler town and country with the 3. 8l engine that has had the fuel rail recall done. The recall involved putting a clamp type seal around the fuel rail in two places. These seals have both failed and fuel is actually dripping from one of the seals. I have taken the van to the local dealer for repairs I have not heard yet what they will do to resolve this. My concern is that the repair provided by the recall is not sufficient and will fail again in a short time. This is of grave concern to me for the safety of my family. It appears that a poor design is being repaired by an equally poor fix.

5 Fuel Injection Rail problem of the 2002 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/10/2004

We purchased a 2002 Chrysler Town & Country with 22000 miles on it in November 2003. Since then we have had it in the service department 6 times for multiple problems. We first reported a vibration in the front end and a clicking/knocking noise when turning the steering to the right. The dealer service dept. Replaced the sway bar links and bushings and could not "duplicate" the vibration problem. We took it back again 3 more time for the vibration problem until they finally replacced all 4 tires. It stiil has a vibration to this day. In between all of these visits we had it in for a fuel smell thet filled the entire house when parked in the garage. The replaced the fuel rail and o-rings. Still have a gas smell when the tank is full. Also had is back in for a steering problem after they did recall work on the power steering lines that did not get done while on the lot. When we took it back in the power steering rack siezed up in the parking lot at the dealer. They replaced the rack and pinion steering box. Now we just had to take it back again for a clicking noise in the front. They replaced the sway bar links and bushings again. They van currently has 26000 miles on it. After we purchased the van I did some research and found out that it was a rental vehicle before it was actioned to the dealer that we went to. The dealer did not divulge this information to us before signing the deal. They had the van for a total of 3 weeks for the first 2 months that we had it. Things were going well until it all started over again with the sway bar.

7 Fuel Injection Rail problem of the 1996 Chrysler Town & Country

While driving could smell fumes inside, drove home and contacted mechanic to check vehicle. Fuel would be spraying all over engine. Mechanic indicated that fuel rail was causing fuel to leak. Consumer stated dealer would not admit that there was a recall.

8 Fuel Injection Rail problem of the 1996 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/14/2001

There is fuel leaking in a drizzle out of the end of the front fuel injection crossover tube/ injection rail assembly onto the valve cover where it accumulates into a puddle of gas on the valve cover. Lip then spills onto the exhaust header. Huge huge fire hazard. This must be recalled. Called my Chrysler dealer and they say there is no known recall on this and would not honor a fix for this problem. How many lives and vehicles must be lost before someone forces Chrysler to recall and fix this. This will be the last Chrysler I own. **dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis*753523.
