Parking brake release cable broke and handle fell into drivers hand. Cable appears to be aluminium or poor quality steel. Brake system stayed in engaged position. No manual release lever is built into the parking brake system. . Had to dis-assemble the dash to gain access to release the brake ratchett. Ratchett lock was released using a long screw driver. This could be dangerous if failure had occured on a street or hiway. My wife was in a parking lot. This condition was repaired by the dealer and covered by warranty.
